[Q] [HOWTO] Windows drivers - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I put my GSS2 in "dev mode" but Win7 (32bit) can find any drivers to install so I can't run Eclipse to SGS2. I have Kies 2.0 installed.
I have no problems with my other Android phones (HTC, ZTE)

I just installed Kies 2, enabled USB debugging and it worked. Maybe try reinstalling Kies.
You could also use ADB over WiFi: https://market.android.com/details?id=siir.es.adbWireless&feature=search_result

[Q] ADB Driver Problem

I tried to root my Samsung Vibrant using the One-Click Root method but when I get to the part where the phone is supposed to reboot into Recovery Mode, nothing happens. Then, I checked Device Manger to see if there were any problems with the drivers and it said that Windows failed to initialize the Samsung Android Composite ADB Interface driver. How do I fix this?
I have Windows XP 32-bit.
I googled fixes for this for a while but nothing I found worked. Any help would be appreciated.
Does Kies is running without any problems and you can connect your phone?
If No, pls install Kies and be sure that you have an access to your phone.
If it is working: pls close Kies - also in the Systray. Not that the 2 different application makes trouble
I can connect my phone to Kies without any problems but it still won't work even after I uninstalled Kies

PDANet ADB Driver Failure

I was trying to install PDANet yesterday onto my laptop, I follow all the isntructions during installation and allow the drivers to be installed. I choose Samsung as my phone. At one point it asks me to connect my phone to my PC, which I do. It proceeds to dl 4 things, 3 out of the 4 download and install fine, but the ADB Driver installation fails every time (this is windows downloading drivers, not the installation itself). I have tried finding ADB drivers on my own with little success.
to confirm before the question is asked, yes the USB debugging option is turned on. ADB driver just keeps failing to download and install using windows.
same issue with my HP laptop
Driver name is S3c6410 Android ADB

[Q] Setting up adb without installing Moto software

I'd like to simply connect the USB cable and connect to the device via ADB from my win7 x64 pc..
I've installed the latest set of USB drivers from the android SDK but am failing to update the driver since it says its not compatible with a windows x64 based system.
Anyone have any luck?

You need to install the Motorola drivers...that's the same for every phone. You need the drivers for the model phone you're trying to connect to.

Ok thanks - was thinking i could use the generic one from the SDK but guess i can't. Thanks.
EDIT: confirmed that using the Motorola ones do the trick - and i can connect to the device using ADB without going into Media sync or Phone portal mode.
if you want to be even more fancy, install adbwireless on the phone, and you can do all the adb stuff over wifi.
Unfortunately doesn't work in the workplace for me

Install drivers to run ODIN : needed ?

In order to get ODIN running for rooting I tried installing Kies under Windows. I tried two VMware sessions on my Mac : On both occasions I used the original cable and turned USB debugging OFF (required for Kies). I assigned the USB port to the VMware session of course.
Windows XP SP3 : It did install normally but drivers install of Samsumg MTP device failed
Installing went OK.
Windows 7: Same problem and Kies appeared in a red window.
On the Mac native (OSX 10.7) Kies installed and connected normally, but cannot use it for rooting as ODIN is for Windows only.
Adre these device drivers really required for ODIN ?
i think u need the drivers. forget kies. just download the samsung drivers and install them. u have to put the phone into download mode to install firmware via odin -> VOL_Down+Home+Power
the drivers u will get here (will work for sgs2 too):
64bit Windows (all versions): http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Samsung/Samsung-Galaxy-S-USB-Driver-for-Windows-x64.shtml
32bit Windows (all versions): http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Samsung/Samsung-Galaxy-S-USB-Driver-for-Windows-x86.shtml
Yea it doesn't work on Mac. Got 10.7 running here too, but I only flash through my CWM directly now. When I need odin, I just use my mom's laptop.
Hope not too late, here's the link for downloading Odin, Kies, Kies3, Smart Switch, and all needed drivers for Samsung phones: http://www.droidviews.com/android-usb-drivers-samsung-motorola-sony-lg-zte-htc-asus-huawei-acer/ Thank me if this helped

[Solved] Casual wont recognize Galaxy note II

hXXp://pastebin.com/RcsLn04r - Log (Replace XX with tt because Im new to the forums)
So i've uninstalled drivers from device manager, then hit the "Do it" button. It comes up and installs the drivers, asks me to restart computer. So I do. When I run CASUAL again, it still says disconnected. The log is from when I try to run it after restarting windows.
Yes debug is on.
I just upgraded from an incredible 2. Could those drivers be effecting it? If so, how do I uninstall the drivers without plugging the phone up to my computer and going through device manager?
Any and all help would be appreciated!
Downloading odin and kies now to see if they can detect it. Will post back soon.
Edit: I uninstalled drivers from device manager, downloaded Kies. Had Kies install drivers. After that a verison upgrade assistant option from windows came up. I went ahead and ran that and it installed some drivers. Restarted the computer and now CASUAL is detecting my phone. Unlocked and rooted now
