it lets me move the item out of data off the internal storage to my sd card BUT then when i go to play the game it force closes what am i doing wrong? i thought could just move game to external sd but that didnt work maybe has to be in certain folder or something? some one help thanks
Hm... how exactly did you move the data to the sd card? Did you move the whole app or just the data to the sd card?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
i just moved what i found in data, thats what i mean i dont know exactly what im supposed to move and exactly where on the external sd
Did you use the in the rom included app?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Moving the apk from data only removed the executable, essentially uninstalling it and leaving the links, so the apps wont work. To move to SD go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications, then select the app and press the tab that says move to SD. You need to put the files back in data first now and you may even have to reinstall them.

If I (or anyone for that matter!) help you, dont be afraid to press THANKS!
im on a generic 2.1 and their is no move to sd option in manage apps

please delete all hidden folders on the sd card (they start with ".foldername")
of course make backup before.
you might need to redownload some apps then.
This is caused if you had apps in a previous version moved to sd.
how do i delete them if they are hidden???
thank you
The file explorer on the rom shows them or use root explorer. Or in windows set show all files (google how to show hidden folder on windows)

I am still gettin the same message that i dont have enough space on sd.
Should i format my sdcard?
Sent from my U20i using XDA App
First i would suggest to deinstall the apps which are already on sd. Then format sd card (make sure to only have 1 partition).
Then download from market and reinstall the apps. Then move to sd.
This is how i managed it.
(you can goto settings, applications, application administration and click on the sd tab and deinstall apps)

Hey,
Can someone suggest a descent app for moving apps/data/dalvik to sd-ext? I've been using s2e it did the job but there's an issue with ICS2 Final by jusada and I really like this rom.
I noticed that even apps moved to sd-ext, I could still use widgets which is cool, so any similar program for moving things to sd-ext and is compatible with CM7.2? I think apps2ext is not officialy supported by cyanogen so what's your proposal?
I suggest link2sd(search in market) it's free.
And you can move individual app/dex/lib etc to sd partition.(which can be ext[2|3|4] or fat).
It can clear all app caches, list system/user/SD card/link app/ sort with apk size,data....etc.

so if I press the move to sd for an individula app it sends it to sd or sd-ext cause I am using that and I think it moves them to sd. Maybe I wrong?
I am using link2SD and so far im not having any problems..and i think its better, and much easier to use than a2sdgui..

You might want to read app description.
it can move to SD card in froyo way or linking individual app to sd partition.
s2e or other script link /data/app directory (just like your pc shortcut) to sd partition.
link2sd allows you to control which app to move.
I prefer this way since I don't want some apps on sd partition.

I've read instructions but couldn't understand that linking means moving the files to sd-ext. So if I want to place them in sd-ext I choose Link and not move to SD, correct? And would be the same as s2e, right?
does links2sd works on stock rom and 4 GB EXT ?
11GB norm

you need to "create link". thats all. move one at a time or batch move. then reboot.
Sent from a phone with an app.
Just for clarification:
"Create link" in Link2SD means "move app files, app libraries and app dexes (if any) to sd-ext and create a link in /data/app (or anywhere the app originally came from) to sd-ext."
Linking in Linux/Android is the same as making a shortcut in Windows.

For Gameloft games have a look at this app and thread. You can also use androids built in 'Move to SD' option if you go to Settings - Applications - Desired Game.

Yeah, I use GL to SD and have moved 12gb of game data to my external SD card. Works great.
Install the app, hit menu and select move data. Select the app you want data moves for and run it. Then you can just run the game from the app or hit mount in the app, then menu and select exit and open the app from your home or app screens.

for the moment not possible! Maybe in the future someone will make a rom who supports that
Gl to sd card only moves files. Apps will not work later. For example, I moved Max Payne to external sd card, and then when I launched the game, it asked to download missing files. What we need over here is an app that will automatically rout to sd card when clicked.
I tried App2SD, Link2SD and GLtoSD and none worked except for breaking Google Play, the only solution i found was Directory Bind.

Thanks, will give it a try. Weird thing, i've spent like an hour trying to figure out why can't move apps to sd...
Well Directory Bind can't move Apps it only moves folders, so you can move all the SD data and some of the folders containing the Apps but when you move it you have to leave the original folder on internal memory because it makes it impossible to delete, so you just have to delete the contents.
Anyone tried "super mount".app made by lidroid
Would this work?
I opened the script file using notepad, would you just change where it says "external_sd" to "extSdCard" and it would bind the folder and allow games to access the data from the external SD?
Just asking because I'm not sure if this would work on the S3...
I know this is an age old question, but I figured I'd give it a shot. I was wondering what my best option was to get apps and/or their data onto my microsd card. I've tried the method with Directory Bind, but I wasn't to big a fan. Just looking for a point in the right direction, for the easiest/quickest/best method.(I have already rooted my phone, so rooting isn't an issue)
Also while I'm here what's the best method of free tethering, again with the rooted ability.
Same here! I've tried the foldermount method and using shortcuts with the root explorer in Rom manager to no avail. But, for someone with some knowhow, I've accidentally got it to work with Spotify. I don't know for the life of me what I have done, but between hours of using the above to methods, Spotify is now on my external Sd card. I can uninstall spotify, wipe data, cache, the whole nine yards and when I reinstall, boom, straight to my sd card. I can reformat my sd card, and when I install spotify, it will create a folder named Android/data/com.spotify.mobile.android.ui folder. on my sd card. All the songs i download goes in the same directory just like it did under sdcard0 on the internal memory. But now, I can't replicate this at all. I'm trying with zedge, but no luck. If I find anything, I'll post back to this thread.
I downloaded a couple of apps, but when i open ES file explorer i cant find the apps,it suppose to be in the download folder.I did check in the sd card0 and in the ext sdcard and no lock.

First time I tried with Directory Bind I was able to move the game file to the sd, but when opening the app it requires downloading the files, so it can't find them in the new Directory. The next time was short lived because I couldn't find files for most recent app

Doesn't titanimum backup allow this? I've never personally tried it but I thought I saw a move app to SD card option.
From what I understand this cant be done on JB.
