Maybe a weird query but I'd like to know this
Mine is 5 weeks old and miraculously I haven't dropped it yet and in last 5 years this is the only phone which I haven't dropped. But the scaring part is, how will it manage if I really do drop it? So if anyone of you has this experience please share with us.
Regards.
lols. in the last 5 years, this is the ONLY phone i've managed to drop! And i've dropped it TWICE!!! OMG i was/am pissed about it.
But luckily, my friend wants to buy it off me, and now I can pick up a brand new one. HAHAHA.
Hopefully, I will not ever drop the new one.
Once. It was in it's case......
three times. perfectly working, one of them it was a crash with my moto. I get injuried but my phone is perfect
I never drop my phone's. Maybe I dropped my last HTC Desire once in a year.. but it was not serious or anything. People need to be carefull with their stuff
so... so many time. At least 15, 10 onto pavment/gravel. The screen was almost flawless throughout all this but a few weeks ago I was drunk and put the phone in my key pocket. Few deep scratches now. Body has some marks but not bad for how many times its fallen, I think its weight helps.
No case/protector.
Very happy. All my phones get beat up, this seems to last better than most.
Just once. Yesterday. I lost my breath. Until I found out nothing was damaged
Haha. Dropped it twice 3 days ago. My heart skipped a beat or two when I heard it smash to the floor. Must've hurt the poor thing so bad haha.
I seriously had a dream where my phone fell apart. One of those dream you don't realise its a dream you know..
the first time i dropped it scuffed the plastic on the corner a bit, the second - two light scratches on the screen. pretty annoying after having had 3 iphones and managing to never damage them!
I've never dropped a mobile in 14 years and I'm not planning on starting with that one
I don't bother with screen protectors and the likes either, haven't managed to scratch a screen yet.

Knocked mine off a shelf onto a wooden floor yesterday. Dropped about 4 feet. Back popped off but...
After turning it over very slowly i was relieved to see the screen in tact.
Phew. No case either. May have to buy carpets for my house to protect the sii from further incidents! (or just be more careful)

I droped mine maybe 1x from ( Inside Car => fallen down to the ground ) nothing happen... ^^
Ok i have also a Zenus Withe Cover
Galaxy S1 also droped few time but same nothing happen...
Cheers
I dropped mine once when i was drunk and somehow the back cover and battery went flying of. Put it back together and turned back on all good.
But have no idea how that back cover came off? I have trouble taking it off my self.

I dropped the phone out of my pocket while running and the phone slid on the floor, back cover popped off and battery came out. No damage to the phone and it was working fine. I had the phone in my pocket next to my keys another day and figured it was alright since the screen is supposed to be protected by Gorilla glass. When I took my phone back out I had a few noticeable scratches in the glass. I thought that was impossible with the Gorilla glass and haven't put the phone back in the same pocket with my keys ever since.

Gorilla Glass is Scratch Resistant not Scratch Proof. So using it without a screen protector is a bad idea.
Anyway, I have feeling relieved now, after seeing so may of you had already dropped it but nothing happened. So I guess the build quality is good, reliable, that's another very good side of this beauty.
Regards.
PS- Keep them coming.
Dropped it twice, both times during exams. It helped quite a lot passing 'em tho

Only have it a few days and im ultra careful with it i nearly always keep it in my pocket when im out and about and when im at home i make sure to keep it out of the way from my 2 year old son who picks up anything and everything
so i just joined the team...
i dropped it just now,,,its been 5 mins(the late is due to my paralyzed condition when i dropped it) .... Its totally fine,,,working just perfect,,,looking as awesome as it was,,,
just when u look very closely at the screen(light coming from right direction),u ll notice a 2 mm long scratch on the screen which is like thinner than the thinnest hair,,,,it nothing ....but i am just too angry at myself
I've dropped it a few times with cases on and no scratches on anything, a few weeks ago I was in the basement at work and was using the flashlight, this time without a case and somehow slipped out of my hands and got a 1mm scratch to the plastic bezel on the side was extremely angry at myself!! But it's not bad you can't really notice it unless you look very closely.
I got out of my car ,phone on lap forgot it was there(n00b mistake) boom on concrete longest 5 seconds of my life lol and I pick it up just a chip no case or anything I was really impressed it fell on the corner no other damage

Yea I was super careful the first couple of months with the rezound(no drops). Now its been dropped a few times maybe only once on concrete. It's a pretty durable phone when it's in a CASE. I've had a case since day one. I know u might not like the feel but you'll get used to it

A coworker of mine bought a brand new iphone.
It was a nasty rainy day when he picked it up. On the way back to work, he received a call (he had had the phone maybe 10 minutes).
He answered the call & layed the phone in his lap. When he pulled into work, he totally forgot the phone was in his lap & got out. The phone fell into a large puddle & he stepped on it smashing the screen all in one motion.

Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
I also dropped it out of my lap when getting.out of my car. This must be very common. Mine has a small chip in on corner, about 2mm. Oh well, I refuse to use a case.
Rezound, rooted, loving it.
Don't your cars have cup-holders? I keep my phone there at all times.
What I have a bad habit of doing, is at night when I'm chillin on the couch I'll have my phone sitting on my lap on top of the blanket that is covering me. Then when get up to go to bed I'll forget about it and yank the blanket off. Usually the phone just falls on to the carpet, no big deal. On my old Incredible, I did this and it flew up in the air and flipped a bunch of times and landed flat on it's back on my padded ottoman/coffee table. My CM7 lockscreen came on when it landed. My wife looked at me and said "That was pretty good, now do it again". Lol
first day i had my rezound, i dropped it off the counter at my store..so like a 4 foot drop lol..landed on hardwood floor..but was fine. i was so mad at myself i just screamed the F bomb as it fell hahaha

This exact same story happened to me before too! You just need to replace the word "phone" with "pipe", and then replace "received a call" with "smoked bowl". =P
LOL
this thread has inspired me to get a case. my inc2 was cheap enough to just buy another in the off chance that something terrible happened, but not this puppy. besides, it's already massive. what's another couple millimeters on each side, right?

I strongly recommend the OtterBox case for whatever phone you have. I have one for this, my fascinate, the droid 2 i gave my mother-in-law. Besides the extended battery for long trips and when I wanna use the **** outta my phone, the defender was the best thing I got for it. Two days after I got the case I dropped my phone on concrete and kicked it while at work and watched it bounce across the room, woulda been dead without the case.
If it falls out of my truck, it's easily a 4' drop. I'm careful with my phones, never had a major drop with my Incredible, but Otterbox Commuter arriving tomorrow just to be on the safe side.

HP Touch pad cm9 and cornerstone
I dropped my phone on the concrete sidewalk. While walking/listening to some music my hand caught the headphone wire and pulled my phone out of my jacket side pocket dropping it onto the ground Luckily I had an Incipio case and it fell on a corner. The case corner cracked and saved my phone
I hated cases too but after that incident I will always get a case for my phone.

So yea slipped off the surface of where I sat it down for a split second .sure enough there was a bucket of water to the side on the floor ,slipped and dunked right into the water .Now it keeps trying to come on constantly and screen flashes .looks like cloud under the screen of water still stuck in it .do u guys think it will work again ?is the screen gonna bleed everywhere with water still stuck in it ? Make sure you leave it off for now!!!!
One thing I did with some success was to use a hairdryer on HIGH and blast it in any opening I could find until it was too hot to touch.
That would bring it to 60C to 70C which is within storage temp.
Once you done that as well as the rice treatment try turn on.
If no success, turn off again immediately and try hairdryer and rice again.
Cheers
You might also want to try and take the back off so the water evaporates properly and disconnect the battery.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
The issue is that he can't pull the battery, and presumably can't turn it off because the water is forcing it to switch on.
Personally id recommend having removed the cover and disconnect the battery then leave it in rice, but it may be a little late for that now.

My mom dropped her S3 on our driveway while walking in. When she found it the next day, it was face down and endured 8 hours of rain/freezing rain while being protected by an otterbox commuter case. The camera was all messed up, the back button didn't work and there were many other problems with it. We put it in a bag of rice for two nights, and several days later, everything worked perfectly again! No problems since.
Once it dries out, things might work normally again.

The issue here, is with the current that the N10 battery is capable of pushing, if the wrong bits get shorted you can kill something.
As long is that doesn't happen, these is no reason a good drying out shouldn't fix it, but as I say, that is as long as nothing has become electronically damaged due to shorting from the water.
I don't know how well sealed the N10 is, nor how quickly it was pulled out of the bucket of water, but it's possible water didn't get too far in and might be ok.
The proper way to go would be along these lines:
-take the device apart ASAP (too late for that) -> http://www.powerbookmedic.com/wordpress/2012/11/16/google-nexus-10-take-apart-first-look
-disconnect the battery
-rinse everything that go wet with distilled water and isopropanol (100%)
-let dry for 48h+

Am I the only one who pictured a Benny Hill scenario playing out reading OP's post? Feel sorry for op but what are the chances a random bucket of water is directly in the way of a $500 tablet? That's like accidentally setting yourself on fire and trying to extinguish it with the liquid in a gallon water jug that is somehow filled with gasoline instead.
Don't use hairdryer. If water didn't touch crucial parts, blowing the water from side to side will just increase your chance of doing so. Disassemble, battery disconnect, rice bag and 48hrs is your best bet. If you have a oven able to do 100-120F, you can leave it in there overnight so it dries quicker, but time is not of essence here.

I was just gonna say that. If you do it, do it, its immoral. But then promoting your immorality is just kinda weird..
Fraud? Immoral? Not everyone is made of money or born with a gold spoon in their mouths. Big companies like Google and Samsung can take a hit of 500 bucks but for some of us 500 bucks is a big deal and maybe someone might not even be able to get another one if this kind of crap happens to them.
We arent in school any more, gotta get by one way or another. I gave him an idea of what I would do, I didnt put a gun to his head thats all he should do.

Made of money, golden spoon in my mouth? That's one heck of an assumption. I didn't have anything given to me. As a matter of fact, I work my tail off for everything I have. Fact is, if you can't afford to replace it, you couldn't afford it in the first place.
Fraud? Yes.
Immoral? Yes.
And just because Google and Samsung are huge, multi billion dollar companies, doesn't mean they owe you a damn thing.

Indeed, mine progressed today to the point the screen does not register any input. I can't wait for my replacement to arrive, my old 3GS is exceptionally painful to use.
I've a chip in the plastic next to the volume rocker, and a small split where the glass casing and sides meet. Fixed by cheap case.

Agree with the others here. The phone is just too damn slick to put a case on, for me at least. I love a naked phone and will take the chance. However I try to be extremely concious and careful when taking it in and out of my pocket. If its not in there then its on my desk nice and flat nowhere near an edge lol.
I'm not gonna push my luck though. Glass back and glass front? I feel like if it hit the ground in any way shape or form its gonna break. Super slick phone but super delicate. However I wouldnt have it any other way.

I don't consider this good advice. My phone slipped out of my jacket pocket as I was taking it off and it hit the ground with a bottom corner which sent an arched crack up the bottom portion of my phone in the glass. It's not shattered or falling out of the phone, but it's still fragile.

I have ONE Cruzerlite case for the LG OG that I'm giving away free to anyone in the Continental US. I accidentally ordered two when I bought mine. It's the Purple one with our pal Andy Android on the back.
Here's how I'm going to do it.
Tell me your OMG I broke my phone by dropping it story.
I'll put the names of all the people who posted a story in this thread in a hat and draw a name out.
The drawing will be one week from today, And if I can get over my camera shyness I'll announce the winner on video.
Save yourself a few bucks, get a cool case, entertain me with your story.
Simple huh?
Now get to it.
I put my phones on the dining room table since my kids can't get up there. Well one day my 1 year old somehow learned to climb up the chair and on the table. She started pretend making calls like daddy does and yelled to show me. As I ran to get her off the table she dropped the phone onto it and it bounced onto the kitchen tile. Shattered screen and all on a caseless phone. Sad day .
I have never actually broken a phone by dropping it. I did brake a phone because I left a frozen water bottle on the desk next to my phone and as it melted the condensation made a puddle right under my phone. That sucked.

Back when I was 14 I was rocking an lg flip phone. First cell phone ever because I wasn't as fortunate as 7 year olds are today. So as usual I was getting yelled at to clean my room, so I started with laundry. During the spin cycle I was feeling a little depressed because it seemed like no one was texting me back. I reached for my back pocket to get my phone... Sweatpants. I ran to the washer and opened the lid to search for the jeans I had absentmindedly taken off to wash, and there was my phone, still all snug in my back pocket. :c irresponsibility at its finest!
(Purple is my favorite color so its the only reason I'm sharing this story that I've barely told anyone.)

So, I haven't really broken my phone before. However, I was reading on XDA that someone was giving away a purple case to someone with a good story of how they broke their phone. Since I didn't have a story, I decided to grab my phone and proceed to smash it against the wall. Even with a case on, it shattered into several pieces. Weird thing is, I looked down and my phone still looked perfect, but my co-worker was really confused why I picked up her phone and threw it at the wall...oops!
NOTE: No phones were harmed in this excuse for a "joke"--I just thought I'd fit in better if I had a good story. To top it off, I don't even want the case (purple isn't for me ).

NOTE: No phones were harmed in this excuse for a "joke"--I just thought I'd fit in better if I had a good story. To top it off, I don't even want the case (purple isn't for me ).

Ell oh friggin ell.
HTC Inspire had a rough time living at the fraternity house last year. Got drunk and decided to play basketball with it. Threw it a lot of times without a case and all was fine. Decided if I was gonna keep doing it, it'd be smart to put my Otter box Defender on. Well the first time I threw it with the case, the screen cracked lol. Few months went by and we had a slip and slide down a hill with a hot tub at the bottom. Once again, I was drunk and went down it 3 times with it in my pocket and it survived. The fourth time finally killed it. Everyone told me to put it in rice, but I was so drunk, I thought they said ice. So I put it in my freezer and passed out. My roommate came in and he was like wtf. But that's the death story of my inspire. Don't need the case but I thought I'd share and that's really cool of you to give it away.

This is hilarious, thank you for sharing.
The inspire was built like a freaking tank
I was at work one day. I had this cheap phone on metro PCs. I forgot the name of it. I went to the bathroom to take a ****. I checked all my messages did some Facebook etc etc. I put the phone back in my pants pocket. Wipe my ass. Stood up n flushed the toilet at the same time. My phone feel out my pocket into the toilet n actually got flushed down the toilet to the point of no return.

Just got my phone two days ago and kept admiring the beautiful carbon fiber back. I've been super careful especially at work to keep it perfect.
Today I'm getting ready for work and get everything together, throw my phone in my shirt pocket. As I'm heading out, my cat meows at me to say goodbye (like he always does). So of course I reach down to pick him up and say goodbye. And almost in slow motion, I see my phone slide out. Damn you sexy, slippery phone!!
I had a choice, drop the cat and save the phone, or keep my cat happy and bite the bullet.
Obviously I wouldn't throw my cat, besides I don't think I could have saved the phone in time.
So now, I still admire the carbon fiber back along with a big crack in the middle.
Later I'm at work and my phone is on my toolbox and my boss calls. I pick the phone up and what do you know, damn you sexy, slippery phone... slides through my fingers. :banghead: Luckily I catch it between my toolbox and thigh. I think to myself, whew close one!
After getting off the phone with my boss, I examine the back, and the crack splintered.
At least my cat will still love me when I get home today.

Forgot to also add how I fried the headphone jack. Never have your phone charging and plug it up to a 15" sub/party speaker with a 1600W amp on the back hooked up to 7.1 surround sound. It will shock you and screw up your phone lol

My Atrix 4G fell off the couch arm and shattered my friend's evo charging on the carpet. There's some sort of message in there somewhere im sure. Also not interested in case, got a diztronic, just wanted to share a funny story.
Fun fact, that friend also just bought a sprint LGOG, so that's cool.

Forget the cat, save the OG! Don't they always land on their feet anyway or worst case scenario, saving an OG is well worth one of his nine lives.

Copy/paste from the thread i made the other day:
So i was in the shower with the phone on the sink counter and my alarm started going off, I heard it going off for maybe a straight minute and then all I heard was bam bam PLUNK. the damn thing vibrated itself off the counter bounced off the toilet paper roll straight into the toilet... Completely emerge the phone was still on, alarm was still going, and everything still works!! (after taking it apart and letting a fan blow on it for a bit)
Also, i ordered this case in turquoise and it never came. I called them and they never called me back.. Id rock purple though lol

Why does it NOT surprise me that you have a purple case?

I saw a girl named Nikki...
My import Galaxy Nexus (fresh out of the UK) jumped out of my hand while getting my bag out of my trunk. SLAP! Glass front right on the pavement.
