All of a sudden, I cannot access WPA2 networks on wifi anymore. WEP networks work fine. My school's WEP network conebut when I try to connect to a WPA2 network, here's what happens:
1. phone connects successfully.
2. open browser
3. attempt to load google/yahoo/cnn/bing
4. loading inevitably fails
Does anyone have the same problem? Any proposed fixes?
Wolfbreak's CM ROM. BB58. THANKS!
Hey,
I'm having major problems with wifi on my x10. Yesterday, the phone suddenly couldn't access the internet over my home wifi network, which has a WPA2 personal passphrase. The phone still showed up as connected to the network, but could not get online. I reflashed my x10 with SEUS twice, reformatted my memory card, triple checked my router settings, but no matter what I do, I cannot get WPA2 personal keys to work. WEP keys work perfectly. Does anyone have the same problem? Can anyone help me out?
Baseband .54
Stock Android 2.1
Thanks!
For a lot of custom roms, the ability to automatically connect to WPA- and even some WEP-encrypted networks is a challenge, and not many people seem to know the specific reason for it.
A lot of people have been using a free app from the Market called Blade Wifi Fix, which has mixed results (I haven't had it work for me, but it does for other people).
The fix I use is to disable Wifi, then re-enable it, wait for it to show Disabled on my wifi access point, then choose it and press connect. That usually works for me. But again, that's just for me.

Ive discussed this problem multiple times, but im reviving it as i have some new information.
my xv6800 on dcd 3.0.1(will flash to 3.0.4 later today) has an issue with the wifi. i tested and discovered that the problem persisted on the stock rom, and after more testing, i think i ahve narrowed the problem down to one possible culprit..maybe
Multiple AP's with one SSID.
My wifi worked at home with few issues, and it works off campus at an place with an AP that i spend time at. the issue comes up when im on campus and i connect to the APs in the dorms and the classroom areas etc...
everywhere else, the SSID's are unique, so there is no confusion(for my phone) but when im at school and i use it, i can connect to the AP, named "buwireless", but when the phone goes to standby and comes back(and tries to connect again) the wifi shuts off and wont come back until a soft reset. what i have been able to do, to be able to use the wifi at school, is to remove the settings that it saves, and just manually connect each time.
I did this because i think the problem occurs when the phone has to connect to the SSID that it know, "buwireless" but the problem is that there are multiple AP's with that same buwireless ssid but with multiple MAC addresses. is it possible that the many APs with the same ssid could be giving me issues?
i dont know what else it could be given the fact that it works very reliably in most places, but at school its not like the phone doesnt work well with that ssid, its that the wifi on the phone actually stops working when it is confronted with that ssid. it wont search for others, and wififofum wont work either.
any more thoughts would be appreciated, and of course similar experiences would be interesting as well.
thanks
I upgraded my X10i to 2.1 and my Wifi is not working. I have confirmed that it is not the router etc. since the wifi works on my PC and my Wife's X10 mini pro.
When I turn on the wifi on my X10 it scans fine and finds my wireless router no problem. When I connect (using my WPA password) everything looks fine and the wireless indicator appears in the statusbar. HOWEVER, when I try to connect to the internet via the browser/market/facebook it returns a message saying NO NETWORK FOUND (no internet connection via wifi) !!
I have already tried -
*reset to factory settings
*reinstall of 2.1 via SEUS
*re-connecting to wireless router with WPA password.
Nothing works!!
Can anybody help?
Is there any way to reset the wifi on my phone?
hi, i had this problem after the upgrade, i changed to the name of my router and then it was fine. try that.
UPDATE - I can get the wireless connection on my X10 to work when it is not encrypted (ie with WEP, WPA etc.)
Now I really don't know what is going on....
Anybody out there to give some advice? pleeeeeeeeaaaase
Thanks
nvm sorry I see that you did every thing.
is just weird had that prob when having nordic now i don't
try installing 1.6 and see if it's the fw or the phone
Sometimes try adding connection manually, then the wifi suddenly detects it from that point onwards..
After i upgraded the firmware to 2.1, my wifi just stops working. When i turn wifi function on, there is wifi logo appearing on the top of the screen and never detects any wifi access point. Anyone knows what is going on? Is that a bug of 2.1? as wifi was working fine with 1.6

I think the 1st time it needs a little push. Try turning WiFi off, back out of settings, back in turn on, go to wi-fi settings and manually select. That worked for me. Had similar with bluetooth.
I have the same issue with 2.1 upgrade and Wifi + WPA2 router protection!!
Wep protection works fine! but for me is not ok it is a weak wifi protection I need WPA2!
please help
I read that wifi fixer may work however I cannot test it untill I reset my modem or switch to Wep....
can some one test wifi fixer? thanks.

I have recently returned to my apartment with my brand new archos 70. I use WPA2-PSK encryption for my wifi network. at first everything was golden, I could browse the web and whatnot just fine. as of a few days ago, wifi has not been working correctly. my device connects to the network (pulls an ip address from the router) but when I try to browse web pages or open web based apps they hang up and act as if I have no connection. it works fine on other networks (to limit the problem to my network) I have tried doing a factory reset of the device, tried power cycling my router and modem with no luck. I have also changed encryption types to no avail. i have the latest firmware for the gen 8 series. also from time to time during this session of events, sometimes it will connect to the router, then disconnect and reconnect. I have no clue whats going on because I havent changed any router settings since I got back. the only other devices on my wifi network are two laptops. any help would be appreciated.
you mean you restored to the factory settings ran through the start up all over again and it still won't connect to your router? have you tried any other types of connections or routers?
I had this problem just the other night was this close to reformatting the whole thing. but I solve the problem by turning the device off, then holding the reset button while it rebooted to turn it off again, an reinitializing the drivers.
how do you reinitialize the drivers? I did a factory wipe. and it connects, it shows as having network connectivity (even my router lists it as a dhcp client and currently making use of the access point) but no internet functions work. ive connected to other networks fine.
This happened to me when I first got my A70. What I had to do to fix it (after getting incredibly pissed, reformatting twice, and almost returning the thing) was to set it up to use a static IP address on my home wifi network. Don't know if it'll solve your problem, but it works beautifully for me and I'm able to enjoy the device now.
Just remember to uncheck "use static IP address" when you get on other wifi networks.
well, I set up static addressing, gave it a private ip, set up the gateway and dns, and it still wont connect to anything.
If set as wireless N, set as N+G or G only, latest firmware may have trouble connecting to wireless N networks.
na, I dont have it set to n, I have it set to auto which I believe puts it to g with my archos. thing is, it used to work. now it suddenly has problems.
Im beginning to wonder if the archos tablets are just picky about wireless routers. I wouldnt think so...
Upgrade the firmware
Archos published a firmware upgrade to solve this problem (December 2010). The related bug in the release notes is...
Wi-Fi: fix Wi-Fi stuck after a while when using WPA2/AES encryption mode
The new firmware download link is in the Archos website.
you can download the firmware to your computer, copy it to the root directory of the tablet using the USB cable, and run the upgrade process in the tablet.
... or you can use another WiFi network (without WPA2/AES) and download the update in the same tablet
Note: I cannot send the links, however you can use the information to search the links in the internet.
Hey guys,
I have a problem with my wifi...
Here is the before: Wifi works about 70% of the time, occasionally the connection would be dropped (as in "no network access", it still said it was connected).
Here is what then happened (in that order): Wanted to find a less crowded channel and installed Wifi Analyzer. Quickly decided that Channel 1 would be cool, browsed to the router configuration on the Desktop machine (LAN connection), changed the channel. Back to home on Android (don't remember whether via the home or back button). Into settings to see whether I would have to rescan or whether it would pick up the change of channel itself. It couldn't connect... It scans and attempts to connect, but doesn't
What I tried:
I restarted the Galaxy. Still couldn't connect.
Deleted the connection and re-entered the passphrase. Still couldn't connect.
Uninstalled Wifi Analyzer. Still couldn't connect.
Restarted device again. Still couldn't connect.
(At some point during all this, probably quite early, the Wifi symbol also stopped showing up in the status bar. Doesn't appear no matter whether Wifi is on or off)
Switched back to the channel I came from. To no avail
Switched of encryption on the Wifi. Still to no avail
Any ideas as to what might have happened and, more importantly, how to fix it? As I said the connection itself has never been the most reliable, but this is a different league
Thank you everyone!
Sandro
If you haven't tried it yet, reset your router. That fixes the majority of Wi-Fi issues out there. If that doesn't work, it may be your router itself. Certain routers have more issues with mobile phones than others.
You may want to go to a friends house and try connecting to his router and see if you can troubleshoot and isolate the issue. Either way, best of luck...

Damn you sitecom router!!!
Alright, one thing I hadn't tried until now was to restart the router. That fixed everything including (for whatever reason) the lack of the Wifi symbol!!
So if that is possible feel free to delete this thread! I didn't find the option anywhere...
Sorry for the unjustified disturbance
Sandro
So I know wifi in android is buggy, this isn't a question about that.
My Touchpad won't connect to my wireless network at work. (in webOS or android) It always fails the IP configuration part. My android phone connects fine, and my laptop, and my iPad.
Kind of kills the usefulness of the tablet for me. Wondering if I should call up HP before my 90days are up.
Thanks in advance
I have had no issues with webOS 3.0.2 or 3.0.4 at work or home (and I run a number of access points at both locations). Always connects by itself everytime. Too early to tell with 3.0.5 but no issues so far.
Have you tried other routers? It could be just some issue with your router. Have you tried to manually assign an IP, I know you can in android.

It connects to my home network fine, just not the work one. Tried manually assigning an IP and that didn't work in either OS. Going to install the update to webOS and see if that fixes things.
As poster above mentioned, corporate/work networks seem to be the only thing that webOS MIGHT not play well with occasionally. I've gotten it to successfully connect to my work's 802.1x EAP network. It actually worked quite well, but then sometimes it stumbles a bit before connecting.
For the most part though, webOS wifi works just fine. Of course, this is because HP dev'd it with the drivers they have, that we DONT have, and most likely will never have.
Wifi now connects on both OS's after updating webOS to 3.05
Lol go figure

It hasn't before for you? I'm curious about your experience.
The deal with Wifi in android is multi-faceted:
1. Accessing the wifi options sometimes crashes the thing, and you have to force close the settings app and try again.
2. With Wifi on, the wifi menu can be quite sluggish
3. A lot of times, it wont even scan for networks. It just says disconnected for ages, or will eventually scan, then try to connect, but never get past "Acquiring IP address".
4. A lot of times it will randomly lose its connection, yet still indicate that it's connected just fine. A toggling of the wifi usually fixes this, but also starts you at square 1 with attempting to connect to an AP. For some people, this process can be a nightmare.
5. Some people simply cannot connected to their secured network at all. Period.
Are you experiencing any of these issues still?

Before update:
never had any problems with wifi at all, except it just wouldn't connect to either of my two networks at work in either OS. Neither OS could get past the IP config stage. Tried manually assigning IPs in both OS's but that accomplished nothing. Home 5ghz network zero issues.
After update:
Instant connection, no issues.
