Wireless Network Location Issue? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Odd issue after a fresh flash of Bionix NextGen...
My wireless network location will only show up in maps when Wi-Fi is on (connected or unconnected to a network), when off and when only connected to data location will not update and remain stuck at the last point I turned Wi-Fi off. I've tried flashing a new modem and wiping dalvik to no avail. (Yes, location is enabled in settings). Anyone else having a similar issue?
Edit: Apparently, the location is just not registering on 3G/HSPDA networks...I forced it to use 2G network and location immediately registered. Any ideas on how to fix this? Possibly a T-Mo network issue?

Same happened to me on AT&T network. It takes time for Google to recognize newly installed/updated towers.

Strange. Never had this issue before on HSPDA network and I'm in a location I've frequently been to. I'll just wait and see when it corrects itself.

Maybe a bad flash? I came from stock jfd..how long did it take google to recognize your location.

1-2 months.

[Q] [AT&T] Losing data connection when leaving wi-fi network

I don't believe I was having this problem at first, but now when I leave a wi-fi connection at home or at work, and I try to use the data connection it doesn't work. The phone is not switching to the cell towers for some reason. I have to disable data, and sometimes wi-fi, and then re-enable data on the phone to get a connection. Or reboot
This is stock btw. Anyone else have this problem? AT&T support was no help
Edit> Just left my work network to test it out and it switched this time, so it doesn't happen every time. Which makes it more frustrating.
Mine was working just fine a couple hours ago, now I get absolutely no data. This is very frustrating.

Problems connecting to some wifi networks (GT-i9100M)

Hey all,
I've had my Galaxy S II GT-i9100M for a bit more than two months now. It's been on ICS 4.0.3 since the first day I got it, and is unrooted.
Wifi was working fine the first month or so that I've had it. However, in the last month, while trying to connect to my university's networks from the wifi settings screen, it will display "connecting" for a long time, then change to "saved", without successfully connecting to the network. Odd thing is, if I turn the wifi on and off repeatedly, it may connect eventually, with around a 5-15% success rate each try. However, there's also a relatively high chance it will automatically disconnect itself within a few minutes.
The school has three main wifi networks: one is unsecured, while two are secured with exactly the same authentication methods (PEAP + MSCHAPv2) and takes the same login credentials. All three have the same problem when I try connecting. It's not a problem with signal strength, either, since my friends nearby can connect using their phone or laptop without any problems.
Here's what I've already tried to do to fix this:
Asked the school's IT helpdesk
Forget both secured networks so the phone can autoconnect to the unsecured one
Tried wifi diagnostic tools, such as Wifi Analyzer and Wifi Fixer, and tried changing to a better channel
Deselected "back up my data" in the Back Up and Reset settings screen, deleting existing wifi settings from Google's servers
Connect using a static IP address rather than DHCP. Either it has the same Connecting->Saved issue, or says something about "avoided a poor connection"
Did a factory reset, including wiping all user data
The wifi has no problems connecting to my home wireless network, and to most, though not all, other public networks I've tried (same problem as above if it doesn't work).
On a somewhat different note: there are two networks (each of which I've only connected to once at most) that are permanently saved on the list of access points; there's actually no way to forget/delete the network. They even survived the hard resets, and are listed before I link the phone to my Google account. Could this be related to the main issue above?
Is there a fix for this issue? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

JB broke my wifi

I've tried searching and haven't found anyone with the same issue as I.
Jellybean broke my wifi, I had no connection issues before whatsoever.
Now, it still shows it's connected to the network with full strength but when I go to use the internet or any apps, it says there is no network connection, webpage unavailable, no autosync, etc. Things are fine when I go back to 3G and nothing has changed on my phone but the JB update. I've turned Sprint Optimizer off and on, deleted and manually readded all the wifi networks, and am not sure what else to do besides hard reset. Any ideas? Also, I am not rooted.

have you done a complete network reboot (cable modem and wifi router) when having the crappy sprint connection optimizer off?
if this helps you feel free to hit the thanks button
Thanks for the help! I found the answer in another thread... Seems JB automatically turns on "DLNA auto-ip" for some people. The fix that worked for me was Settings>Wifi>Menu>Advanced and uncheck "DLNA auto-ip" at the bottom.

H850 Wifi Authentication Problem

The wifi randomly disconnects and with the error: Authentication Problem. The phone wont reconnect to another wifi hotspot until I manually make it do it. This happenns on the 5GHz band (I haven't tested it on 2.4). This problem doesn't happen with any other device connected to the same wifi router. Does anyone know what could cause this problem?
I had a similar problem where my G5 took ages to connect to WiFi and then it would randomly disconnect.
Try deleting every saved WiFi network you have, except for the ones you use. Just long press each one and hit "forget".
See if that fixes your problem.
I have only 2 saved networks (the 2 bands: 2.4 and 5). The wifi worked without any issue for the last two weeks until yesterday when the phone disconnected with the Authentication Problem error. I have to mention that the phone connects immediately to the wifi if I manually select the network and when I turn on the wifi.
I would then suggest the problem is with the network.
Either reset your network (unplug router, wait, replug) or try with a different WiFi.
I had an outage a week ago and that problem persisted until my provider fixed their problem. These "authentication" issues can be from anything network related.
I will try with another router. The annoying part is that I cannot reproduce the error manually, it's way too random.

WiFi Reconnection issus

Anyone else having problems reconnecting to a WiFi connection, or even seeing WiFi SSIDs after disconnecting from WiFi?
This happens to me intermittently. I have 5 WiFi SSIDs in my house. 2.4G and 5G from the FIOS router, and the same from a WiFi access point on another floor at the other end of the house, and a Guest network from the AP. I can normally see all of them from any point in the house, as well as half a dozen from nearby neighbors. And my s9+ normally connects, automatically, to my primary 5G connection without any problem.
But occasionally, after being out and coming back home, or after the phone has been asleep for a while, it won' see any SSIDs. Not mine, or the neighbors. I've tried scanning for WiFi networks, turning WiFi off, waiting a few, and turning it back on, but it doesn't see anything, and won't connect. I've even tried manually inputting the name of one of my access points, but the phone won't find it.
Turn on WiFi automatically is on, WiFi power saving mode is off (although I've had the same issue with it turned on), Keep WiFi on during sleep was set to While charging. I've changed it to always, but it will be a while to see if that helps.
The only way I've found to get it to see WiFi networks again is to reboot the phone.
Oh, and other devices, including other Android phones, see all the SSIDs without issue.
Any thoughts or ideas?
I have te same issue here, I can't find a fix.
Mine will not connect to mobile date after I turn my wifi off. I have to reboot the phone in order to be able to make a call or use data. It all seemed to happen when a pop up came on to enable wifi calling. I can't figure out how to turn that off.
I don't have acupp1's issue with mobile data, but I seem to have resolved the WiFi connection issue by not letting the phone turn WiFi off during sleep. Haven't had the problem since I changed that setting.
I got the same problem since I rooted
Been trying to figure out if its a VENDOR Firmware problem or what. I do know that every developer says its a bug with the s9 when rooting. I've personally watch the live log on TWRP when flashing and seen where it mounts the VENDOR Firmware and then unmounted at the end. So it could possibly be a problem between TWRP and the s9 ROMs idk know exactly yet but I'm looking for a solution also. But I'm going to try what you did with your WiFi then report back here.
