If so have you found anything that was not working on it? I am currently running VEGAn Ginger and want to try the HC but I want to know what is not working before taking the time to nvflash and install new ROM.
No, but
Many things are still not workin, but there are great improvements daily. I think it wont be long to say a stable beta version.
So i would suggest to be patient and wait till the beta is out
Thanks, I will stay with VEGAn for now until then.
I loaded a2.2 and it is pretty good. They updated the email apps in a2.3. The only things now not really working are hd video, camera, flash (not sure if flash is working in further updates). Overall, for me the things that are missing are already missing in vegan rc1 (hd video and camera) so I am gonna stay with honeycomb and continue updating as new updates come out. It is nice and streamlined.
Been running every iteration. I've stuck with a2.1 now for a bit.
After this update, they have the overclocking kernel back in place and my gtab hates that. So I reverted back to 2.1, and then just copied the working email and gmail apps over.
Just missing the flash, who cares about the camera.
Came from Vegan Ginger, so the only thing this doesnt have over that is the working flash. But to be honest, its been a lot more stable than ginger ever was.

I installed a2.2 and it is crazy fast. 1900 quadrant before OC 2900+ after OC. Only caveat is the wifi crashes and the camera issues. Waiting for RC now.

You need to update to 2.4 - a good bit was fixed. Still no camera or OpenGL, but almost everything I need is fine as wine!
(I still am not happy with Asus-based 3.X yet - hoping for an Acer-based version 2.5 or something higher ... or version 4)

Pretty sure that is just running the Adam or Bottle of Smoke ROM.
The 3.01 they reference is the Honeycomb version, the 2.X referred to here is version of the Bottle of Smoke mod by Roebeet.
Bottle of Smoke
Just got it running today. It took me several hours to figure out the process, but I have successfully loaded the software. I am running Smoke Alpha 3.3. I am experiencing problems with wifi which seems to only be available for about 10-20 minutes. Once it stops working I have to restart the system. I can't scan or restart wifi from with in settings. I did get vulkano to work but it to locked up when I tried to change channels. I couldn't get Dolphin HD to work -- it loads but won't render any web pages, but Firefox beta (5) seems to work just fine. For some reason I can't download opera 11 from the market but other apps install with not problem. I have tried a few basic games (for the grand kids) and they seem to be working ok.
Does anyone know if Netflix is working for Bottle of Smoke??
Not on my viewsonic. You can access your queue but you can't view any videos.

Except for Opera, all of those are (well) documented issues. Read through the last 10-20 pages in Roebeet's BoS thread at Slatedroid and you will see many other people talking about the same things.

Just ordered my G Tab from Amazon and wondering what ROM I should jump to.
Thanks for your time.
Each ROM has it's fans but I've been running VEGAn 5.1.1 since it was posted and for me and my needs from a tablet it's rock solid without a bunch of force closes or other issues like I've read other people report about other roms or tweaks (like using different kernels) they've made to them after they've flashed a flavor of rom.
I use my gTAB for games, reading books/magazines/comics, accessing my work computers, watching ripped videos, watching flash videos on sites like HULU (needs hacked Flash) or Fox Television (doesn't need hacked Flash). And I've had access to the Market with almost every app I've needed or wanted show up without any tweaks.
In the end it's really up to the user and what the user wants out of their tablet.
I moved to the Vegan GB ROM mainly because, for some reason, Flash kept malfunctioning on any of the 2.2 ROMs I used. I miss watching videos, but hopefully a GB driver is forthcoming.
On the 2.2 side, I preferred Calkulin's ROM (with pershoot's Froyo kernel) because it was fast, and I also thought it was more tablet-oriented.
My advice is, while your tab is still new and you don't have it as customized as you will in the future, flash every ROM available and take them for a test spin. I'd run Calkulin's Format All zip before every ROM install just to be safe.

Considering how easy it is to do, I second this. It's pretty much what I did before settling on VEGAn 5.11, although I think I may try VEGAn Ginger again.
I am running CM7 on the Gtab without any issues. I chose CM7 rom since I am familiar with it because I am using that on my DInc.
Yeah I was considering VEGAn Ginger too. Let's see how much free time I have this weekend.
I am running cm7 on mine....since all the other versions are based off cm7 anyway. Cyanogenmod does an update and pushes it out...I don't have to wait for the others to update their source base from cm and merge in their rom edits.

I use CM7 with Pershoot's kernel and VTL Launcher. I've found it quite nice since they integrated in the tablet tweaks. I don't watch videos on it, though, so I haven't had to worry about hardware acceleration. Though, apparently, the last stable release and nightly gives some NVidia tuning, though not full hardware acceleration like Froyo, from what I gather.

You can get the hacked libflashplayer.so file for flash 10.2 here. You need to install the standard flash 10.2 first, though. It's available on the market, but you can also get it here if it doesn't show up in the market for you. I've been running it on CM 7.0.2 and it works great; just make sure to set your browser to desktop (in stock browser, Menu>Settings>Select User Agent; I set mine to linux desktop) and configure the run at boot file transfer script (instructions are in the post).

Download the attached zip to mount the internal SD card as /sdcard instead of /emmc if you wish.
You can also Google "CM7GBMod3.zip" to remove all unnecessary CM7 apps to give you a cleaner feel.
Has anyone been able to get netflix and/or hulu working. I am a noob with a g tab. Ive installed clockork and VEGan. Now netflix says i need an upgrade and hulu says my device is not supported. It would be greatly appreciated.
Netflix has never worked on VEGAn (5.1.1 or Ginger).
Netflix, with their "there is an update available" has made Netflix no longer work on my CM7 Gtablet (CM7.02 Stable). While it did previously......it would not progress beyond the "there is an update available" screen and installing the official App from the Market (pulled from my Motorola Droid) will now fully load...it no longer streams as it did before.
Hulu I don't use but I believe a hacked version of the Flash app and setting the browser agent to Desktop instead of Android can make it work.
Here is the thread for the newest fixed flash.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1077914
I recommend using dolphin browser and like mentioned above you need to set user agent as desktop.
Works good for me. Every now and then there can be some audio sync issues but that happens to me on PC during peak hulu hours too.
You can also use an app called "PlayOn Mobile" from the market, you'll have to setup the desktop version first which can be d/l from their site http://www.playon.tv/playon/
Hulu, Netflix, plus much, much more.....
It streams through your home network and I've found it works anywhere as long as I'm connected to wifi.
Update...
I upgraded my Gtablet from CM7.02 to CM7.03 and Netflix (using the Netflix market app, no build.prop edits) is now streaming again.

I switched from Vegan 7.0 to Cm7 Stable a couple weeks ago to get Netflix on my gtab. Since it's so easy to switch roms with nvflash and clockworkmod (after a couple bricking/debricking and successful installs,) I took some time this week to try out a few different roms.
Yesterday I went through 5 different roms (trying to find one that will handle plants vs zombies, nothing I tried worked very well, btw,) and then I moved back to cm7 stable last night and was disappointed to see netflix was trying to update but would never finish installing the update.
Since it would not work I once again tried out a different rom (Calkulin+Clemsyn's 1.5ghz froyo v.5.) Just out of curiosity I tried to install the updated apk netflix released this week (found it on xda) and I was surprised when it got past the install without even trying to update (though still would not play video or sound.)
Since I now had the new netflix apk, I decided to try it on a fresh install of cm7, I am happy to report that the latest netflix is once again working...just tried it. The version I am using is "com.netflix.mediacliant-2.apk" (but I think the "-2" might be optional.)
Google the qoutes with the term "xda" and see xda post/url ending with 1076150.
Ok able to get netflix on my g tab but now it wont let melog in. Itsays a newer version found and i must upgrade. When i press ok to upgrade, it says upgrade not found. WTF??????????? When i tap on "com.netflix.mediaclient-2.apk, it says the applicatiion will not parse and it wont download.

Make sure you have downloaded the latest unhacked version. Uninstall the currently installed version and install the new (updated by Netflix) version.
That should do it.
I had the same issue. Running one of the earlier ones for a few days (on CM7.02), went and fired up Netflix again and it said I had to "upgrade to latest version". I did that by pulling it off my Droid and installing. It no longer worked.
I then upgraded my CM7.02 to CM7.03 and it worked just fine.
Clockwork wont install cm7.03. Many backups and installs and it still cant find the upgrade.
Netflix & Hulu
Netflix does work with CM7 Stable on the gTablet. Hulu works as well, it needs the Flash 10.3 installed.
I've noticed that hulu needs to buffer for quite some time before the vid matches the sound.
When I was on CM7 Nightly, hulu and Netflix ran perfectly but CM7 would crash on my gtab every so often, (the crash usually started with the widets failing)
Since loading CM7 stable dated May2011, it been running fine but hulu lags...
Thanks hope this others.
EDIT: *****Fixed the lagging in Hulu & Netflix******
I went into Settings>>>CyanogenMod Settings>>>Performance>>>CPU Settings
Here I set:
Avaliable Governors to PERFORMANCE (Smartass not a option),
Min CPU to 1200Mhz (was 216Mhz)
Max CPU to 1200Mhz (was 914Mhz)
I choose 1200Mhz as 1400Mhz had been a little unstable in CM7 nigthly (although I'm running CM7 Stable now) as Ive notice people reporting good stability at 1.2 Ghz. In short, setting the overclocking has increase performance in hulu and netflix which why I flashed to CM from Vegan. Good Luck to all....
I was using VeGen 5.11 forever, then the netflix app came out and the only rom that works with it is CM7. So I tried CM7 but have nothing but problems with it, sure netflix works, but nothing else seems to.
So what is the most stable with or without netflix support that I should be using? Should I go back to VeGen?
Thanks.
Many of the custom ROMs now support Netflix -- it works fine on Calkulin+Clemsyn's Froyo ROM, which includes full hardware acceleration as the GTab was designed for Android 2.2.
I took the same path, Vegan to CM7, and had problems also. Moved to GHarmony and so far I am pretty happy with it. It does support Netflix.

Thank you for the quick reply. I am mostly interested in finding a stable rom, I don't necessarily need netflix, I just want a rom that works.
On a side note, Sorry mods, I figured the general area was open for everything and just read that it is not a Q&A part of the forum, if you could please place it in the proper area that would be great. Thank you.
Netflix works on VEGAn-TAB GingerEdition STABLE RC1
I just recently loaded netflix on VEGAn-TAB GingerEdition STABLE RC1 on Saturday expecting it not to work wild watching TV, but to my surpise when I look down at the screen the movie downloaded and ran. I was watching Netflix on the big screen, so I stop it and open it on the TAB and resume it to where I stop. SWEET!
[ROM][BL1.1] VEGAn-TAB GingerEdition STABLE RC1 [UPDATED - 4/11]
This ROM works with Gmail, calendar, and SKYPE too. I watch me, surf the net, etc....
I even hooked up a key chain GPS to it to check YELP and link my Droid X to it to get data and use Google Map to navigate.
Right now it seems to be a toss up between GHarmony and VeGen Ginger. One of my concerns tho is that it looks like VeGen ginger no longer receives any support (not as of April), perhaps that it not the case though as now people are saying they can use netflix on it and back in June I know it wasn't working, unless it was within the netflix app and not a change on the rom.
+1 for Calkulin+Clemsyn's Froyo ROM. It's as stable as I've seen and so fast...
New version Netflix
I had an older Netflix apx that did not work, this new one works. The app looks the same, but this new one actually works, with the exception of the search. I just go to the netflix website and add it to my instant and then use the app to play the movie.

I think they quit supporting the ROM, since other people on the XDA have developed Honeycomb ROM. I'm pretty satisfy with is ROM. I will get a new Tablet if I want Honeycomb.
So Vegantab Ginger works with Netflix. I am currently running CM7 but I really like Vegan GInger when I had that loaded.

Hello - I've been using Vegan Tab 5 since I got my gtablet last Christmas. It has been pretty nice except that the power/screen button always glitches, and every so often corrupts the profile and I have to wipe all my user data and start fresh.
I have the market, flash/hulu, and the camera working. So my question is, since I just had to wipe it again and start over, what is/is there a current, most stable installation I can use that will have the same features - market, wifi, flash/hulu, camera, and does not crash and force a wipe from the damn power button?
Gingerbread? Honeycomb? Flashback? Beasty/Clemsyn Ultimate Froyo?
If there are awesome new features in newer ROMs that don't have a working camera (I think I read something about that in Honeycomb) let me know. My daughter will be disappointed but thats ok
Thanks

You might consider moving to a 1.2Bootloader.

Try a HC based ROM FB 10.3. It's pretty slick.
If you prefer a FROYO base, Beasty/clem Ultimate is stable also..ans very fast
to make your current problem go away, you need to back up your apps/tab and NVflash and reinstall your current ROM

While I do agree Flashback ROM is very pretty, I've had zero luck with Flashback ROM concerning a fully working and stable Flash Player. I watch a lot of streaming videos on my gTab on Hulu, CBS, FOX, Amazon Prime, etc... and I've tried with Flashback 10.1 and 10.3 and neither of them would let me watch videos via Flash Player.
So, after trying VEGAn 5.1.1, CyanogenMod 7.0.1, VEGAn Ginger, Mountain Laurel 3.1.0, and Flashback 10.1/10.3 I've come back to VEGAn 5.1.1 because it's the most stable and fastest for me (with pershoot's latest FroYo kernel).
I've also used VEGAn 5.1.1 off and on for the better part of a year but haven't had the issues the OP is reporting where my profile gets corrupt forcing a wipe/restore. I guess I've been lucky.

From my experience, funny things happening is usually due to corruption data.
NVflash/wipe usually restore most functions.
I don't use flash much, so I didn't care much about streaming.
I'd just tried out Beasty/Clem Ultimate...It is very fast and stable as well...
Thanks for the advice. Flash is pretty important for me, so it sounds like I'm using the right build for my needs.
I wish i didn't have issues with the power button, but wiping/flashing isn't the end of the world. It doesn't happen very often, but occasionally when the screen sleeps, the button won't bring it back up. After few tries the tab reboots and then sometimes i end up with a corrupt profile and it wont startup.
I'll learn to live with it.
Thanks again

I had this problem as well. I read a post on this site to use a program on the Market Place called Wifi lock or Wifi keep alive, seems to work for me. The problem is when the Wifi goes to sleep.
As for the new ROM I have just upgraded to Vegan Tab 7.1 files can be found here

Do not upgrade Google Maps this will cause force close for maps you need to stay on an older version I’m using 5.5.0.
I thought I'd give y'all my two cents after I installed CM Alpha 3. I decided to install 3 instead of 3.5 because it seemed 3 was running fairly well. The gist from whay ive read was basically "if it ain't broke, why fix it". Frankly, I was debating if I should wait for a stable mod to come out or jump into the Alphas. Hopefully this'll help those with the same question.
So after playing with it for 2-3 hours, running simple tasks, I have to say CM runs amazingly smooth and well. My tasks basically included Android Market downloads, internet browsing with Dolphin, Aldiko book reading, playing around with basic settings, Widgets and backgrounds. The wifi works well - on my home network and tethering with my HTC Evo. I've only encountered about three or four force closes that occurred in succession. This was from ADW Launcher and me trying to install the Honeycomb theme. Not compatible I guess. All the other themes I tried worked. The accelerometer / g-sensor works fine. Keyboard works fine. Battery life is good so far in my tiny experience.
I have yet to try any games or videos yet but I will update later today. I will also be trying Flash out.
