I have installed the Superclean ROM into my phone and a Verizon Fascinate kernel. My phone will no longer boot into Android nor CWM red. Is there anything I can do to restore it back to its original state? Nandroid backup never wokred for me so I haven't been able to create a back up.
If/when i can get this cleaned up is there any ROMs or kernels for the Showcase on Cell South?
Phone:Samsung Showcase 2.2.1 (Froyo)
Carrier:Cell South

Have you found any standalone radio/modem tar. files that you flash via Odin for the showcase?
Sent from a depraved XDA junkie and flashaholic
The only thing I flashed with Odin was CWM red and the rest went from there I don't know much about radios and nothing about modems. Is there any way I can get my phone back to a working state?

There is an all in one package for the fascinate that you could flash but it contains a fascinate modem. Therefore you would have to flash a showcase modem to your phone if the all in one works. You would need to find a standalone showcase modem. A modem is what allows your phone to make calls, transmit and receive data and work with the gps. This is all theoretical of course, I don't know if the all in one for the fascinate would work but what do you have to lose. Here is the link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1017817 Like I said, this contains a fascinate modem so you need to flash a showcase modem via odin after doing this. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS WILL WORK. But, this method has fixed my phone when nothing else could. I am about to be unable to communicate anymore for a little while but I will check this thread again to see how you are.
Alright I'll try this in the coming hour. Is there a way I can PM you to see tell you if it worked or not or can you check back later? Thanks

Well its not like you have much to lose now but I doing think its likely anything here would work for you. I'm assuming your phone and carrier is similar but kernels for one line just isn't intended to be tried on anything different.
Really hope it works but I think your phone may need to have an accident and get replaced. When you get a replacement or if you get yours working again, try to stay clear of roms/kernels for other devices.
Well, I just got it replaced over the counter as a manufacturer defect... lol thanks everyone!

For the record, the Showcase is as similar to our phones as it is to the Mesmerize.

So I flashed nero v3 a few days ago. How would I go about flashing to v5. Would I have to odin back to stock then go to v5 or can I just flash straight from v3.

I never odin back and have never had issues. You can just flash over it. If there are a lot of bugs you can flash or odin back to stock and then flash the new Rom. Just be sure to disable voodoo if you go back to stock. Also, make sure any time you flash a new Rom to let it sit for 10 min then reboot to eliminate bugs and smooth it out. Hope this helps.

+1 except for the never Odin back part. Not that DCrozier28 is wrong but I always do it. The developers will usually tell you if it's necessary or not. For the most part dev to dev is pretty safe but for instance V5 was written purely based on KA5 so it might have some bugs flashing over V3 which was designed before KA5 was released.
To some Odin is an unnecessary step to me it's more peace of mind and an extra 5 minutes.
I have also found I have WAY more success to on the letting the ROM sit after 1st boot then reboot. Some roms and phones don't immediately load and situate everything, a good 10-15 minutes then reboot ensures everything is where it needs to be before you start loading stuff back up.
I had this same question, glad I found this post.
Also whats the best way to backup sms? I am just assuming use titanium and then restore once the new rom is there?
One thing I missed about my Touch Pro 2 was microsoft my phone. It was a easy backup and sync. I am still fairly new to android but there has got to be something similar.

Like post above it could be Rom specific. Some debate may say to odin to stock but they will probably list it. I have flashed different roms over another with out ever odin to stock and never had an issue. Or at least issues that really bothered. Seems like its all about personal experience and opinion/preference.

It's been stated it's a matter of personal preference and opinion unless the developer states otherwise. I personally don't mind taking 5 extra minutes to do the to make sure everything is wiped. The above was just one of hundreds of reasons, I can pick another. I have also PERSONALLY flashed ROM over ROM and had issues. If you have not then you are the almighty among us and I worship thee and will build a golden shrine in your honor.
Every single ROM posted has a disclaimer about it messing up your phone. So in allll due respect to the truly talented developers; these ROM are consistently not perfect ports of official releases and cannot be confirmed as a perfect flash overs once they hit the masses.
My SUGGESTION to a nooby(no disrespect just a fact) person that wold even ask this question is to YES Odin back and start fresh. "Why?" because it will keep the forum cleaner since there will be less room for error and extra, "I flashed V5 over V3 and now I am in a boot loop" or "is my phone screwed???" threads...

every rom has a disclaimer so if you mess up your phone you realize it's not their fault (i.e. you probably did something wrong). it's not because they think their roms are going to break people's phones. the exception being oc kernels that explicitly say (and is obviously typically ignored) not all phones can handle the oc.
you can enjoy wasting your time using odin, but just because you probably messed something up flashing between roms, doesn't mean everyone should follow your silly odin ritual. as you have pretty much summed up, you have no real reason or evidence why someone should odin between roms.
again, all vibrant roms wipe, so odin 'back to stock' will do nothing for you. if someone can't be bothered to read the instructions on flashing a rom (i.e. disable all lagfixes), then they either shouldn't be flashing their phone, or may actually learn from their mistake.

Theres nothing wrong with going odin to stock re-root then flash a rom. It may be a comfort level with some people. TO EACH HIS OWN! Don't be butthurt because someone doesnt do it YOUR way.
there seems too be some complete odins' to get you back to something resembling completely stock but I was actually not wanting the kernel and stock rom as I have changed several things since updating and rerooting so I was hoping that some one would have the odin for the modem/baseband only for ED01, mine is acting up but all else is well and so my phone will at least appear stock to the naked eye....if I need to take it to get worked on etc for minor junk..so if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great!!
It isn't currently possible to get it. If we get a leak of it then maybe... but that is doubtful as it has been released.
We need a full ED01 Odin package to get the modem, or someone that has access to it. There isn't any method that is known to dump a modem from a phone.
Unless you can dump all of /dev/block/ and post it for us to examine.

If you attempt to dump it using dd, you get a small file that isn't anything close to being the full modem. There are a few other partitions that will do the same thing. That method has already been tried.
I was under the impression that EC01 WAS ED01 with the D changed to a C and the buildprop and everything masked to protect the leaker.. I updated to ED01 anyway... But idk anything.

It seems that ED01 modem is different than EC01. I had missed calls issue with EC01 and EB01 modems but ED01 is working flawlessly for me so far and I'm on it since day one. Maybe it's too soon to be sure but I hope I won't have to go back to EA28 modem.
Lol I think we all want the ED01 modem.bin.

Heimdall is open-source, I wrote it
Where the modem goes isn't up to the flashing protocol. It's up to the secondary bootloader, you'd have to reverse engineer it.

Wont' there be a release of then new Community ROM in ODIN form..although the info on the new ROM does not state that it contains a new modem..at this moment at least
have to use Odin to go from EB01 to ED01???
currently running SC 2.9.2 EB01 , themed... its been a while since Ive flashed a ROM because Im running a pretty legit kernel, fast good battery life, but my question is do i have to us Odin to get the ED01 onto my phone before I flash the new community ROM? or like always can I just put it on the SD card and flash from there, of course after doing all the wipes and what not. Curious because I run on a mac which makes using Odin to do things a royal pain in my ass.
Thanks in Advance!
cheers
You can run the comm rom using the eb01 modem you already use. No need to Odin.

I have a Galaxy s2 with BELL that's rooted, custom kernel and custom ROM and im wondering how I can put my phone EXACTLY how it was before I rooted and put my custom rom on it.
I want it exactly how it came when I got it from BELL.
If anyone can help that'd be appreciated.
Thanks,
Well you can get it back to stock, but not "bell stock." The reason being that there is no bell firmware anywhere on the internet yet, you can flash one of the generic european rom from samsung but unfortunately you cannot revert to the bell KG2 that came with the phone...
Awh man..
Whyy hasnt anyone ripped their own stock rom yet
Basically... when its available..IF its available. Would I be able to throw it on and get OTA upgrades again? I really dont see a difference between stock and rooted.. I mean I DO understand what It gives you.. but honestly the phone is already powerful enough that I really dont need to tweak it.

I read somewhere that bell has to actually release a FW update before we have something to go back to, i don't think anyone ripping their rom would work for us. Then again I'm not sure, but as it stands theres literally nothing on the net with bell on it for the GS2 so you are pretty much stuck with the generic european stuff.
To be honest, i think if you want oTA updates you'd be much better off going with a generic european Fw, bell always always takes forever to deliver updates because it has to go through them, i remember it took a while for bell to get froyo on the GS1 when it had been out forever for the european gs1's and it worked fine.

I bought a protection plan at bestbuy so hopefully i can bring it back and they'll give me a new one.. I liked the look and stability of my bell rom kernal etc right now i got villainrom running and it keeps going from hspa+ to 3g etc and its annoying...
Edit: seems to only happen when data is not being used. Makes sense. Battery saving feature maybe? When bell comes out with an update If they ever do, will it also include a kernel update? Making my phone completely bell again. I would like to have my bell account app back lol.

Im just using a rooted kernel off CFROOT, with stock bell KG2 Firmware. Haven't seen a reason to put any modded rom yet, the stock rom actually is perfect, good battery life too. Tempted by CM7 though, I'm constantly tempted to try it.
Hmm yeah when they release a rom you can flash using odin, it will write the kernel, modem etc and your phone will be totally "bell" again. I'm pretty sure you can download the bell account app from market?

So from your backed up bell rom, can you get the 3 files for Odin out of it? Or i guess its not that simple?
Surely if you root, you flash a non-stock kernel? So even a nandroid/CWM backup will not be COMPLETELY stock?
Why is everyone so worried about going back to stock? Just wondering, because the european versions work just as good as the stock one, if not better, because of root.
The real question we should be asking is will Bell or Samsung release the stock files? Im sure they will, and if they don't someone will find a way to extract the stock files.

So right now I'm almost afraid to shut the phone off just in case I can't boot and I have no way to get it back to stock GB.
Mainly what I want to do is make a factory image that I can put somewhere for others to download it. Cause I want to try some things but I can't until telus puts the update up again.

I think Telus was getting all kinds of questions on when it would be available when they had no control over it - so they made a generic upgrade page.
I just tried with Kies and I got GingerBread BUT I'm also staring a long time at a galaxy S screen - lost my clockwork mod recovery as well (back to stock 3E).
Hmmmm - anyone know if this update is still available online somewhere as I have no OTA to get it and of course as the thread says... TELUS has pulled it.

I'm pretty sure to upgrade through the Samsung Kies software, you will have to remove any mods / hacks that you made to your phone.
Best option probably is to flash everything back to Stock, which I did. Then had no problem updating via Kies:

Alright I'll give that a shot tonight, the only 'mod' I have done would be rooting the phone - other than that it is stock at this time.
I guess the one thing I really shouldve mentioned in my first reply is I have the Fascinate 4G with TELUS, is the update specific to the 3G+?

Oh wait! If you have the Fascinate 4G+ (T959P) then you may not want to flash everything back to 2.2.
I'm not 100% sure that it may work with 4G Fascinate.
Can anyone validate the following steps will work on his Fascinate 4G+ ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=923712
They are different phones. If you could get the 3G+ file to flash at all (which I doubt), it would almost certainly semi brick the phone. There is an update section on telus website for fascinate 4G (just below the 3G+ entry) (no update available today). When you see the update available there, you're good to go.
I have the 4g and I won't flash anything made for the 3g. Two different phones. I remember reading a thread about people bricking the 4g while trying to put 3g stuff on it.
Hey guys Long time creeper first time poster.
Anyways i picked up a galaxy note yesterday that was bricked for about $175. The guy had soft bricked it recovery and download were still accessible so i simply used odin to reinstall stock rogers from Da_G's thread. The guy said he bricked it because he had a JB rom on there and wanted to go back to stock but odin froze and thats how the system bricked.
Anyways right now i have the system working and running Stock ICS from Rogers. The current issue i am facing is that there is some sort of issue with the signal. The device jumps between Virgin mobile(my provide) and emergency only. Constantly i cannot get a reliable signal on the phone. Calls constantly fail and messages rarely send.
I have tried flashing the stock radio for rogers from Da_G's thread as well but no luck. The apn is correct and ive tried turning LTE off, no success at all. Does anyone in the community have any suggestions this is a really frustrating problem!
Thanks

Thanks

Flash another ROM on it. And keep in mind, it was sold to you as a brick. Maybe it also had the radio issue before you got it.
You did the ICS update via OTA?
Im downloading this rom now "UCLF6 Base Rom Featuring
The Unofficial FJ-Mod Build #11
"RISE UP!""
Will try it and see if it makes any difference.

From what I see it looks like they use the T-mobile frequencies but I could be wrong. You may need to give a t-mobile modem a try

Here is a link to the thread with the T-mobile modems I suggest reading up a bit in there before flashing. And as long as you are following the directions I don't see why it would not be safe to flash
