I got my SGS2 today, and I'm very happy with it. The only issue I've had so far is that the light in the two touch buttons are a bit low.
Also, the screen sensitivity seems to be a bit on the lower side. I quite frequently have to press buttons two times to get it to register.
Has anyone else had these problems?
Anyone?
Anyone...?
The light on the lower 2 buttons seems fine for me. But that's probably subjective.
I've gone through 4 replacement Galaxy S2's due to various reasons needing replacements, and on all of them the sensitivity on the touch screen seems abit low in that I can tap the screen lightly and quickly so that it doesn't register on the screen. However on my HTC Desire I can't get the phone to NOT register an input, no matter how lightly and quickly I do it.
@drm111
That is a bit worrying - why have you gone through 4 replacement Galaxy S2's? What was wrong with them?

Haven't really seen any posts on this, so maybe I just got a lemon...
Got my Flyer last night and first thing I noticed was that I had some light-bleed at the bottom of the screen in portait mode. 2 greenish blobs to be exact. Also some more slight bleed along the right side from top to bottom. I cranked up the brightness to just how bad it was, and lo and behold, found 3 stuck pixels.
Examined it a bit more and noticed a slight gap with light passing through along the bottom edge, where the screen meets the bezel. And last but not least, also a jaggy scratch on the aluminum itself.
I'm going to take back to BB and exchange for another, was wondering if anyone else had flaws like these? HTC build quality is usually pretty good, so I was surpised to see this on mine.

There seems to be some different issues depending on which version people have bought (EU/US/other, Wifi only/3G+Wifi).
I have EU 3G+Wifi,32GB version, my screen and the exterior was perfect, but the touch sensors are totally irratic. Sometimes the far most left edge doesn't respond in portrait mode, some times it seems to respond to nothing at all, just flicking the home screens around, pulling the status bar down, launching shortcuts, or typing random stuff, even the soft keys are buzzing and active when this happens.
It actually did this from the first time I powered it on, and it took me 30 mins to get through the first few steps to get it up an running because it kept pressing the wrong places and quite often hitting the back soft key. I tried a factory reset, it helped slightly, tried recalibrating the keyboard, tried various hacks found around these forums, nothing helped. It seems worse in landscape mode than portrait.
I am getting it replaced by Amazon, which is quite nice since it also seems to acquire scratches very easily, even using the capacitive end of the pen has left tiny tiny marks. So, I ordered some screen protectors just to be on the safe side.
No issues with mine, sounds like you just got a dud.
No issues with my and is 16 gb wifii
Ok, just exchanged and got my 2nd one at a different BB... more problems.
This one also has some light-bleed at the bottom, but not as bad as the 1st one. Also has 2 stuck pixels, you can see them perfectly using one of those screen tester apps. And lastly, the volume rocker is loose, when I pick up the tablet, it makes a rattling sound.
Also weird, when I first booted up, had a default wallpaper of a blue skateboarding Android on a dark background... was not the normal default HTC wallpaper, wtf? lol. The box was sealed shut, had never been opened. Weird.
So back to the store again tomorrow, gonna exchange.
Edit: Tried out one of those stuck pixel fixer apps and didn't work. The stuck pixel is red, can see it perfectly on a dark background. I'd be willing to keep this one despite that, but the loose rattling vol rocker is driving me nuts. Argghh!
Ok, I guess 3rd time's a charm because I got Flyer #3 today and seems to be perfect - no dead/stuck pixels or rattling vol rocker! Everything seems solid.
Interestingly, on #1 and #2, the 3d carousel effect never worked at all. But on this one it works fine. Really surprised I had to go through 2 bum units first to finally get one that wasn't defective..
After playing with my new S2 for a few hours, I noticed the two "touch buttons" (left "Menu" and right "Back" buttons) feel like they're on a resistive touchscreen hardware.
What I meant was that the regular touchscreen feels extremely responsive (given that the hardware is capacitive), while those two buttons are slightly less responsive. I often times have to press a few more (twice or three times) on those two buttons to make it work. Or at least I try to press harder.
Maybe this is just with my phone, or maybe this was designed this way... so the buttons at the bottom (including the physical Home) feels like actual buttons, thus you would have to press them down harder?
Anyone notice this too?
A few people on here have reported that the soft buttons aren't as responsive as they'd like, and some people have even said that they only work 4 out of 5 times.
Personally, mine are as responsive as the rest of the screen, so I'd say there's possibly a fault. If you're unhappy, return it as defective and get a new one. Your only other option is to live with it.
Just updated my firmware via KIES, and it's still the same as far as feeling like the two buttons are just a tad tad bit less responsive than touchscreen. Like as if the soft buttons were not capacitive, but resistive. Hmm... I guess I could just be overly sensitive or perhaps this is the way the phone was intended to be? It would be a long shot for me to return this.
User of S3 i would appreciate if you can inform me whether there is any option to increase the touch sensitivity of S3. I read somewhere that ppl find it to be on a higher side but I find it less responsive. Anyway there should be an option that could reduce or increase the sensitivity or may be there is and I dont know about. Can anybody shed light on this
Dont think there is much toincrease. I did some tests on the touchscreen and it is the best screen I have ever seen.it's accurate up to one pixel and kids able to recognize up to ten different inputs.
Cause of the thinner glass of corning it's also more responsible than most other phones.the only thing that would increase the responsibility are better drivers.

I'm also finding the touch sensitivity on the S3 a bit variable. Its super sensitive, almost overly so, over the back button area, so when I lean my thumb across the screen I frequently end up going back by accident. But sometimes when I touch other parts of the screen it just doesn't respond. At all. I have to try several times before it does anything.
It's worse in the browsers. I was using the stock browser but then added Dolphin to see if would help and its possibly not as bad, but is still a problem at times. It also happened yesterday when I was just killing time playing a game, which when you're in the middle of a game of jewels is just a tad irritating ;-).
I'm not new to the Galaxy S range. I had the first Galaxy s since July 2010 and my husband has the S2. So I know I'm not handling it wrong or anything.
Does anyone else have this problem? And is there not a way to adjust it? Or have I possibly got a faulty screen?
More of the same
I don't notice it too much but a friend of mine that also has an S3 says my touch-screen sensitivity is way higher than his... Could this be because I have ghost Armour and he doesn't?

mmmm it is pretty unlikely
I think they only need to decrease the sensitivity of the menu and back button but the touchscreen is perfect!
Okay,
This happens only on the bottom right of the screen, if I press down with a little bit of pressure you can see the LCD screen distort, This occurred on my 1st device (requested a replacement) the replacement does the same exact thing in the same exact area.
So is this just a overall defect with the device (Since it's present on more than 1 device I received) or something with just a bad batch?
To test:
Open up the browser, on a white screen landscape mode, just use some pressure with ur finger press on the screen and the lcd will distort/wave into blue-ish color. Do the same test around you will see that 1 side will always have this effect but the other 3 won't.
The old device this issue was far worse than the new one. Only other note to make.
No issue here

That's bad.. but it wont cause any issues if you don't press on the screen really hard
Well I'm exchanging the second device as well.
Will keep going round and round until one without a defect lands in my hand.
On my Galaxy note 2 no matter how hard I press nothing. DNA little pressure it begins, the 1st unit was very easy to cause the ripple effect, but the second unit was much harder maybe 3rd times the charm.
Well 3rd device does it as well so its an inherent trait of the product.
It sounds to me like the screen is set in tilted a little. A lot of HTC phones have this, I've noticed. Almost all the replacements I had on my rezound you can clearly see the screen set wrong from the light leakage on the bottom of the panel. Actually, I just pressed the bottom right* corner of my screen (the part that's higher) and it actually does the same thing but it's barely noticeable though on my rezound and only on darker colors.
Well the DNA is going back this is basically un acceptable to me. 3 units all of them do it, if you lightly press on the screen it will ripple.
The funny thing is I can feel the difference when you press down on the left side of the device it's much stronger than on the bottom right.
This is definitely not an issue on my phone. My One X had this issue. (coupled with the light bleed from bottom ). Looks like some DNAs are affected by same issue.
But its definitely not common thing. The second DNA I had ordered for a friend was received yesterday and both are perfect with no sign of any such screen ripple issue. Might be the case of bad batch at particular store.
No issue here on my phone. No offense, but it sounds like you are looking for a reason to switch phones. You either have extremely bad luck to get three defective phones, or you are trying too hard to find something wrong.
It happens to me when you press directly in the middle of the phone. Although it's not an issue for me, since the amount needed to press to see it would not be used on the phone on a regular day.
I'm going to try a diffrent source. Yes all the devices have this issue.
I'm going to post a video as well.
Mine does this as well, turns like a purplish color like if you pressed hard on an lcd tv. It hasnt bothered me at all and i love the phone but just wanted to say i have it too
All of the devices have this effect.
My HTC One X has this thingy but you have to press hard...which is not what's intended with a capacitive screen, the problem is that the more the phones are slim and the more screens are fragile, just touch the screen not press it
Not all devices have it but the dna def does have it.
I've bought a used S9+ like 3 days ago and run a QA test inside the phone. The screen was fine and it responds normally, however after 2 days I couldn't use a keyboard because of its issues while typing. Basically, when I'm typing a longer sentence, I have to either slow down or sometimes press a button 3-5 times for it to respond. It stared to occur yesterday and I don't know if that's the touch control issue or something with the display. P.S. I've tested it on Gboard, Samsung keyboard and Grammarly keyboard, all with the same issue.
Is there any fix I can do without paying for a new display? It will cost me the same amount of money as the phone itself.
Thanks!
Are you using a screen protector? If not, try it. Maybe touch sensitivity is turned on in display settings, try changing it to see if it's better. I've noticed that on some screen protectors, they retain a lot of humidity so I have to constantly clean the screen to get rid of "ghost touches"

No, I don't use any screen protectors. My phone has a Spigen case, which is slightly over the screen both at top and the bottom. I tried to turn on and off touch sensitivity and it didn't help. Funny part is that it sometimes stops and goes again.
Had this myself, especially with the space bar ?
Same here, have to press space up to three times (intermittent issue). Screen protector on, sensitivity does nothing.
