is there a zip to format the internal flash memory or just an easier way to do it? I'm selling my Gtab and I want to get rid of my personal stuff first.
Are you only wanting to wipe the personal data?
You should be able to access nvram or Clockwork mod (if you have it installed) by powering down your tablet, then holding the "up" volume button while pressing power on.
Once you're in, you should be able to move through the selections by using the up and down volume buttons and the "Home" button on the right side of the screen.
Look for erase or clear "user data". That should wipe your personal info while leaving whatever ROM you have installed.
If you are wanting to go back to the 'stock' ROM you might want to check out the "nvflash FULL restore using bekits image" in the development forum.

I should probably post this in the dev forum but I don't have enough posts. And I should probably search first but I'm in this panic mode of being cut off from having a phone so I'm terribly sorry if this has been covered elsewhere.
I was running CM7.0.0.RC4 and decided to upgrade to CM7.0.3 and since all the other updates have gone so extremely well I decide to do this while in my car on a drive.
So first thing I did was Nandroid backup.
Then I wiped the cache and the davlik cache because that's been my recipe for success. Not thinking I also wiped the data/system stuff. Then I installed the CM7 update from a zip file.
I didn't realize what I did until I booted the thing and came up on a screen with none of my icons on it.
So I went into the reboot recovery screen and tried to do a Nandroid recovery but when I did that I just get the HTC screen staring back at me they pops up before anything else and it never seems to go anywhere else. I had to pull the battery to reboot it.
Am I doing the backup wrong? Does the Nandroid ISO have all my settings, programs, etc on it? If it doesn't I might as well do a fresh start.
When you do a Nandroid restore it should restore your data and system partitions as well (including your apps and settings).
When you do the restore, does it give you an error?
First off thank you for the reply.
I didn't see an error so I just did another restore to check.
1 error message pops up and it says
"sd-ext.img not found. Skipping restor of /sd-ext"
When I reboot I get the same thing, it hangs on HTC screen and never goes beyond that.
It's ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.0.1

This is normal if you don't have an ext partition on your SD card (for apps2sd or simple2ext support).

It's certainly strange. My suggestion is this:
1) Boot into Clockworkmod
2) Wipe data/factory reset
3) Wipe cache partition
4) Advanced > Wipe dalvik cache
5) Partitions menu > format system
6) Install Cyanogenmod zip from sdcard
7) Install Google Apps zip from sdcard
8) Nandroid > Advanced restore > Restore data (don't restore the other things)
9) Reboot
Good luck.
Oh that's brilliant. I'll try that.
I've done a install of the CM7 and teh google tools and it started downloading all the apps that I had stored on the SD card so the only think I think I lost was some settings and my text messages but I'll try that anyway just to see if it will work. I have all my settings just the way I want them.
So I tried that and it didn't seem to do any better. None of my text messages were saved. I had to redownload all my apps again.
Now my SD card is almost full which doesn't make a whole lot of sense unless somehow the old versions of the programs are still on the SD card in which case if they are how to I clear that space up?
The other thing is while reinstalling some of the apps failed and I cleared the notification list because it was too long to sort through them all but now I can't figure out which apps weren't installed correctly. Can I bring up that error list again?

When you make Nandroid backups, it saves everything on your SD card under the clockworkmod folder. Each backup is saved by the date (GMT) when you did the backup. On a smaller SD card (like the one the phone comes with) even a few of those backups can eat up your SD card space quickly, so you should just go in and delete the ones you don't need from that folder.
When you did the Nandroid backup and Nandroid restore, did you go into ROM Manager to get to Clockworkmod? If so, you should try doing it the proper way -- turn the phone off completely, then use volume down + power to get to Clockworkmod. In general I would avoid using ROM Manager on an S-ON device like the Aria.
Also make sure the USB cable is not plugged in. it makes clockwork act crazy.

I've been doing the restore from the Clockwordmod bootloader menu. Turns out I made a backup of ADW settings and the desktop settings so I'm right back to where I was before the install just in a more round about way.
I am using the SD card that came with it but I'm thinking I might go get a larger one now. Is there any easy way to get all my apps onto the new card? Will just coping the content work?

If your current SD card doesn't have an ext partition on it (i.e., you didn't repartition it), then you can simply copy the entire contents over from the old card to the new card. It's as simple as that.
Hi
How i can enable the ext4 and swap partition in my sd card? any application?
then swapon works?
Thanks
You mean this?
Installation:
Power down your device.
Power on device holding power button and both volume keys simultaneously.
Upon power up you will see the birds logo and 'enter recovery' text in the top left corner of the screen.
Use the volume keys to step through the menu, power to select and back. (there is bug in clockwork when you press volume keys it jumps 2 steps; to jump one step press and hold volume and then press power to select)
Select the "advanced->Partition SD Card" item, next select size for your Apps2SD partition (1024MB recommended), next select 0 as size of swap partition. (Remember that this will delete all data on your SD card, so make backup of SD card if you need !!!)
After the partitioning will be done select the "reboot system now" item.
Using USB cable connection or SD card reader copy yourcustomrom.zip to root folder of SD card.
Power down your device.
Power on device holding power button and both volume keys simultaneously.
Select the "backup and restore->Backup" item to make a backup of the current firmware in case something goes wrong. The backed up ROM should be located in: /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/date&time/
Select the "wipe data/factory reset->Yes – delete all user data” to clear old stuff.
Select the "install zip from sdcard->choose zip from sdcard" item and select yourcustomrom.zip
After flashing will be done select the "reboot system now" item. First boot may take a few minutes.
Thanks!!!!

I know they were having issues with CWM and extSD. So saving to internal and moving is probably your best option. I'm not getting that error, and I've backed up and restored nandroids from the extSD.
Well, i was trying to have more space with deleting things with sd maid, well, i accidentaly deleted some things in "data" carpet, then, my phone didn't open configs an some otherthing, which i make a normal reset(no factory reset) then it got stuck ininitializing android, and i decided to make a factory reset,BUT, the device dont detect internal storage
Now its on a softlock
Should i restore the ROM by SD?

Copy ur another custom rom into sd card and flash it via recovery
nothing serious...install twrp recovery.... and install mi 8 custom rom.. then...after installing no need to boot up... just press vol up + power key... you will see so many options..simply select 'download mode'.... now simply flash stock rom via qfil.
Good solution, thanks

Recover data information
This is a adoptable storage guide for samsung stock rom with a modified plugin from Root Essentials.
1. Format data in TWRP
2. Wipe everyhting in TWRP (including external sdcard)
3. Boot to BL with Vol down + home button and power button
4. Flash Samsung Firmware over Odin (uncheck reboot)
5. Reboot to bootloader from bootoader, otherwise twrp will not flash (vol down + home button and power button)
6. Press reset on odin and uncheck reboot again
7. Select twrp md5 on ap flash and flash it
8. Force restart on bootlaoder with Vol down + home button and power button (check step 9 before you do 8)
9. Right after the dispaly goes black instantly press Vol up + home button and power button to get into TWRP
10. Flash magisk and after this flash asplugin
11. reboot
12. After you set everyhting up you should see the question of adoptable storage on the left upper side of display
13. You do not need to install Root Essentials
Should work for any other samsung smartphone but I don't know.
Have fun

Followed the guide to a T, everything seems to work and I've got Oreo, etc.
When I select to format as Internal storage it still doesn't appear as space within the Samsung Storage manager and it appears as an SD card, this doesn't seem to be right to me. Some apps seem to then install onto Storage and some seem to only install onto internal, any ideas?

You don't need to install root essentials anyway if you use the original patch that this plugin was taken from.

You also don't need to install Magisk if you install Encryption Disable Patch.
After this procedure I am now trying to use ADB to format sd card half for external half for internal storage.
However, now after typing "sm list-disks" all I get is "Killed", instead of the disk name. What's up with that?
It was working before this whole process, just that the "sm partition" command did not actually format anything.
I tried this also with "su" enabled through Magisk, it did not help, still getting "Killed"

If you can,
1. Format sd card
2. Download root essentials
3. Format it half and half from there
Hope that helped.:good:
This works well.... but: Different apps are crashing now. I tried everything... delete cach, re-install apps, wike cache in TWRP, re-flash the entire phone (then root, then adoptable storage). Now I have a new sd card in.... a sandisk extrem pro which is opptimized for apps (iops), so this card is an a2 card (4000 iops read, 2000 iops write) which schould be fast enough.... but apps are still crashing.
Any idea? 16 GB is to low to run every app on the phone, I need the adoptable storage.
No one an idea? Am I the only one with this problem?
i dont understand what is this for. adoptable storage? so it mean, you can move android apps data to external sd card? correct me if im wrong, but i can also do that on stock rom, just go to developer option and scroll to the bottom part of dev option, and you will see option to move apps to exteranal sd.
but, again, correct me if im wrong for the function of adoptable storage itself

Maybe if you clicked the link in the 3rd post?
This adoptable storage workaround is not working anymore.

It seems that Samsung has changed something in the system so the free space is not correct. Most of the sd card is empty but the systems says the storage is nearly full.
