Here's a cool animation I was holding on to in case I did a GingerBread theme. But I don't think I will so...
Original art is by freeny, Superb job IMHO.
Just rename to bootanimation.zip and overwrite the one in your /system/media directory. Set permissions to match original.

Does it actually animate?
Edit: so it does. Can you create an animated gif with it and post that up? That should help kick this thread off.
Would you be kind enough to do one on a black background?
Agreed on black background but stellar non the less. Great work, thanks for sharing!

Sorry, without the original project file I can't do a black background. Can't simply key out the white because it would also remove the white that I want to keep. And it would be a hell of a job to roto each frame.

Aw man that sucks. This is sweet, but it's so bright white...
The animation goes well for the first turn, but when it comes back around to the front for the second time, it skips/freezes until full boot. Evo, Fresh 4.0.0.4 ROM.
I'd REALLY love for this to work right, as I've set the boot sound to Dethklok's "Go Forth and Die" (seriously, it's great with the Gingerguts), but I don't want it to look jank.
Thats really cool and it reminds of the garbage pail kids for some reason lol

That is really good.

hahaha nice1 bro

could someone help me installing this on an evo im running speedy shift port and theres no boot animation under the path listed.
edit: so 1st I placed it under /system/customize/resource and it still played the stock bootanimation w/ sound
2nd I moved the spc_bootanimation to my sd card and it played just the word "android" w/ no sound. Like Decks roms boot animation.
3rd I renamed it spc_bootanimation and it played yours but w/ the annoying stock sound fx and then it started stuttering and wouldnt rotate anymore. I dont know what else to try. Im gonna stop though before i break my phone lol.

I just downloaded a new bootanimation from UOT's kitchen and extracted the animation.
I went to /system/customize/resource/ and deletede the file bootanimation.zip.
The file is a "read only" so you need permission to delete it. I the copyed the new bootanimatio.zip to the same place and restarted - and i worked.
If you don't hav access right to the fil, perhaps you actualy didn't replace the file.

it's ok, I've already asked him a couple of months ago to publish it
have a look here
I'll add the credit later this evening.
This version is optimized for the atrix resolution at 540x960. I suggest editing the desc.txt to your resolution for other devices.
Boot Animation
Three (3) times I have put this into /system/media/ and then over written the previous animation when the pop up asked if I wanted to over write the existing file with that name. Three times it has not worked....Such a shame, I thought this animation really looked good :-( I now OFFICIALLY give up! LOL

well i dont think itd work because i didnt sign it, and it was originally a system app, you can feel free to try and let me know though. I'll try to see if i can make an installable version.
I am currently working on another release. So far I have modified the Ocean Waves wallpaper to look like the ocean waves under the moon night, and I made the galaxy wallpaper take on a more "Galaxy S" color pallette. I plan on doing the nexus wallpaper next and i might have a release by the end of the weekend hopefully. I still dont know how to make them installable apps though so we are going to have to rely on replacing the stock wallpapers till then. if anyone wants to help me out, feel free to shoot me a pm.
Thanks!

Seems like this would be a pretty easy metamorph, since it's only a few png's that are changed for each wallpaper. Or a standalone install shouldn't be too hard either.
I like the nexus wallpaper a lot so I kanged it into a NexusMod apk.

Can you upload and post a link to the apk you made?
Or can the OP offer any suggestions as to why this might not be working on my phone? I'm running the Vibrant6 with a lagfix. It installs both apps, but in application manager it says they are both 0.00 bytes, and they don't show up in live wallpapers at all.

Did you flash through clockwork recovery? Hmm actually I think it's because I used the lwp from the stock rom, and I just remember it's odexed. I'll put up a deodexed version tonight hopefully. If anyone wants to help me make this an installable apk I'd really appreciate it
metamorph
I used this theme as training for metamorphing. Everything is the same as in the OP's version, but I removed the unnecessary files of cours, hence a slightly smaller size.
In regards to uploading the modified NexusMod apk, I would have to say no, since it's not a free app. Unless Chris gave me permission. I would be happy to give a brief tutorial though.
Thank you. And I didn't know about the Nexus mod being paid...I thought I downloaded it for free once. I guess they have two versions on the market, and I just don't remember seeing the other. Thanks though for the metamorph.
Although if you don't mind, I would like to know how you squeeze parts into an already made app. Will that allow me to use the different colored particles from Nexus mod on this background?

Can anyone make it so it fits the aria and runs at the same speed as this picture?
edit* i took the time to resize all the pics in folders "part0" and part1", you can download it from here.
Now if someone would take the time to zip/compress (apparently i don't know how :/) then make it possible to run through recovery, that would be great

I gave it a quick try last night from my laptop but couldn't get it to work. My laptop is running Ubuntu which I'm not super familiar with though. So I may be zipping it wrong. I know in windows you have to zip it without compression in order for the boot animation to work. Ill try messing with it again if nobody beats me to it.

I did. Its the rezipping thats causing the problem I think. Im just getting a black bootanimation after changing the resolution in desc.txt and then repacking it. The unmodified one shows up fine, just not sized right, so I know it works so thats what leads me to believe that its not getting zipped correctly.
dont unzip it just pull desc.txt edit it and drop it back in
yea i tried and all i get is a black screen bootanimation
Unfortunately, since the pictures were made for 480 x 800 (3:5) devices, a simple scale down to 320 x 480 (2:3) distorts the dimensions of the picture so everything looks "flattened" or "stretched outward."
*Update on first post
I took your resized images and repackaged them in a zip you can flash from recovery. I havent had a chance to actually test it out though so let me know if it works.
View attachment Bootanimation.zip
thanks, Update* it still shows a black screen, imma look at the wildfire thread, since i was able to get the boot to work on my phone through recovery and see what they did that we can probably do

Hmm now that I look at it i see that the file size I posted was only like 140 bytes...the original was over 300 kb wasn't it? Something is definitely getting screwed up in the zipping process...ill try my windows machine tonight. I've gotten plenty of bootanimations to work using windows.
Sent from my Liberty using Tapatalk
yea about 338 kb
So is there a flashable version of this yet? I tried copy and pasting in root explorer but no luck. Am i doing sometgung wrong.?

yea right now we don't have a working version but we are working on it, if you want a working version. .there is thread over in wildfire area with a working bootanimation for our phone but the animation is smaller than our phone
I am attempting to make this a working version as well! )
@ValkyrieLiberty
well you have our resources and can probably get further then we can, were just having problems zipping the content back up to flash and can't seem to.
ok so ive tried modifying the desc.txt and running it with the 400x800 .png's. and that didnt work. So I used the modified desc.txt file with all the .png's resized to 320x480 and still a no go. All Im getting is a black screen with this one. I did the zip with no compression. Here's the desc.txt if anybody else wants to give it a go...I accidentally deleted all the .pngs resized to 320x480 but its fairly easy to do online if anybody else wants to give this a go...
This is a port for the Atrix of the gray and black dancing Barbershop Quartet taking out Apple. Thought it was funny, so ported it over for the Atrix. Just like the original, it loops at the end of the standing Android with the word flashing.

Same here. Black screen only. I already chmod 644 the new bootanimation.zip, no effect.
*edit* it seems when you zip the animation, you need to store instead of compress (inability to uncompress at boot time I guess). Will try this in a bit.
*edit 2* yup, that worked. store, not compress (zip option, works with 7zip)
Odd, I did No Compress like I always do. Must have happened when I edited the doc and readded it to the zip. WIll replace them in a bit before work.
Updated the downloads after rebuilding the zips, sorry bout that lol. Looks like it did redo the compression when I updated the txt live. Ah well.
Think my next port will a bios boot animation customized not only for size, but try to edit it for processor, etc that matches the Atrix. Depends on how busy work is this weekend
nice job MrSER!
Black working for me, thanks!
Dude, thanks a lot for this. I installed the black using adb with no problems. You should find a sound that goes with this. lol
can someone explain how to install this.. i kow it goes into system/media..... but do we just rename the downloaded file bootanimation.zip?
Correct, you simply rename it to bootanimation.zip. I recommend renameing the original bootanimation.zip to a different name first in case u want to ever restore the original animation.

Simple little boot animation inspired by olieebur's Honeycomb theme.
installation:
just copy over the bootanimation.zip under /system/media/ using root explorer, or something similar. Or run the included script in the .zip (Honeycomb Takeover.zip)
Video of First Takeover
This is my first bootanimation, if you have any requests for other Atrix bootanimations, post them
Original boot animation (boring):

Honeycomb Takeover:
(yay figured out how to .gif, scaled image quality though)
bootanimation.zip is the Default bootanimation to revert back
Honeycomb Takeover.zip is the Takeover (just extract and run bootanimation.bat, make sure USB -> debugging, and none are selected)
- run the .bat only for 1.2.6 and 1.5.2 it will not work for 1.5.6 and is untested on Bell Atrixes(?)
You guys should also check out HoneyGlow which will feature a modified version of the second Honeycomb Takeover bootanimation!
Awesome boot animation! Thanks!

Thanks! It's a nice touch... definitely worth the minute it took to replace the file.
Love it, replaced my gingerblur with it. Thanks.
i really like it too but just a suggestion, maybe make another version where it has some more animations after the takeover, maybe like the hexagons vanishing after the takeover, or the blue colors of the hexagon pulsing red and blue for a bit and then steady blue something unique. I'm sure you could come up with something interesting based on that

Yea originally I had wanted the motorola logo to have a pulsing glow and have random hexagons appear and disappear, but I didn't want to put too much effort into something noone would like.
I will try to get a more feature rich version out sometime later this week.
Another idea: Since it's a "takeover", it would be cool if the moto logo could transition into a circle with the honeycomb bee or just the honeycomb bee alone or something like that.

First you need to root your phone
Then you need something where you can access "every folder" in your phone. I use Root Explorer; ask around for another cheaper alternative.
Using Root Explorer, access the system folder. make sure you're on the root folder
Then go to the Media folder.
the final path should be (/system/media)
Replace the bootanimation.zip folder in there with the new one.
If you get a read only error, click on the "mount R/W" button on top to give it permission to overwrite.
Good luck.
I like it +1

- Add alternate sound in ancient speech
Edit #2:
- New ring design and animation
- 3-D android model added
- Black speech texts added
Edit #1:
I've re-upload the sound file with louder voice
Great work!
Always good to see people trying new things.
One suggestion: for the atrix, have your first few frames being the red M, and have that transform into the ring. Makes the bootup much more sexy and smooth.
Thanks!
Looks good!!! I will download and give it a go. I absolutely love lord of the rings!
I do agree with the above post about making the transition smoother and if I could make a request... Could you add "atrix 4g" pr "android" in the same script on the ring below the ring? that would look pretty cool IMO..
Great work on it, came out very nice!
Thanks for the feedback Will improve more on it since this is only my early design.
I can add android logo but not sure about Atrix since other phones may want to use this bootanimation too
Or I can add the black speech texts on top and bottom of the ring
Looks nice.
Is the ring off center when on the phone?
I don't have my wall charger here at work, so can't flash it, and won't have time to mess with copy/paste this morning.
Thanks! Always happy to see people trying out new things ...will give this a go tonight.

The android logo would be coo too and you are right about other phones taking advantage of this cool boot animation.
If you decided to put gandolfs speech on the boot, making it appear in-sync as he's saying it would look awesome! Though, I know this may be more difficult to accomplish and do not expect it to happen just thinking out-loud

You're right. It's a little bit off center. Surprised I didn't notice that.
As for the speech to sync with texts, not too hard i think but surely will need lots of reboot
Well either way you did a good job and I rock the boot animation regardless! even if it is off centered

The texts almost sync with gandalf speech. Tried my best though
Thought of putting the texts in English but the ancient language just looks too cool

omg I just made a mess on my screen! this is legit and I am diggin everything about it. The ancient text is perfect, wouldn't look right in English. you made it flow just right.
Bravo!
