All,
We really need the help of an experienced kernel developer. Rayman has made a lot of progress on the .36 kernel but this is not his forte and could use some guidance and or assistance in the matter. If you want a solid working copy of honeycomb this is going to be crucial. Please spread the word within all notion ink communities, tweet, spam, do whatever it takes to get the word out. The team hangs out at irc.freenode.net in the ##adamroot channel.
I am trying to send emails sparingly but this is the only way I can call out for help.
Thanks for everyones help!
Andy

Clemsyn's kernel and Pershoot's kernel are both based off of the .32 branch. To get HC fully functional, the .36 kernel branch is necessary. They are basically looking for a couple people to help Rayman out, since he's not a kernel developer primarily. Hopefully they find some people, as this is one of the main things holding up the remainder of the progress for the HC builds (such as the OpenGL/Flash fix).

Yeah, but isn't the first step having someone release kernel source for that branch?
I would think either of the two kernel builders you mentioned would be all over this once it was possible.

uhmm, the .36 source IS readily available and people are trying to get it to work on our hardware...the gtab and adam devs are trying their best but it's tough and getting more kernel experts in on the process will help greatly...kernel dev work is a whole breed of it's own and extremely tough when moving to a new big version like this, but if we want to experience HC to it's fullest then .36 will be necessary and the sooner we get it properly working, the sooner the Roms will be able to be tailored for the greatness
Is there anything further on the .36 kernelport?

Way to resurrect a dead thread guys and draw attention to the fact that this thread should never have been in Development. Thanks!

Everyone of us use Rom Manager. Koush single handedly gave us an incredible and safe recovery. His app Rom Manager and Clockwork Recovery is something EVERY rooted Vibrant has/should have.
For those of us who flash ROMs, it would be nice if the ROMs were supporting Rom Manager. For those who have not used this on other phones, this is what I mean:
On my other devices, I can go to Rom Manager and click on "Download Rom" to find a new ROM (ie switching from Bionix to Auxora and AOSPish, etc).... OR... I could click on "Check for Rom Updates" right from RM, and NOT have to go check websites (especially now that most developers have their own sites where updates may be available sooner).
I found the instructions Koush gave for adding ROMs to Rom Manager.. it seems very straight-forward. You can check them out here if you are interested.
So, I ask... am I crazy for wanting this?
Seems like the developer who does this is going to open up his/their ROM to a LOT more people just due to convenience.
If people were going to go from eclair > froyo > eclair I guess people would need the stock kernels unless the ROMs had a kernel... which is a whole new point.
Not sure why Rom Manager does not backup the kernel.... that would make things a LOT easier too. Maybe @Koush can make it happen one day.
I've wondered the same thing.it's a dead feature at the moment because no roms are supported yet...

Yeah, I've wondered the same thing. I helped a friend root his Droid Incredible and in the ROM Manager there were several different ROMs available for download, and it was really conveninent. It makes me a bit sad that ours has nothing.
Probably because these ROMs are beta. Probably because they are not completely safe to upgrade without people going to the forums. Probably because the devs want to promote their forums.

I don't buy that. On the Droid Incredible CM had their latest beta versions in there with no problem. So did others.
I exclusively use ROM Manager to keep me up to date with the latest CyanogenMod Nightlies...I have tried other ROMs but have yet to find anything as up to date as CM6 Nightly

See, THAT is awesome. Of course those don't wipe data which is a whole other issue.
Master is on board. He has sent everything that's needed to Koush.
So... Looks like all of us Axura lovers are in luck. If you aren't on his froyo, I suggest trying it!
Well... Master sent in everything for Axura, but it is not showing up yet.
I wonder what needs to happen now?
For those Devs that do not want to subscribe to that you could at least create a link or two and let others download via it.

so we now can use Axura 2.0.4 n irom manager?
Well, Master has supposedly sent everything to Koush to make it happen... I think Koush just needs to activate it? I really am not certain how the process gets moving once all the code is done and submitted.
Perhaps this will not take place until .5 is released and it's not on Koush's end??
REGARDLESS... this is going to be an amazing new feature for those who like to flash ROMs. Big props to Master for making it happen so fast. He won me over with his ease at adding this to his plate.
fyi, koush responded. I think this is something we can have for Master's ROMs soon... here is hoping.
This is sweet

Ok noob-ish question...
I have a Galaxy Tab S2 GT-I9100 running gingerbread 2.3.3 (VillainRom 1.4.0) and a non-stock kernel after deciding to be brave and update from 2.2 to 2.3. I've decided to use ICS in the form of the codename android version but, so far, I've not found a good recommendation for which kernel to run with it - I don't even know if it makes a lot of difference/is critical/or what as I'm still only learning about flashing roms, etc.. Matr1x kernel along with codename android seemed to be recommended but that was on a Samsung Note not a Galaxy S2 - does it matter?
NB. I have rooted this phone and installed CWM if that helps.
Can anyone advise me please (with links, if possible)
Thanks, Mark
Hey dude,
To make easy, my humble advice is to start with my new tweaked combo : Wanam + AbyssKernel 2.2.
Take a look :
I can easily last 1hour screen on time with 89- 88% left.
AbyssPlug gov + Noop
Extreme UC UV settings.
Bloatware freezed.

What do you think ? Pretty awesome isn't it ?
Best battery life with really nice performance.
Come on, you should try it..
My two cents.
Thanks for that but as there are so many roms available I really wanted to go with ICS and codename android, at least to start with! I'm not keen on making too many changes and experimenting as I'm only a beginner in this field and the last thing I want to do is make loads of changes and brick it by making a mistake. I certainly appreciate all the effort people like you make and it makes life much easier for the rest of us plebs!
Cheers
Do not mix and match kernels and/or ROM's from other devices. Look under the battery and make sure you have an international GT-I9100 and not a varient such as GT-I9100G.

Definitely the international version

The reason I mention the Matr1x kernel is that is was listed as a good combo in a page on "codename android on Galaxy S2" but it then went on about the galaxy nexus S. I didn't know whether they were different phones or the same phone with different names in different markets.
Anyhow I need to know if my existing kernel is good with ICS or if there is a better one to use on this phone.
Cheers all!

I would recommend the ROM in my sig (click on pic). It is AOKP and has lots of features with good support in thread and on OP.
The Z2 tablet has been out for several months, and I love mine, but there still isn't a single custom rom? I really want to load cyanogenmod on this thing. Is there something stopping development or are there just not any developers who own one of these tablets? I'm sorry for coming off as impatient but I can't find any roms on these forums or anywhere else.

Well, a few days ago Sony relased the kernel sources on GitHub (as anounced here and the actual sources on GitHub are found here). This should mean that more developers will be able to create some ROMs. However, there is only a preview ROM which was posted on this fourm. Note I said "preview" and it's only for the LTE model. Looks like ROMs are in the works.
I will be flashing Cyanogenmod whenever it comes out for the 16GB Wi-Fi model, so hopfully that will come into existence someday . Will be watching these fourms! By the way, I'm not a Developer, however I have been looking over these fourms recently.

Update for "Still not a single rom?"
I'm sure you guys know this, but there is a unofficial release for Cyanogenmod posted on the original development forum for this tablet (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2-tablet/orig-development/z2-tabletdevelopment-cm11-android-4-4-t2809793). Haven't tested it yet however there are a few comments stating that the NFC does not work. Other than that it sounds promising for being in development. Note when you download the ROM there will be "Castor" and "Castor_windy" rom. The "castor_windy" is for the WI-FI model, and the "castor" one is for the LTE supported tablet.
Can anyone get the .zip to download though? It keeps wanting me to pay to download the file. Maybe it's just me though . . .

It would be most helpful if you know how to and have compiled a linux kernel from scratch in the past. The only thing I ask is that you read the entirety of this post before installing.
Download
Setup:
Unable to complete handset setup
After setting up WiFi if you are stuck at handset migration move back to the first language selection screen. Then hit next as fast as you can. Should skip you past problematic screen.
After you have completed setting up your handset install OpenGapps AARM64 architecture
Unable to send or receive phone calls.
After you install OpenGapps phone should begin to work properly again.
After installing let Davik cache rebuild for 10-15 minutes. I don't know why but that fixed it for me.

what is this supposed to be??? Op seems kind of obscure as to what the purpose of the thread is
If you know what those kernel modules are, then you know what it does. I don't want to hold people's hands walking them though how to use it. If that's what XDA is for I'm just going to move it to my website and have this thread locked.
Its a rom with kernel modules so you can run Linux in a chroot with all the capabilities of a laptop for penetration testing. Its like the PwnieExpress. Except it actually works. Well, not yet, but I'm working on it. The things baked into the PwnieExpress anyone can install without having to jump through a million hoops anyway. I'm trying to do the hard stuff of enabling radio frequency hacking on your handset.
Eventually if I ever get a jtagulator I'll rip my phone apart and begin analyzing and dissecting the individual flash nand chips. The broadcom chip on the phone looks to not have been neutered either.

I've been emailing with them as they have a terrible habit of releasing incomplete sources, which do not comply with the GPL v2.0 license present on the Linux kernel.
But, after months of waiting, they finally replied (after going through oppo) that the kernel source for the GT 5G will be released within a month at the time of writing.
So; expect the repo to be updated at 12 November. If not, spam them with emails
