I am trying to flash clockworkmod on my Gtab so I can put VEGAn 5.1.1 on it. While I was copying the update.zip and recovery folders over from the download, it notified me that there were already those two folders on my Gtab. What do I do to fix this? Do I delete the two folders that came on my Gtab and replace the two new folders onto it?
This is the first time I am rooting this tablet, so I really don't want to mess anything up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Just let the new zip file and recovery folder overwrite the old ones. Each ROM (and some utilities) has a set of these, and they're used during the install.
Just keep the originals on your PC in case you have to re-flash something at a later date.

When I install clockworkmod, do I need to delete the install files? Same with a new rom. Once the rom is installed. Do I have to delete the rom files?
outdooz,
You don't have to, but I think it's good practice.
Some people rename them -- for example change the update.zip for version 3588 to "update3588.zip". Some people even make a roms directory and store them
there in case they are needed again. Folks also make a copy of the stock recovery and command file under another name like "stockrecovery" folder and put it in the
rom directory in case they need a recovery with "command" file to load something!
I personally have a "downloads" (with an s) directory which I store stuff in I might
need.
Hope this helps. Set it up like you want it.

Im a total noob to this But thanks for the information. But how do u make a directory?
I have a folder on my computer full of the apk files of apps I regularly install after flashing a new rom, I was wondering if it is possible to turn that folder into a .zip folder that is able to be flashed to the phone in CWM just like when you flash the Gapps.
I have searched around for an answer for about half an hour and can not find anything, your help would be very much appreciated, sorry if this is something very basic I'm new here.
Yeah as long as you have an Update/Updater script and the apps in the correct folder it should be doable- I once created a UOT theme, unzipped it, and added my own launcher under "apps" et voila- it worked.
Hi all,
I have a SmartQ ten3 T15 Android 4.0 tablet (TI OMAP 4430 SoC) on the way to me from China.
As I like to have all files on hand before gadgets arrive, I downloaded the standard firmware yesterday from the SmartQ website.
As I read somewhere (don't know where) that sometimes firmware files are zip files I renamed the extention-less firmware file to .zip and I could just open the file with winrar and extract the complete file structure of this ROM.
That got me thinking of creating my own ROM files, but first I'd like to have some questions answered by people with experience doing this.
Normal firmware update on this tablet is done via micro SD card, and by entering a boot option while holding down certain keys.
The questions:
- Is it as easy as putting in or taking out the files in the folder structure, zip the files and remove the extention and update it to the tablet?
- Winrar says the file is signed with signApk, but this also seems a very straightforward procedure to signing my own ROM's. Or will the tablet only accept files signed with their certificates?
- Anybody else have experience with firmware files for other devices who work the same way? And do you have tips for me?
One of the things I'm trying to achieve is getting bluetooth and FM to work, the hardware supports it but it is disabled by firmware.
And further on I would just like to customize the tablet further, by removing apps and adding my own and so on.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Greetings,
Not sure if this something Ive done when rooting and putting busybox on, but im trying to backup the entire contents of my sdcard to my desktop.
The files start copying, but at some point it fails and most of the folders of high interest are empty on the desktop. I need my titanium backup and mybackuppro, rom backups, etc. What it looks like I have to go into each of these folders and copy manually.
I just want to select all, copy, paste and be done with it.
Has anyone had an experience like this?
same here.
and can see not all folders/files' and even worse: i see dfferent folders with windws explorer, total commander mtp and total commander adb... only on the device itself i can see everything correct...
dn't know what it is, never seen before...
I made some progress here. Im preparing for a firmware upgrade which wipes, so I need this backup.
I noticed that from the root, if I drag one folder alone, it will copy that with all sub-folders properly.
It's only when you copy multiple folders that it fails.
Maybe this is solved in the firmware upgrade to HBOOT 1.35. I will report back here when complete.

This appears to be fixed now after the firmware upgrade. Copying all files without any recursion problems

The other day I made a backup of my phone with CW recovery. I always pull the archived single file backup to my computer which appears like a zipped file to me. I blinded trusted a friend by telling him instructions, he pulled that file (the backup) from my phone but he pulled opened it with WINRAR and pulled those files instead of the single backup/image file.
Hope that made sense...
I'm trying to revert back to that backup but unable to since its not the way its suppose to be. Anyone able to recommend anything to revert the files back to a single file or tell me if the backup is lost?
