I have a g3 with xxjpf. I wanted to know if there is a way to add the 5 lock screen mod option without flashing with a custom rom.
Its my first post in xda....
SORRY IF I POSTED UNDER THE WRONG SECTION !!!
clarkkov said:
Yes there is, but you will have to ask the devs of the cROMs to provide the mod sepparately. They keep it as an exclusivity of their ROMs. You could also ask someone who uses a cROM to upload the mod from their phone.
You can get the android.policy.odex file from my theme to get the Android stock lock screen.

They're not keeping it private! You just have to be deodexed and by using "Kitchen application" you can do it in a stock rom.

I don't get it
You said that the devs keep the mod for their custom roms.
It's not like this. You don't have to ask anyone! Kitchen is free to download so you can mod your rom the way you want! Take a look here.

the best rom is cm7.2 by T.A. and MIUI RC3 by nims11 ( both are tied on first place )
they are the best roms not some random rom which has a superfluos name which hardly describes the crap features it has

so how did you make the nexus rom for it?
The issue is that I do not own the phone, but I am looking at porting CM to MTK6589.
MIUI porting is a bit different, it would not involve kernel compiling per se I believe (CM either, but I would like to).
To give it a go, I would need info from here:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Doc:_porting_intro
So your ROM version, partition info etc.
When I manage to port to a device I own, I can give it a go.

i compiled my first recovery based on cm 10.1 for Thl W8.
I have no easy way to push the image to the phone to test.
If it works, I can start to create a recovery for this phone based on sources.
I would need that info I requested.
Are you able to post the build.prop file and the partition dump?
Look at the page with instructions I posted earlier.
Meantime I look for an easy way to flash that recovery, somehow sp flashtool does not read the scatter file created by mtkdroidtools .

So, like I requested before, please :
- post your build.prop file
- post identification stuff of the device, like screen resolution, memory and recovery.fstab (or the recovery image)
- in general take a look at the link I posted before and read it, so you know what info is needed :
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Doc:_porting_intro
The reason I ask is because there are at leat 2 different versions, 1 had 960x480 screen and 1/4gb ram/rom, the other 1280x720 and 2/8.
They obviously at least have different partitions and displays and perhaps even other different hardware.
You can also post a full working ROM on dropbox or something.
thanks
P.S. for the needed tools, see here:

This is a CWM 6.0.3.3 which works on my device.
Use SP Flash Tools 3.13 something to flash.
My scatter file is attached, please compare it with yours.
Needless to say perhaps, but still: this is on your own risk.
You may damage your device if you do not know what you are doing.
Bricking it is not my fault!
So think before you act.
If you try: please give feedback if it works.
If does it is the same device: N9389 5.3", 960x480 (qHD) , 1 gb ram, 4 gb rom.

Hi,
Well I am partly motivated by your offer, but I enjoy Android and Linux hacking.
Let's hope those attempts will lead to something.
How about LewaOS? There are good porting guides for that.
I will try to look for MIUI or CM in the weekend.
Initial CM would miss dual sim support.
Maybe MIUI is easier, because some work has been done.
Well, I'll see.
Don't overestimate the complexity, if you have CM 6 and made it yourself, porting a rom is doable I suppose ?
cheers
Hey, just want to give out a quick warning to everyone coming from stock to AOSP builds starting today
Before downloading a ROM make sure you decrypt your phone if you have it encrypted, as an example let's say the external SD is encrypted and you go from stock to AOSP without decrypting your external SD you will not be able to access those files and will be unusable unless you decrypt on the stock setup you encrypted on or wipe the card completely removing the files
This may be common sense to some but I'm sure not everyone will think twice when they see an AOSP thread

I'm not a dev but in pretty sure the kernel would have to be made for the G3 in the first place, just going and bumping a kernel I'm not sure is what you want to do.
Ok cool I guess me and you and many others will just have to wait until AOSP or CM makes a bump'd version
Thanks for the help today

still better than nothing. 99% of the time you'll be able to boot into recovery, stock or TWRP. And you can also flash it in TWRP if you remove the getprop and assertprop lines in the updater-script. If you ever hard brick your phone and can't boot into recovery, just use tenfar's tool.

Whatever. this is not topic. I'll vote.
Edit: i've checked polls option. Do want to choose "Cleaner user interface and skin"? If it is yes please tell us that you were joking. There is one option to choose which "Greater dev support for custom ROMs". If there are too many roms all other options will be already.

Listen buddy I did not create this poll. In case you can't read, the poll was made by an official ZTE mod and all i asked of you to do was vote so that they would be able to pitch it to R&D so we would have the possibility of getting near stock android for nougat. I have no idea what you mean when you ask if I was joking. Joking about what? I didn't ask you to "choose" the cleaner ui option, just to vote. I also didn't ask you to come here and start whining. Well for me most important is to have good custom ROM support... Then we're free to develop whatever we want: from AOSP till MIUI, the whole free world of custom dev... Then wouldn't need to care about stock anymore!
But hey, let's vote for whatever we see and take the 500 votes limit
About stock roms: I bought a lower spec Zte phone (Blade V770) earlier this year that has pure stock Android and is flawless. It runs stock Marshmallow, has Dolby audio and also amazing battery life. It was a 200 euros phone so there shouldn't be any problems for them to give us stock Android.

Awesome someone on the community just told me. Hopefully this gets as a lot more votes. As of now we still need 200 more!
I hope the frontpage thingy works. We need to spread the word more. Get 500 votes together, I voted already.
Please spread the word.
