[Q] Slow to wake up to end call - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone have an idea how to get the GS2 to wake up (switch the screen on) a bit quicker when wanting to hang up?
It still take ages (latest f/w), and I find the call is already terminated by the time the screen wakes to allow me to press the red button.
It's great that this thing takes 1080p videos, has a wonderful screen etc etc, but it's a phone ffs.

I am having this issue as well and would like to know any suggestions to fix the issue.

Hi you can choose either of the following options;
Turn off Proximity sensor
Settings > Call > Turn off Proximity sensor
Configure Power button to end call
Settings > Call > Call answering/ending > The power key ends calls
I am using Power button to end call.. It helps to end call just by pressing power button instead of waiting for the screen to wake up..
Hope it helps...

Ah, nice one. Should have found that really, shouldn't I.
Thanks for that - will use the power button thing.

Same problem here. using Power button to end call works fine .

Problem is, I hung up on my mum last night trying to wake the phone.

Waking up screen disconnects current call

Hello,
I am trying to find a solution for my mom's Droid Eris.
I have a Hero (a cousin of the Droid Eris) and I can wake my screen with the Menu button. However, that does not work on her Droid Eris. The only button that will wake the screen once it goes to sleep is the "End call" button.
Of course, if she is on a call, this hangs up on the person. Is there anyway around this?
Is it rooted? If it's stock, the proximity sensor should sense motion and wake up. Also, volume button should work too.

Try the send button instead. Works for me.

It's rooted.
The send button doesn't work to wake the screen. But, I found playing with it that holding volume up or down and pushing send will wake the screen.

Once you root you can throw "the freaking manual" out the window.

[Q] Need to disable "Mute, On hold & Speaker" button during a call

PLEASE HELP!
I always have a problem with my phone X10i when i make some calls.
The problem is I pressed mute, speaker, END or on hold button (some of them) by accident (Pressed by my ear).
I checked my phone sensor already and it works fine. May be it happened from the way I held my phone.
But I just want to know how to get a rid of all those buttons from the screen during a call.
Is there anyway I can use some apps to hide all these buttons?
I believe that phone screen is built in the Rom. Thats probably modifying the Roms phone screen. You could probably do it if u know how to modify roms. I dont. I just mod phones with new firmware from xda.

Use to happen to me frequently,I enabled the proximity sensor and use left hand mode now. That solved it for me
U can use shakeawake tool. It works pretty fine. It has a cheek guard feature which detects when your face is touching the screen

will try that with the left hand mode, sounds promising ^^
i hate it, one cannot have a call for more than 5minutes without pressing sthg. -.-
and most annoying my ear LOVES the End button ^^

Same here. I do put the calls on hold very often. :-(
I do this on my G2X all the time. My proximity sensor seems to be working properly. I just went to Settings > Call settings > Always Use Proximity and checked it. Apparently orientation always trumps proximity so we will see if this fixes my issue.
Problem SOlved
ON my HTC One I downloaded Call Screen Lock and I have enabled long press to unlock feature, I also enabled HTC One feature Power button ends call,
I often wonder how is HTC surviving without a law suit from someone with a ear damage. I had soo many times speaker suddenly shouting in my ear. Almost did hit the phone with anger onto the wall.
is there any app that disable the Mute hardkey shortcut (vol up + power) on Android? I accidentally hit it all the time when using volume buttons eg. screenshot

[Q] Phone vibrates during calls - why and how to stop it?

Hi,
as the title already says, my phone vibrates during calls. It happens about 1 time per minute (but doesnt seem to be a minute counter!) and i've got no Idea, why this keeps happening!
Do you have the same effect (vibrating) as i do?
What is this "feature" about?
How can i stop it from happening?
Thank you,
Linkin
till now I found three vibration settings used for different apps / situations etc, for example message notification vibration, soft key feedback etc-
To turn off Notification vibrate: Messaging > Menu key > Settings > Untick Notification vibration
To turn off Ringtone vibrate: Settings > Sound > Vibrate > Never
To turn off the vibrating when tapping the screen: Settings > Sound > Untick Haptic Feedback
Thanks.
I found these three settings too but none of them explains why it vibrates during calls... Only explanations I could think of is that I touch the screen by mistake...
Does anyone have similar behavior of his phone and can contribute to this?

if the proximity sensor working the screen should turn off when your face is near, therefore no accident touching the screen. could it be the other buttons being touched by accident? the volume buttons, camera, home, back, and menu buttons...
Its definitely not the camera or volume button but I kepp it under surveillance... Maybe i'm touching the back or menu key by accident...
Thanks for the answers!

Bzzz
hehe I've tried something a little more funky: I had a call a few days ago, and the vibrator started buzzing as soon as i drew the phone close to my face and the closer the harder it buzzed
I had to hold the phone at 2-4 centimeters to be able to hear what was being said over the vibrator
It haven't happened again, but then I've also "repaired" the phone with SEUS to see if that helped with receiving calls in the first place(screen didn't respond on several calls).
I have had this happen a few times too, no idea what it is though?! lol
It keeps happening sometimes, but not as much as before... I guess it was related to touching the softkeys!
I changed haptic feedback to off and it doesnt viabrate at all now
Sent from my SK17i using XDA App
Mhm but this indicates touching the Display and NOT thouching the soft keys, right?

Haptic feedback includes the capacitive buttons.

Screen unresponsive during calls

Often when I'm on a call and the screen turns off and I try to wake the screen up with the power or home key to hang up the phone is unresponsive. I sometimes have to pull the battery to get it to come back on. Most of the time once the person I am talking hangs up the screens wakes up.
I've tried to set it so the screen stays on during calls but that doesn't work. The screen still shuts off.
I've had this problem with 3 different roms.
I've tried every setting available and still have problems.
Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks in advance.

It's supposed to happen. You press power again to wake the phone up to show the display

I hit the power button and it still doesnt come on.
Not sure this is the problem, but if you go to "Settings > My device > Call > Turn off screen during calls" you could try UN-checking the box so that the screen stays on during a call (although your face might bump into the screen and push buttons at times). If that works in terms of being able to see everything and get back to your home screen after a call, something else is going on (maybe another app doing something it shouldn't be).

For those just got the Z2, remember to turn off the tap to wake

If you turn it on, during call, if proximity sensor pick up and Off the screen, at this moment, if you tap the screen, the call will drop.
Anyone, good in using Tasker app can help to offer a solution?

I've never had this problem. Maybe you need to modify how you hold the device during a call?
I do have a problem with pocket accessing sometimes, where the screen will turn on and skip my music tracks, pause and rewind hahah.
...and your device will explode..
Nonsense...
I'm using Z2 from May and this is the first time I even heard something like this..

I can confirm this, i had to disable tap-to-wake to ensure i dont end calls. It seems like a typpical case of YMMV though. I know for a fact that it caused my cheek to end calls.

It will only drop the call if you checked the "Power button end calls" setting in Accessibility.
Double tapping on the screen while is off acts like pressing the power button.
I had my brainstorm session because of that Sony bug
Hi Vangogu, you are right, thanks, now I can use the tap to wake function.
But I still think it is a software bug. Sony should prevent the power button off during call and with proximity sensor activated.
