Is it possible to port the widgets that come with motoblur?
The contact widgets are pretty handy. I assume that the widgets are tied to the launcher (like our TWiz widgets), so I imagine the whole launcher would have to be ported. If that is the case, I've attached the launcher apk for anyone capable of determining these things.
If at all possible to port widgets without the Droid X launcher, that would be even better.
This is one of the most annoying launchers on android. Scrolling in between home screens disables the app tray button, and you either have to swipe up on the screen or wait a few seconds to open the app tray. The widgets on the other hand are okay. The droid X's UI was poorly designed and makes the phone feel bigger and clunkier than it really is.

Agreed. The Blur UI also feels sluggish and clunky. It is probably the most hated custom andorid launcher out there.
OP. Unless your willing to pay a dev 100 bucks in advance, nobody is going to do this for u lol.
Touch Wiz is infinitely better. I would actually say TW is better than stock.

TW better than stock? Blasphemy!
I agree on all counts
TouchWiz is one of the best launchers. Launcher Pro is a close second. ADW/LP both don't have the same smoothness with all of the graphics at the highest level like TW does. They look awful compared to TW on default settings and choppy with it looking the same. I don't think you can get LP to display the same level of quality as ADW or TW.

Agreed. I didn't care for the TW launcher in all of the demos i saw of the vibrant, but it really grew on my once i actually used it. It's fast, looks nice, and has smooth animations. Sorry OP if I sounded upset in my first response. I also have the droid X (for work) and think it's one of the biggest dissapointments out there. Moto nailed the build quality and screen size, but they stopped there. Terrible contrast, colors, poor UI, feels slow, 2D stutters, etc. It upset me to see the droidX voted more desirable than the vibrant on gizmodo today. People are morons. Yet it benches higher than the Vibrant because it has faster write speeds. Lol.
Moved to the Q&A sub-forum.
I understand that it was a development request, but we still want to keep the development sub-forum for threads which actually have development in them. If this gets anywhere, I will move it back.
As far as the launcher itself... I don't like it, either.
I haven't tried adw on this phone....mainly because I don't care about themes. But I use launcherpro plus mostly instead of touchwiz. There are a few things I like better about tw but lpp's dock is so much cooler. I would never consider motoblur on this phone but that's just me.
ha, well let me rephrase my request since everyone seems to hate the blur launcher.
I primarily want the droid x/motoblur widgets, but I assume they are attached to the launcher, so I requested the whole launcher to be ported.
If it is possible to port the widgets without the launcher, then that would be better. OP edited.
I wonder if the launcher requires the moto framework. If so, then it would require a whole ROM port, unfortunately. Let's hope not.
Given the features of TouchWiz... and the inherit delays for updates... what do you prefer? The features/UI... or the timely updates?
I prefer TW. It definitely adds a bit more functionality and some eye candy. The handy toggles in status bar, better clock, calculator, calendar etc are all nice. Also I like widgets like feeds and updates and daily breifing. They are light and nothing similar that aggregates multiple functions in one widget is available in market. And oh I cannot live without program monitor widget/task manager!
TW4 really brings some nice visual improvement and polish to the launcher. Dont know we will ever get it in Vibrant.
I would question the logic that TW is the reason for delayed updates when international galaxy S models are getting almost timely updates. In my opinion Samsung and TouchWiz should not be blamed for delayed updates in US. There is definitely carrier politics involved.
Stock for me. I don't use the widgets much and usually end up deleting them from ROMs even before in install a new one. And one big one for me is that I can't stand a side scrolling app drawer and vertical option in TouchWiz doesn't satisfy my vertical preference.
I think the best of both worlds (sorta) is TouchWiz coupled with ADW EX. For the reasons above
Tw is fine for me just don't like the launcher so I switched it w/ eugene's stock one and now its fine

I am one of the few people who prefers TouchWiz over Stock Android. For me, Touchwiz is a perfect mix of the Iphone and Android. There are some features of the iphone that I really like such as the horizontal scrolling and the four icons at the bottom. That really makes a big difference. I like how with Touchwiz there are just the four icons at the bottom which make everything very easy when going to the main things you use. Also, TouchWiz was not really made to appeal to die-hard fandroids. In fact, it was probably made more than not to make it easier for people to switch from Iphone to Android. This way, more people buy Samsungs in the transition between Iphone and Android instead of HTC or Motorola or LG for that matter. I hope that was enough.
:complicated:
I like aosp better but id gotten used to tw for a while and it was quite mice... however ive never had a rom w/tw that feels entirely fluid so i ended up on cm7 with launcher pro to satisfy my ocd.
Tw is nice tho, if it were a bit more stable... just take into account that i liked it the way in came and i ended up using launcher pro when i had aosp.

IMHO the gingerbread launcher in the android market seems to be the best UI for me. Its sleek, snappy, and overall a great daily.

Does this sort out the huge font in the notifications? If not, can you change that please?
this is just the a task bar theme for now will do more tonight, just wanted to release the taskbar theme since there were a few threads on it will do all the icons and have it done in a few days, also will do the notifications at some point in my bust week.
so far loving this theme, any chance that you will also change the clock and the settings page to look like stock honeycomb too?
Woohoo! Now I can update. I can't stand the TouchWiz theme, looks like I'm going backwards in technology.

The bar icons, the clock, and the settings page are probably the only things holding me back from sticking with the TW ROM.... I put Calkulin's deodex'd version a few days ago and was back to the vanilla 3.1 in a matter of 10 minutes! It really looks horrible and needs to be reverted!

So you're willing to give up all the speed and functionality improvements that touchwiz provides because of some icons and colors?

I think it's humorous that people think there were so many improvements from ADDING stuff to the vanilla 3.1 that shipped with the 10.1.... show me 3 people who have had better Quadrant scores after adding a new UI, because I really didn't see it for the 10 minutes I had it on my Tab before going right back to my backed up stock ROM.
And yes, if I overclock my stock 3.1, why WOULDN'T I want to keep it over this silly UI upgrade???

I don't have a ton of apps on my tab, but I get better performance with stock Android than the TW update.
The only improvement I see is the browser. I can use dolphin to fix that, and the new look is very unappealing to me. I also get better home screen performance on standard honeycomb.

1. Stock quadrant scores are around 1500. Touchwiz quadrant scores are 2300.
2. With touchwiz, the galaxy tab 10.1 is now the only honeycomb tablet with no keyboard lag in the browser. Samsung fixed something in the webkit engine or something. Stock honeycomb on the galaxy tab 10.1 and every other tab in existence has the lag.
3. The samsung Widgets are fantastic.
The killer feature for me was fixing the browser lag. I can now finally type on sites like XDA without wanting to break my tab in half.
But the point at my previous post was that I was shocked that people who remove touchwiz because they dididnt like some icons and colors. This is a computer, not a fashion accessory. Did you buy a tablet to do stuff with it, or for it to look pretty?

This is ridiculous, but since I'm bored, I'll play along.......
Prove it - saying Quadrant scores are X doesn't mean anything to me. I said that in the reply, but you just told me what you thought they were. I ran Quadrant on mine stock and it did 22XX, so I don't know where you're getting this 1500 score..... I got that with a deodex'd and OC'd Captivate, a single core PHONE.....
Two words (that have already been said above) - DOLPHIN BROSWER.... I don't use Dolphin because I really don't see any lag that everyone else is talking about. I have a 4GHz OC'd Quad Core PC, so it isn't like I don't know what a fast electronic device is.....
Widgets..... seriously? so THAT'S what's important on this list? You're talking about comparing this to a fashion accessory (which I agree it's not), and you're talking about widgets??? Really? This is NOT a computer, btw.... my Dell Inspiron Duo tablet IS a computer. A 10.1" touchscreen computer running dual boot Windows 7 and Android 2.2. THIS, however, is something that should work quickly, which I feel it really does already, and look attractive. If you didn't want something that looks attractive, you should have saved your money and bought a Transformer - cheaper looking screen, thicker and heavier device, and you can OC that thing and have all the widgets you like without having to worry about people "complaining" on here about this being a "fashion accessory"
And look at this, I'm not the only one who thinks so:
This update brought some new widgets called Live Panels along for the ride, and honestly, what can I say about them? They're widgets. They have the same look and feel of the other features in TouchWiz UX, but using them is purely optional. I opted to [stay] with the widgets that I was using prior to the update, as I found Live Panels to be much too large for my taste.
From an aesthetic aspect, one of the most drastic changes that came with this update is the Settings menu. It shed its sleek black-and-blue Honeycomb look for a coat of white and some new cartoon-y looking icons. Much like the updated Calendar and Email apps, it's not bad, just different.

They also say all the same things you were saying about the speed improvements and what not, but I'm not interested in making something function faster than it already is while losing the form - you're a car guy, it sounds like, so what if you junked up your Evo X while making it faster? You've already got a fast car, so why not making it look cheezy AND fast at the same time? Yeah, I wouldn't do that with either of my performance vehicles, I don't know many that would......

1) The speed improvement on touchwiz is undeniable... I'm sorry, but Touchwiz is WAY faster and a hell of a lot less buggy. On stock 3.1 (again, right out of the box) I had my browser crash no less than 20 times during around and hour of browsing. It also soft booted 3 times during this period. None of this has happened on Touchwiz. I did not run any quadrant tests, but immediately after installing touchwiz I noticed the speed improvement. No scrolling/transition lag, etc.
2) Dolphin for Tab did not fix the typing lag on 3.1 - Right out of the box I installed it any tried it out. It lags as bad as the stock browser.
3) Why do you care if he like the widgets? If he loves the widgets, that is reason enough to go with Touchwiz
Not it may seem like I am defending Touchwiz. In fact, overall, I really dislike the changes. What I am saying is, touchwiz is, in fact, faster than stock honeycomb. However, the redesign is absolutely terrible. Honeycomb went from modern and sophisticated, to blocky and cartoonish. I would absolutely love the speed and bug improvements without the new UI. As much as I want to go back to stock 3.1, the bugs are forcing me to stay with touchwiz.
EDIT Just ran some benchmarks:
Stock 3.1 Honeycomb: 1448
3.1 Honeycomb Touchwiz: 2267
Like I said, Touchwiz is faster
+1 to better quadrant scores with TW. Stock was in 1500s, TW 2200s and TW plus pershoot's kernel hit 2800!
But seriously, can we get back to the thread title: stock theme for TW. Many including myself would find TW rom + stock theme the ideal for the moment.
I mean, with roms and themes and all, it is for each his own, and this thread is about stock theme for tw.
Hello everyone,
For like 2 year now I still have iPhone 3G which was very relaxing (but now slow) so when I thought of update I thought about getting Android
So I got the Galaxy S2, It's a great phone with great hardware but I really guys dont know what exactly to tell you or what to say
but I find iPhone way more relaxing than Android and I really can't tell why
maybe the colors maybe the design of the android it self I really dont know
even though a lot of apps are available and everything is customizable but still
something is wrong for me and I dont know what it is, the motion and effects of the iphone are smoother or just better and gives you this great feeling and its not what it is on android
Also the keyboard, even though my screen is 4.3 inches and the keyboard is larger but I find that iPhone's keyboard is better it just feels good
My hope is very high with ICS 4 that Google would take care of UI and UX better than that, also organizing everything to make it easier or something
I know I'm not accurate but I just wanted to tell you guys to tell me what you really think and if its me only or everyone and also if you have a solution for this
Thanks

Iphone uses a very high resolution IPS LCD screen ("retina" is just a fancy marketing word for that), not AMOLED based like the Samsung phones (thus color reproduction will not be the same). If you don't like the default colors, try another theme (system themes require root to change, launcher themes do not).

Try a different launcher. Something like Go Launcher is pretty close the iphone. If that's not enough, try the MIUI ROM (requires root) for your phone if you haven't. MIUI is as close as you will get period to having an iphone while still having an android phone.

Try another keyboard than the one the phone comes with (such a swype or swiftkey)? Generally the stock keyboard sucks.
Most iphone users that just start on android are not aware of the many replacement options (or if they are, they're not aware of specific ones that would solve their issues).
There's a saying that goes something like "If one is given infinite choices, some people will never be happy (since that they will forever think there is something better than what they currently have), but if one is told what choices they have, then they just grin and bear it, because that's all there is."
First thanks for your reply
but I already have Go Launcher and its okay for now
but actually I would like to install MIUI but I have a problem, I dont have a SD Card on my Galaxy S2 its just the internal memory so is there's anyway to install it without SD Card just using the internal memory ?
in both ways I will wait for android 4 I read about it and its really interesting that Google noticed that they have issues with their UI and I hope they solved this issue
Anticipating the release of TSF Shell Pro, the fancy UI that is scheduled to be released today on the Android Market.
Anyone know what rom they are going to use with this UI? Assuming AOSP may be better then Sense for this, but not really sure. Perhaps even a really light weight AOSP. Does anyone know if it runs on ICS?
I will most likely be running it on MIUI seems like a good start.

LOL, its a launcher which can run on any phone with any ROM, it doesnt matter if its sense,AOSP,Touchwiz, blur or anything. The only requirement will be that the device, on which you are running it, should have a specific version of android. Most of the apps require android versions 2.1 and above. Now it depends upon the developer of the app whether he has made it compatibe with ICS or not. But it will work on Gingerbread as most of the apps do.

Simply just wondering what rom people were going to use it on. It certainly doesn't matter which however running it on a bloated Sense rom may not yield the same snappy performance that AOSP has.
TSF is the launcher, but you obviously still get the notification bar of the native rom your using, some fit better then others with this rom.
I tried it on Eternity 3.0 and MIUI. It seemed a bit speedier on MIUI but keeping it on Eternity for the 3d cam.
I gotta say, it runs exceptionally well on just stock Sense. I'm kinda impressed. Needs some tweaking to be sure, and more features to justify the price, but it's a good start.
