[Q] Battery chart - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

To be honest i was expecting a slightly longer battery life. Judging from what people write around here their battery life is considerably longer than mine.
I was looking at battery drain chart and was wondering if there is an app or another way i can check what contributes to my phone being 'Awake' as from what i see in the chart it's awake alot. Maybe a bit too much.

Upload a pic of your percentages, that'd help a lot with seeing what your problem is and therefore how to fix it.

Oh god, stop making new threads about the battery life. Your battery life is completely normal. Theres a thread JUST like this posted like 30 mins ago, I'll take my reply off it;

Becuase your phone was in use for a lot of that time.
Normally I get 7-10 hours battery life with my semi-heavy usage.
But yesterday I tested to see if I could get more, I only used the phone for four 5 minute phone calls, tonnes of texts, a little bit of web browsing and a little bit of youtube on 3G and wifi. No games or anything, and the battery still had 40% left after 20 1/2 hours.
But with my normal usage as i said, I get 7 - 10 hours.

long story short. Your battery life is COMPLETELY normal.

[Q] Battery

I am having trouble, the charging LED never turns green for me. It was plugged in overnight. I installed an app called "Battery Monitor Widget" and left it plugged in. The highest it reaches is 3801mAh out of 3840mAh. It was at this state for 2 hours, saying 99% charged. The tech specs say this is a 4000mAh phone, is that rounded from the 3840 the app tells me? or is something terribly wrong with my battery? Anyone else experiencing this?
also, if anyone can recommend a battery monitor app, I would appreciate it. I downloaded the first one I came across that gave actual numbers instead of a bar.
it finally made it to 3840mAh and turned green. It has been plugged in since my first post. Can anyone verify that their phones battery capacity is 3840mAh?
Yes, mine is the same.
I use juice defender ultimate, set cpu and juice plotter.
Works great for me.
I just installed the free JuiceDefender app and it appears to need root to work:

Thank you both. Ever since I left it plugged in for basically two days, it has been charging and turning green in what I consider a reasonable amount of time. I still think I have an underlying problem and expect to have a shortened batter life, but I also think I will upgrade to the next 7" from HTC before it causes frustration.
frh1: your added picture made me even more excited to own the flyer.
I think you're good. These batteries have to go through some charge cycles before the calibrated correctly. Some batteries will never see 100% after a few uses. Both of my Sammy 10.1's would say they were at 100 then as soon as you unplugged them they were down to 98. I thought there was something wrong with my view because it was taking a while to charge. My first view charged very quickly. I guess I didn't notice on the first one because i was playing with it so much, but after a few full drains and then charges it started charging faster. That's one of the things I like about the view, it charges fast.

Battery life w/ ViperROM + JDU

Just wondering if anyone has discussed anything about battery life with this specific ROM and using Juice Defender Ultimate (or not).
I've done a quick search and didn't find anything and I looked on the viperROM thread and I saw the dev claimed he got 19 hours of battery life on it. I'm only getting around 9hrs on it now.
Any ideas\suggestions?

Try calibrating Ur battery. JDU is good to use. Also grab autostarts and stop apps from running in the background. After calibrating your battery life should almost double.
Sent from my Beastly EVO.. And did I mention it has 3D?
I use JD and Viper and no problems. Not real sure what my battery life is because I don't monitor it that much but if I take it off the charger at 6am by 4pm when I leave work it is usually around 75-80%. That is with probably an hour of podcast listening and a few other things like texts and phone calls. Not a power user but not completely ignored either.
It depends on usage... i ALWAYS make it a whole day. Light usage i made it more then two, with a bad wake lock that drained 20% before i noticed it.
I'm on Viper and I use not juice things. Here's the battery life I'm getting.

Download CPU Spy from the market and see if you have any widgets or apps preventing your phone from going into DEEP SLEEP.

[Q] 100% battery several minutes after unplug..

I dunno, maybe its not quite problem, just curious. When I had Palm, there when I unplug my phone, it immediately turn 99, which is normal I guess, because from mathematic view, hope you will understand.
But on my SGS2 I have 100 for some time. I am using Battery widget for monitoring battery, so I see, when I charge there was 4188 mV (calibration used here), I unploged, now it is 4150mV, and still 100%. Weird.
So is there something with it?? Do you have the same with it guys??
Thanks for replies.....

Nothing is wrong. Android uses deep sleep feature which allows it to drain very little energy while locked and throttling while idle, so you'll stay at 100% for a while. That's perfectly normal.
Also if battery loses some of it's physical capacity over time due to charging cycles - the new, lower capacity value will still be reported as 100% when fully charged, it'll just go down faster.
wow is this thread ridiculous.
back in the day, people were satisfied with 3 or 4 battery bars, just to be generally informed whether they would have to charge the device next week or the week after and these days people are obsessed with their battery life (partly due to it being generally poor). i can understand the many people who are falsely claiming the android os bug, most of which are just unable to understand percentages, other people want to show off their battery life by running the phone in airplane mode and never installing any apps, just to show off "who has the longest", while robbing their phone entirely of its purpose...
and here we are, debating about fractions of % of the battery level which mean absolutely nothing.
i guess it makes sense, that 100% stays for longer than a second, because until 99.5 percent, it would round up. or maybe it counts from 100.0 to 99.1 and only when the .0 digit is triggered, the number goes down by one, effectively most of the time showing you 1% more than you have, but honestly, WHO CARES?

[Q] Does this reflect decent battery life?

Hi Guys,
Coming from a blackberry in the past, battery life hasnt been splendid for me at all. Having switched to sgs3, i am running the custom rom and kernel as stated on my siggy.
I am looking to have better battery life if possible. If you guys need more information let me know. I hope the single screenshot is enough.
Please comment if I am experiencing good battery life or not. I am also contemplating to download BetterBatteryStats to check my wakelocks.
Cheers,
Anjoid
P.S Feel free to post your battery life with a screenshot here as well, and I hope to learn more from that. and i cant seem to attach any file. when i click on attach, another window pops up that asks me to sign in. and when i do, it repeats the process.

Please do. There is a free APK of BetterBatteryStats here on Xda.
Since switching to Cyanogenmod9 with DXLF3 modem and Siyah Kernel, by standby battery drain has been between 1-2% with 3G and Sync enabled. It would be even somewhat better if it was von 2G. I also configured the kernel in ExTweaks for better responsiveness on the cost of battery life.
Please specify your usage and battery life. People who only use the phone for the odd phone call experience up to 5 days of battery life, while I usually have 20% left at the end of the day. Totally different usage scenarios.
Also make sure your network supports fast dormancy. To check, dial *#0011# on stock dialer (not Go Dialer!) and check the RRC state if the phone has not been transferring data for some time. It should state IDLE when the phone is connected to HSPA/3G.

[OPX]Better Battery than before !!!!!!!

Just charge phone couple of times from 5-100%(Don't unplug in between, let it sit continuously) and you are good to go . Earlier when i got my phone a week before battery was pathetic(SOT-2.5hrs) and after a week usage and battery calibration i am getting a SOT of 5 hrs around(I can't expect more)

1)Wifi is on 24x7
2)Social Networking(Whatsapp+Hike+Instagram+Facebook)
3)Email push services( 2 Gmail accounts)
4)Browsing(Chrome)
5)6-9 calls (5mins each approx)
I am just loving it (No bugs so far except that SD card 1 which will surely get fixed in next OTA) with superb battery, design aesthetics and yeah main selling point DISPLAY
Hope it helped some lonely surfers who are still finding a way to not buy the phone. I will say don't waste time if you have an invite just grab it. In next month when One Plus will Open source it's kernel, things will be far better placed than now(Custom kernels and roms )
Great.
I am getting a SOT of 4 hours, and generally make it home with 10% left in the tank.
I charge my phone before going to bed till 100. Disconnect. Set the alarm. Goto sleep.
Wake up. Overnight drain is around 10%.
Leave for office at 8. My phone is always connected to wifi or 3G. Also both sims are active. Bluetooth always active.
No email sync. Also I have disabled most notifications except calls. The only thing syncing is Whatsapp. Location disabled.
Also disabled auto brightness.
With similar settings my moto g delivers 6 hours SOT.
So I believe OPX is just average. But still kinda expectsed.
There is a dedicated battery life discussion thread already here,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-x/general/oneplus-x-battery-life-discussion-thread-t3238108
No need for multiple threads on the subject. :good:
Thread closed.
