[Q] Help! - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have rooted and installed roms on my vibrant a lot of times...Im not sure I I got into this problem..
-When rebooting to recovery from rom manger, it says signature verification toggle failed
-I toggle signature toggle and everything works fine, until I reboot and try again
I have ODIN'ed back to stock and even re-rooted..still same problem
-When the phone boots it has 2 screens, galaxy s i9000 and then vibrant?
-I have tried changing kernel and everything else I can think of...
Somebody please help me!
-right now Im running bionix 1.3.1, I have also tried to run this from the simply honey roms as well

Well don't understand what the real issue is, but if the custom rom has a ported Galaxy kernel then you would see the Vibrant then> I9000 splash screen or vice-versa
That is not a problem it is supposed to do that
Odin back to stock JFD Make sure to back up everything on the computer then> make sure to click repartition box then flash the re-root then load Rom manager and then flash ---->
Trigger, Bi-winning or Malice from EDT.......... I guarantee what you see will be something much more to your liking.....
Good luck..........

Possible Brick? Please Help...

Description of problem: I had the Bionix 1.3 w/voodoo lagfix and OC kernel and then wanted to try the KIES v15 but it KEIS wouldn't recognize the kernel I assumed. I tried to revert to v14 through ODIN and everything went fine until it rebooted. Now it just gets stuck at the black screen after the boot animation.
I can boot into both recovery and download mode and have tried several other ODIN ROMS to see if one of those would work, but no go. Any ideas from anyone?
edit: Just tried doing the True Stock update to put it back to factory spec and same problem, still black screen after boot. The only way you even know that the phone is on is if you touch on of the soft buttons they will light up, just not do anything.
You need to install Froyo ~~~That does not Brick! Downgrading Is Fine first and then install whatever ROM you want after that.
Also, there is no such thing as v14 or v15 there is JI4 and JI5 (that's the letter "I" not a number "1"). Just FYI.
even though at the topin bold it says "Caution!!! You Must be on STOCK Vibrant Rom & NEVER Have Already Flashed the JP3 Froyo Image"?
Remember I had Bionix 1.3
Edit: No go, now I'm at the international Recovery Screen and can't go any further. The volume buttons are reversed and the power button doesn't select anything. The menu key does something, but I can't figure that out yet.
Bionix isn't Froyo, and neither is JI5, so flashing Eugene's Froyo through Odin should work... You might want to click "Re-Partition" when using Odin that might help.
Well, thanks anyway. What I did next was go back to the True Stock update after the Eugene Froyo you mentioned and it booted up just like normal. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

[Q] Flash Stock using Odin, phone boots fine, but stuck on black screen lights

Hello,
I tried to recovery my phone by using Odin3 to install the stock 2.1 vibrant rom. I am using the rom from the official sticky about fixing a bricked phone.
Odin3 1.0 did not work and it would always freeze on a process even after trying it over and over again at least 5 times. So, I changed to use Odin3 1.7 which I found a link to on xda. This one installed successfully and went through the whole process and my phone rebooted. When it rebooted I saw the Samsung Vibrant Screen, then the T-Mobile screen then the Galaxy S screen fine like normal. But once it got passed the S screen a black screen would come up and all the button lights stay lit up and nothing happens for hours. I tried installing the rom several times, tried different links to the offical JFD stock rom, but everytime I try to install the same thing would happen. What do you recommend I should do to fix this problem?
wipe cache partitin , factory reset in rrecovery ?
Yes, I did. I wiped cache and data, but it still is is still stuck at the black screen.
Your using the JFD.tar in PDA and 512.pit in PIT and Repartition is NOT checked?
Yes, I made sure it was not checked and It was checked automatically the first time and I didn't realize that odin checks that automatically, so I unchecked it and did it a second time. The phone still gets stuck at the black screen with light up buttons.
I am trying the Eugene's Unofficial Froyo rom right now because what initially bricked my phone was installing 2.2 from Kies and that failing. When that failed I unplugged the phone and got the computer to phone icon screen and could no longer boot, so I went to install the stock rom.
The problem I am having with Eugene's Unofficial Froyo rom I am having now is that I have 0 space for applications and cannot install applicants even after doing a wipe and factory reset. Does this have to do with accidently setting it to re-partition and if so, how can I fix the no application storage issue so that I can install applications?
Thanks
I was thinking he designed this ROM just specifically to help bricked vibrants...I think you just use it as a means to reflash another ROM or back to stock or whatever.
I did what you had phone ! PC.. last night to my wife's phone....left it on that screen and plugged into pc with ODIN open..it showed a COM port so I flashed it like that and it boots right up.
I wonder if it has anything to do with Voodoo? I had a Voodoo Lagfix installed prior to doing the upgrade to Froyo 2.2 using the official method. May be why it failed. so I decided to flash back to stock. When I flashed stock 2.1 the phone would boot up then show the Vibrant Screen then the T-Mobile intro then the Galaxy S intro but once it got passed that the screen would go black and the buttons would stay lit up. I flashed Eugene's unofficial 2.2 ROM (no longer posted on xda, but it is on his website). That booted up perfectly, but the problem was that I now had 0 application storages and apps could not be installed on internal memory (could still install apps on SD card, I used this to install Rom Manager to the SD Card to flash Clockwork Recovery just in case)
Today, I tried flashing the Stock 2.1 rom back onto it (Phone was currently running Eugene's rom), but I have the same result with the black screen and lit buttons.
I looked at the FAQ for removing Voodoo and added a folder named "disable lagfix" in the Voodoo folder on the internal SD card. I ran this, but the problem still persisted, so I decided to flash again to see if it would be fixed. Still the same thing occured.
If this is a Voodoo problem, is there another method for removing Voodoo that I could try? I need to make sure that it is restored to the default RFS file structure that came with the phone and flash stock 2.1
Hmmm...odin back to eugenes froyo & unmount ur internal sd & format...go ahead and remove ur microsd & sim also...& then try to odin just the. Tar for jfd no pit ...no repartition..try to use ka6 instead of a 2.1..
Sent from Bionix V powered Vibrant

When you do the disable lagfix are you rebooting and letting it convert the filesystem back to rfs or are you just powering down and going to d/l mode and trying to ODIN? You need to reboot the phone and let Linda do her thing and power up, then power down etc etc..

Yes, I rebooted after applying the disable lagfix, but it booted normally and didn't seem like it was doing the Linda thing....I wasn't sure if it worked or not. How would I know if it is back to using the RFS system?
I tried different roms and I had no luck. The KA6 Rom that flashes via odin installs fine, but it goes to the Recovery Screen the E3 one I think, and when it tries to mount DATA and other partitions it fails to do so, and somethings fail to be wiped. It doesn't boot.
When I run the JFD odin, when it goes to recovery for the first time it has one error where it fails to wipe DATA. Not sure if these are the reasons why I am having problems though.
I formated all partitions including the internal sdcard. Still no luck.
So far the only ROM that I got working is Eugene's 2.2..but I can't install applications with that one.
I tried installing the Bionix V Rom via ClockWork Recovery, but once it begins to Copy Files it errors out with an Error on line 13 and copy's out an error log. I posted a response to the thread about this ROM. I redownloaded to ensure it wasn't corrupted.
*****If you need more information on the EXACT Rom I installed prior to the brick here is the thread to the rom I installed. Maybe that will help you help me more ******
This is the rom I had before attempting to upgrade to Froyo:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=791478
I installed the Stock Recovery version.
Edit: I know this rom above is a kernal mod. I did flash the stock Vibrant kernel prior to installing the JFD ROM from this link: http://www.justanotherdev.slackdev.com/kernel-vibrant-stock.tar.md5.tar
crap dude do yo uhit repartition when u flash ka6 ? if so dont do so if its only update , dont check partiton if you flash just an update , hit partitoon if u flash offical release .
yes go back to jfd repartiton update to ka6 withou repartiton

When I install the JFD with or without repartition I get passed all the boot screens, but it screen goes black and buttons light up..Sorry if I am being a noob and missing something obvious...but I followed those instructions, and I did it multiple times as well.
FIXED!!!
I fixed it wohooo!!!! I flashed Eugene's Froyo that doesn't brick version then flash back to stock JFD and its working perfectly! Thanks XDA! Found out that a lot of people with this issue after having Voodoo installed and installing a different rom, and that this rom was made to fix the Voodoo brick. Funny thing is the Eugene's rom fails on recovery with errors in this case, but it still unbricks the phone lol
Ahhh see lagfix didnt disable..glad you got it working..
Thanks for your help. I now am using the Bionix-V Rom with the Dragon-Kernel Voodoo and let me tell you I love this phone even more now with this Rom. Loving the Gingerbread theme and it runs super fast. Stock is too slow for me lol Anyway, this is resolved no more offtopic posts lol...

[Q] Need Help

Alright i have been trying and trying to get my phone to have the di05modem and be running the Dl30 froyo. I do not know what i am doing wrong nothing seems to be working and i have had to us odin restore files 3 times now. so here i am again
Phone curnnet setup STOCK
Model number
SCH-I500
Firmware version
2.1-update1
Baseband version
S:i500.04 V.DI01
Kernel version
2.6.29
Build number
SCH-I500.DI01
Problem one i am having is getting CWM installed. i try it through odin and it works one time then not the next, giving me the error of E: signature failed oh file i used was clockworkmod ALL.zip
Once i do it it to work i have use odin to then install DJ05modem.tar. It says everything went fine, i let it boot and it works, the modem then says v.dj05
So then i try to install the stock dj05 rom/system, file DJ05_stock.zip through CWM it says it works and all is good. But i then try to boot and it makes it to the samsung logo and then just keeps resting itself
THen i jsut reset everything back to stock using the odin recovery files and im back to square one as i bought the phone.
Yes i am rooted that works everytime without a hitch. so what am i donig wroung
Im a little confused.
you say that ODIN works one time then does not work? You should only have to flash clockwork once.
It sounds like you are having a kernel problem. I am no dev but your description of the logo sounds a lot like what happened when I installed a voodoo kernel over a non voodoo ROM. I also do not see you mention the install of a kernel of any kind, you might search and see if there is a specific kernel needed for your rom. Much like the Super Clean roms have their own kernels that they work with.
Hopefully that can get you squared away in the right direction!

[Q] Need help getting a custom ROM, cant get passed E3 to use clockwork

Hi, Ok, so I am new at this and I have a samsung galaxy vibrant on tmobile...i got it and it was running eclair 2.1, I figured out how to root it and then upgraded to froyo 2.2. Now I am wanting to get either Bionix ROM or Nero V3. I have followed all the steps, got rommanager, did the flash clockworkmod recovery, dowloaded the zip file and put it in the root of my sd, but when i go to reboot, it wont run as clockwork, no matter how many times i try!
I read that it is because 2.2 has recovery e3 and i need e2...so it says t download a kernal that contains clockwork recovery but the problem is i cannot find one. I can find stuff all day long about the galaxy I9000 but nothing on the vibrant!
I have Odin and was wondering can I flash the rom straight to the phone?
My model number is SGH-T959, Kernel is 2.6.32.9, and build is FROYO.UVKB5.
Please help me, I really have no clue what I am doing, I just want my phone to run fast, get a nice looking theme for it, and not have to worry about it messing up and from what i have read the only way to that is to get a custom ROM and the only way to get themes is thru a custom ROM....
So if anyone can tell me how to go about getting my phone to recover using clockwork and any links i need to download the stuff I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!!!
Just bricked my phone i think!!!
Ok so i just followed all of the directions on this sight on how to do it, i backed up my apps with titanium then put my phone in download mode with odin and tried to flash the kernal for my phone to upgrade it and on odin it just said on the screen part, modem, it was green and nothing else happened so i unplugged it because it wouldnt reboot even after waiting a while (10min) and then the screen just showed a broken link between phone and comp and wouldnt change, so i looked at how to restore it with odin and did that and now it will go to the download screen again but nothing else! PLEASE HELP!!!!
follow this guide it will solve all your problems press the thanks button

upgrade from 2.2.1 to 2.3 but things turned ugly (Updated)

hi guys
I recently bought a 2nd hand Vibrant for a really good price.
As far as i see the Vibrant is already rooted with 2.2.1 Lidroid, and CWM installed.
The battery usage is amazing with this rom, but I still fancy to install some custom GB roms.
I have some questions:
1. I would like to check if I am already on GB bootloader, please guide me to check?
2. If I am not on GB bootloader, I know I must first install it.
I wonder if Vibrant has some stock GB firmwares like captivate does? The stock camera is a must for my case ><
Am i correct if I follow this method from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1156832
3.Or actually I can simply flash any custom GB roms directly from where I am (Lidorid 2)
THX
Okay you know if you're not gb bootloaders when you turn on ur phone there's weird rainbow lines
If not then you are
And if you are then yea you can flash any rom
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Let me confirm if you suggesting me to flash the GB roms?
If there's rainbows > froyo bootloader
if nothing > GB bootloader
So can i say actually Gb roms doesnt really need GB bootloader
as long as I am fine with the rainbows?
THX

I've run CM7, and CM9 (ICS) on Froyo boot loaders. For me it just makes the kernel screen flash and show again, then goes on to ROM booting. I'm running a Froyo boot loader right now.
Is lidroid a t959 rom or a t959v?
You need to have a t959 to be in the vibrant 3g section, otherwise you'll probably want the galaxy s 4g section.
Sent from my Sensation using Tapatalk 2
there is a Lidroid version for T959 - I have a Odin flash with it. I use it instead of JFD.
Want to know if you have the GB boot loaders? Easy -
Hold the Volume up button and the power button at the same time. If it goes to download mode....you got the GB bootloaders.
T959 Vibrant does not have Samsung 2.3 support. Samsung forgot about us after Froyo. There Froyo OTA upgrade bricked so many phones that they wont chance it again.
For 2.3 Gingerbread you will have to download a I9000 port found in our Development section. That said the ICS packages are very nice for Vibs too.
need help guys
A few hours ago, I was at work and bored.
I started to flash some GB roms without coming back to check this post.
The rom i used was phiremod-fusion-2.1.1.
As usual I nandroid my lidroid before doing anything.
Then I 3 wipes and flash the phiremod rom.
first time the flash was really quick and also rebooted itself.
But only this time I realise I have a newer CWM 5.xx version instead of my 2.xx version (Lidroid)
Ok, i wasn't panic, because i read some where before. It's prefectly fine for a cm7 if the first time it bootloop.
Then I pull battery, and boot into recovery again, to flash the 2nd time.
this time BAAM, prefect. I found myself with a 2.3.x cm7 mod rom.
but as soon as I found the camera apk is actually the MIUI one. I decided to nandroid back to Lidorid.
things turns ugly at this point, when i back to CWM i restored.
But only found some errors CWM said , but I remember CWM did say something like erasing boot.img before restoring.
After the resotre failed, I accidentally reboot my phone.
And now my vibrant only stuck at the typical black boot screen "Vibrant in the middle with samsung at the bottom.
I tried to boot back to recovery, but no luck.
right now I am telling myself i probably need to restore to stock.
Can my fellow xda members guide me the proper way to
1. boot CWM
2. download mode
Given the fact that I am not too sure about which bootloader I am on.
THX people!!
Yup, you'll need to go back to stock. There are plenty of write-ups on how to do it.
Also, NEVER restore a 2.2 backup after you install 2.3 or higher. The file systems and partitions are different. Odin back to stock, install lidroid again, and then try to restore your backup.

Get into download mode by while it's off, holding VOL-UP + Vol-DOWN and plugging in USB.
y vibrant revived!!
Thx everyone
After this, I am thinking to ask my colleagueto make one JIG for me.
I'd like to confirm it's same as SGS, i.e. 3 X 10kohm in series
