I know this nothing related to the tab..but i have an upcoming road trip and was looking to purchase and download some movies for watching it on the go.
I'm looking for legal sites of course .. where do you guys normally buy movies for download? I usually use Netflix so don't have much info on good sites to buy movies from. Also, anything in particular i have to look out for in terms of movie format?
I don't know about a good site for buying movies besides amazon but figured I'd offer what I use. I have a subscription to playon which has an android app. This allows me to watch media from hulu, netflix, and my server. It works with a lot of devices and has tons of options. Check out their website (playon.tv), they offer a trial so you can check it out.
nice work!
I have never had any problems with Samsung's media hub, but beyond that I always use netflix as well...

Legal site I don't know much about *cough* but I think Netflix is still your best bet, unless you want to stream live but that would require internet connection.

So, I'm not sure how Netflix is his/her best bet???
They want to watch on a trip, so wouldn't the content need to be local on their GTab???

Actually this year to use the app it is like 50$ more if you are a subscriber, but either way if you aren't subscribed to sunday ticket you can pay the 50$ and still use the app. Sucks for you're of us with the actual subscription since it used to be included but great for those who don't want the full subscription and just the app use.

Thanks but maybe I can find a cheaper alternative - my in laws are from new jersey and are huge Dallas cowboys fans (don't know how that happen) but they only televise a few games out of the whole season the rest all just local teams(jets/giants/philly)
I was thinking that there might be software where they can watch tv online by maybe tuning in to a local channel from Dallas. Just looking into a possible alternative might be cheaper than $50 subscription to direct tv....then again it might be the only option. also they do not own any tablets so will the nfl sunday ticket for $50 work on their home PC?
Thanks in advance.

As far as I know it will, The 50$ (again not 100% sure that was the price but close) should work on any mobile device as well as PC's. I used to use it on my laptop but like I said I didn't pay the extra money this year for it so I'm not sure I just know it used to. Sorry wish I could be more help.
What is the latest and greatest shareware for grabbing mp3's using my desktop? I used WinMX back in the day, LimeWire, I have FrostWire now but searching doesnt bring up much, besides LimeWire court settlement crap. Leads me to think not many ppl are using it anymore. I really dont want to go the torrent route, unless thats all there is (that works good) right now. Yes I know, not E3D related, but it can be, watch. Also is there a app for p2p that will run on my E3D? If so cool, if not my PC is good enough

I use Tunee to get mp3s on my phone. The downloadble .apk from the market is here.
torrents, sir, are the way of the future. Swarm is amazing. It's a paid app, but I feel like it will pay for itself...
I use mediafire. They have an android app now too

For mp3 I get mine at mp3sale.ru. yeah its not torrent and you have to pay but at least all my songs are tagged correctly, decent download speed, only download what you want, great bitrate. Not sure what prices are now. I paid $50 for like 1500 downloads. Haven't logged in for a few years. Just did and my credits still there, account active. Plusu you can redownload anything you previosly downloaded for free.

We Can't be the Only ones, Can we? Lol...
everyone is interested the problem is that the legality of apps that can stream live tv from the channels we are interested in is pretty questionable. Essentially the developers of the app don't have the rights to stream the content and the content owners aren't interested
Not really a way to do it unless someone sets up something similar to http://www.slingbox.com/go/home
Otherwise, you'll need to wait till companies like Comcast and Cablevision port their apps from the ipad to android
If you live in the UK (or have a uk vpn/proxy u can use) the best isn't really an app but a website
www.tvcatchup.com gives access to the following channels
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
I have used this service many times whilst I am camping and its perfect.
In Australia, I can only watch ABC channel!
Every Stupid website that works seems to get Shut Down as soon as I find out about it, Lol...
Hello all just recently joined the prime family and I am trying to get movies onto the tab. I successfully got two onto it, but I am having trouble getting the didgital copy edition ones on. Rather I should say I can't get them to work period. Can anyone recomened me a program that removes the drm and can convert the movies into an appropriate file. I am unrooted and I have vista as my os on my computer 32 bit I think any help would be much appreciated thanks.

If your able to get them on the prime but unable to play the format, try downloading an app called " online player". It can play almost any format.
Go to the play store on your tablet and download MX VIDEO PLAYER. this will play just about any video format.
Thanks for the input and i have tried mx player, bb player, dice and many others. I am finding that I am having trouble with files that are DRM protected. I have 2 movies on my prime that i can view no problem, but I have tried to put 2 other movies on that came with blue ray as a digital copy that i cannont play. I am looking for a video converter or perhaps a program that can remove the DRM on the file so that they can be played back on the prime.
thanks.
oh and a side note, i can not seem to reply or post anything on xda from my prime, all i can do is read. Am i stupid and just not using it right or does it not yet have complete functionality with ICS? any thoughts?

I would recommend Dice Player, a nice simplistic UI and plays practically any media files along with subtitles and such.
As for the XDA problem are you using the browser? If so are you even logged in? lol
I have been using DVD Catalyst. The software is very inexpensive and the developer is extremely responsive. He is a "supporting vendor" at the Transformer Forums. There is a trial period for the software if you want to try it out. He was right there to help when one of the 15 videos I was converting using the software just wouldn't work. He got right back to me and helped me with necessary adjustments. Not sure about Vista but you could ask him.

I can post, reply etc. from my Prime, the menu icon near the bottom of the screen supports that functionality...I am using the paid version though, I'm not sure about the free one. Support the devs!!! It is certainly worth the small cost to have access to all the knowledge found at XDA forums!

Yup, I've been using DVD Catalyst for a while and it's never met a video file or DVD it hasn't converted. There are presets for all kind of devices and it's easy to use. I'll second the fact that the dev is very quick to reply. Every e-mail I've sent asking a question has been met with a responce in a couple of hours. I'm not sure about digital copies, I've never tried to convert on of those yet.

Digital Copies (the ones you get with some DVDs and Blurays) are DRM protected. They use an activation system that is mostly compatible with Apple iDevices and Windows Mobile devices, but not with Android devices.
There are some newer formats, such as UltraViolet and PocketBlu, that are "Android" compatible, but they are a bit of a hit & miss.
There are some tools that use your computer to play and record the files in order to "convert" them (the only way), however, you will achieve better results by converting the actual BR and DVD discs directly.

Are these "digital copy editions" iTunes videos?
I ran into the same problem. I buy a lot of DVDs and when they come with a "Digital Edition" it is always an iTunes video which has some sort of copy protection that prevents non-Apple devices from playing them most of the time.
I used an program called Noteburner M4v Converter that sells for $40. It strips the DRM out of the iTunes movies and allows you to play them on other devices.
Here is a link to the site:
http://noteburner.com/noteburner-m4v-converter.html
It takes a while to convert the movies but the quality is just as good as the unconverted movies and you can convert them to several formats. I kept the videos in M4v format since Android has no problem reading this format and it is easier to convert from one format to the same format if all you are interested in doing is getting rid of the DRM so you can play you legally purchased movies on your Android device.
Ya I can rip regular DVDs onto my prime but the digital copies I find have the drm on them and won't let me add it to my prime guess I need to buy a blue ray reader for my computer

I have this same problem. seems to be the drm incoding. I looked at DVD catalyst site, and it says that it can't convert drm encrypted files. Any one have another program that will?
I had a trial with the S4 but returned it due to my eyes hating the display compared to my old Samsung Infuse super clear, bright display. I had disabled every bit of bloatware and successfully installed Adobe flash player, and could play flash videos on sites through certain browsers (Boat and Dolphin). I must be able to watch flash American Sign Language videos so I would like to know of others experiences with the HTC One worked well, or not, for flash videos after installing flash player as I had on the S4.
Thanks...

Yes, that is what the S4 stock browser supposedly did also but in reality it did not. That's why I'm wanting to know of users real life experiences playing various videos on different web pages before I buy the ONE. The display of the ONE is so far superior to the S4!

Also, if there's a store nearby, you could go try out specific sites yourself.

Thank you... I just spent the day trying to find a live HTC One in the 'big' city area of Vermont. There were plenty of S4, but only mock-ups of the ONE. Best Buy, Walmart and several AT&T stores only had the fakes.... and the AT&T corporate store was beyond rude and ignorant!
The most important videos need my login info. On the following page there is a video on the top right side and also the lower right side, http://www.lifeprint.com/that that would be a good start.
Another site is http://www.signingsavvy.com/browse.php
Type a simple word in the search box and a video should come up to play.
That would be a big help. Thanks...

Unfortunately, most of the American Sign Language sites, especially those with thousands of word sign videos. ASL is completely visual, no voice. An ASL site programmer I know said it's been an absolute nightmare since the new phones and tablets have been phasing out flash and there are so many different platforms dealing with it differently.

On the first site, I couldn't get the upper-right video to play. It showed up as a flash movie, but the play button didn't work. The video in the lower-right seemed to work, though.
Couldn't test the second site, as it says a login is required to search.
Thanks for trying...
Much appreciated!

I know Lifeprint.com is trying, but they and many of the other sites have such a massive amount of video files from decades of individual vocabulary word signs, etc. It is a major job that has not gone smoothly. Think of changing format of each word in an unabridged dictionary (visual only). On each and every ASL site I use there are people writing in daily about their devices not able to play the videos... Mac, Windows, IOS, Android, and all of the individual variables from before and after the flash/HTML5 upheaval. Most of these people are not particularly cyber-tech savvy and just need to be able to watch the videos to learn ASL. I have severe hearing loss and can not use hearing aids so I have been trying to learn sign for several years. In the beginning the issues were only my own brain not being on board to learn ASL easily,.... now I am beyond frustrated with the videos and sites I depend on almost every day not working as they should.
My Infuse is in the dark ages (Froyo) with flash, but I can play most of the videos and use the ASL sites. When I had the trial with the S4, I could watch some of the videos and sites after installing flash player and a specific version of Dolphin and Boat browsers. They had many quirks though.... a video would show up but be unresponsive to touch, or the video show would play and act fine but not be able to be zoomed so it would be too tiny to see clearly. Before I had installed Flash Player none of the sites worked at all. My friend has an Iphone and Ipad and is often unable to use the ASL sites and videos. Some sites I have given up with but some I must be able to use.
Most youtube videos will play on the new phones. It's the non-youtube videos that I need to be able to watch and interact with.
AT&T had my returned S4 sitting lost somewhere in their warehouse until I had a chat and they found it. Now I am waiting for them to process and say I am able to update. I also keep hoping that HTC quality control will be improve and the Ones will come through with fewer issues. My old Infuse seems to be working better since they reactivated it with a new sim so maybe I will just wait a bit longer rather than adding another possible $36 return fee.
I use Maxthon browser to play flash websites. You can set it up to play flash always when you go to settings. It's free on play store.
Hope that helps.

Thanks, Minicoop. I had tried Maxthon browser a few times on my Infuse, my Galaxy Tab 8.9, and the S4 trial. It did not handle the specific videos I need to play well at all. I have really seen that since html5 has become the norm, all browsers that supposedly play flash websites do not play the videos I need to watch without issues or at all.
Just a confirmation about not using tools to root.
