My phone has kpe version of gingerbread, and GPS doesn't work (but do worked with froyo).
Anybody has the same problem?
No problem here, used GPS twice this week. Try a debugging app like GPS Status and try if you can find any satellites.

I did but i can't find any satellite. Also I saw many phones with gingerbread had this problem, like htc.
I remember in froyo i put this code: *#*#3214789650#*#* to locate the satellites, but in gingerbread doesn't work
You can use :
GPS test Free version : https://market.android.com/details?id=com.chartcross.gpstest&feature=search_result

Next time post this kind of question in the topic of the rom, and not open a new one, this would cluther the forums like crazy.
But advice, indeed install another Froyo rom, Fusionrom is out of date.
same problem here with many roms, nealy all since 4 months. compass app (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.apksoftware.compass&feature=search_result) says, it finds one satellite, but thats all...
Well, there's one way you can get a faster fix. Use FasterFix on the Market. It changes the region your phone looks for satellites in, or something close to that. Set your region, ie. if you're in North America, set it to North America. If you're in Europe, set it to Europe.
Hello,
I'm seems to be having this issue since I've installed my first modded rom or Radio.
Cannot recall it just now.
It does not matter which rom I have installed but the only way to get GPS working is to reboot the phone. Since then the gps works ok for some time.
Does anyone experience the same issue? Any solutions?
Cheers

I can offer 2 suggestions.
1) Give "GPS Status" a try. Android Market. **Edit: use this app to download new GPS data. Can't remember exactly what it's called.
2) Go to this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8176243&postcount=1)and search for "GPS". There are 3 files. Europe, US and Asia. Try the one for your location.
Option 2 usually works for me. I think it is compatible with any ROM.
Thanks,
flashing the radio and Heroine seem to fixed the issue.
I will keep testing it in next few days
I would also suggest the app 'GPS Status and Toolbox'.
If that fails then try a different radio.
How did you get on after a few days?
yesterday I installed custom Rom (HyDrOG3N-ICS 02.04 ) on my galaxy S2 and now I am having problem with GPS signals, can anyone confirm if they are able to use gps on this Rom. thanks
Can't confirm GPS works on this rom as I don't use it, but in answer to the question raised in the subject of your post, you can test GPS with GPS Status from market. Shows all kinds of useful details/info (and comes in a 'lite' version w/ads if you're averse to paying for apps )
When I first installed the rom, gps didnt locate me when I used google maps. I just used gps fix from the market and it found me pretty fast.

I have tried GPS Status from market it did not catch any signals. I am a bit confused between, its hardware problem or software
You may test to flash other radio.
It's not HARDWARE considering that it was working on your old rom
moden and gps?
is there any connection between this 2 ?
Hi,
Yesterday I flashed CM9 resurrection edition (before that I had a 2.3.5 stock ROM) and GAPPS.
Everything seems to work fine, apart from the GPS function...
In 2 times I tried, it took my SG2 about 15-20 minutes to lock on to a signal (and after that it was fine...), but in all the other times, it doesn't get a lock on.
I d/l GPS status and GPS Test and I get nothing.
I tried the AGPS patch from here, but nothing seems to work.
I looked all over the net for a solution, but didn't got to anything useful.
Can anyone help?
Try to flash a newer CM9 Nightly. Many improvements have been committed since last resurection release.

I read GPS fix installs tons of spam and push ads. I prefer avoid it.
Any other idea?
Flash latest nightly. The latest commit found below fixes your problem

Hi, I bought a Motorola Atrix in Amazon 2 months ago. Since start the Gps din't work at all, 0 in view in apps like "Gps test". I tried almost everything: changing gps.conf, flashing radios, using custom roms like Nottachtrix and CM7, and reverting back to stock via rsd. Btw, a friend of mine who bought the same phone at the same time, had problems with gps in stock rom, but after flashing CM7, it worked just fine.
So, I ask you to help me giving any ideas to fix this.
Maybe this can be useful: The Atrix came with Italian retail rom and N_01.100.00R radio.
Thanks a lot.
PS: Sorry if I don't write quite well, I'm not an english natural speaker.

If you use an app such as GPS status do you pick up any satellites? It seems to be a common problem to find the satellites but not to be able to get a lock.
Also is you install GPS Status it will allow you to update the agps files.
Did you try gps lock with data access enabled? And as eddhard said do you pick any satellites?
In the gps settings menu turn OFF the options to use mobile networks or wifi. Then use the gps status or gps test app outside in a clear view for a minute or two. If it reports an accuracy distance as 0 or an error there is an issue with your gps that I might have a solution for.
For no reason my gps straight up failed to get a lock. In the test apps, it would see 9-10 satellites with strong signal but never wanted to get a lock. Multiple multiple factory resets, formats, any other variable I tried to change and the issue persisted.
I've attached the file that fixed the issue for me. Extract the libnmea.so and place it in your /system/lib folder after you make a backup of the existing file. Let us know if that helps.

Thanks for your answers, the problem isn't the locking of any of the sats. Test apps show "0 in view" even on outdoors.
I don't have a solution. But I've had a lot of difficulty with GPS on my Atrix as well. I can get a lock usually after a minute or so, but then the GPS would go to sleep. So if I'm moving or logging a route, it'll show me where I started even after several minutes. I flashed radios, updated gps conf, and used GPS Status & Toolbox to get a lock. Still no improvement. It helped me get the initial lock, and didn't resolve the freezing issue. I eventually gave up and bought separate GPS. So I'd be interested to know if you find a way to fix this.
Guys, if you don't see any satellites in GPS Status app, maybe is hardware issue. If you have warranty, use it. If you don't, try to disassemble your phone and look. Maybe just cable is disconnected or has bad contact. Of course be very careful with disassembling or ask someone with experiences. Youtube guide how to change digitizer on Atrix could be useful.
Good luck
I had problems with GPS fix on AT&T atrix 4g with N_01.100.00R europe radio. After flashing 37p at&t radio gps works perfectly, fix is really fast.
Also WiFi signal strength increased.
