Hi Guys,
Bought a Fascinate to replace my ipod touch because it got washed.
The Fascinate is Verizon branded.
Couple of questions.
Will it have a sim card slot?
Can it be unlocked to work on 3g or 2g networks in Australia?
Have googled everything figured someone here may know.
Cheers

Sorry, the verizon fascinatr is CDMA, no SIM. What you wanted was a Telus Fascinate or any other Galaxy S phone, except the Epic.

if a nexus s3 puchased from verizon is purchased
then sim unlocked for use with tmobile
are the radios compatible with tmobiles 4g network speeds?
or is it a similar problem with the network only allowing edge similar to the iphone4s factory unlocked....

Won't work.
CDMA vs GSM.
Wait, what?? A nexus s3?

i meant a galaxy s3
sorry about that ... but really it wont work?
Nope. Not unless the Verizon one has GSM radios inside.
Why don't you just get a tmo or at&t one or buy one straight up?

Hehe. Even if (hypothetically) it has a GSM radio in it,
and hasn't got a SIM slot....
What exactly would it take to get t-mobile wifi calling to function on the at&t note?

I have the same question. I put a post in the q&a a few minutes ago. I read flashing the stock ROM from the t-mo Note might work but I haven't found where to download that ROm.

I have the AT&T note running on the T-Mobile network, with the wifi calling functioning fine. It is included in the stock T-Mo rom. The T-Mo stock rom is over at the T-Mo Note forum under tomin's GOODIES post. The second post has instructions for running the T-Mo stock rom on the i717.

I get best results running the blaze modem for ICS. The modified T-Mo modem from Tomin works, but for me, blaze was better. As always, try them all. You may have to get a new sim card from T-Mo if you get an error that says you need to replace your sim card. I needed to replace mine. Good luck, although it was easy.
Hey Sack, what kind of speeds are you getting? I've got a 717 too, but I'm using it on ATT at the moment. But, my Nexus One is running on TMO network and I was considering swapping the sims to see how the Note would function.

Awesome info thank you. I ordered a tmo sim card today. The agent mentioned something about it being a new kind of sim.

Depends where I am. I get as much as 14 megs down, and 1-1.7 megs up. Other places I get only 3 megs down and 1 meg up.I tether and stream netflix easily to my Nexus 7 or Transformer Prime. I am in the Phoenix area. (I am originally from NY woot!). I've had the AT&T note on T-Mo for quite a while, and for me it has been great.
I get er05 sim card error for wifi calling

I am also running Tmobile stock rom on tmobile network with i717. I get the er05 error. Is there a particular sim that I need to get? Are all tmobile sim same? I had no problem using wifi calling on actual tmobile phones using this sim. Some clarification would be greatly appreciatedit

You need one of the newer sims in order for wifi callin to work with the newer version of it. The older sims are not compatible. Question for you, is the t-mpbile rom working well for you? I'm also using an unlocked att note with t-mobile service...

I know the specs show that it has AT&T LTE bands, but had anybody actually used it on AT&T LTE yet? If so, please report your impressions.
Thanks.

I'm confused why so many people are worried about unlocking and band compatibility. Get the one from your own carrier !

Works exactly the same for me using an AT&T SIM in the T-Mobile HTC one. The other way around, I get less HSPA+ service using an AT&T SIM in a T-Mobile HTC One.

No. The AT&T one doesn't fully support T-Mobile while the T-Mobile one fully supports BOTH T-Mobile and AT&T.
For people who don't want CDMA-based service, the T-Mobile version is the best one to buy for compatibility.

Are you sure about that, Maybe the AT&T version needs to be unlocked for it to work on T-Mobile's HSPA+ Network. I hope like hell it does because I would like to have the 64gb version working on my Network of choice, T-Mobile of course.

This has been discussed to death on the boards.
All the phones have the same internal radio hardware but what's been flashed to each device is different.
i got a att version unlock, big mistake for tmobile. i flashed tmobile rom and radio. alot of places in new york i get 2G which it was constant 4G with my note 2. Place where i get 4G i only get 7mbps. while with my note 2 i was able to get up to 18mbps. Order the tmobile version will return this one. The only reason i bought this is because they had it locally in ATT store while tmobile htc one is on backorder and not avail in any store.
Unfortunately Samsung doesn't just make the same model for both I would imagine it would save them money also but att phones work slow on T-Mobile but other way around your golden

I don't think the radio from the ATT LGOG works with TMO LTE.
Is there anyway to flash another radio that would let u get 3g or 4g something other than Edge.

I just ordered this phone today so I can't speak from experience, but T-mobile LTE should work with the right settings. From what I've read the AT&T Optimus G (E970) has support for LTE on frequencies 700mhz and 1700mhz, T-mobile also uses 1700mhz for their LTE. Some areas in the US might let it get HSPA as well. If everything is unlocked and you're using a T-mobile SIM card then you should just need the correct APN settings. This link should help:

Hey - just went through this for an ATT i747 (Samsung Galaxy S3). Someone in the forum provided the Tmobile bootloader, modem and platform and att CSC. It ended up being what T-mobile used to tested their LTE network using ATT i747. Works great get 4G LTE. Figure will need the same type of code for the LG-E970 bootloader, modem, and platform. Still having to use ATT CSC.
On the other forum they offered up a bounty to get it done.
Could do the same thing.
You're the millionth person to ask. No, it won't work. Not going to bother pointing out why anymore. No tmo version of the lgog exists.

Hello,
My dad recetly retired his GS3 SCH-530C. He originally bought from Cricket (a US carrier) and is compatible with 4G LTE speeds. As some of you may know, Cricket was recently aquistioned by AT&T, so now they use AT&T Networks and use SIM cards. Cricket used to be a CDMA carrier when the GS3 came out but now is a GSM carrier. The GS3 in question is a CDMA however it has a slot for a SIM card so I am not sure if its compatible with the-now-GSM Cricket. Currently, the phone has a blank SIM card replica installed but has no use. So in case you're confused: Is the GS3 SCh-530C compitible with a GSM network?
