I had my original FR008 rooted Aria stolen, and my insurance replacement had the updated AT&T crapware. So, I found someone with an XTC Key. It took 2.5 hours (FML!!) but it's done.
The guy said that he put on the "Z4 Root" ROM. Things seem to work ok, but I'd like to use something more common.. either CM or FR008. Plus, I'm not sure how comfortable I am with some guy in a strip center rooting my phone..
So... when I rooted my original phone, I used the shad0wf0x custom Ubuntu LiveCD. S-OFF is now fixed, but I still have the new version of HBOOT. Can I expect things to work the same?
Do you have Clockworkmod installed? If so you should be OK. If not you may need to come to the IRC channel to see if someone can help you through the process of getting it installed.
I don't think I have CW mod. I powered on where you can see S-OFF and HBOOT. That menu shows
HBOOT
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
CLEAR STORAGE
SIM LOCK
If I remember right, if clockwork is installed it will have an entry on that menu..
Highlighted because I'm bored, but it's the recovery option.

I thought that it said something like CW RECOVERY.. I'll try it out..
Ok, this is weird..
I power on holding the down arrow, and I see the HBOOT menu. I try to navigate to "RECOVERY" and nothing happens. There's no response to the volume up, volume down or power buttons.
After about 5 or 6 seconds, the phone automatically goes into "HTC Liberty System Diag 1.0". In this menu I only have two options: "Clean S58 Data" and "Device Info"..
"Device info" gives a bunch of stuff including the serial number, IMEI, etc..
I don't know what "Clean S58 Data" does, so I haven't gone to it
The only way I'm able to exit this menu is by pulling my battery.
Having thought about it a little, if I do have clockwork, then I should be able to just load a new ROM from there without needing to run the LiveCD.. The problem is that since I can't navigate at the HBOOT menu, I can't get into clockwork..
Any ideas?
Choose the Clean S58 option, let it do its thing, then choose reboot. That Clean S58 was the last step in Clockworkmod to root the phone when I did it the other day.

Thanks to attn1 and the folks on his IRC channel, I was able to get this fixed.
The process of SOFF'ing with the XTC clip puts a diagnostic program (HDIAG) your SD card. Removing the SD card prevented the phone from going to HDIAG and allowed me to navigate to the "recovery" menu in the HBOOT screen.
I had to to quite a bit more to get the phone rooted though. I'll detail that out in the next post..

Here are the details of what I did to get my phone rooted. Hopefully this will help others that run into some of the the same issues..
The first hurdle was that I couldn't navigate to "recovery" on the HBOOT screen. The phone would not respond to the volume up or volume down buttons, and would boot into HDIAG. The solution to this was to simply remove the SD card. (See my previous post for more info)
So I navigated to "recovery" hoping that it would take me to clockworkmod. Nope. The guy that SOFF'd & rooted my phone did not install clockwork. I got the white HTC screen, and then a black screen with a red triangle & exclamation point over an image of the phone. The phone was trying to start the stock HTC recovery app, which wouldn't work without the SD card installed.
So I needed to install clockworkmod myself. Per Attn1's instructions, this was how: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13650191&postcount=27
I installed the Android SDK which has the adb and fastboot tools on my laptop (Windows 7). (Note: The adb.exe and fastboot.exe applications used to be together in the "\tools" directory. In the latest version of the SDK, adb has been moved to the "\platform-tools" directory. This comes into play later..)
I turned on my phone, connected it to my laptop (charge only, usb debugging on), opened a command prompt in the "\platform-tools" directory, and typed "adb devices" to verify that my phone was connected. It was, so I typed the first command from attn1's post linked above ("adb reboot bootloader"). The phone went to the HBOOT screen. Things were looking good..
I navigated back to the "\tools" folder to run the next command ("fastboot erase cache") using fastboot. I got an error message that a .dll file was missing. I had a hunch that this file might have been moved to the "\platform-tools" directory with adb.exe. Yep, it was there. So I copied the .dll file to the "\tools" folder where fastboot could use it too. (Sorry, I don't remember the name of the file..)
I re-enter the "fastboot erase cache" command and got a response of "waiting on device". I waited a while, and the phone didn't do anything. The IRC folks said it was probably a driver issue, and it was. After a couple of hours (and adult beverages) I got it to work..
I installed HTC sync from this driver pack: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LI4UVDDD
I followed these instructions: http://www.unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php?id=public:windows_hboot_driver_install
I started all over again with attn1's instructions to install clockworkmod from the first step. I copied the "clockwork2501.zip" file into the "\tools" directory and everything went smoothly after that. I thought that I might have to uninstall HTC Sync, but I did not. Your results may vary..
So I disconnected the phone, and powered up to the HBOOT screen. The SD card was still out, so I was able to navigate to "recovery" which now took me to clockworkmod instead of the stock HTC recovery. (I did notice that the phone seems to still try to go into HDIAG. It doesn't respond to volume button navigation for about 5 seconds, then it lists a few files that it can't find on the SD card, then it goes back to the HBOOT screen where it does respond to volume button navigation...)
I powered back down, put in a brand new (larger) SD card, and put the FR008 zip file on it. Powered up to HBOOT, navigated to "recovery", wiped data, wiped cache, wiped dalvik, and then installed FR008 from the zip file.
Done. Finally.
Thanks again to attn1 and all the folks on his IRC. Hopefully this will help others who run into some of the same problems that I did.

Yes, alternatively you could have just booted the phone and then deleted the relevant files from the root folder of the SD card. The HBOOT scans the SD card for these files and if it finds them, it automatically loads them, which was the issue. The files I'm talking about are the ones named either LIBEIMG or LIBEDIAG.
I navigated back to the "\tools" folder to run the next command ("fastboot erase cache") using fastboot. I got an error message that a .dll file was missing. Really Google intends for you to have the platform-tools folder added to your system PATH variable so that you wouldn't need to move the files around. You can do this by typing the following at the command line prior to running the other commands.
Code:
path %PATH%;C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
(You would obviously have to adjust this based on where you placed the Android SDK folder.)
(I did notice that the phone seems to still try to go into HDIAG. It doesn't respond to volume button navigation for about 5 seconds, then it lists a few files that it can't find on the SD card, then it goes back to the HBOOT screen where it does respond to volume button navigation...)

In case you were wondering, this is normal behavior (i.e., happens on all versions of HBOOT). It's just checking for the files I mentioned above. If they aren't found, it then gives you control to select an option in the menu.
Anyway, glad to see you got everything working. I just wanted to touch on a few points in case anyone else is having similar problems and reads this thread.

I'm new to Android, my first step was to research hardware and functionality. The choice, you guest it, gtab!
Now of to the good stuff. I ultimately want to root and update my Rom to vegan5.1. So far I have downloaded cwv08, upload downgrade and vegan. The problem is that when I try to restart using power + volume +, I do see the open box screen but then it just loads tnt and resumes boot. There has to be a step I must be missing here. Like I said I'm new to grab and android. Where do I start?
To my understanding, power with volume + without cwm install will run the command file in recovery folder. Preharps u are missing the file, preharps u are not naming the file correctly; too little details provided to tell..
try reading : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
same box with green arrow
I too have installed clockwork. Downgrade the bootloader then try to reboot into clockwork using the + and power. The tab acts like it is going to enter recovery says "Detect recover key press
Booting to recovery image"
Then it goes to that screen with he box with a green down arrow coming out of it and a progress bar. When it finishes it reboots. Still at stock rom, no joy at all.
A couple things I have tried. Copying a new update.zip to the root of the internal memory and the sd card, reboot with and without the sdcard inserted, rebooting normal then trying to get reboot recovery with + and power, copying the cwm update and recovery folder into root. No joy each time it it is the update box. I have not tried holding the recovery keys down in the dark while chanting xda but I think I missed my chance for that working last Friday.... when is the next Friday the 13th?
Thanks for any help or insight anyone can give us.
Bednab,I could not have explained any better. This is exactly what happens with mine. Today I encountered another challenge. My gtab will not connect to my-fy on open iphone. I have to figure this out before my road trip next month.
and there was much rejoicing
I kept at this and finally found a solution. A post pointed me to the answer on androidforums about the command file getting deleted out of the recovery folder after a successful update. I opened the recovery folter on the g tab and it was empty so I opened the one from cwm and edited it to this:
--update_package=SDCARD2:/update.zip
This way it points to my external card where I had a few custom roms. Copied it to the recovery folder in the root of the gtab, reboot into recovery mode and much joy!
A big thanks to Bentenrai and his initial thread for rooting the EVO 3D, off which I created this guide, eugene373 for the temp root solution, Team Win, UnrEVOked and AlphaRev, and anyone else that has helped make this happen.
Some of you may know my video guides from the EVO and I'm bringing those simple tutorials to the EVO 3D. This guide is a complete video walkthrough on how to root the EVO 3D with edits based on the issues that some may run into with previous guides. Without further ado, let's get started!
LINK TO VIDEO WALKTHROUGH FOR HOW TO ROOT THE EVO 3D
◄●REQUIRED DOWNLOADS●►
Just download, do not install or run anything yet.
Temp Root File - RW EVO 3D
Android SDK - This guide uses the r12 Windows Installer
HTC Driver Pack
Revolutionary Exploit - Select OS and download. Leave the page open. Do not run yet.
TWRP Recovery - Download PG86IMG.zip version or just click this direct link.
Superuser file
◄●Instructions●►
This guide starts by temp rooting the phone so that we can back up our apps and all their data. If you don't want to do this, you can skip to the Full Root Section.
◄●Temp Root to Backup Apps●►
Keep your phone unplugged and restart it
Make sure that HTC Sync is not installed on your computer
Click the Start button in Windows
Type uninstall a program in the search box and hit Enter
Make sure HTC Sync does not show up in the list. If it does, uninstall it
Download the HTC Driver Pack and the Temp Root File
Double click and install the HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe you just downloaded
Unzip the RW_EVO_3D file by right clicking and selecting Extract All
On your phone, go to Menu>Settings>Applications>Development and make sure USB debugging is CHECKED
On your computer, open the RW_EVO_3D folder that you just extracted and run the Run_ME_Fr3vo_ROOT batch file by double clicking.
Plug in your phone when you see "waiting for device" in the command prompt. It will then initiate the temporary root.
On your phone, download Titanium Backup from the Android Market and open it.
Hit the Menu button on your phone and select Batch.
Under the Backup section, click "RUN" for Backup all user apps
◄●Full Root Section●►
This is the full root section for those that don't care about backing up their apps.
◄●Clear Traces of Past Temp Root●►
Clear all traces of the temporary root
On your phone, go to Menu>Settings>SD & phone storage
Select Factory data reset
Click Reset Phone
Click Erase Everything and your phone will reboot and do the factory reset
When the phone restarts, unlock the phone and skip through the whole setup wizard
Go to Menu>Settings>Applications>Development and make USB Debugging is CHECKED
Go to the Dialer(Phone) and dial ##3282#
Select View Mode
Select Data Profile
Write down the email under "User Name" (this may get erased in the root process. If we write this down, we can just put it back in after root if the Profile Update fails)
◄●Install Android SDK●►
On your computer download the Android SDK for your OS (this guide will work with Windows and Linux). This guide uses the r12 Windows Installer.
Run the exe file that you just downloaded by double clicking on it and install the Android SDK. I change the install location to C:/android-sdk
If you don't have Java installed, click the link it gives you, download JDK Java SE 6 and select your OS (I'm on Windows 64bit). Run the file and install Java. Once complete, just hit Back on the Android SDK installer and then Next.
◄●Install Drivers and Prepare for Root●►
Make sure your phone is NOT connected to the computer.
Make sure that HTC Sync is not installed on your computer (if you didn't do the temp root section)
Click the Start button in Windows
Type uninstall a program in the search box and hit Enter
Make sure HTC Sync does not show up in the list. If it does, uninstall it
Download the HTC Driver Pack (if you didn't do the temp root section) and install the HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe you just downloaded.
Plug in your phone to the computer. If it asks where to install drivers from, just select Install Automatically.
Download the Revolutionary Exploit by selecting your OS (I'm using Windows).
Leave the page open as we will use it later
Right click the revolutionary file you just downloaded by right clicking and selecting Extract All.
Download the TWRP Recovery - Download PG86IMG.zip version or just click this direct link.
Go to the this PG86IMG-twrp-shooter zip file that you just downloaded and rename it "PG86IMG" with NO .zip at the end. Your computer knows its a zip file.
Put your phone into disk drive mode by dragging down the notification bar, click Charge Only and change it to Disk Drive mode.
On your computer, transfer the PG86IMG zip file to the phone. Don't put it inside any folder, just drag it on the the Removable Disk that is your phone and wait for it to transfer.
◄●Apply S-Off and Flash Recovery●►
Go to the revolutionary exploit folder that you extracted and run the "revolutionary" application file that is inside by double clicking.
It will give you your serial number. If it doesn't this can be found under your battery on your phone or on the box your phone came in. Open up the revolutionary.io page that we left open (after downloading the exploit) and put this serial number into the Serial Number section.
Select your operating system, device, and HBOOT version (also shown in the command prompt from the revolutionary exploit that we are running).
Click Generate Key and type the key it gives you into the open command prompt and hit enter. Let it the exploit run. It may reboot a few times.
It will ask if you want to install ClockworkMod recovery. I select n for No, but you can say yes. It may crash. If it does. Just skip it. We will install a recovery now anyways.
Your phone should now be in Fastboot and say S-Off at the top. Use the Volume Down button to go down to Power Down. Click the power button on your phone to select it.
Take off the back of the phone and take out the battery for 10 seconds.
Put the battery back in, put the back on, HOLD the Volume Down button and then press and HOLD the Power Button at the same time and it will boot into HBOOT .
It will ask if you want to start update (of the PG86IMG.zip that we put on the phone). Press Volume Up for yes.
◄●Install Superuser Permissions●►
When it is done, we need to delete the file. So press the Power Button to reboot the phone and let it start up. PLUG IN your phone while its booting up.
Your phone will go through Hands Free Activation. Let it do this and then press OK.
Let it do the PRL Update and press OK.
Cancel the firmware update or just wait for it to fail.
Drag down the notification bar and put your phone into disk drive mode. If it doesn't show up, unplug your phone and plug it back in.
On your computer, delete the PG86IMG.zip from your phone.
Download this Superuser file and transfer it to the phone to the same location as the deleted PG86IMG (i.e. not inside any folder, just directly on the phone).
Power off the phone(hold the Power Button and select Power Off)
Wait for it to completely turn off. Once off hold down the Volume Down button and the Power Button to boot into HBOOT. If it doesn't boot into HBOOT, take out the battery, put it back in, and try again.
Use the Volume Down button to go down to Recovery and select it by pressing the Power Button
Once in recovery, select Install Zip (by pressing the power button)
Select Choose Zip to Flash (by pressing the power button)
Use the Volume Down button to go down to the superuser zip file that we put on the phone and select it by pressing the Power Button.
It will install quickly. Use the Volume Down button to go down to Reboot and select it with the Power Button
You are now complete rooted with S-Off and a custom recovery. Once booted, you can login to Google, download Titanium Backup, and Restore your apps by opening TB, hitting Menu>Batch and selecting Restore all apps with data
You're now rooted!
◄●Notes●►
I can't make calls or send text messages (Error 16): ~Thanks bk718~
Make a phone call to anyone/any number and stay on the phone.
It will automatically connect you to a particular sprint department that handles this issue. It should take just a couple minutes and they will fix the error.
Updating my profile fails:
Download "MSL Reader" from the market and run it to get your MSL, a 6 digit number
Go to the Dialer(Phone) and dial ##3282#
Select Edit Mode
Select Data Profile
If it already shows your User Name, press Menu>Restore
Input under "User Name" the email address that you wrote done before rooting.
Press Menu>Commit Modifications
Very nice, clean guide. Will try it out when I get home.

Hey Max,
Yes you're right. I just find it beneficial to do the quick temp root to back everything up in case anything goes wrong. I also always feel having a clean slate is the best way to go. Because of that, you'd need to backup prior to rooting. Thanks for the feedback and nice work on your site.

Yeah. I even hard reset my phone and put it back to s-on. (had s-off but my internet failed b4 the clock work mod was installed) so I thought that was the problem but I guess not. I've only gotten 2 beta keys so far. Should I try another internet browser or something? Racking my brain on what the problem is.

Try doing another factory reset on your phone, turning fastboot off, and running it again. These auto-roots are sometimes finicky.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Added a "Notes" section to the guide that addresses this and any other issues that come up.
This will also unroot, relock bootloader, and send phone back to stoock rom, but if you have a backed up rom then they can all be reversed easily.
I am new to this and this will be my 1st post so bare with me. I've tried to make the difficulty very easy for beginners because I'm a beginner.
Copy & Paste URLs in your Internet browsers because I can't post URLs I guess.
Yesterday I Bricked my phone trying to unroot and stock my Photon. I was
searching and trying different techniques to unbrick it for 7 HOURS!!! So I put a bunch of stuff together to get to this...
Requirements:
1.Motorola Photon 4G
2.PC
3.Backup ROM on PC or External SD Card (If you don't have one backed up then find a ROM that supports Motorola Photon 4G
4.Android SDK on PC:developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
How I unbricked my phone:
Charge your battery to 100% if you can before starting
1. Install one of the SBF files with RSD Lite on (this will take you back to stock, which means this will unroot your phone and relock your bootloader if it's unlocked. But they both can easily go back to rooted and unlocked)
Follow the directions:youtube.com/watch?v=J94VcWk-CJc&feature=relmfu
2. After thats done try to restart your phone
If it doesn't boot all the way up then don't worry...
Turn your phone off by taking the battery out.
3. Go on your PC go to the folder of your backup rom (or take your external sd card out of your phone and put that into the PC and copy the backup somewhere on the PC then put the sd card back into your phone) and you should have the following files inside the folder of the backup you chose... "boot.img" and "recovery.img" Copy those files to the Android folder in your C: directory. C:/Users/(name of your PC/Android) mine would be in the C:/Users/LocoRobo/Android directory, yours will be different. (if yours is not in that directory then you will have find where you put it or where android sdk extracted it to)
4. Hit the "start" button on PC then type "cmd" into the search box then you should see a program at the top that says 'cmd.exe' open that.
5. You should see a line that says C:/Users/(the name of your PC) that's good. (if your Android folder (or android-sdk folder) is not in that location then you'll have to find out where it is and navigate to it on cmd) now type "cd Android" (or "android-sdk" if you don't have a folder name android) in the command box.
Now we will start.
6. While phone is off and go into fastboot mode (hold the vol. down key and the power key at the same time until you see 'fastboot' on the top of your screen) once you're their, hit the vol. up key, then you should see something on your screen like "entering fastboot protocol support" (I really don't remember) now connect your phone to your PC.
7. Got back to cmd that you have open in your PC. Type in the following commands into the command box (beginner note: hit enter after each command):
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot -w
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
8. You're phone will reboot and it should power all the way up!!!
Now if you want to reroot and reunlock your phone then follow these steps as well. (this will also get you back your service as well)
9. When your phone first reboots it will go into setup and stuff, just skip everything except the google account login.
10. Watch and follow these video's instructions (doesn't matter which order):
Reroot:youtube.com/watch?v=SaJ0uiExdFM
Reunlock:youtube.com/watch?v=BwRjFrzClBs
11. Now download Rom Manager from the market and go into the app and hit "flash clockworkmod recovery" Now hit "reboot into recovery" go into recovery and restore your backup (a working one of course)
And That's all folks!!! If you like and it works please hit thank you or whatever! Any questions ask and i'll try my best to answer them (I'm still new to this).
Oh yeah and thanx to QBKing77 for the videos.
do anyone have the sbf file of japanese official rom ?
my phone is brick
No idea...
sorry

If you can do this, then your phone isn't bricked. It may be broked, but it ain't bricked. It's only a brick when you can't flash something and get it working again. By definition, there is no unbrick.
So you're saying that if i bricked my phone I would not be able to use it ever again? I know that If you can get into the recovery mode you are not bricked, but when I did this the only thing i could go to was fastboot mode and rsd mode (recovery wouldn't open) so it really was a brick.

Yes, that's what makes it a brick.

I know that If you can get into the recovery mode you are not bricked, but when I did this the only thing i could go to was fastboot mode and rsd mode (recovery wouldn't open) so it really was a brick.

Nope, it was just broken. But fixable. I've had plenty of times my phone was unusable. If you spend much time hacking and flashing, you will, too. But as long as you can flash, you can fix it, and it's not bricked.
I didn't flash anything. I use rsd lite through a PC (maybe you could call that a flash but thats more of a forced flash from a PC, then just being able to download a flash normally through your phone). I've broken my phone about 5 times now and I've only had this phone for like 2 or 3 weeks. The times I broke it is when i was still able to go into clockworkmod (recovery mode). This last time, I couldn't do anything but fastboot and rsd mode.

RSD is definitely for flashing. In fact, I'd say this is more "flashing" than is installing a zip file in recovery, since the latter is really just basic file operations that you theoretically could do while Android was running, if the files you're replacing aren't in use.
It's unlikely that anybody will call you out for arguable semantics of the word "flashing", but "brick" is pretty strictly defined as "no good for anything but a paperweight, unless you have warranty service, and then only if the shop tech doesn't figure out what you've done." If you can fix it (and if you can flash anything via any method, you can), it's not bricked, just borked.
Okie dokie then. If thats what u believe then you can tell the world because most people call things like this (the post) a brick...
I've never heard anything like (what you're sayin) that...
Yeah, you definitely didn't have a brick. I truly bricked my epic touch the other day along with many other people and the only solution was to get a replacement. It's very hard to brick a photon or most other motorola phones that have an available sbf file to flash with rsd lite. I started with the original Droid and have heard of maybe 2 or 3 true bricks, and those were phones that devs were using to test the boundaries of the phone.
And you're correct that a lot of people say they bricked their phone. But that doesn't mean that they actually did.
okay I see.
I needed to do a different step
I did steps 1 & 2 and then my phone would boot up and show the Sprint animation and then reset. The solution was to follow the instructions on the Motorola site to factory reset from the boot loader:
Perform a factory reset using external keys
Power off the phone, press and hold volume down button, press power button
Screen will come up with "Fastboot", press Vol down key to cycle through choices until you get "Android Recovery", then press Vol up key
Wait for the "triangle ! / Android" screen then go on to step 4
Press both Vol up and Vol down key simultaneously. A menu will come up
Tap on Vol down key until "wipe data/factory reset" is highlighted, and tap Power key. Another Confirmation screen will come. Tap on Vol down key until coming to Yes and tap Power key
After userdata is cleared, the "reboot system now" option will be highlighted by Default. Tap Power key
Phone will reboot to initial setup screen.

Oh yeah and thanx to QBKing77 for the videos.

this does not work with 2.3.5
Read through:

You might also consider trying to flash a locked ROM, e.g., MOF.ish Slim Photon.

Hello, I need the recovery.img and boot.img to recover my Photon 4G Android 2.3.5
Hello, how can I get the boot.img and recovery.img files? Could you please put this files in a ftp server so I could get it?
Thanks,
Kiroga
I used the newest droid razr utility to root my phone. This was successful. I then from the bat file after the rooting was completed installed the safestrap.apk and then the overclock install. These were successful although i didn't test the overclocking out.
I then installed safestrap from within the app on the phone (presumably flashing the recovery). I then realized that I didn't really need the safestrap and then used it's uninstall feature. I then opened the razr utility again to install the razr bootstrap. It successfully moved to the phone and rebooted normally. I then installed it from the app on the phone and used after that used the option to reboot into recovery from the app.
The last thing I wanted to do was to modify the webtop app so I could use it without the dock. So using the file I found here. I then went into recovery (which worked) then I cleared the dalvik cache and regular cache then tried to flash the file. I moved the file to the root of the internal storage however when I went to try to find the file I ended starting in the external storage (recovery was looking in the external card by default). Then I went pointed recovery to the internal storage and choose "install from sd card". Which leads me to where I am now.
I am now stuck on the recovery screen. The flash never seemed to happen and I can't use any of the options on the recovery screen. everytime I hit the power button now the recovery options disappear without anything happening. The background of the box with the little android next to it stays but everything else goes away. I can still navigate the options with the vol up and down arrows but i can't seem to do anything. Also the computer no longer detects if the phone is plugged in. I did not have the ADK installed on the computer this was done from. My next step is to use my netbook which does.
The droid razr utility version I used was 1.42 which I got from this thread
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have attached the phone to my netbook with the ADK installed. The phone is not detected by the computer and "adb devices" does not list the phone being present.
I'm kind of thinking I'm screwed.
edit: Issue resolved. I'm apparently a moron. when I was pressing the button for the option "install zip from sdcard" my hand was in a weird shape and I must have hit more than one button at the same time. I guess I accidently disabled the back button (the power button). I also accidently re-enabled it somehow playing with it in frustration. The phone works fine now. If the mods wish to delete this thread they may do so.

Scrolling completely through the options 3 times disables the back button. To re-enable just scroll through the options again. You apparently disabled the back button unintentionally and through your "frustration" re-enabled it.
I would like to give credit to everyone who has worked on the android roms, and other guides. I have taken some of the info for this guide from the WIKI
It seemed we were due for a friendly how to guide on how to load a NAND rom on a RHOD device. I decided to write a step by step guide to help people out. This guide does provide a very basic ADB setup, but it is just enough to get you up and running. If you want to do advanced things you should get the full ADB, and learn more about it.
This guide is written for a RHOD400, Android GBX0*+3.4.26 rom, and a Win7 pc, but should be almost identical for the rest of the RHOD family, other versions of Windows, and most other roms.
It is assumed that you have unlocked your phone for custom rom loading in the past at some point. This is not the same as unlocking the sim card. This is 100% required. Please read here and/or here, and/or here if you need help with unlocking your phone.
This guide assumes that you know what a command prompt is, how to load windows drivers for a device, and can open zip files. If these things are not within your skill sets I would recommend that you find someone who understands these things to assist you.
Things you need.
1. A RHOD phone.
2. A micro SD card that is at least 512mb in size.
Tip: I suggest a sd card that is less than 4gb in size. There tends to be less compatibility issues with non SDHC cards. SDHC cards usually work, but if you have trouble this is a good thing to change. The SD card does have to be less than 64gb in size as the phone can not read cards larger than 32gb.
3. A usb based micro sd card reader. A usb based card reader is need to be compatible with the HP format tool. Some built in ones are usb based others are not. If you have one, you can try it and see if it works. It is not recommended to use your phone's sd card reader for prep work.
4. A usb cable that is known to work. Test it in WM first. On rare occasion I have seen cables that did work with WM and not Android. If you have issues, this is also something good to swap out during trouble shooting.
5. A windows based pc. *DO NOT USE USB 3.0 PORTS* Many reports about have come in about them causing issues.
The procedure.
1. Back up anything you want to keep from your phone. Everything on the phone will be wiped during this process.
2. Put the micro sd card into your USB card reader and format with the HP format tool. It needs to be a full fat32 format. Windows format is known to have issues on occasion, and this step is a work around for that problem. It is not 100% required, but if you have trouble it is 100% required during trouble shooting.
3. While this is formatting you can download the recovery (recovery_cwr_6.0.1.3.img) ***It has been found that the 6.0.1.3 recovery does not make backups correctly, resulting in md5 errors. You may use it if you are not planning on using the backup feature, or the older one by acl works fine. You can rename it to use the included scripts if you wish.***, rom (GBX0*+3.4.26 Full) , the boot loader, the needed usb android drivers, and the adb files.Gapps is optional.
4. Make sure your battery is at least 50% charged. I recommend a 100% charge. A dead battery in the middle of flashing can brick your phone.
5. Copy the RHODIMG.NBH, rom (GBX0*+3.4.26 Full), and the gapps (optional) files to the sd card and put it in your phone with the phone turned off.
6. Press the hold down the volume down button while pressing the power button. This will bring up the tri colored screen. It will then automatically go to the white rom update screen.
7. Follow the directions (press the power button on the RHOD400) to start the update. This should take less than 1min.
Troubleshooting tip:
If the phone sits at loading 0%, and never moves after 10 min you may not have unlocked your phone or there is an issue with your RHODIMG file. Verify that you have unlocked your phone (you can try loading a WM custom rom), format the SD card, re-download the RHODIMG file, and try again. Also try another SD card and SD card reader.
8. If the phone reboots automatically, that is fine. Otherwise when the phone says Update Success you can pull the battery to shut it off.
9. Turn the phone back on. You should see a blue miniPooploader screen with a lot of white text scrolling for a moment. When it gets done, pull the battery to shut it off. Then replace the battery (it should still be off)
10. Connect the usb cable between the phone and the PC, and turn the phone on. The PC should see the device, and may or may not assign drivers to it.
11. Install the USB/fastboot driver for the phone. On Win 7 the phone showed initially as android device under other folder in the device manager. After the driver is installed it should be called My HTC.
12. Open the ADB Tools zip file, and put the platform-tools folder on c:\
13. Open a command prompt and go to c:\platform-tools\.
Once there type:
Code:
fastboot devices
You should get a response similar to this:
C:\platform-tools>fastboot devices
HT04TM300704 fastboot
If this is not working stop now and troubleshoot.
14. Now to wipe the phone in prep for loading (or reloading) the android rom.
There is a wipe.bat file I have included. You may run it, or you may type the following commands.
Code:
Fastboot erase recovery
Fastboot erase boot
Fastboot erase misc
Fastboot erase system
Fastboot erase userdata
Fastboot erase cache
15. Place the recovery (recovery_cwr_6.0.1.3.img) file into c:\platform-tools.
16. Now load the recovery image. If it is named recovery_cwr_6.0.1.3.img you may use the reload_recovery.bat or type:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery_cwr_6.0.1.3.img
to load the recovery image then
Code:
fastboot boot recovery_cwr_6.0.1.3.img
to boot the recovery image.
17. Install the rom.
Using the volume keys highlight 'Install zip from sdcard' then press the call button to select it.
Highlight 'choose zip from sdcard' and press the call button to select it.
Highlight the rom file (GBX_3.4.26_Full.zip) and press the call button to select it.
Highlight yes and press the call button to select it.
The rom will now install. This will take a few minutes.
18. (optional) Install Gapps.
Using the volume keys highlight 'Install zip from sdcard' then press the call button to select it.
Highlight 'choose zip from sdcard' and press the call button to select it.
Highlight the gapps file (probably gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip) and press the call button to select it.
Highlight yes and press the call button to select it.
Gapps will now install. This will take a few minutes.
19. Press the back arrow, and select reboot system now.
The phone should reboot into the Android rom now. It will take about 10min the first time. If you have waited more than 30 something has gone wrong. You should troubleshoot and try again.
At this point you have the basics all in place, and can start using your phone.
If you want to do basic ADB tasks (along the lines of installing apps remotely/side loading or pushing/pulling files) you will need to install the adb windows driver.
20. Press the thanks button if you liked this guide.
P.S.
If you have issues getting adb to work later, download and use USBDeview.exe to remove the HTC driver entries and then install pdanet for android to get the correct adb drivers installed.

Well if you have not listed all your trouble shooting steps, you will not get help from anyone. Our physic abilities are lacking these days.
Also posting specific questions in the thread about the rom you are trying to install will have a higher chance of getting useful feedback.

Well if you have done all necessary things, then your phone must not be compabtiable.
Maybe if you provided a list of your troubleshooting steps we might be of more help... Otherwise we have no choice, but to bow to your knowlage of having done all necessary things.

Thank you WizardKnight for replying me.
This is the steps i use to do.
1. I use RhodiumWUnlocker to unlock my rhod500 , to get any rom loaded with it
2. I copy RHODIMG.NBH, GBX_3.4.24_Full, recovery_cwr_6.0.1.3 all to my 4gb SDard
3. Vol- + PWR and phone turns to the tri color screen, then the phone started to load the image files
4. I press PWR butt to start the update, within a couple of seconds the phone update successfully
I press resest button for the phone to boot up to see if it will go to the fast boot screen.
But i was unlucky always the phone restart itself within some seconds.

Sounds like you just need to flash CWM... the CWM recovery image doesn't go on your SD card, you flash that from your computer using the "fastboot flash" command...
You can also try "fastboot boot <recovery.img>" - w/o the < >. Remember, this is done on your computer. That's why you need the fastboot drivers...

You Mean This .
9. Turn the phone back on. You should see a blue miniPooploader screen with a lot of white text scrolling for a moment. When it gets done, pull the battery to shut it off. Then replace the battery (it should still be off)
My Phone doesn't bring this window

You described this screen (scrolling text, blue background?) I remember you said you got it to fastboot, no?
Where is your phone getting to?
edit: nevermind fiddled with it, dont know what i did but it worked
I have a rhod400. I have been messing with OMGB as my daily phone OS since July 2012 and just installed this one about a week ago.
I have two questions/issues
1) Every time I try to reboot, it freezes. When I try to power off, it sometimes freezes, but usually reboots.
2) I can't seem to make persistent changes to the hosts file. After every reboot, it's set to the same old generic "127.0.0.1 localhost"
During boot, does the OS unpack a .img or something with the hosts file packed inside it? If so, where is it?
Thanks, guys. Other than these 2 issues, this flavor of android for rhodium is pretty solid. i like it.

Please put rom specific questions in that rom's thread.
If you are running a newer than.27 kernel the reboot and power off functions do not work properly in any rom.
I believe that the host file is overwritten by the ram disk/boot.img on boot every time. Any changes will not stick.
There is a chance these issues may be fixed on the next release of GBX, but no promises.

This isn't enough information to help you.
If you're not going to provide detailed information on what is happening, no one will be able to help you.
Perhaps NAND is not for your device. Flash back to WinMo.
