As stated in the topic, will the thunderbolt reboot itself even with custom roms, kernals, and radios?

It's been happening to everyone, reagardless of ROM or OTA upgrade.

Sweet, thanks for the confirmation.

From stock out of the box.
To root, to Das Bamf remix 1.6.3.
Not any reboot issue at all.
I remember 2 reboot in the root process.
1 after the install of Bamf remix 1.6.
1 after 1.6.3.
Up time shows 26 hours.
I never had a problem with reboots..I've tried a lot of roms....everything is running smoother then ever with the new leaked gingerbread leak...don't worry everything is about to get much nicer
No reboots with CM7 and stock radio, but using the recent OTA radio with CM7 gave me reboots. Using OTA radio with any ROM for that matter.
Oy, I'm pretty heart broken over this because I wasn't aware of the reboot problem plaguing the Thunderbolt when I picked it up. Anyone with recent upgrades or just running BAMF 1.7 having issues?
I had between zero and two reboots a day with 1.6.3, desensed, with AOSP dialer. HTC is working on it. For me, it's not been a problem, really.

I was unrooted for the first three weeks I had this, and I didn't have ANY random reboots. Then I installed the OTA and got about 2-3 a day, then a few days later I rooted and have had no problem since. Stock radio (hasn't changed) and I've switched between a number of ROMS, but so far CM7 with the Honeybread theme is doing the best IMO.
I didn't get any reboots on stock radio. After I switched to the OTA radio update, I started getting some random ones occasionally, maybe once every couple of days. Then I tried one of the combos in the radio thread, the .7 CDMA radio with the .6 LTE radio, and I haven't had a reboot since. I believe it is something in the current OTA radio update causing it, so you can just avoid that update for now.

Running 1.7 never had one reboot.
I never had a issue with reboots... After I bricked, I ran stock for the day until I had a chance to re root and flash Gingeritis... In the days time, I had 4 reboots. After I rooted and went back to GB, I have had none (except for a odd issue with a kernel I was testing). After reflashing the kernel. 0

I could say the same until yesterday. I have been running 1.6.3 since its release. Had my first random reboot yesterday morning, and had another in the afternoon.
None since then.....
reboots on stock and custom roms.
the only thing i can think of the cause is the transition in and out of 4g areas.
i drive from nj to va frequently and i get 1 or 2 reboots (that i noticed while driving) on my trip up/down 95.

I am personally in a big transition area on the east coast, it would make a good deal of sense if this is what's happening.
i've never had a random reboot

Hey, lovin my TB! recently after returning from TB back to fresh rooted froyo, everything's been ok. Then I flashed bamf 1.7 fine. Stripped version getting shut offs, not reboots.. I don't notice till I reach in my holster and the HTC logo appears. I thought it might be the rom so I flashed cm7.0.0 RC. Still getting them. Is anyone else getting these? This is serious considering i almost woke up late today after setting my alarm last night only to find my phone is turned off.

I'd start by checking kernel settings. Too low won't wake. Too high will cause a shut off. Not all processors respond well to extreme over/under clocking and under voting.

I actually have not touched the kernel nor the radio.. but I'm wanting Netflix so I'm going to have to flash the gb radio I think. As for the kernel it is the one that came with cm7, the highest clocking is around 1ghz. I guess ill show around for a decent kernel.

I was having the exact same problem and I flashed the new cdma radio and the old LTE radio combo and I have not had a problem since.

Most likely the dumb radio then..last couple radio releases have reboot issues depending on the person...seems your an unlucky one too.

EDIT: as an update. So i reached 24hrs without a single shutdown. I flashed cm7 dream kernel 1.8 and one of the radios from above link.. only question is the types of signals of each combo from the link looks like hyroglyphs to me.. which is the recommended radio running cm7?

In the past two weeks I have used Gingeritis, Bamf 2.0 and Gingerbean using the latest updated imoseyon kernel. I am currently using the latest Gingeritis with imoseyon 3.0.1 and the MR2 radio that was just leaked.
There is one lingering issue that is uniform throughout all updates and changes of roms/kernels/radios. Charging time/speed.
After a new Rom install, charging is just how it should be. Then, after a phone call the charging time becomes extremely slow or even sometimes stops at a certain percentage. The only way to fix this is a reboot.
Anyone able to explain what in the GB OS and/or kernels is causing this?

yep.. charging time is definitely an issue.. I wonder if it has anything to do with the kernel.
I must have been lucky then, because after i flashed the MR2 radio, all that BS went away. Now I have super fast charging and it goes to 100%
It is a slight hassle, but there is a fix for it right now. When your phone is plugged in and charging, restart it while keeping the cord in. It should charge normally after it restarts. I've had the same issue and this makes things act normal. However, you need to do this every time you charge, not just once.
Why aren't developers asking for help on fixing this?
Why's everyone so mum about the issue?
This is starting to drive me nuts.
I know you reboot to fix it but , what specificly is causing it??
I mean when you think about it. Wouldn't killing the process whatever it may be, that kicks in when you get a call fix it?
Flashed BAMF Sense 3.0 GB RC3 and noticed that I never get 4G LTE service unless I manually go in an set to it using Das BAMF Toolkit or LTE switching app. Then it will acquire 4G LTE service and I can switch it back to CDMA+LTE/EvDO-auto and things seem to work ok from there on out. Anyone else have this happen?

sounds like a radio issue to me. flash another one and see if it changes.
I was having this issue using the kernel that came with the rom. I flashed up to the 2.3.0 dream kernel (an updated version of what comes with the rom) and noticed that the 4G using the cdma/lte auto was close to flawless.
Note that sometimes it did drop to 3G, but it seemed to be an issue caused by juicedefender constantly turning the radio on and off.
Also, if you're on mr2.0 switch to mr2.5. Apparently it has much better luck with 4G.
Best of luck, and as always, anything you do is at your own risk.
I find some ROMs I have 4g issues with MR2 and I will switch to MR2.5 and it works. Sometimes the opposite occurs. It's a strange deal.
On 2.5 and no issues with 4G.

Ill try the new bamf sense 3.o rc4 as its supposed to have latest dream kernal. Tried flashing 2.3.2 dream kernal and it crapped my whole phone out.

For what it's wort I flashed rc4 and did not change kernal and I'm running 2.5 radio.
I work in a building right on the fringe of 4g, My coworkers have thunderbolts and Samsung charges. I'm the only rooted non stock phone (I'm working on it) of them all and we all get 3g inside and 4g outside. All phones seem to switch in the same place at about the same time.

I did the same and I had to wipe and flash. It was later mentioned that a boot issue was found and the kernel dev fixed it in what I believe is 2.3.6. Try the rc5 with the official mr2, best results so far for me.

Try MR2. I haven't had any problems with it but from the experiences I've read from different people, it seems some will have better luck with 2.0 and some with 2.5. That seems to be how it has been from what I can tell.

Hey,
Like many of you I have been trying out the new sense 4.0 roms as they come available. I usually end up back on bamf's 3.6 rom without issues through my nand backup.
Recently, my phone started freezing up after going back to the 3.6 rom. This never happened before. I tried flashing a new rom instead of using the backup and it keeps happening. Now, any rom I try ends up freezing, randomly restarting, and then after it restarts it will continue to bootloop showing only the white HTC screen.
My phone is s-off running the newest ICS leak. Not really sure where to go from here. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Since this isn't specific to any rom I made a new thread, feel free to move if this is the wrong area!
That's weird bro. Not sure why. I switch all the time between gb And ics Nd sense 4 with no issues. Maybe run the ruu again

OP, All you need to do is flash the firmware patch or proper kernel. Your phone is rebooting when gmail tries to sync, when you press a button that makes a noise, or when you get a notification?
It sounds like your issue is that your running a rom and firmware that don't match up. Just let me know what your firmware version is by booting to hboot with power+vol down
To the guy above that can't flash the ICS leak and doesn't have wifi, I'll help you fix it. That sounds like the kernel you installed and the roms base don't match up, like for example if someone flashed a new sense 4 rom and flashed a sense4 PH98IMG.zip from an older base that wasn't out of the newest rom.
Both of you send me a PM and I'll help you fix it.
