There's been a lot in the press last few days about a security vulnerability in android.
This is fixed in 2.3.4 anyone know a, when we'll see this (I know its been in cm7 a while now) or b, if we can apply it manually? (And I suppose c, will it break root)
Cheers in advance. Sorry for starting a new topic not seen one of this yet.

Google is rolling out a server side patch.
So all versions of Android should be fine, when they are done.
Google have implemented a server side fix, so devices wont require an update.

They have already fixed mostly used services. I think the only major outstanding one is Picassaweb.
Ok all good then! Cheers guys. I don't use picasa so not worried on that one.

Hey, I recently had to have a factory reset done to my phone because it would only boot up to a black screen. Anyhow point being since t-mobile's bloatware is not removeable(unless taking methods of root and such) I'm stuck with an old version of the T-Mobile my account app that will constantly tell me to update it then bring me to the app in the market only to have the option of opening it instead of updating it. So could anyone please upload the latest apk of the app in to somewhere i could download it for me? Thank you.

Bump, anybody...please...
Why not just root? Based on your post date, the warranty is probably already expired, right?
Fresh from the market....
Thank you so very much.

OK I been trying to see if anyone in the US has been updated to ICS through OTA at all or even kids. I hope to hear from anyone who has and thanks in advance.

No. Search next time.
I did search and found nothing, I would have not posted it if I did find it. Plus I'm posting on the Q and A...

I got mine today via kies. Took about an hour. My one concern is this...I have no face unlock option available. Not that I use it as a security tool, just something to play around with. If anyone knows why face unlock is not available, please explain
I'm having problems with this too man.
Ok i got mines as well was just wondering i know many are having issues trying to download it so far everyone i spoke to has been able to update using kies

I installed a british ROM instead of waiting for OTA in US and rooted my GT-p7510. Now only hoping for a modded stable kernel for overclocking.
It's the one with the horizontal arrows, been there since I installed the stock jellybean Rom.

WiFi direct.
You can't turn it off in the latest leak.
Don't worry about it.

Ello,
That horizontal arrow you mentioned is called Wifi Direct
Due to the leaked jellybean some of the xda people have been complaining about the wifi direct issue as it appears while the wifi is switched on.
I have it too l, was worried I had downloaded a malicious app that was redirecting all my data to some rogue server
Good to see its nothing to worry about

You can install an AV app that has a firewall like avast. It should allow you to block anything and everything trying to get out.
It should also log and report any malicious programs. I use it and it is very good.

This quote is AWESOME!! :highfive:
Aside from this great quote, thanks for the WiFi Direct icon. It's been driving me nutz trying to find out how to dispose of it. Guess I'll have to just wait for the OTA version of JB which is supposed to be online any day now. Unfortunately given Samsung's reputation for "on-time" releases, it might be another month or longer before the official 4.1.1 makes it to us.
Thanks, nodstuff!
I just went from froyo to using Padawan 6.2
Only thing is I can't get jigglestar to work anymore. I guess it's not a big deal but I used to have a lot of fun with it.
Any idea if it's the app or something specific with my phone?

If you restored the app from titanium backup and its not working, try uninstalling it and install it fresh from the play store
BTW, how the heck did you have froyo on your note? It came with gingerbread when first released and now comes with ics. lol
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Im sure the OP means GB ....
Plus 1, on a fresh app install from the play store ..
And under "applications " on the device, set the ..."run older applications in compatability mode ".....to..."ON"....g
Oh no, was froyo on a different device.
I never did anything with the more until after I rooted it so I have no experience with gingerbread.
I installed it on my note from the market.
I am thinking it is probably in dire needed if an update and isn't going to get one. So sad because it was the best boob app ever.
Used real video capture

Anyone received the update for Maps on stock os? I am showing that I'm up to date with version 6 but think version 7 is out.
I read somewhere that they are rolling it out slowly to everyone. Actually it mentions that in the Play store for Google maps.

Had it on my work phone, bone stock 4.5.605.14 OTA ROM with lots of stuff disabled... It works, but it is very slow, laggy, and jittery, but aside from that, lots of functionality seems gone or more difficult to use, such as the Measure Lab add-in is gone that I used frequently, in fact all Lab add-ins are gone. I removed it and side-loaded version 6.14.4 back in and everything was wonderful again.
Jitters on new maps
Some, if not everyone, of us have seen the jumping of the screen in the new maps. I have found that if you use Expanded Desktop (if your ROM supports it) the map jumping goes away. Objects that overlay on the screen, like the search, or addresses, etc...seems to have a flutter, but the map itself does not jump around.
i thought of trying this because I noticed that when the screen jumps, it would move just about the that same amount as the size of the status bar. Other times the map would show through the status bar, so without the status bar, things work much better. Not a fix, but workaround if you do not want to downgrade.
Not sure if this is helpful to anyone with the mindset and skills to dig deeper, but wanted to share.
I'm on the latest Infection with that maps release. I had to pick up my wife's sister on my way home from work and she was in a part of town that I don't know so I had to use maps. It was jumping around like crazy. So I hit home button the went into developer settings and disables hw overlays. It instantly stopped jumping around during that session. At end though when I was going through menu it started acting weird. But the twenty minutes I was using the navigation it was fine. Oh and I heard about the hw overlay fix somewhere in the infection thread I believe.

Yeah it's jittery on the s3 using cm 10.1 nightlies gg. Google fail.
Google has a new version. 7/22 apparently on the Play Store. Is it still giving you guys problems on CM?
Yea still jumps around. Maps it better with the new update but navigation is just as bad. Still going to use the previous version till it improves.

OK... I'm gonna backtrack here a bit, I may have gotten my phones confused with Maps. I can't find ANY apk that works in stock ICS for 7.x Maps, I may have tested it on my Rez running JB with Infected Rezound ROM and not the stock one, sorry, my bad.
