[Q]Restore with bb patch - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

X10a is on bb54..ran Trips 2.2miui rom with cobratos bb patch. Made a backup through xrecovery.
[Q] when restoring the backup do I need to reapply the bb patch zip after restore before reboot?
I've done a restore and been locked on the se logo screen unable to open xrecovery. Not really looking to change bbands since I also run Wolfs rom..

I was switching between J's GB ROM and Wolf's. I was on baseband 52 all the time and on Wolf's I used the baseband patch. When I do a restore of my backup the ROM fully works.
I guess the patch is for the ROM and not the baseband.

Are u talking about restoring your backup of J's Rom?
If you restore a backup of Wolfs Rom it works fully without having to reinstall the bb patch zip?

DO NOT reinstall the patch if its applied already in the backup.

If I (or anyone for that matter!) help you, dont be afraid to press THANKS!

Any idea why when I try restoring my backup of TripNMIUi I end up stuck at the se logo? Its happened twice...first time I was able to get into xrecovery after 30+min of trying..second time I had to use Seus and flashtool..

I always do full wipe, including cache and dalvik...

I do a clean..same as if installing custom Rom..maybe I should clean more than once?
I usually don't wipe battery stats though..but everything else

Just found what possibly the problem. I believe I downloaded the GB patch instead of the patch for Froyo. But it worked on Trips 2.2 miui..so I'm guessing on restore it finally caused a problem.
Have to check the patch to see if its actually the wrong one..

Need help with restore of sms!!!

Hi there... after long i finally updated frm 2.1 to 2.2(freex10 beta4) ... i would like to knw if i can restore my sms i backedup with sebackup???? Do i hav to flash back to 2.1 to get it?? Any help would b appreciated...
Sorry if this has been discussed b4.. i did search but didnt find..
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Pretty sure you can't. If i'm right then SEbackup is Sony Ericsson's? If so then it can only be used on an SE Rom. (only 2.1)
If you really need those SMS' back then you'd probably have to go back to 2.1 (someone else should verify though).
In future, i recommend something like SMS Backup +
Use MyBackup Root. It'll work between any android versions. With SE app you can only restore if you can install the app which is built for 2.1

Thanks guys.... off to flashing 2.1 rom for sms..

I will say my backup root aswell. Its good and frer

Maybe you can use Spritebackup. I have that and I've seen that is so similar to SE original backup and restore. The only problem is that you must buy it...

[Q] Stuck @ "Free Xperia Project" Screen

Hello,
So at my last reboot after installing update.zip from [ROM] CM7.1.0_RC1_J006 my screen is hang at "Free Xperia Project"...can someone help this newbie out by pointing out where did I go wrong?
I have flash the Baseband to 52 and when I go and check it says Baseband "unknown", does that mean its 52 or what? Also do I need to flash the Kernel or flashing Baseband will effect the Kernel also?
Thanks!
Where did you get the .52 baseband download from ?
Did you wipe the everything in xrecovery before flashing the Rom?
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
Baseband .52 came with CM7 .zip so I just use that. Since you're asking I'm guessing my Baseband "unknown" is not supposed to be "unknown" ?
I did not wipe everything in xRecovery before installing update.zip, what is the best way to start over fresh?
Thanks
Go into xrecovery and wipe the phone, cache, and d. Cache and re flash the cm7 rom.

if you have unlocked BL you should be able to flash any rom. as long as the rom image contains all contents you should be able to just flash it.
to go to stock 2.3.4 use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163342&page=1
it wont update your BL though - if you want to do that I think you'd have to sbf a pudding, but I'm not sure.
So the alien rom and cherry one can b flashed to my phone even thou im running on 4.1.26

yeah both of those should work. make sure to backup first.
Wat should I use to backup tb?is it gonna wipe my phone. I used tb to backup b4 and wen I unlocked it wiped my phone wasn't surehow to restore cause tv was gone as well

Use a custom recovery to run a nandroid backup. I like CWM and you can flash it using rom manager. Im still running stock rom because I don't think the custom roms are good enough but you have to decide what you prefer. Try them both.
Jim, your best bet would be to flash CWM recovery by following these instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138541
Once you've done that you can flash to any rom you choose. The recovery installed by ROM manager, from my understanding, isn't a FULL recovery suite.
I personally like Nav's work on the cherry series.
One other thing you might want to keep in mind with most of these new rom's is what radio you're using AND whether or not you have an international phone.
There is a good post about it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009
I've been trying to keep up on all these developments too and it can be difficult.... Good luck and anymore questions, don't hesitate to ask.
i like the alienv3 with alien theme and faux123 oc kernal

when you've backed up with TB, just re-install TB and all your stuff should still be there to restore. it stores it on the SD card.

[Q] downgrading question

i know about the infamous 0% battery problem after downgrading from .42 (2.3.4) to .181 (2.3.2), but what about downgrading from .42 to .368 (2.3.4 to 2.3.3, respectively)?

Do it directly.

My personal opinion!
First!!
When you flash or switching new rom THEN backup your SDCARD to computer. Backup ONLY apps, NOT data....because data restore backup 99% times causes some ****ing errors and force close.
AND new fresh install is always better than 10times backuped and restored apps, data, rom.
Second!!!
Lookup your sdcard and delete ALL FOLDERS THAT YOU DONT USE. Most new apps install creating some new folder to your sdcard...But when you uninstalled those apps later, folders STAYNG. Its recommended when flashing new rom. Recovery wipe dont delete those folders.
Third!!!
Its only my opinion.....but.
Evryone who want install new rom, some tweaks etc...pleas use 1st SEARCH botton. Xda search or google powerful search.
We already have a huge xperia thread where is a LOT "How to....."
Have nice day.

[Nandroid] 2.3.3 Nandriod, Stock CDMA R800x with Root

As I was having issues recently with DoomKernel and wifi constantly having issues, and several attempts to resolve it with no fix. I noticed that there was no 2.3.3 stock Nandroid floating around these forums.
So I decided to reflash 233 FTF and create this nandroid with root, and share it here. I scrounged several threads and did several searches and only ever came up with 2.3.4 for R800x, but no 2.3.3 nandroid. Anyways here is the link for Stock R800x 233 with Root. This is a fresh and clean straight from FTF, with only root added. Thats all. If anyone wishes to upload this nandroid to another place as a backup link for mine please do but I do ask that you keep the download link here for those who may wish to have a fresh nandroid.
Anyways... enjoy ya'll.
Nandroid is zipped, just uncompress and restore to your Sdcard in the following place:
SDcard
-clockwork
--backup
---My 233 nandroid in a folder

Thanks so much! DooMKernel was giving me constant issues as well, I'd find myself flashing back to stock and having to redo everything.

After FTFing (haha.... f'ing) back to fresh 233, I spent all evening restoring everything back manually and then reflashed doomkernel with wifi modules and everything runs great...... I had not ftfed since Aug of last year... I had just been restoring my nandroid backup... so I guess it was time to get that fresh 2.3.3 FTF smell back
What kernel are you using with stock 2.3.3, preferably one with built in recovery and working wifi
