So I'm about to order a few bits and bobs too go with the keyboard dock when it arrives don't want top end stuff just things that will work well that people are using, looking for
Bluetooth mouse
USB extension cable for charging
32 or 64 ig SD card with decent write speed
Using an old G model wifi router so an new N model too improve wifi too the TF
Thanks in advance for any advice

Can't say whether 64Gb SD cards are supported on the dock (do you have one?) - I know 32GB cards are the max for the tablet.. perhaps someone else can enlighten about the maximum the dock supports..
For the tablet, I sprung for one of these 16Gb Class 6 microSD cards.. comes with full sized SD card and Memory Stick adaptors which could be handy.. (gives me 32Gb total on the tablet which is way more than enough for me)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0032CJIUG/ref=oss_product
And to ensure I could swap files via usb IF I ever needed to, I got one of these to go with it (a bit pricier than other microSD USB card readers but absolutely TINY so you can kinda leave it on your key ring and forget about it until you need it)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0036DD86G/ref=oss_product
As for WiFi N routers.. the world is your oyster.. really depends on what other features you think you'll want (Security, overall configurability, reputation - for wifi coverage, adsl sync etc.).. and how much you want to spend..
Look at this one..

Just tested this Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, both of them working well... And, BTW, this Bluetooth mouse is Bluetooth 3.0
The dock is listed as supporting SDXC cards, so a 64GB card should work fine (it's what I'll be getting when I get my TF)
Cheapest one I've found (and I think these guys ship to the UK)

A couple of fairly good (Budget) Wifi routers:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/201376 Cable DSL Router.
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/262933 ADSL Router.
I personally always go for the Netgear routers but they do go for a lot more cash. (Although im using the BT HomeHub 2 at the moment which is also good if you are on BT(Unless you attempt 'unlocking' )

I already got gaming controllers xbox 360, ps3 and pc at home, so i wont need another one of those. I will for sure pick up HDMI cable and smart cover or whatever asus will call them. Also thinking of getting the 40pin to usb connector that ASUS makes. A couple other things i left out that are on my wish list that im not quite sure on are... protective screen and extra charging cable.
If anyone disagrees with one of these things, let me know below, i would like to here some opinions. Also if you have any hot items you will picking up to go with your TF201 let me know! Oh sorry for no links, still on my way to 8 posts... when i reach 8 ill come back through and fix them.
Is the dock's SD Card slot an SDXC? If not, there's no point in getting a 64GB SD card.

There's no such thing like a sdxc slot.
Testers haven't found any sdxc cards that didn't work in normal slots.

To utilize the full capacity you buy the firmware has to support SDXC.
Without SDXC support, you can't access beyond 32GB on a card.

SDXC cards are basically SDHC cards formatted to exFat. exFat has to be supported by your OS.
OR just format the card to Fat/Fat32/NTFS. And voilĂ your done.
There is no need for SDXC support. It's only the DEFAULT filesystem (exFat) which needs to be supported to get the support for files > 4GB. (Fat/Fat32 only support files up to 4GB)
Once again, there is no special requirement for SDXC cards. Only the DEFAULT filesystem may not work. There is no problem in using a 128GB Fat32 card in any device that supports SDHC.
I am using a 64GB SDXC in my TF101 dock with no problems, of course I had to reformat to NTFS and it works perfectly. ExFat was not supported by the software, NTFS was a cake walk....
In light of all the recent wifi issues with the Asus Transformer Prime. I got thinking.. Would it be possible for the prime to theoretically use a USB wifi dongle as the receiver through the keyboard dock?
Obviously android since gingerbread has had USB hosting and the ability to use mice, keyboards, game controllers and other devices, but how about a USB wireless networking adapter?
Thoughts?
Interesting thought and I have no idea... For average use wifi suffices but might be a nice option when going to a place where wifi is crap (like vacation house or something).
Iwas thinking the samething. The question is would there be driver issues with the USB device?
Not quite yet
If you are simply talking about a Wireless N Wifi dongle, there would be little gain, While not the best, a properly functioning Prime gets reasonable WiFi performance. Witness mine, which I regularly see 15-20 Mbit downloads speeds, so not great, but certainly acceptable.
If insetad you want a 3G wireless stick, at the present this is not an option. Honeycomb and even ICS do not provide support for these natively, though a rooted device I believe can be made to work with 1 or 2 3G sticks. When talking 3G, the best move is just root your phone and tether to that, but watch to 300 Mb game downloads folks. AT&T will make your head spin with the $ if you go over the measly 2 Gb plan (I was grandfathered in on an "Unlimited' data plan, and lost it... no biggie, they still bust you if you repeatedly use high bandwidth.
Good evening
I was wondering if there is any other thoughts on using a USB WiFi dongle with the prime. The reason I ask is that I note several retailers are starting to get stock in the UK and I am on the verge of purchasing.
The only issue I have is the WiFi range issue as I work on an offshore oil rig which has a WiFi network and I can currently use this within my cabin on a night with my net book to surf the net. However as there are a fair few partitions and a good distance etc between the WiFi router and the cabins, I don't think the Primes WiFi range would be sufficient (based on others posting issues when they are trying to pass through a few walls).
If a USB WiFi dongle could be made to work i would buy a prime tomorrow, otherwise I think I am going to stick with the net book for a while longer and wait for another model / manufacturer with Tegra 3 (I really don't want to follow the crowd and get an Apple!)
Many thanks!
Chris
Should knlw what that could be a good idea. THERES a guy in developement thread named Saturnde. He has made a thread called new or added drivers or something. He compiled a list of new drivers into a zip file for support of new USB devices that aren't normally supported by prime. He said if you want drivers for a particular device tl let him know. He will need name of device n model number or something. Won't hurt to run it past him and see if its feasible or possible. Let us know how it goes.

Can you syggest a wifi dongle that i can use in an android tablet (my tablet's wifi is "broken")
Has anyone here used one of these?
I use my tablet for just about everything so I'm always worried about running out of space.
But with this I could add so much storage space with usb drives, and an sd card.

I have been using OTG to transfer files from and to my galaxy devices and it is working very well
But the sad news is that our note pro cannot give enough power to portable HDD ( the ones i used were 1Tb and 2tb, on my note 3 and my note edge they work but not on the note pro)
You can connect flash memories and anything that consumes low voltage like a mouse or a keyboard or a flash memory

I'm not looking to connect hdd's.
I already have planned what I'm doing.
First of all I'm gonna find some way to strap it to the back of the tablet case, and then, I got 1 for now, ultra fit usb flash drive, which will go in one of the usb ports.
I got a memory stick pro duo adapter which I can slot two of my micro sd cards into, and then stick it in the otg.
And then one micro sd card in an sd card adapter to put in the sd card slot. :3
This thing makes no sense. It's great yeah, but it's weird, it can have three flash drives or usb devices running at once, but when it comes to cards of any kind, you can only use one at a time, even if one is in a usb adapter, it still won't allow two.
It makes no sense, usb all you want, but cards only one. Why?

Maybe the adapter requires extra power that the note pro cannot give
Can you send a picture of what you have and how you connected them to the note pro?
I will try it and see if i am having similar issue
Sorry, just came across this post. Here are several methods I use; a 128Gb Sandisk USB 3 thumb drive [http://a.co/9OVzdu5 ] and a USB 3 OTA adapter [http://a.co/jfMs2Yq ] along with the 128gb micro card in the device. If you need terabytes, get a wireless battery powered portable hard drive [http://a.co/fzM9ZPi], it works on mine. I also had a spare 240gb mSATA card from when I replaced my laptop drive. I bought a case for it and use that - the tablet has enough power to use it. Finally, I have connected a self-powered 2 Tb desktop drive with good results via the OTG cable. It just takes a while when opening your file explorer. Last, but not least, you can connect to your NAS via WiFi [ I use QNAP, and have accessed it from everywhere that I've visited that had good inet speeds via the QNAP apps]
Do you have more info on QNAP? Where to get it for instance? Is it in the Play Store?

QNAP is a hardware vendor for Network Attached Storage units - look on Amazon or NewEgg. I got the empty 2 bay one and loaded some spare drives I had laying around so I have 2 Tbytes mirrored now. Their apps allow remote access for files, music and movies to their devices.

Anyone found a compact microSD card reader that will work with an S7? I've got this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N6ICDGX
But the S7 complains it draws too much power. Specifically it states:
Code:
High-power USB device connected
Cannot access to this device. Connected device needs external power supply.
I can use it with other Android devices without any problems. Specifically a Nexus 7 tablet.
I don't have to use this specific reader, anything would be fine. I'm just after something compact that will also work while the S7 has a case on it. Lots of readers have too much case around them and won't fit into the Neo Spigen case I have on it.
I've used the Samsung micro-to-USB OTG adapter with several garden-variety USB readers and those work with no power warnings. No doubt those consume more power than this.

I've tried this one and it works without reporting the high-power error:

I use the designed-in SD card reader that is standard with several models of HP Pavilion notebook (the SanDisk microSD card-carrier will also work with the same Pavilion notebook models - the carrier is bundled with Sandisk microSD media typically of 32GTB and larger) I use the same-size microSD cards (SanDisk 32GB) in everything that takes microSD - the two notebooks, my Lenovo tablet, and my newest acquisition - a Samsung Galaxy S7; my GNex does not take microSD cards at all).

Which doesn't answer my question. I'm not asking what will read microSD cards. I'm asking what reader will work when PLUGGED INTO THE S7 . Big Difference.

No, why would you ask that?
I want a way to read/write microSD cards using the S7 phone. As in, copy files to/from microSD cards. For situations like travel and wanting to upload a file that's on a microSD from a camera, one that may not have a means to connect via USB directly to a device. Seemed like a pretty simple question that wouldn't have anything to do with an "access point".
Thread cleaned.
Let's try to remain civil please.

There is a microSD reader built into the phone - it is all-internal (the nano-SIM carrier is also a microSD carrier; the microSD mounts underneath the nano-SIM). There is an accessory that you can purchase that opens the nano-SIM/microSD carrier - or you can bend a staple to open the drawer.

There is indeed a card reader in the phone. One that will very likely already be occupied by a memory card. One that would be used during the process of transferring media files to/from standalone microSD cards.
That and constant use of the internal microSD slot is probably a bad plan. I'm not thinking they expect it to be used for swapping cards all the time. Seems a lot smarter to use one of the external ones I've already mentioned above. So, yeah, there's that...
NO Disputing that - However...

That is true of ANY device that takes microSD - it's not a unique dilemma. (In addition to my tablet, S7, and two of my three notebooks - both of which are HP Pavilions.) That has to do with the microSD format itself - it's NOT designed to be a "plug-repeatedly" format - the larger 64GB and above sizes that the S5 and later phones and tablets can swallow only make that more and more obvious. That is why I use the cloud - not microSD - to share common files among my hardware - and with cloud services such as Microsoft OneDrive being both OS-neutral and rather capacious - and especially with devices that don't support microSD at all - such as my GNex - they aren't left out. That is the rather amusing aspect about OneDrive - as long as I have Internet access and a compatible OS (which is every OS except a Linux distribution, a UNIX, or a BSD) I can get to my shared files anywhere - on the planet. (Even on a plane with wi-fi-based Internet access - such as Southwest - and I'm not kidding; I have, in fact, done so.) MicroSD is for files too LARGE for the cloud - or that will stored ONLY on a specific device - that is especially true of the 64GB and larger microSD cards, as they are only compatible with specific devices; while I can use such a microSD with the S7, it's size-incompatible with anything else. Otherwise, I use the cloud - and OneDrive in particular - it's compatible with all my hardware.
Right, so beyond going on about a question I didn't ask, your point?
I've traveled to many places where data services are either unavailable at all, or considerably more expensive than here in the US. That and wanting to avoid lugging along larger format media makes using microSD cards pretty convenient. Having an external microSD (or any other media card format) reader opens up another avenue for managing media.
As for online services, look no further than Photobucket's recent extortion fiasco to understand why depending on such service is not necessarily as glorious as you might expect.
Again, I asked about readers that'd work in the USB socket of the S7. And got a whole lot of entirely unrelated information instead of on-point replies. But after doing a lot of my own research elsewhere, and the purchasing of several bits of hardware, I came back and posted the results. Yet this invites still more unrelated replies. Please folks, I'm sure you think you mean well but a bit more on-topic focus would be greatly appreciated.
The 90s called Asus about them returning the usb2.0 speeds, but I guess no one at the company picked the phone, and now the zenfone 9 is stuck with that.
Or maybe Asus systems designers thought, "let's keep it smaller by saving usb 3.0 or 3.1 speeds because via wifi 6e the phone is already able of doing up to 9.6gbps speeds and wifi is the future."
Can someone do some benchmarks on wifi 6, by locally transferring some big files, and post their results? This is kind of an important factor to know for people who are thinking of shooting many 8k videos, or (what I am thinking of) edit 360 videos via insta360 app, and then being able to transfer large files to the pc.
usb2.0 to transfer those large files is a deal breaker, absence of sd card slot with good speeds could be an alternative, but no: We are left with the wireless options that, theoretically, are the answer but in practice I'd like to see some tests.
Thanks!

All Xiaomi devices even with 12S Ultra also only USB 2.0, OnePlus 10T and even iPhone 14 for example. There are more devices with old spec USB than you might think.
Back to the wifi transfer. I only have wifi 6. Using Asus file transfer and I got about 20 MB/s.
Maybe there is a better way but for now that's what I got
be sure to turn on dual band wifi to maybe get your wifi to hit a gigabit.
