NaviPanel & Car Kit Mode Q's... - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know if NaviPanel will only auto launch when you use the HTC car mount hardware kit? I know that you can actually go into the windows directory and create copies and shortcuts to launch it manually, however in my version of WinMob 6.5, in the Settings section, there is a Car Kit Mode settings panel that specifically asks you to Auto Launch the NaviPanel when you connect to a BT registeres device of your choice from what you have paired to.
This being said, does anyone also know if it's possible to play with the UI in the NaviPanel.exe file to set the buttons to link to another Navigation program on the phone besides Telenav? I use TomTom7, Bing, and Google maps usually, Telenav is not my forte.
If anyone is as curious and geeky as I am about this, please allow me to pick your brains!
Cheers,
Mario

AstroGPSLauncher - Launch Tomtom/iGuidance/Other

First I would like to say thanks to Shadowmite and Baffles for their idea of GPS Launcher. Shadowmite's GPSLauncher and Baffles' GPS Launcher are great gps launcher but aren't suite my need so I decided to write one myself.
Shadowmite's GPSLauncher is nice and compact but more work, I need to launch the application and click the 'Tomtom' to launch it (2 step). I like Baffles' idea when click on it and launch immediately but unfortunately it use .NET use lot of RAM.
I have issue on both application for tomtom is that when turn off the screen or someone call in, gps connection get lost and re-click it to open up the gps port for tomtom.
This AstroGPSLauncher open the gps port and launch 'gps application'. AstroGPSLauncher will close itself upon 'gps application' exit in which won't have issue when someone call in or turn off the phone.
iGuidance has issue with refresh the screen. To get iGuidance work correctly you need to get GPS Gate to redirect com 4 to com 2 and use this launcher to launch iGuidanceQVGA.exe, on iGuidance set to com 2. This way won't have map refresh issue.
--How to use this AstroGPSLauncher ---
--Copy AstroGPSLauncher to your Main Memory
\AstroGPSLauncher\AstroGPSLauncher.exe
(YOu can copy AstroGPSLauncher to SD Card but you need to change the path inside the shortcut if you use)
This launcher launch gps application through parameter(if you know what I meant) . I have provide two shortcuts 'Tomtom Launcher' which and 'iGuidance Launcher' for your need(Make sure you install tomtom app or iGuidance to main memory which you should). If you install on different location, you need to use notepad and edit the shortcut to correct gps application and icon or you can use 'SK Shortcut Manager' to create a short that point to your launcher.
SK Shortcut Manager - New Short cut Instruction
Name = you provide
Command = select AstroGPSLauncher
Parameters = select your gps application
and set icon to your gps application.
BTW, this application only take 2k of RAM (very small) and 10k for disk memory. It much less memory usage than Shadowmite's GPSLauncher and Baffles' GPS Launcher
If you like this application, please give some comments.
Thanks to shadowmite cab the file.
For people have problem to get AstroGPSLauncer to work
Please use 'SK Shortcut Manager to create a shortcut for you and simplify your process
Sk Shortcut Manager can be download here http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/S...-Applications/SK-Shortcut-Manager-18241.shtml
[SK Shortcut Manager]
Create new Shortcut
Name = you provide
Command = select AstroGPSLauncher
Parameters = select your gps application
and set icon to your gps application.
YOu can uninstall SK Shortcut Manager after done create a shortcut for your GPS
If you use iGuidance, you can use TalynOne 'iGuidanceInternalGPSLauncher.mscr', with GPSGate to get one step launch solution

Awesome! Thanks AstronusX, will be testing this soon. I updated my FAQ with info about your app.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363431
Edit: Just tested it, I first had to change the IGuidance shortcut to point to my storage card, as you described. I tested both TomTom and IGuidance and they work as advertised. I also tested running TomTom, turning off my Mogul, waiting 30 seconds, and turning it back on, and TomTom reacquired the GPS within 10 seconds. Awesome, thanks again AstronusX!
Works perfect with iGuidance.
Thanks!
What are the chances of adding auto-launch/auto-kill of GPSGate to this app? That would be the end-all-be-all launcher for iGuidance.
I created an iGuidance one tap autolauncher. If GpsGate is not running, it starts it. The script then stores your device's current Power timeout, and backlight timeout and brightness settings. Then sets your device for no timeouts for power and backlight, and sets your backlight to maximum brightness. It then sets iGuidance to skip the startup warning dialog, before launching iGuidance through AstroGPSLauncher. Once you exit iGuidance the script will restore your previous backlight/power settings. The only thing not working in the script right now is that it doesn't terminate GpsGate on exit if the script started GpsGate. I have not found a reliable way to close GpsGate. All current methods I've tried of closing/terminating GpsGate leave an unresponsive icon in the tray of the Today screen.
For those who are interested, I've made a copy of this script available for download HERE. Instructions on how to install/use the script are in the included "iGuidanceInternalGPSLauncher.mscr" Mortscript file.
Working quite well with iGo 2006
Nice job, working well with TomTom.
can we just dumb this down to my level for a sec lol...for my iguidance...

You need to install GPSGAte software or GPSProxy to redirect the port to com2 and use AstroGPSLauncher shortcuts to launch it.

-- For iGo to work you also need to redirect your port as well, use GPSGate or GPSProxy to redirect your port to com2. After that, use 'Notepad' and open one of the short cut(eg. Tomtom Navigator Launcher) and change Tomtom Path to iGo Path and copy ur new shortcut to to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and launch it from there (make sure you have gpsgate setup and it is running).
--Note: You can find 'Tomtom Navigator Launcher' shortcut in my zip file.
To create shortcut, you can use SK ShortCut Manager to make it simple and you can change icon as well.
Yah, I figured out the shortcut last night. This program ROCKS! THank you so much. I find a signal in 10 secs. With my bluetooth receiver, sometimes the damn thing wouldn't even connect. THANKS!!
I love this damn phone. Iphone killer
I'm glad it works for you

So i got it working with iguidance, kinda annoying though. The GpsGate (which is not free, any free alternatives?) puts an icon on the today screen, so i run gpsgate then iguidance, what is the benefit of running the AstroGPSLauncher instead of just running iGuidance itself? iGuidnace was a little "choppy" when i drove to work today. might try tomtom (no TTS) sadly and see if its better.

Try my MortScript, it automates the AstroGPSLauncher, GpsGate launch process, it also turns off the backlight timeout while iGuidance is running, and skips the warning screen for you.
Without the AstroGPSLauncher iGuidance will not see the GPS at all, unless you ran another program that started the GPS for you, AstroGPSLauncher starts your GPS radio for you, and keeps it alive.
Also check my FAQ for a link to a free GpsGate alternative, though I haven't tested to see if it works.
Tilt & TomTom
Has anybody have any problems with there Tilt phone after installing TomTom 6. ?
I tried your mortscript but wasnt working...put the shortcut in the program folder, installed mortscript but when i try and run it says script/programs/GPSLauncher/iGuidanceinternalGPSLa (its then cut off) not found. waiting for existance. storage card not initialized?

Tomtom 6 for windows mobile smartphone 5

Hello
I running now tomtom 5.2 on my WM smartphone 5 (Qtek 8500).
The problem is if I install tomtom 6 or higher I really need a touchscreen to select some things. Without touchscreen it is impossible to select for example other maps, gps settings etc..
1. Anybody know how to edit a system file of tomtom or something to make the up and down button usefull to select options and not to lower or higher audio volume ?? other usefull rebuilds to make it run on a WM 5 smartphone are handy for me.
2. Can the maps of tomtom 6 rewritten that they can run on tomtom 5 versions ?
3. Why tomtom don`t make version 6 WM smartphone compatible like tomtom v5.2 ?
try to use Fake Cursor or SPHelper
I'm running TTN6 (but using WM 6) and the only problem i had was pointing out the COM port for the BT GPS i'm using.
I've found the solution in ActiveSyncRemote display, which is a part of Windows Mobile Powertoys that you can download for free over here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...7AA-AB28-6A2B006EDFE9&displaylang=en#filelist
Most of the screens usually needing a touchscreen also react on the keypad (just play around a bit). 2 things you cannot do:
- scrolling through favorites and recent addresses; you have to type till the address is on top of the list and then select it.
- setting a time you want to arrive; just leave early...lol
Somehow i had major troubles getting fakecursor to work, so this was the best option for me.
Hope it helps!
I have a BenQ E72 which is WM 6 Standard and I cannot select the Com port in settings
The damned up/down moves the volume!
I tried the MS remote display power toy but it doesn't support WM6.
I tried Rasberry's Connect too but that wouldn't let me click on a com port either.
Any ideas anyone?
You could give Fake Cursor a try...just google in this forum. it's somewhere around here, including a detailed instruction how to install it.
SPHelper did the trick and now it's running fine...
Many thanks!

[Q] Moving map widget?

Does anyone know of a widget that will display a moving google map with my current location centered? There are a couple apps I've found that are close, they just don't update in realtime. The reason I ask is because I have my 7" galaxy tab mounted in my truck. I use a program called torque to add gauge widgets (coolant temp, boost pressure, rpm, etc) to my home screen and would like to have a moving map display as well. I understand this would be a battery hog,but the tablet is always plugged in. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.
This would be sick. Add a music and contacts widget and torque would be the perfect carputer front end. I'm sure its possible as it seems the plugins can be very powerful and already have access to map data.
There is an app called tablet talk that, I think, solves the Bluetooth phone call management problem.

Accessing Android device that has no physical buttons and executes custom app.

I have recently purchased an IQ Panel 2 (Android 5.1.1) home/office/etc. Alarm system.
I assumed I would have access to the full Android OS, not root access, just basic access like all phones and tablets. (this is NOT the case)
The Tablet/device starts with the power button and from there goes directly to the custom alarm software app.
There are NO physical buttons (other than the power button) that I can see on the board inside the case.
There is a USB port but apparently it is only for charging.
The device supports Bluetooth but only via the app and not the actual 'Bluetooth Settings' screen on Android and therefore I am unable to pair a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse.
I have the desire to add Tasker and a custom launcher such as NOVA launcher so that I can have even greater control over my Z-wave and Bluetooth devices as well as additional custom notifications etc.
A port scanner shows port 8883 open but I believe that might be for z-wave communication?
The device has expansion slots on the board. 2 are in use and a 3rd is open for a secondary image sensor and a 4th is for future expansion.
Any suggestions on how to proceed would be of immense help.
I hate the idea of returning this device because of this limitation.
I have spoke with the manufacturer Qolsys and they informed me the end-user is blocked from these features for obvious reasons.
There is a youtube video detailing everything about the device: Qolsys: IQ Panel 2 Technical Webinar (Can't post links yet)
Thanks in advance for any help.

Wondering?
I just got a Qolsys IQ Panel 2. I feel the same way. Were you able to root the Panel? Using the full Andriod opens the door for a better IQ Panel.

Could you also help me with this iq panel I recently got it and want full features
Update
No, unfortunately I was never able to get basic access or root access but I did accomplish the original features I wanted via an older Android phone on wifi only that I use in conjunction with the IQ Panel 2.
The secondary phone runs a few apps and sits in a separate room with the screen dimmed to near black/hardly visible screen brightness.
It performs the following functions:
Custom voice commands including disarming the IQ Panel on a weekday morning schedule at 7am and/or by talking to the Google Assistant via my personal phone or a family member's phone or a Google Assistant speaker of which we have several throughout the home.
Turning on the smart thermostat when the temperature in the home is above or below a certain temperature.
Opening the garage door via voice command and being alerted when it is open or left open as if it were a window or door sensor.
Setting voice profiles so when opening the garage door or disarming the IQ Panel only that person's voice works. My voice or my wife's but not guests or the kids voices control these functions.
Being able to have the alarm disarmed by my children's phone via Bluetooth but having the alarm disarmed notification go to email instead of text.
(Necessary because through the Alarm.com website limited settings.. my kids would be notified everytime we get home and since they don't live with us anymore that would be annoying to them daily to get texts but they still need to know the alarm had been disabled by the their Bluetooth phone proximity to the IQ Panel and email only when their phones are in proximity and disarm the alarm. Email solves this.
All of this could have been done with just the IQ Panel if we had basic access not even root but one older Android phone from the past that stays plugged in at all times solves the dilemma.
I do this by running the Autovoice app on the extra phone. Autovoice integrates with Google Assistant and between those two apps, Tasker app, the Alarm.com app, smart thermostat app, Auto-input app, and Autonotification app, Tasker send mail add-on plus a little time and setup it works flawlessly.
I believe this was less then $20 total for all apps.
Basically you can have the Autovoice app set predefined voice specific commands interact with the IQ Panel alarm.com app notifications and respond to those notifications with a predefined event.
My service is not monitored but to use the Bluetooth proximity alarm disarm feature built in to the IQ Panel 2 system you have to at least have basic service which I pay $14 a month to Geoarm.com. This also gives me the Alarm.com website service where I can set other rules that the alarm follows and the spare Android phone interacts with.
The Apps have widgets on the screen of the spare Android phone. If the IQ Panel 2 sends a notification via the app, the Autonotification app sees this and launches the Auto-input app which presses one of several widgets on the spare Android phone (as if I opened the Alarm.com app and pressed buttons/widgets myself)
It would have been nice to integrate this into just the IQ Panel 2 but about an hour of setup and configuration with an old phone on wifi only, the right apps and $40 ($20 for apps and $20 for a Google Assistant speaker) works too.
Hopefully this breakdown will help anyone with an IQ Panel 2.
Final thoughts:
I have 2 of these systems, one in my office and one at home. Since the office environment is not a family enviroment and a much more set schedule (closed at night etc.) None of this is necessary and the IQ Panel 2 works fine right out the box. With today's smart homes like mine with smart cameras, smart lighting, kids and pets with doors and windows opening at random times I think they should give us basic app installation rights on the IQ Panel 2 but..
I love this thing either way ?
I have tons of these alarm panels. I haven't tried to flash them, but assuredly it can be done.
My thoughts.
*The open port you have noticed is definitely not zwave, zwave doesn't use tcp/ip nor its ports of comm. That open port is likely a ssh or vpn to alarm.com or qolsys server for updates (tftp?)
*USB port. Have you tried using a OTG atapter? Doubt you will be able to put into debug mode for adb, but might see if you can connect with adb. Also think JTAG. But you could likely flash its firmwars the same way updates are pushed. Dust off your *nix box, run wireshark, may have to do a mitm to strip ssl, sniff out the server, intercept the update file, md5 checksums, spoof server on airgapped network, etc. But if they can update it, you can break into it.
I have been working on trying to figure out the Qolsis IQ panel. I found that it listens on two ports, 8883 and 12345.
8883 is MQTT however it requires a valid client certificate to connect which I'm trying to see if I can find.
12345 is a TCP websocket, you can connect to it with curl like curl -k https : / / 192.168.x.x:12345 and you will get a json stream of alarm events.
If you'd like, we have a thread on the Home Assistant forum where we are trying to figure this out too.
If you go to the home assistant community and search for qolsys you will find our post (I can't post links yet)

Request: How to launch TomTom navigation app in 3D mode?

I´m using an Android 10-based Headunit in my wife´s car and also one of these Android 10 AI Boxes in my car.
In both cars it bothers me that my prefered navigation app TomTom Navigation App does not launch in 3D View by default - it actually launches with a 2D Map zoomed all the way out until I actually plan a route. While I get the idea behind it I would prefer if the app would launch in 3D mode by default, even if no active routing is in progress.
I couldn´t find a setting within the app so I was wondering if there is a different way to achieve my goal, maybe with a Tasker shortcut?
I found several threads about this in the TomTom forums and it seems to be addressed with iOS/CarPlay but I couldn´t find an answer regarding the Android app.
Anyone? Is it just me who finds this annoying?
