Galaxy S II UK based US Android market? Audio issue? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, my question is I bought a Galaxy S II from the UK, and i noticed on some apps i am getting the UK version. I also noticed some apps (iheartradio) are not found when searching on my phone but show up when searching from a buddy atrix. The amazon cloud player, seems to download a UK version, that doesnt allow connectivity to the cloud, only local music playback. Does this have to do with the IMIE, and can i change, it or can I tell my phone to look at the US android market, instead of the UK one?
Also, I am coming from an iphone, and when playing music, it gets quite loud, so loud that, I cant even turn it all the way up without blowing my ear drums. On the I9100 i can turn the volume up all the way, and its no where near loud enough. Is there anyway to hack it to make this louder, and or make the speaker phone or ear pieces louder?
Outside of those 2 issues, I think the phone is awesome. No issues yet. Only my second day of ownership though

bump.
also whats the deal with a lot of the videogames not running on the galaxy S II?

[Q] Speaker Ring Tone Quality

Has anyone heard reports or actually heard the sound quality of the ring tone speaker??
Am currently using the Xperia X10 where the speaker quality for watching any movies or Youtube is terrible, very tinny and not that loud, making it very difficult to enjoy a multimedia experience other than by using headphones.
Fingers crossed the SGS 2 has a good speaker
I hope aswell that the music player itself - using good "in-ear"-earphones of course - is good. I don't know the SGS one but my OHD had a great music player, I heard one of the best ones available and the sound was blasting, and still good without earphones.
Can someone tell me something about the SGS music player output quality? Was it good compared to other phones?
The SGS2 player is said to be the same as the SGS one afaik.
While watching a few demos the sound seemed to be quite loud and crisp while demoing video quality.

According to GSM Arena's previous review of the SGS, it's music player sound quality is one of the best available along with the X10, so I would think that SGS II will also be top notch, lets hope the speaker is worthy too
I remeber that I read e review, I think from a russian site, were the author complained about the low volume of the headphone. But this was one of hte first pre-production devices. Sorry for not posting the source link, I cant remember the website's name.
Well I hope it includes good earphones, as I listen to music most times with earphones

The sgs has decent sound quality stock. With voodoo soundfix, which makes use of the powerful audio hardware, it sounds AMAZING. Blows any ipod or other device straight out of the water. I have yet to hear anything better.
If the sgs ii is using the same chip, I would expect the same outstanding audio quality.

@Slimjimwoods2 Plus it's *possible* (personal speculation) Exonys and Tegra2 might have a different audio hardware. Like I9000 and I9003?

[Q] Is the Headset Volume Loud Enough for You?

Hi everyone,
After flashing from the latest firmware available for Russia to the stock KH1 for Western Europe, I'm having a feeling the max headset volume was decreased. It is no longer enough for me when I listen to music in the subway (I mean, it is pretty loud but the Moscow metro is the noisiest one in the world too).
Can anyone confirm/deny that ROMs for the European Union have volume limitations? If they do, is there an efficient way of breaking them?
P.S. I use PowerAmp with its equalizer, so preamp is lower than with the stock player.
Can't say about your ROM but on mine it is more than enough loud for music with stock player, but being said that the volume on a call through the headphones is horribly low, just terrible.
Sent from my GT-I9100
I absolutely agree with you on the volume call through headset. Its absolutely poor. Is there any app or workaround for this?
Music through stock headphones and stock music player is pleanty loud for me.
Yes thanks and multiple posts on how to improve under the search button if it was not .

Interesting!
...maybe we could compare several regions' ROMS and prove whether there is indeed a "software" limiter set in the European Roms rather than it being a "hardware" limitation ... i.e the amplifier itself.
Volume level 7 plenty loud enough on Custom Roms and various other Europe roms and some non Europe roms .

Thanks for the replies, guys. The impression I had was probably false.
Have a look at Volume +

I find the sound to be low even at 15 (maximum) on the video player (with or without the headset).

yes for video player also the volume is very low even at level 15 ....
What to do .??
Yet i find the sound to be high at 7.
Thoughts on sound .
One some phones have lower sound output from hardware .
Two some stock headphones are poor
Three some users have poorly encoded music.
Four some users just have crap music .
Five possible that some are looking for distorted bass sounds through a tiny speaker .

How to find if a phone has lower sound output from hardware .??
Sound output from hardware its same on all phones.
People have differing roms and even more importantly differing levels of hearing acuteness in their ears.
Let's keep to facts rather than have peoples guesses being treated as facts

Any real evidence or just a guess .

Same firmware different reports of sound levels most that initially complaint are coming from stock roms .

AS you say their is a difference in hearing also in music play and coding its mainly subjective not objective .
Testing is fairly simple using a high quality test sample rather than individual music .
That can be used to test headphones and also the sound improvement from the relevant fixes or apps .

Call quality/Bluetooth/headset/duplicate txt issues?

Hey guys, interested in buying a galaxy note and since it uses a lot of the same hardware as the skyrocket, I'm wondering if you guys are plagued with these issues too?
Call quality - finding myself having to readjust the phone so people can hear me clearer even in a empty room
Headset - background hiss even when not listening to music or on a call
Bluetooth - trouble connecting certain devices and staying connected
Duplicate/failed txt - self explainitory. Doesn't seem like its just me, but its definatly not everyobe .
Are you guys having any of these issues? It effects whether I buy this device or not

I also have a skyrocket and picked up the ATT GNote yesterday. I have had the duplicate and failed text on the skyrocket but assume that is LTE? The bluetooth issue is really a bummer on the skyrocket. It is worthless so you can be sure I have the GNote paired with my Jawbone BT and my car. Will report more after I have more experience.
If the BT on this model is not as good as the International Gnote, it is going back to ATT.

Sony Smart Watch

Not sure if this is correct forum but here it is, feel free to move it mods if not. Although its a Sony, I'm planning on using it with my Samsung S3 as its Android.
Has anyone got one? I've got one, which has arrived, but I don't get until my birthday soon.
So I've read reviews, it seems to have got better now with a few firmware updates - has it?
Is it just a gadget that you oooh and ahhh over, and then never use?
Any good apps/widgets for it?
Hows battery life in real use? How does your smartphone compare battery life wise, as will have to keep Bluetooth on all the time, I always switch mine off.
How is it on a non Sony smartphone, for music etc, thats what I think I'll mostly use it for, e.g. wired headphones on, phone in pocket, control from smart watch. Would this control Google Play Music app for streaming?
Anything I should do/get/add.
Any other tips from current users, or people who have used in past and maybe got rid of and why.
cheers

New Earphones, Best Music App?

Hey guys!
I've just invested in some decent Sennheiser earphones (never use stock ones!) and I'm now looking for a music app to match! I've found the stock music player lacks the dynamic range for the different types of music I listen to. My main genres are progressive rock, rock, techno/house and occasional classical. I've dabbled with the trial of Power Amp and was quite impressed, but wanted to know what other people have tried and gone with before I part with my meagre amount of money! Audiophiles, lend me your ears!!!
What are your recommendations/thoughts?
Cheers guys.
Probably already done it but don't forget to set up the adaptive sounds settings

I'm guessing this only works with the stock player, or is it part of the system output and would also work with third party apps?
Sent from the Edge.
On mine it's in settings, sounds and noticifications, sound quality and effects,
In here is adapt sound and other sound options they make my cheap blue tooth set sounds a little richer
And the adapt sound helps with my right ear hearing better than my left
imho poweramp is one of the best, has many frequency control, effects and a lot of theme like this:

adaptive sound is really bad..go with viper4Android this is the best and could be used with all players..BTW I'm still stick to my old in ear beats headphones ..they were included in the HTC sensation XL times..
I use Neutron and it is great.

Not looking to root I'm afraid. While I've rooted my last few devices, I use my GS6E for NFC payments and rooting would cause this to stop working. Also my 1 year old boy keeps me too busy these days!
I did have some UrBeats earphones with my One X a few years ago before I sold them, and after recent reports that they are nothing more than a brand name behind cheap Chinese made earphones, I'd rather steer clear of them. Quite happy with my Sennheisers!

yeah..from me it's the opposite..the Sennheisers we're not have a good sound..and no there are zero payment things.. I mean I can not see any store where I can pay with NFC in Germany....

I think that if it wasn't for the NFC payments and that I've only got the phone for another 11 months, I'd probably consider rooting. As for the headphones, perhaps you ended up with some fakes? Plenty of them out there which is a shame.

As for headphones and liking the sound or not, it depends on our music tastes and sound tastes greatly. Not all good headphones will be suitable for everyone.
I can recommend brainwavz and Soundmagic on my side. I have been using Brainwavz M3 with my S6 Edge and they sound great using Neutron. For desktop I have Soundpagic HP100 and they are great as well. Chinese, but if you read reviews on sites like Head-Fi.org, you will be surprised how good these are. I also have had Sennheiser MX980 for a few years and they sound nice.
The earphones I ended up getting are the Sennheiser CX 300-II. I know there are better ones out there for more money but considering I came from Logitech UE 200 they are a vast improvement, even on my laptop!
Just want to thank everyone for the replies. I'll probably end up going with Poweramp as I do like the features it offers and the different formats it plays. Quite a bit of my collection is in flac and although the stock player supports the format, the dynamic range of Poweramp is, imo greater.

Maven player? Jet audio? These 2 served me pretty good.
Viper audio if you're rooted. Not a player but a great way to control the sound
