Thanks for the replys guys....
i brought it from a ebay seller he said he couldnt get past the 3 android screen but sometimes he could get to the recovery screen...
I have no idea what he did and cant contact him, so im trying to fix it
Im guessing yeah no system files or something, but im stumped as to why the volume keys dont function in the hboot and fastboot menus, but do function when starting/booting to the hboot menu
Is it S-OFF? If so, you could flash recovery and try getting there... there are other things but all of those would actually work only for S-OFF...
other thing to try is flashing an RUU...or flashing the zip comming from it by renaming it to LEGEIMG.zip....but you've said all legeimg's fail....

yeah ive tried renaming various RUU's that people said have worked but no joy
Its not s-off unfortunity
Hmmm, you cant go into fastboot?
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
Yeah I can get into fastboot fine and hboot fine
If you cant go into recovery mode your only option will be flashing a RUU 1.3 in fastboot, and.root again.
Or can you go in to recovery?
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
You say you can't get into recovery, but do you mean that when you go into recovery you get the red "!" screen? If so, have you tried using clockworkmod?
1) Download clockworkmod from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=969076] and put it on your SD card, not it any folders
2) Put a ROM in your SD card (try a rooted ROM first, B 0.8 for example)
3) Go into recovery mode (Vol down+power, select recovery) and you should see the red "!" screen
4) Vol up + power, wait 5-10 secs, then a blue menu will appear. Select "apply update.zip"
5) Another menu will appear there. Clear everything (I think it says factory reset or something), then install ROM from SD card
6) Select the ROM you put on the SD card and let it install
Good luck!
EDIT: Oops, I notice you say that you can't do this in your first post!
,no I can't get into recovery ...
Could you tell me how to flash a RUU in fastboot, that would make my day if I can get it working
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Yes only start the .exe file on your pc, while you connected your Legend with a USB cable and started fastboot.
I would recommend a 1.31 if you want to root your legend again, or a 3.30. RUU if you want the latest official Froyo.
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
Thanks guys just giving it 30mins on charge cas the RUU said not enough power, opppps hehe ill report back !! Thanks again for the help very appreciated
Please, i hope it works^^ do you have a goldcard in your phone?
Edit: which RUU are you.going to flash now?
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
I can put a goldcard in I have one for the legend ... I'm going for the 1.31.405.5 radio 47.26.35.04_7.05.35.26L release 126592 signed
Ok, put the goldcard in, or the ruu will output a cid error. Ok, and after you are going to root your phone again?

So I recently rooted my sprint evo 3d by the hoot 1.50 method. that was all great until using the flash gui app i flashed a bad rom. ever since then, when I turn on my evo 3d only the white screen shows with the green htc letters, after that it goes to a black screen with the backlight still on and the buttons still lit. I have pulled out the battery multiple times and have even pressed the volume down and power button and have wiped cache and stuff, but still no luck. Please help! I CAN NOT be bricked or I will be screwed. thank you
Try flashing another rom, no? Do you have a nandroid you could restore?
Sent by Logo the turtle
I haven't tried flashing another rom, what rom should I flash? I'm totally new to rooting hah. And no I do not have a nandroid I could restore
If none of the answers people are going to post you could always restore back to stock using RUU.

If you are having issues with your current ROM. You could always run the ROM Upgrade Utility (RUU) found in the link below.
http://bit.ly/u3pMEN
Make sure to download the correct file.
(RUU_Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.17.651.5_Radio_1.06.00 .1216)
After it has finished downloading. Re-lock your phone.
Then run the RUU.exe
This will take you back to the Stock HTC 2.17.651.5 ROM.
DO NOT DISCONNECT YOUR DEVICE DURING THE PROCESS. IT COULD BRICK YOUR DEVICE.
Remember this will delete all your current data/apps so use TWRP on the android market to back up all your downloaded content. Only if your going to unlock you device again because you need to root your phone to use TWRP.

We've all been there and doesn't sound like you are screwed so you can probably relax.....lol. Flashing another rom should work since you don't have a nanddroid backup. Just follow the developers instructions exactly for which ever rom you choose. Also since on h-boot 1.5 you need to flash rom in fastboot not in flash image gui. That will only extract the kernel from the rom.
The only way I have ever flashed roms (yes it is monotonous, but it works) is using adb/fastboot. I would try sticking a different rom on your sd card and then booting into bootloader by holding vol - and power. once in that screen hit fastboot and then plug it into a computer. since you unlocked using the HTC method you kind of know what to do with this. find your android tools folder with your adb, fastboot, and recovery files in it. hold shift and right click the folder to open a command window here. once open type 'fastboot boot "nameofyourrecovery".img'. once this is done flash your rom and you should be okay. if not, download the 2.17 ruu exe and run it from your computer like said above.
Hi,
I am new here and this is my first post so forgive me if starting a new thread for this topic was wrong but I found my own situation slightly different from the others here who had the same problem.
I have a gsm unlocked rezound and was trying to get rid of the unknown sim error message at lock screen. I followed the steps mentioned on this thread --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1882355. I rooted the phone, downloaded the apk. Deleted the .odex file and replaced the existing apk with the downloaded one and rebooted. Now, I am stuck at the lock screen with no icons. But for the other people who faced similiar issue, they were able to open the home screen. I can't. I can see pop ups for sms/mail. I get ring when a call comes in but I cant pick. I tried hard reset. Tried booting without sim/sd card. Still no luck. I tried connecting the phone to my pc but now my pc wont recognise the phone when its connected. I can see icon on top of the phone which says USB connected and I also see sync icon, but it will not go any further. I dont know how to get into the phone's menu now.
I may have bitten more than I can chew, silly me :crying:
If you guys can help me in any way, I would appreciate that a lot.
OS : 4.0.3 ICS Running HTC Sense 3.6.
A quick fix:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2017932
Flash my debloater, choosing the Sense option(will be brought to a widget removal screen if you don' use them all) & AOSP lockscreen. Disadvantage to that though, you will have to unlock to see the caller id when it rings.

Thank you for the quick response. I have downloaded the file. I know this sounds stupid but I am a real rookie. I don't know how to do the flashing or how to get to the AOSP lock screen. If you could guide me through the process or maybe give me a link where I can learn it myself, it would be great.
Essentially since you already have rooted, you will(should) also have a custom recovery (TWRP, AmonRa, CWM). Install it as you would a regular rom but without any wipes until after flash of the zip. Dependent on which recovery you will want to look up their FAQ/QnA on how to wipe dalvik/cache.
Once you get inside the script, you will see what I meant by "Choose Sense & AOSP Lockscreen".

Yes the phone was rooted, but I used a rooting software from google apps from the phone. After I downloaded that app, it rooted the phone and brought in an extra icon. I remember it as SU root something, but I didnt do it from the pc. So I dont have any recovery on the pc. I used to sync the phone with htc sync. Unfortunately, right now, my pc wont recognise the phone. I tried root explorer for android from pc, it wont recognise the device. HTC sync too will not. But my phone seems to know when a USB is connected, it brings the usb icon on top but thats about it. ((
Ok, best suggestion at this point is to follow the instruction in the OP for installing TWRP in the Rezound development section.

Thank you for the help buddy. I am glad you said its not. I dont know what I would have done if it had. This is my first android phone and I took it a week back. I was beginning to miss my iPhone . Unfortunately the link you provided wont help me because I have no way of restarting phone other than by removing battery. Even when in fastboot, the pc does not recognise the device even when device shows fastboot usb. I doubt if I can get past step 1 in that link.
I found that I am on Vigor H Boot 2.27.000 and Radio 2.22.10.0803r with S-ON. I tried to turn S-Off after reading and educating myself on android from this forum till now. But even to S-Off, I need to be able to enable USB in debug mode which I am not able to. Any suggestions ?
Device still not fixed
hi,
I took the phone to a couple of places to check if it can be fixed, No one was able to fix it thus far, Any other advice or suggestions to fix this would be great. Any admins/mods have something to add ? Please, I am desperate to fix this phone. Anyway of doing this ?
Have you tried flashing a different rom?
If he's S-on and locked, he can simply flash the latest RUU can't he(just to get the phone working again). From there someone can help him set up adb, and s-off.

From what they posted, somehow they don't have a custom recovery even though they are rooted?
Can you put a PH98IMG.zip file of a recovery (either Amon Ra or TWRP) on your SD card and flash it in hboot? Then flash a custom ROM the same way from recovery.
You can take the SD card out and mount it on your pc and use your pc to copy over the recovery PH98IMG.zip file.
And oh yeah, I see what Obaterista... was saying. You should be able to flash the latest RUU from hboot. Here's a link for it:

Yes I rooted from a tool I found on android market. Noob me. So I do not have a recovery. I had downloaded the PH98IMG.zip and put it in my sd card and tried. The recovery starts and then shows a red exclamation and then nothing happens.
I was just trying different pages for help. Someone has mentioned that I should add the PH98IMG.zip as just PH98IMG and I shud not add the .zip. Thats the only thing left to try. I will post what happens when I do that.

Hi, i was trying to install a custom rom , (king kobra 3d 1.6) and after i installed my phone went into a boot loop and would just restart every time i tried to boot. When i hold vol down+ power i can access hboot but if i choose recovery my phone just reboots and goes into a boot loop again. Ive searched all over the internet but couldn't find anyone with the same kind of problem. Can someone help me, i just started using android not long ago so im a complete noob at this.
Things ive tried...
Using another battery/charging from a computer
doing a factory reset from hboot but this didnt work and my phone just rebooted.
ps ive heard you can do something with hboot to get recovery back but ive no idea what to do.
Any help would be really appreciated thanks.

Plug up to the computer and put it in fastboot usb, Download you a recovery and rename it to recovery put it in a directory with fastboot and open a command prompt
type "fastboot flash recovery recovery recovery.img"
That should fix you up.
The fastboot recovery flash will work if you can do it properly. You could also drop the recovery.img into a zip file, call it PG86IMG.zip and toss it on the root of the sdcard, then flash it via hboot, you'd need a SD card reader or another device to copy the zip image there, but same outcome.
So i have an HTC Amaze 4G, T mobile. I rooted it using Hasoon2000's all in one kit to do the rooting and all. Once i did that i didn't flash any roms. An old problem arose with the phone with the contacts app always force closing, didn't mind it. So what i did then was want beats audio so i installed the drivers. Everything was fine and dandy until one day it started to restart on its own, and then the weather app would force close. Until when it restarted one time, all i got was a blank black screen, with just the status bar at the top. I couldn't bring down the quick settings or even the side buttons would not work, all i could do was just turn off the screen. So if somebody can tell me what i did, what happened, and maybe a link or explanation of how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

I have TeamWinRecovery tried the factory reset already and it says failed, so im going to try clock work mod. Hello,
I was recently given a bootlooping Evo 4G Lte. I have been trying to figure out how to get this thing out of a bootloop and havent been able to do it. I, unfortunately, have no history on what happened to this device. Currently, it bootloops on the "Mean Bean" loading screen but will go no further. I can get into the bootloader, which says it is Unlocked, S-On, but I am unable to boot it into a recovery, it just returns back to bootloader. I have tried fastbooting twrp, but it fails (remote: image update error), and I have tried fastbooting the Mean Bean kernel thinking maybe thats all it needs, but that failed as well. Anybody have an insight? Much appreciated! Thanks.
Mike
I would run the 3.17 RUU. Hit the top link in my sig and look at the last post in the thread. You can run it from the bootloader. You'll need to re-root afterwards but it should get your phone back in working condition.

Thanks for the quick reply. I downloaded the RUU and ran it. However it sits and says "Waiting for bootloader" then errors out with "USB connection issue". The usb is working. The reason I never ran the RUU in teh first place was because i thought i read that you cant RUU with and unlocked bootloader. Is that not true? or is that my problem?
Mike
Not 100% sure but I will check with someone who used this tool recently and see if they were still unlocked at the time. Were you connected via Fastboot USB? Sounds more like a driver issue.

Shouldn't matter. I know of a couple of users who were having phone issues and had unlocked bootloaders when they ran this tool. Were you connected via Fastboot USB? Sounds more like a driver issue.

Yeah I was connected and it said fastboot USB. It said rebooting to bootloader and rebooted, still said fastboot USB. Then it sat at a screen that said "waiting for bootloader" and after a while error ed out.
You can try relocking. You just need to run the command "fastboot oem relock" from a command line while connected via fastboot USB mode.

I have since tried relocking to see if that was it, and it did the same thing.

Hopefully @YoFayce can shed some light on the matter since he recently used this on his phone.

you can use the stock RUU and you can leave the bootloader unlocked as it will not affect anything.. it will fix your looping problem (Amongst others) as in gps not working ect.. once your done you will need to fastboot over your TWRP and from there mod as normal Good Luck! and ill be watching if you need any help!

Problem is the ruu keeps error in out. I am beginning to think it may still be a driver problem. Someday I will get this done!

When in doubt update your android SDK remove the htc drivers reboot install drivers reboot and you should be good to go! Check the integrity of your USB cable and if possible use a rear USB port (More Power) Painful process yes but well worth it.. HTC drivers act strange till you reboot OOOh and make sure your using the proper HTC drivers for windows 32 bit or 64 bit!

The drivers seem to be ok, but I am still not able to get any further. The RUU finds my phone, then reboots again to bootloader, but it just sits there saying "Waiting for bootloader" until it errors out due to "USB Connection error". I have tried a few different cables, and different USB ports. Not sure what the problem is but it just wont go any further. I re-unlocked my bootloader with htcdev. I have tried fastbooting a recovery to the phone but it errors out. I just cant get anything to work so I can boot anything. I really just want to get something working...anything! Any other ideas? Thanks.

Sinister,
Thanks for the reply. I put TWRP on the sdcard (named PJ75IMG, right?) and tried to apply that when I rebooted to recovery last night and it failed. It tries to load it but gives a few errors quick (No Image) Did I do it wrong?

make sure the file is just the PJ75IMG no additional text and it should be .zip If I recall correctly. make sure its on the root of the sdcard not internal but sd or external and it should be at the top level e.g. sdcard/ make sure its not in any other folders after you do that hold power and vol down get to hboot screen itll scan and then just follow the instructions.

Thats exactly what I did. It is the only thing on the sdcard. It says no gift file, Loading, no image for 4 different things. Then returns to the bootloader.

careful on the vol down press you might be holding it too long and its canceling the update.

Well, which recovery file should I be using? When I use the main TWRP ones (ie openrecovery-twrp-2.6.0.0-jewel.img) it gives me the errors like I said above. I now see they have a few labeled like this PJ75IMG-twrp-2.3.1.0-jewel.zip. When I use these, it tries to continue but says "Main Version Is Older. FAILED"
