Hello people
Here are some Framework Mods I have made myself using UOT Kitchen
These include Battery Mods/Icon Mods etc...
YOU MUST BE ROOTED TO TRY THESE
Instructions:
-Download which ever you would like to try
-Make a backup of your original Framework-res.apk somewhere in your SD
-Rename downloaded file to Framework-res.apk
-Using Root explorer copy the downloaded framework it into System/app (can be just System)
-Set permissions to
1-1-0
1-0-0
1-0-0
(Like you would a normal app to system/app)
-Now move the downloaded Framework-res.apk with the permissions set to system/framework and overwrite the backedup original one
-Do the same as above with System ui.apk but put it in System/apps
-Reboot and it should be done!
P.s I am not familiar with ADB so if someone would like to post a way to do this using ADB feel free

If you get in a bootloop then go into one of many threads that explain how to use flashtool to flash stock firmware

WARNING: I've added this to my script and for some reason it has an adverse effect on the "n" button and Lock Screen if used BEFORE you complete the SetupWizard !!!
WARNING: Again BE WARNED if you do this mod before you finish the setup wizard you will loose the functionality of your "n" button and Lock Screen !!!
I have a feeling poster before me copied and pasted this from somewhere because notice how in his first sentence he says "Phone.apk and TelephonyProvider.apk" but then his script says "Mms.apk"....what happened to Phone.apk because there is no Mms.apk in the system folder on any Nook I have. So below is the corrected script and also this entire process in done in dos instead of in adb;

adb shell mv /system/app/Phone.apk /system/app/Phone.OLD
adb shell mv /system/app/TelephonyProvider.apk /system/app/TelephonyProvider.OLD

There is no adverse effect from doing this & it's confirmed after while in NookTools there is no Cell Standy service running.

Just use Root Explorer; rename those two files to anything else and reboot. Really, you could just remove them, renaming is just a precaution.

I've been playing angry birds for 30 minutes and only lost 4% battery life. Seems to be awesome.

Try capitalizing the file names.
Not to beat a dead horse, but this can easily be done in Root Explorer. All you're doing is renaming two files.
Not to be a cheapskate, but is there a free version of Root Explorer or a similar app that will do the same?

1-copy framework-res.apk that you want to replace to the root of your sdcard (make sure it's in root)
2-extract reframe.zip(attachment) to root of your sdcard
in adb shell, use this command:

sh reframe.sh
your phone will reboot. and done! your framework-res.apk replaced safely.
Original framework-res.apk backed up as framework-res.apk.orig in /sdcard

ops.if you have working rootshell, you can replace it using rootshell. but, since you've go back to 1.6, it doesn't matter. just install xrecovery in the future, quite useful.
Now I have system back (after about 2h) with working xRecovery and... God!.. why I haven't noticed it before...
i wanna ask how to recover the framework-res.apk from the xrecovery??

Use Super One Click, it comes with adb. Copy cmd.exe to SOC folder. Now start cmd, now type 'adb shell' (click enter) and then the other commands.

adb won't stay open if you click it, it will just flash out on the screen.
it was supposed to be somekind of a "bridge" for the cmd and the phone...

You have to copy cmd.exe to the SuperOneClick folder, then you have to open the cmd.exe, not the superonecklick.exe.

I think it works if your phone is charged by your laptop/computer only. You do not allow it to connect. I mean you can not reach SDCard through Total Commander, etc. only charging.

I created this thread mainly because many useful things can be done in Terminal emulator. I will show you some simple commands which are useful.
Very useful if you don't have Root explorer when you need it.
Make sure you take a Nandroid backup before you try out just in case you can restore when you do something wrong!
You can get terminal Emulator from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jackpal.androidterm&hl=en
Note: Most commands need root. So type su and press enter and grant superuser permissions to Terminal Emulator!
First type this command before using any of the commands below just in case(needs root)

Turning device off (Turns your device off very fast!! ):

Rebooting to Recovery

Forcing Most Apps to install to SDcard(Root needed with Terminal Emulator, no need root with ADB):

Example 2: chmod 644 /system/app/*.apk (This command changes the file permission of all apps in the folder to rw-r--r--)
Changing the current directory:

Example: cd /sdcard
Listing all the files and folders under the current directory:

If you want to view all the files and folders in your sdcard, type:
cd /sdcard
ls
Making a new folder:

mkdir <path>
Example: mkdir /sdcard/newfolder
Removing files (For System files, Use after mounting R/W)

rm <path>
Example: rm /system/app/demoapp.apk
Removing Folders:

Get info of your build.prop values

No problem. This is the output from the Terminal Emulator. The bold command changes the default install dir to the SD card:

I never got that problem on adb.
Let me see....

Is much easier than the previous one to mount readwrite.

That is the use of the bootanimation command. You can stop it either by pulling battery or closing terminal emulator!
But what I did to stop it was to rotate my phone to landscape and somehow close terminal emulator.
But in ADB it is easier to stop using exit command.

First you have to open a command window in ADB then type:

For example once in adb shell:

The 755 in the chmod command corresponds to how Linux sets file permissions, using a numeric system. In Linux each file or directory has 3 permission Owner (The owner of the file), Group (Others who have access to the file), and Other (Everyone else). Chmod 755 means that the owner has full read, write, and execute privileges while the group has read and execute permissions, and the other group has read and execute permissions. Let me use an analogy, person A (Owner) is the owner of the file so he has full permission do what ever he wants with the file read, write, execute (7). Then say person A is working with person B (Group), but person B doesn't need to make changes to the file so he only needs to be able to read the file and execute the file so he is given read and execute privileges (5). Now person A and person B have a few friends (Other) who want access to the file but Person A and B don't want there friends to be able to change the file just read it and execute it, so they would be granted read and execute privileges (5). When you put all the privileges together you get 755 numeric permission. For more information on how file permissions work in Linux I would recommend taking a look at this guide and this guide.

In some rom adb permission isn't root by default. I think it's a line in default.prop that enable root in adb. Something like
ro.adb.secure = 0
if you don't want to edit that file just push file to sdcard or temporary folder then use adb shell (with root) to copy that file to proper location.

That's strange. Maybe in your rom adb push works only when file doesn't exist.

I have the same problem too and remounting the adb doesn't solve it.
I'm still searching for a fix. I can only pull but not push.
If y'all are on a stock rom, then you can't push anything directly into the system (unless your bootloader is unlocked & you modify the boot.img). I use the following mount command
mount -o remount /system
First push the file to the sdcard
adb push blablabla /sdcard
then adb shell it to the correct location.
It's a lot of bs but it's the only way I got it to work with stock.
Here's an example of a batch script I made
