You can't rename the the apps, but you can rename the shortcuts
But thats only possible with other launchers (f.e. Adw Launcher Ex)

[Q] Mirror shortcut disappeared

Last night I went to use the mirror app and noticed it wasn't in the app drawer. I looked through my files using root explorer and couldn't find any mention of mirror. I thought my son may have inadvertently deleted it so I looked through Titanium Backup and couldn't find it there either. However, if I use search, the app shows up in the list. I can click on it and it works just fine but this is the only way to access it. Any one know how I can get the shortcut back in the app drawer? This is the only program that is missing.
Bump
Can someone at least point me in the direction to look? I have root explorer and looked in some folders, but don't know if there's a folder that contains the programs of the app drawer or if the drawer just contains shortcuts to the apps.

Every application .apk file contains an AndroidManifest.xml file in the root of the .apk file. Inside the AndroidManifest.xml file it provides directions for the package manager/launcher on whether or not to load the application into the Launcher 'draw/tray' and which icon to use.
The android package manager constantly monitors /data/app (3rd party apps) and /system/apps (stock and system apps) directories and picks up any added/removed .apk files. It will either add their icon to the launcher draw/tray or remove from the launcher draw/tray.
If you're having issues with the application not appearing in the Launcher draw/tray, I'd double check the application's respective .apk file is located in either /data/app or /system/app.
Hope that helps!
Thanks. Didn't find the apk in those folders or anyplace else. Guess I'm going to have to use rootexplorer and go through each folder 1 by 1.

Thanks for posting this. I tried to flash it via TWRP2 Recovery, but it didn't fix it. It's still hidden, only visiting when Google Searching for it, just like it was before. Is there something I'm missing or an alternative way to install it? Thanks.

[Q] Shortcut to SD card folders

Is there a way that I can create a shortcut to a specific folder on my SD card?
Using ADW Launcher
Long press home screen>shortcuts>Astro File Manager>select desired folder.
Honestly i cant help using the stock launcher, I haven't used it in a long time.
if you use file manager HD you can create shortcuts on the menu bar on the left of the UI.

[Q] Renaming Application Labels

I have x10 mini running MiniCM7 2.1.8 with latest nAa kernel. i would like to rename few application labels displayed in ADW App Drawer. How can i rename a label? If any one could guide me on this it would be really helpful.
Million Thanks!!!
Muthu
There is no easy way to rename the labels of your apps.
The displayed names are written inside the .apk file of the app, so you would have to modify that using an apk manager of some sorts, and you will most likely need root access.
Or you could search for a drawer app that lets you display different labels.

[Q] help to remove default Gallery

well i know this can be see as a duplicate post , but believe i search and read many Thread and search around google and no success or real useful tutorial find for this
i want to remove default gallery from my phones ( Huawei G600 & Sony V ) and replace it with Quickpic
both is rooted .
i use a Root file manager and Go to system/app and delete gallery2.apk ( Huawei G600) or semcAlbum.apk in sony V
now i copy Quickpic.apk to the system/app
and copy libqpicjni144.so to system/lib
after i restart the phone , when i enter some app like whatsup or viber and what to add a image the default gallery load again !! seems it`s still somewhere and only removed from app list in menu
so whats the problem ??
how can i edit Default app for opening image and video in android ?
selecting Quickpic as default on app asking or using titanium backup to freeze the gallery will not help for prevent run gallery in some app and make .thumbdata3 file
*******************************************************************************************************************
why i need to remove default gallery :
after i test and remove .thumbdata3 ( with huge size and make my phone memory full ) for a few times , i see when i enter the gallery again this file re created with the same size and never can get ride of it
even i try to create a file with the same name and replace it with read-only permission but after the day I see another ..thumbdata3 created with some difference in numbers
so i really need to remove default gallery and more important of that make Quickpic the default gallery for all third party apps like camera, whatsup, line , ...
