So I have pre-ordered my Flyer here state-side at Best Buy (seeing that I work at one)... And just checked the inventory system today and it appears that the tablet is showing an in-stock date of 5/22/11 or this upcoming Sunday!
So I hope that my store gets one, because I'm the only one that has pre-ordered
P.S. This would be the 16Gb WiFi only version of course!
And sorry if someone already posted this!

I haven't been back to work since posting, I return on Friday, however I will have a friend check the SKU for me if he works tomorrow to see if any are on the Truck coming for the weekend!

So yeah as jwiskowski posted it is official 22nd is the launch date! So I have some rather interesting news, my store has 3 Flyers on order. However they are not listed as in-transit (meaning they will be on the next delivery truck). So it appears that they will probably be drop-shipped just how they did with the iPad 2. So basically that means the UPS delivery person will bring them with regular store deliveries, and being that UPS doesn't ship to us on Sunday... I think it'd be safe to say the stores will have them by Saturday, but clearly they can't sell them until Sunday!
F0l3ert the only way to check this would to be to call the nearest store to you state-side, give them the Flyer SKU (2390524) have them plug that into RSS (the inventory system) and see what they have on order. If they are nice they shouldn't have a problem doing that haha
Oh and the stores on order number is usually excluding their demo unit so that should be an accurate on-hand count (meaning ones they can sell).

Thanks for the tip. I called a few stores around my area and they are all getting about 8 units each. They said it was going to be a free for all on Sunday.
I also called to check if I could change my online pre-order to a in-store pick-up, and they couldn't do it since it wasn't actually shown in-stock at the stores.
Might be an interesting Saturday night / Sunday morning to figure out how I can pick one up before my trip next week.
Can you provide the sku for the pen?
I visited two BB's today (Friday 20th)... both of them had physical possesion of their allotted Flyers... but alas, neither would sell one to me. Told me to wait until Sunday.

I just got mine. They apologized for not calling but apparently just unpacked them. I would say they had 40-50 at my store. (Orlando, Fl)
They had 10 pens out on a rack near tablet/phone accessories. No Flyer specific cases were present. Just generic one-size-fits-most zippered neoprene cases.
I will inbox and review ASAP.
I was at one 90 mins ago. They would not sell me one. Told me to come back on Sunday.

So it looks like the Flyer will be released on 9th May. This was mentioned in Paul Obrien / tracyandmatt in their live blog from the HTC London event.
Damnit I just sold my Galaxy Tab so guess I'm tabless for a few weeks yet.

Is that a global release date? When do you think Best Buy will release it in the states?
May 9 is the UK release date. I think the Flyer is to be sold in the US by Sprint as the Evo View which I think was scheduled to be released in June and is supposed ro ship with Honeycomb

Now this really annoys me. When I preordered the HTC Desire, stock was delayed because (after announcing a release date), HTC diverted stock to the carriers who don't take pre-orders and will sell to the first person in the door. They certainly don't ship overseas.
It seems the same thing will happen with the HTC Flyer. This was Clove Technologys response to my question about why the ETA on their site changed from "Mid May" to "TBC:

Im very tempted to just go get a Xoom (or something) now - not only because HTC are dicking us around, but mainly because I sold my Galaxy Tab a couple of weeks ago, "knowing" that the Flyer was not too far away. I'm also getting married in June so I'll be away for a while.
I got the same email and I am now seriously thinking to get the new Samsung tablet instead.
While there was huge demand for the Desire at the time, that does not seem to be the case for the Flyer this time and I am not particularly impressed by the way HTC is playing this one...
I'm also going to go abroad soon and I don't want to be in a situation where I have to manage shipping date and location to avoid the risk of the tablet being delivered while I am away...
Looks like I am just about to cancel my pre-order!!!
I think this news just makes my decision easier to wait for the larger tablets coming this summer, i dont need mine immediately, and a larger screen would suit me better, hopefully less hassle with those then, but i wont switch to another brand as i dont believe there's a better experience than sense

I just did. I slept on it and came to the conclusion that I can't afford to risk it slipping any further. I also don't like the way HTC have handled it. Even their own "Flyer store" site says May 9 and only went live a few days ago.
I am a huge HTC fan and I have regretfully just ordered the Galaxy Tab 10.1 which will be shipped in about a week.
I have a homeless SIM card with a 10Gb/month data plan which is desperate for a new home
Chances are the new Galaxy Tab will be on ebay within a couple of months andd replaced with (hopefully) something more like the Flyer.

Pre-order cancelled... Can't be bothered waiting for HTC to sort its business... Given the price with online retailer are identical to the one you'd get on the street in the UK, I can't see the point of this exclusivity deal. Bad move on your part, boys.

Ye true, but still has micro SD as well, nd I don't mind the non 3g, as I live in Norway so a us data plan is useless to me and getting us stuff with no contract is near impossible

It looks like a great device, and i could use the scribe function 50 times a day, but the price is laughable.
Where has it said it doesn't come with pen? And I've heard rumors that that is just best-buy pre-order not actual stopped pick up

I asked both bestbuy and pcworld and they both said it was available separately
That was two weeks ago when the price was all rumour and i was still thinking of buying one.
The secondhand market could be worth looking, i would think the price is going to drop like a stone.

From the video I have seen the Best Buy order comes with the pen and the Sprint version does not.
I think it would be extremely bad form for HTC to sell the pen separately. This tablet is already behind the game in screen (not IPS)/2.4 (not 3.0)/processor performance (not dual core). They will surely kill it if they charge extra for the pen.
I have my pre order with bestbuy but I may cancel it if the pen is not in the box when I go to buy it.
What is the strategy in selling it without pen? And is this pre-order, pick-up or both?

UK versions seem to include the Scribe pen and most large retailers are saying availability on 17 May.

Yeah I know . I've been playing around with it for 30 minutes and it's a steal at this price. Not worth £350 though. I heard HP were getting another batch in, so I'd be surprised if everyone who wanted one didn't get one. The IPS panel really is beautiful.

Managed to get mine from carphone warehouse, they had already sold out but I persuaded them to locate a couple for me. Received them today, very happy with it so far, the touchpad has massive potential.

None of them knew when or if they would get more. I looked online and no best buy in my area has them (very odd since I live in L.A.). Is there another place to get them for $299? Is this device discontinued? I really don't want to go the ebay route. Thanks in advance!
When the price drop occurred most places sold out without any new inventory .... I don't think they are getting more shipments as they are trying to get rid of all of the accessories ...

Looks like Best Buy and HTC pulled a "Touchpad" at better than salvage pricing. Our Best Buy says they are waiting for deliveries of the new Jetstream model, but I can't see much demand for device that costs $699 and requires a two year contract on AT&T.
No fire sale, they lowered the price to compete with the Kindle Fire. After that they've been selling out quickly. I purchased mines two weeks ago. One store in NYC had them. The following week every store in my area had them.

I lucked out and got the last one in my area.
I got mine about 2.5 weeks ago at the BB here. They only had 3 left. I went back to BB 2 nights ago to get the invisible shield by Zagg ($9.99) and I got the last one.
They still have cases and styluses, though.
The stores in the New Orleans area still had them when I visited over the weekend.
well, 4 out of 10 stores in or near Omaha have them in stock based on the website and they show as backordered otherwise. While I think the 7" is an ideal size for my needs, I think the general market may lean toward the larger screens as a mainstream device and the smaller screens thought of more as book readers.

Thanks for the input guys. I just left one best buy and they didn't even have the flyer on display anymore. I have a cousin in Texas who is close to a best buy that has stock so I will have him buy it for me. Everything seems to indicate that the flyer is at the end of it's life and I have to wonder if it will be updated to HC or ICS. Nevertheless, I still want to buy one since it is pocketable and allows me to take precise notes.
I picked mine up about 2 weeks ago and i got the very last one. I used to work at the geeksquad in the store and i was talking to the GM and he was saying they sold out really quick after the price drop. He didnt mention anything about it being discontinued though.
The Flyer is not being discontinued, it's just been selling really well.
I had been looking for a flyer for a couple of weeks, checking my best buy every day. All stores close to me had been showing out of stock. Then last weekend I went to the store and they had 1 in the store so I bought it. It was new and unopened so it wasnt a return. I think its just taking a while to full stock. I'm sure the price drop on accessories is because they have too much on the shelf vs the number off flyers in stock.

I just bought mine yesterday. Had to drive to gretna to the bestbuy mobile store to get teh last one, after visiting the 3 stores in/around Metairie and calling the houma store (only one to show inventory online). After calling around I lucked out and the BBM store had 1 that wasn't showing in inventory. There aren't any within a 50 mile radius of new orleans! These things must be selling like hotcakes.
Want to pick one up but wasn't ready to pull the trigger. Only 3 stores have any in inventory. Concerned there will be no back fill and this is my last shot

You may be on your last shot...seems that Adroid device shelf-life is counted in "dog months" - in other words 5 months on the market is nearly 3 years - they definitely are not tied to an annual upgrade cycle.
My status online is backordered still.
I will watch to see if/when it changes.

I have always had good luck at best buy, we use sprint at our work so I usually do my work line upgrades there. The evoLTE I used my Sero P upgrade which has to be done via Sprint. I got the 3D at BB and the evo. Both times it was first come first serve for pre-order and they would call me to set up an appointment time to come in so there wasn't 100 people at the store at the same time. Never had an issue with getting mine on release day they were always good about it. As long as you ordered it the 1st day you should be fine. I would say the most difficult thing is explaining to the staff you don't want any of there overpriced accessories, service plans or settings up your phone.
I could see them listing it as backordered because they dont have them in stock technically.

Lol, yea. I already have two sexy wall/car charges from my EVO 4G, if they are compatible, which I assume so. The only accessory I will be tempted to buy are the screen protectors. NOT the gummy Zagg ones. Ew.

Argos have it listed but it seems it's only for delivery and it looks like the earliest delivery date is Thursday.
Same here - Amazon order delivery bounced to 20 December last night (Following an up date on Saturday that it was coming on the 4th November).
So ordered from Argos - Selected black and now have a confirmed date of tomorrow delivery - 3.95 shipping, however a £10 voucher .
I just tried to order one from Argos (32Gb White) and it showed out of stock at my local warehouse!
Tried to order from Argos this morning, got an email from PayPal to say payment had failed :/ tried again and PayPal payment is now pending but I've got no confirmation from Argos...
In store Argos told me they don't have any planned deliveries to my local store for the N9.
Currys, ever the sales people, evaded all I asked. Will try to pop down just before closing to find out if they've had any delivered.

Well its now listed on Currys/PC World. Strangely they do not have 32gb in Black, just White 16/32gb and Black 16gb.
Currently use the code IPADTAB20 to take £20 off.
Just went through to see if you can collect tomorrow but the earliest you can select is Weds.
Just checked, it's not available in any stores to pick up / check out at the moment. But Currys/PC World have around 200 of each model in the main depo. Which means they should be coming into stores soon. Next delivery is on Thursday (hope it comes in!).
