Maybe my Rezound is just weird, but the latest leaks seem to lag a pretty decent amount for me. I wouldn't say it's unbearable, but some apps just take longer to load and the animations are kind of choppy when compared to my Samsung Fascinate (obviously with inferior hardware) that's running ICS right now. Is this just because HTC hasn't implemented full hardware acceleration in the UI or are there some things I can try that would help?

It is called taking a 100 or so MB OS and making it 500+MB with sense...lol. also too, to be fair, HTC hasn't released a final product, so it may improve drastically.

Lol...that could be it. It's insane how much **** they can pack into a single ROM. On my Fascinate I'm used to seeing a ~110MB ROM at the absolute most and on this thing they usually exceed 500MB.
My guess is since it's not finished they probably just haven't implemented full HW acceleration but I'm hoping to get some kind of conclusive answer.
they are "leaks" for a reason.
we are basically all testing for HTC.
I wouldn't put it past them if they read these threads as we do all the work finding the bugs.
or at least the DEVs do I mean!
It's like you have a 4 cyl car and only 2 are working lol.
not too mention this is ICS with sense 3.5..
I don't know if we will get it with that, or 3.6 or 4.0, so it's all in the air.
TBH ICS isn't anything to go crazy about. I thought the same waiting for froyo with the Eris, and also about GB on the inc1..
change is great but nothing to lose sleep over.
Without Sense, ICS is awesome. With sense, it is probably slightly higher performance than GB. The UI will otherwise look similar. But the Desensed roms run really well on my rezound. After stripping out as much as possible the size of the rom can be reduced significantly.
i'm assuming the acceleration what's causing golauncher, lpp and adw ex to slow down to a crawl. 3 screens and 8 functional widgets seems to be too much for ICS outside of sense

When I flashed Scott's stock ICS rom, it lagged quite a bit just from scrolling through the screens so I'm assuming this is normal.
I'm running Scott's CleanROM 2.1 now. And I have to say I like it a lot (aside from Sense of course lol). My benchmarks are much higher because I believe ICS is built for dual-core devices? I have amazing performance. Have you tried this ROM?

wow, I have never seen a phone run 8 widgets well. Even aosp roms I've run, once I add on a ton of widgets, all the launchers I've tried like adw and launcher pro start to lag.
I'm running Scott's CleanRom that is a 4.0.1 leak with sense 3.5 overlay. It actually doesn't lag up to much, he did an amazing job. But I'm already ready for some fixes on his (Scott) Senseless Rom, then I will be back on it lol.

Give this a shot http://www.mediafire.com/?8ok2adqawvd82m2 it's the stock ics launcher from a 4.0.1 rom that made speed improvements on it. Let me know if you think it's smoother than the original stock. Just push it via adb and see how it goes.

I wouldn't be able to tell you why. Best bet is to e-mail the developer and see what he/she says.
Is it possible to do? I've gotten sense 4 multitasking on my nexus s so i was hoping it might be possible to get stock ics multitasking on my evo. I use multitasking a lot (even though its got its issues) but i prefer to see them in a list rather than swipe through each one.
people love to ***** about simple stuff lol
if you hate it so much return it
or wait for a AOSP rom like CM 9 or AOKP
dude, chill out. if youre gonna post such a negative response, why take out the time to post at all. smh. i love the phone.
I was wondering the same too. Sense 4 implementation looks more impressive and flashy for showing off to your friends but the stock ics implementation is much more usable.
The way you got the sense task switcher on another device, did it involve changing the framework?

hmm im not sure. an awesome developer over at the nexus s 4g thread made the mod. just flashed the zip and i was using sense 4 multitask. like you said, its cool to show off, but everyday use, i prefer stock (even though i enjoy most of sense)
It involves modification of the ROM's SystemUI. On the Nexus S, it was a matter of modifying the source code. On Sense 4, you're going to have to decompile and play with smali.

The charmeleon rom from the dev forum apparently has the option to change the multitasking, as well as the lockscreen, back to AOSP style. I'm testing it out right now and both tweaks are good to go. The only thing that is different from my modded ViperROM is that recent apps isn't mapped to menu anymore as joelz made some changes and that became non-functional for now.

Which option is the multitasking option?
I'm shocked that HTC hasn't made an attempt to fix this screw up. Regardless if they did it on purpose. Ok great, got it. But that was a bad idea and should be fixed. The multitasking is so annoying. I'll find myself filling out a form, then switch apps, then try to go back to the form and it reloads the page and kills everything I've filled out. AAAAHHHHH!!! Same with like copying and pasting a password from one app to another... I tried to ignore the hype about this issue while we waiting to receive our phones, but in the end, it really does get in the way. Can't wait for a vanilla android ROM.
Also, from what I've heard, there's not a single person on the planet that's actually happy about this. So why the heck isn't HTC changing it to appease everyone? Noone wants your stupid multitasking feature HTC! Shame on you.
EDIT: It is a sick phone though!

That's just a ui change, it doesn't change the way multitasking actually works.
In order to fix multi-tasking, you have to adjust the memory values which Viper's ROM does. Then it works fine no matter which multi-task UI you use...

I have been a fan of CM roms since I can remember having an Android phone, always loved the feeling of a clean Android Software.
Too bad samsung always packs touchwiz on its software, I hate its launcher, the icons, the settings menu, notification bar... Everything on it!
The problem I ham having is that going with CM based roms nowadays implies having to leave most of the amazing features of this phone behind, like its amazing camera, CM camera works, but not 100%, keeps giving me trouble and the picture quality cant be compated to Samsung roms.
Does any1 know a Samsung rom with the 100% looks of JB Android ?

You can try Romow N4 ROM. It is a Sammy based ROM with NOVA launcher pre-installed, without any bloatwares, dioxidized and rooted to the likes of many. The only reason in my case where I find this particular ROM great is that there are many features included in it such as in-built call-recorder(stalker app I know) 2 camera apps(Original Sammy and a Nexus's I believe?) , no touchwheeze and bloatwares, no lag on keyboard operations(usually found in many custom jelly bean ROMS) just to name a few. I was on CM10 before but found this a tad better especially for the fact that my OEM(China made RED cables) MHL adaptor works fine with this ROM unlike the latter. So you can give this one a try, it has been my daily driver for about a few days now.

Do you mean DEODEXED ?
You know that performance-wise, deodexing a ROM is a huge step backwards, right?
I found absolutely no advantages in the ROM mentioned (Romow N4), and everything it provides can either be installed from the Play Store or uninstalled using Titanium Backup. Besides, it probably is MUCH, MUCH SLOWER than a stock, odexed ROM.
The only advantage of deodexing a ROM is to allow for theming the ROM by changing the resources some apps use (like the framework itself).

Also true, but that's not something the regular user (which I believe is the case here) will do, or even know how to do. Therefore, my general advice for those who don't know the difference, is to simply avoid deodexed ROMs.

you can simply freeze touchwiz home and use nova or apex or any other launcher out there and still enjoy the other goodies from samsung.
Everyone talks about Apex and Nova launchers but Holo is the best of them all in my opinion it's just not as widely known as the others, check it out from the market (quite similar to Apex actually but better IMO)
I'm assuming I'm not alone here, as I have seen many people across the forums saying that they have either already gone to, or are thinking of flashing an AOSP ROM, and are worried about losing all of those Samsung Goodies (Like hover, air gestures, eye control, TW Camera, etc.) They generally also seem to want the customizability of a custom rom, as well. So, let's discuss how people have gone about getting that JB feel on a TW ROM.
The way I currently have this set up is with the Hyperdrive 5.7 ROM as a base. With just that, you get a smoother, faster, and enormously feature-packed TW ROM. The customization you can accomplish with this ROM is very impressive, especially considering it is TouchWiz. On top of this, I'm running - yep, you guessed it - Nova Launcher.
Nova Launcher is, in my opinion, the obvious choice for getting stock JB feel on any device. Nova allows the important customizations made to Hyperdrive to continue working, while adding the JB feel right on top. I've also run the script from within Hyperdrive to enable the Nexus 4 Softkeys, and I've shut off the lights on the capacitive keys on the device itself. This makes them completely invisible, so the device looks much more like a Nexus device, if you like that sort of thing.
What do you guys think? What other options are out there? I'm looking to give some insight to users who may want to get this type of feel on their S4, while also getting some feedback or better/different ways of achieving this. Good luck, and happy theming!

Yeah. So the dialer and incoming calls are both part of the TW base. Nova launcher is just that; a home/launcher replacement. Just as you said. Though I am sure there are theming options for these things through third party methods, since many people dislike TW appearances.

When you say Stock Android look and feel do you mean AOSP?
Hyperdrive has a lot of options for pretty much every apsect of the rom
Eclipse S4 TW Edition is basically a TW rom with the look and feel of AOSP. Those are the two best in my opinion. If you're really trying to get down to nearly pure AOSP programs and stuff you can check out Andybone's Barebones Rom too. It just depends on how AOSP like you wanna go.

Not ROM related.
also there is NOTHING wrong with the AOSP lock screen,
and Samsung Music is found in Aroma, choose hub..
I suggest doing a FULL CLEAN install, and NOT installing anything outside my thread.
I can only assume you flashed an android.policy.jar and that broke the AOSP lock screen. User Error.
Also I don't include ANY app you can download from the play store.. why would I?
waste of space.
Everything you hate about my ROM can all be solved by fixing your user errors, and a little research.
