Ok, a bit akward. I think i bricked my folio 100. I was working on upgrading to honycomb, i did some things wrong i think. Problem is now when i boot the screen stays black and only the power led goes on. Any idea where i shuld search to try and get it back to live?
if you can boot into fastboot you might be able to save your devise by pushing the revovery and rom to ur devise
I cant get into fastboot, i dont even get the toshiba logo.

Did you try to connect to fastboot? Maybe your screen is broken (or if you are lucky the screen connector is loose). Does it vibrate when you turn it on?
It is very improbable to brick this device by flashing something. At least I never heard of it. Only thing known to me to fully brick your folio is by pressing 4x Power and volume down on boot (don't try that...).
When i press the power button it does nothing, only the power led on the right turns green (white when on AC ).
Also, when i connect it to usb and do a fastboot devices i get no respons. Realy think i did something wrong and bricked it :S

did u try removing the battery?.. or maybe the reset pinhole at the back?.. who knows it might work..
I brick my Folio too, and now it don't have logo when power on.
I tried to get battery off and press the reset on the back, and nothing happened.
How to rescue a fully brick folio?

apologize for interfering & oftop, but certainly cant keep silence - "impossible to brick" - same i was told abt my dell streak device, but here I'm with bricked device on hands, where only ORT-JTAG can help :-(
it was bricked when PC hanged during rom flashing....so I guess every chance is possible :-(
Shidima_101 can you describe in detail before/during brick ?
Well, I'm not really sure what i did. And i think that is the problem. I was installing a new rom, and left it unattended. When I came back, something was wrong and I started messing with some options. Witch turned out to be wrong i guess
Tho I'm a little further now. When I connect the tablet I my pc recognizes its there a device, but I'm not sure I can get it working again. Tomorrow I have some time to look at it more.
Sader0 can you give me some info on ORT-JTAG? Do you know if its possible to do this on the Folio100 ? I don't mind opening up the tablet to get it back in to working order.
I'm in the same situation.
After the update to the last version, my folio apparently boot but the screen is blank. The backlight is on but nothing appears on the screen.
I'm able to go in Fastboot or in recovery mode, but formatting cache. system and reflashing different roms do not solve the issue
What I should do ?
SOLVED !

bricked
I ****ed up? 4x power button, Ar there solutions?

Ok, I have a small update. After trying a lot of different stuff, and nothing working, I decided to bring my tablet back to the store. First I tried to get them to switch my device for a new one, but that was a no go. So the device was returned to Toshiba for a check up and fix.
I was a little afraid that they would find out that i rooted and bricked my device, but today I got a letter telling me I can come pick it up and it was fixed free of charge
So tomorrow I'm going back to pick up my tablet

so I was using odin to revert back to stock and repartition, dont ask why i had the back case off but i did, the battery fell out off the contacts and the stupid thing was stuck in download mode and would not do anything when i reloaded odin or replugged usb... i now get a screen showing a phone --- ! ---- computer image.... im pretty sure thats a true brick but if anyone has any ideas, ive tried everything to get into download mode again but to no avail... when i plug the phone in the usb it automatically boots to this image.
is it a true brick or is there anything i can do... i have sam drivers installed and adb... i know im dumb and my phone is probably bricked.... if i can im going to try to take it to tmobile tomorrow.... anyone have any ideas to fix this or is it a true brick like im thinking? or anything I can say to tmobile other than "I dont know what happened" ???
guess i learned that no matter how many times you flash stupid mistakes can still be made
edit: i no longer get the battery charge screen at all by the way... it just boots up to that no matter what i try.
Try plugging it into the computer. Hold down all the buttons, volume up and down and power button. Let go of the power button as soon as it turns on, but continue to hold the volume buttons. That should do it.
If your phone powers on regardless of what it shows its salvageable, if your able to do anything whatsoever with the phone than its salvageable. I did however true brick mine. It messed up in the middle of odin and after that the phone did nothing, no boot at all, no power, nothing. Power button did nothing, it was 100% bricked.
Well I must have tried 100 times last night and 20 more this morning but it finally glitched into download mode!! Woot

Its a soft brick. There is only one way to hard brick vibrant as of now (well with software).
I believe it was to flash JP2 and some version of Froyo that was floating around and then reflash to stock. Just memory though details could be off.
Hi all,
i just bricked my Archos 101 G8. I've selected "erase SD Card" in Gingerbread/Bull, after 36h of the circle of death, a turned it off, and that's it. If i plug it in, the green LED lights up, i can force-turnoff (10second powerbutton), but notting else. It's not visible in any way on USB (from an ubuntu-kernel-log).
Is there any chance to unbrick the sucker, or is it time to introduce my G8 to my G17 (later the one from Glock )...?
Greetings...

Thanks for your answer. No, it won't even turn the screen backlight on, beside the powerled the sucker is dead :crying:
Hi,
Are you sure that your a101 is charged ? I've bricked my a43 five times yesterday. Last time, the tablet was ''empty''. Even the LED was "bricked" ^^. The solution was to connect the tablet to an USB/AC charger. After ten minutes, the LED was blinking, and 30 min later, i could access to recovery menu to re-install UrukDroid by flashing the installation kernel...
Try this method

Yeah, pretty sure, at least it was on the charger for a week, and it even was on the charger when i bricked it... I'm pretty sure i killed the flash by formating the SD Card, no idea why (i'm a newbie here, i'm not allowed to tell the Bull-Guys there might be a problem with the /dev/ thats formated when selecting Format SD Card inside Android Bull ... Well i guess i have to break out the torx and see if there's a JTAG in there...
And now, are you able to enter in the boot menu by pressing a volume key while you're power on it ? (On all first ARCHOS screen)
It's the only solution to repair it.
If you can't, i don't know other solutions

No, as i said, it won't even turn on after pressing the powerbutton, the green LED is the only thing that happens. No Display, no backlight, no nottin' .
Well, thank you very much anyway, i wasn't expecting that it can be fixed; i just wanted to be sure there's no USB-Flasher like there's for the newer Series or some supersecret UpUpDownLeftLeftReboot-Cheat code ...
I can't find my torx set at the moment, if i manage to revive the sucker somehow i'll report back, not much to loose at this point, jtag away

Hey XDA,
tried to flash the 17.1.1.A.0.402 FTF on my unlocked SGP511 Z2 tablet and something must've gone terribly wrong. Flashing seemed successful, but it won't switch on anymore, I can't enter Fastboot mode, I can't enter Flashmode and the recharge LED isn't on anymore when I connect it to the charger.
This is the first time something like that happened to me, I had several Nexus devices (and two G1s) before, flashed custom ROMs countless times, but I never managed to get one of them into a state of complete unresponsiveness.
Is there any way to unbrick my tablet?
EDIT: just to clear that up, holding Volume up and power doesn't do anything, so does holding Volume down while connecting it to the PC.
Almost Same problem with me..
Cant get in to the OS no more after installing CWM

I've had a similar issues with bad flashes before.
Is it possible you flashed an LTE fw to a wifi only tablet?
I got round it by setting flashtool to be waiting for the device in flashmode (with the picture saying hold the back button and plug in) and then with the tablet repeatedly pressing the power and volume up, waiting for the reboot and quickly plugging in with the volume down until the device was recognised.
It appeared to me to be a timing issue ie. catching the plug before the OS started loading but after the device had started the reset mode.
I know you said the power + vol up doesn't respond for you, this may be due to the battery draining so much that it simply cannot power up anymore. I would suggest plugging it into the wall (not a usb port of a PC) for a few hours first (even if the LED doesn't light up it doesn't hurt to try to trickle some power in and eliminate that from the possible causes).
Basically, keep trying flashtool and trying to reflash your ftf. It might help to redownload it too or double check the md5.
Also, I haven't tried it, but I read somewhere that the red switch under the SIM/SD flap is a hard reset button that does the same as the power + vol up.

Thanks a ton for the help, I definitely flashed the correct FTF, that was actually my second flash and it worked with the same files half an hour before. I also tried all combinations of Flashtool in flashmode, power/volume/power off button/USB cable I could think of repeatedly already, to non-avail.
I'm currently settling with the fact that I somehow managed to hard-brick my tablet and that I have to face the cost to send it in to Sony for repairs.
Most probably you didn't hard brick your tablet.
That is very difficult and unlikely.
Most probably you just didn't do the steps for reanimating the device right.
Hard reset (Vol Up + Power). Then, while holding Vol Down, plug in the USB cable which is connected to your PC. (Do you have the drivers for the tablet installed on the PC?) This should make the LED go blue. (=Flashmode.) Then you can flash a FTF (take the right one for your model!) with Flashtool (not the Sony one, but the xda one with the same name).

Thanks a lot for your help, but unfortunately the tablet doesn't react to anything anymore. Before e.g. the LED lit up when the tablet was charging, that doesn't happen anymore. Hard Reset usually made the tablet vibrate, doesn't happen anymore, either. Same for Fastboot mode. Flashmode doesn't do anything to the LED and FlashTool doesn't recognize it anymore, too, when I boot it with Vol down pressed. I've done all that countless times over the past week and nothing works. I know that manufacturers make it pretty hard for their devices to hard-brick, but this time I'm completely at a loss, there's nothing I've not tried so far.

After you feel you bicked it, was the device still vibrting when hard resetting? If it was and now ot isn't then you've probably just deadened the battery by asking. Iitt to repeatedly reboot.
Try leavingg. Itt plugged in to a wall forr a few hours and every oncee in a while try the hard reset again to see if it starts to respond.

Unfortunately I have tried that already, too. It doesn't seem to charge anymore (LED doesn't go on), no matter how long it's connected to the charger. I also tried charging it with a couple different chargers besides the original one already, that's also not the issue. It was completely unresponsive as soon as the FTF flash was finished.
Unless there's an "undocumented" alternative flash mode (JTAG pins? NAND chips exposed somewhere on the board? But how would you open the tablet, anyways?) there's nothing I can do. I've sent an Email to Sony mobile support already, I hope they'll answer with an andress where I can send it to, soon.
I yesterday overcame an issue where I couldn't enter flashmode by using PC Companion and using the repair software feature, but PC Companion needs to recognise your device first so I guess it is out of the question. Nonetheless, I think anything is worth a try.

No dice, unfortunately. :/
To add insult to injury Sony Mobile refuses to repair my device, at least the hotline guy told me so - even though I explicitly told him I'm willing to pay for it, since there's no warranty due to the unlocked bootloader. Anyone has any experience with that or knows whom to mail in such a case?

You could try and PM some of the respected devs around here for advice on last resort recovery from bricking. DoomLoRD and maybe Jerpelea (aka FXP who now works for Sony) come to mind.

After reading over your posts, I think that was a good choice to sell on ebay. However, Patience in keeping it on a charger for many many days (i put an hp touchpad 3g with the same issue on for a week before it finally gave response) could have fixed it... A tablet with no response like yours usually will still get a trickle charge over time and in turn revokes a response. Hard bricking a tablet is always misconstrued when in reality it was a soft brick, even in your case.
Anyways good luck with the new one!
The same thing just happened to me last night. It's pretty ridiculous how it happened to. I originally got the tablet a few months ago and rooted it with CWM via Doomlords method. Was working fine for a while. No issues, not using it for anything in particular but regular media. I do believe I restarted the device a few times before this as well. So I was maybe going to start getting more into modding especially since CM11 finally has builds for the Z2. I powered the tablet down, tried to go into CWM recovery (just to make sure it was still there) by pressing volume and power buttons, the thing then just vibrated and flashed a couple different LED colors before dying. That was it, the thing was utterly dead. I've tried all kinds of combinations of the buttons, going into fastboot with a USB connected to the same PC I used to flash/recover it before, charged it for well over 8 hours. Nothing....
I'm a bit of a fighter though. I specifically remember a friends xperia z (phone) dying and showing no life and then just reviving with no noted fix. I'm going to try the constant charge method for a while. I'll likely update with any luck.
Edit: No progress, I called Sony and just played a little dumb. Will be sending it to them soon. I think I may have an actual hardware problem. This happened without any recent flashing/major changes and I can't even get any kind of signs of life in recovery.
Hello guys, same problem here.
Flashed my tablet with a .402 ftf file everything went well. I played with the tablet for 4 hours. After that I tried to flash it again, the flash was successful, I booted at least three times on the tablet. Then it just went off and now I have nothing. No LED when pluging to a wall, it's no recognized by my computer.
I was thinking about dismanteling it, unplug the battery and try to boot it on again. Has anyone tried to do this before?
Also if you have any clue to dismantle feel free to give it to me.
I'll keep you in touch

Sounds a bit like my symptoms. I also flashed a .402, first flash worked and booted perfectly fine, till I decided to flash it again, then everything went off and the whole unit was dead. Problem is, I don't remember flash tool displaying an error, but I also didn't look for one, that's why the only explanation I have is a faulty USB cable. Maybe it's a faulty image? Do you remember where you downloaded that .402 image?

Yes, I downloaded it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2765250
I'm 100% sure that the flash worked the first time with this image. I haven't modified the ftf file and when I tried to flash it again as I said it went off but not instantly. I was also working on the kernel when it crashed but I don't think I bricked it because it should do something: boot loop or at least the led turning red when plug-in it to a charger.
I bricked tablets before and I know the symptoms, but just having a dead device like this is totally new. And really anoying...
Sony just told me to return it to them.

I have my share of bootloops and find this thread quite useful. If your problem is that your device won´t charge, have you try to charge it with dock?
I have the latter...it wont boot at all and no 'bump' or anything like that. it doesn't do what you're saying it should be doing to recover. I will try the red button but so far nothing seems to help. thanks for the advice I was going to send it to sony but sounds like ill void my warranty. just to be clear when i push the power the things that it usually does don't happen. no haptic feedback, no 'bump', no nothing when you push the button. Its on charger so the issue isn't battery. it just doesn't charge AFAIK. or can tell. Well, off to the red button and see how that works. All I have yet to try i believe as i cant use the other tools till it turns on at least.

I had this the other day, flashed the wrong thing, spent hours looking over the net, no haptic feedback, no light when connected to the charger, no fastboot, it seemed dead in every sense of the word, requested an RMA from amazon, I had til the 12 Nov to return it, since I was going to Italy for for 12 days I thought I would take with me, if I couldn't sort it I would return it as defective, night before I was due to leave, tried the power button and it jumped to life, as if nothing had happened, flashed the correct image and here I am in Italy writing this on my Z2 tablet, not sure if it helped but I had mine connected to the power 85% of the time I thought it was dead

The onlynresson the RMA worked was the unit not responding otherwise my warranty was void. Turned into a positive as they replaced the unit. I left it charging for a week with no change. Good for you though.

Ok, I did something stupid and I'm just going to throw it out there. I wasn't able to root my phone through the normal method, but I was able to get it to work with kingroot. From there, I used the installer to install the Z3dualRecovery and everything was working fine. Both recoveries were working, phone booted up so I went looking for ROMs.
This is where I screwed up.I tried flashing a regular Z3 rom and now nothing boots.
When I hold Volume up and press the power button it vibrates once after a few seconds and then nothing happens.
When I hold volume down and power, it vibrates once after 2 seconds. After that it will vibrate twice every 10 seconds or so.
Holding the volume up and plugging in my USB WILL boot into fastboot.
Holding volume down and plugging in my USB will make it vibrate once, the LED flashes green, and then red. And it keeps doing that over and over.
I've tried pressing the white button next to the SIM tray and it does nothing, no matter how long I hold it.
So is there any hope here? I doubt I can do anything since the bootloader is locked, and I can't use the flashtool to flash the stock FTF since it won't boot into flashmode. I'm going to try the rubberband trick by plugging it in and leaving the volume down held down while it tries to boot and flash the FTF. If anyone knows another option I'd appreciate it before I accept I bricked the thing.

I tried to tell people no roms unless it's for the z3v specifically. your phone is done to my knowledge because verizon locked us out on Sony pc companion and I could never get flashtool to work with fastboot. If you are still with verizon call them tell them your screen quit working and there no water damage and you haven't dropped it.. I'm assuming your screen is black. they will send you a new one under the Sony warranty and you don't have to have insurance on the phone and don't flash z3 stuff or ask first. BTW you might want to go to a verizon store and play dumb and then have them call tech support from there if your phones in good shape you will have a new one in less then 48hours.

The screen does not turn on at all, you are correct. I dont think they would do anything though, since I didn't get it directly from Verizon, or would they? I tried talking to online tech support and they basically said "hold down the white button next to the SIM tray, oh that didn't work? can't do anything else" so I think I'm SOL here.

I would contact verizon if they are your provider. did you buy this phone new or second hand..then contact Sony our phones aren't really water proof so they are taking phones in when the screen stops working...does your led still work
Go online and add total mobile protection to your line right now its $11... Then tomorrow take that bad boy into your local verizon store and tell them that you were taking a software update and your phone rebooted and never came back on. I've been where u are it ain't a pretty situation but if you press and hold power volume up and volume down all at the same time you should still be able to boot into the stock recovery as long as you can get there they can't prove an ota didn't brick you and they'll send you a nice refurb.

he is way past being able to get to system recovery he flashed a z3 rom his screen doesn't even work..I would assume he can't turn the phone off either if it's not dead already.

Nah I've been there with that blinking red and green led light then straight to fastboot. I dont mean TWRP recovery...He's still got his stock recovery partition flashing a Z3 rom wouldn't flash his recovery.img... He should still be able to boot to the SONY screen and the factory reset screen options on the stock recovery... That and fastboot are the only things he can get into I'm betting anyway lol. It's a real ****ty, scary situation to be in.
You can always turn your phone off try it press and hold all your buttons till your phone shuts off. Keep holding them. You'll see the recovery screen im talking about... It has a power off option
Phone is kill, no screen at all and no possibility of recovery. I've tried all button combos, and durations without success. I'm just gonna request a thread close here, pay the stupid tax and learn from it.
