The USB jig may get to download mode and is worth a try as you have voided the warranty on the phone .

Well that is the effect when u can't download it from the galaxy S II thread cause of the school network banning it for malware.
If you are gonna google up a mirror make sure it's the right deal

Hello all,
i've a strange problem with a galaxy s2 9100g
It was my mistake...i know that....i've flashed a ics cyanogenmod ICS on a 2.3.6 android with cwm.
And now I've a big problem with this phone....
I can't enter the download mode any more! 3 button trick doesn't work! I can only see a mobile phone a warning with a exclamation mark and a computer.
But the strange is that the windows pc is still detecting the phone as samsung mobile device. And ODIN shows a yellow device on com0.
Any Idea what I can do? How is it possible that ODIN detects the phone without download mode?
regards

That mode you describe above where I bolded and underlined is a forced download mode, which is why Odin shows a connection. Just flash an i9100G firmware and you should be fine.

I don't have an i9100G, so I don't make a habit to read up on ROMs and how-to's for that model. I'd check the I9100G development sub-section if I were you.

Actually, the Q&A is meant for all the i9100 models and their sub-variants. The i9100G sub-forum is meant for development only. Read the stickies in there, there's one stating that.
Hello Friends,
I am in desperate need of your help.
I am a moderate user and I know how to stuffs about Rooting and flashing custom ROMs.
Today I tried to flash CM9 stable ROM for International Galaxy S2 I9100. I did it using temporary CWM.zip file and everything went just fine till the installation of ROM. But when I clicked Wipe Data, suddenly phone went off and now it doesn't start.
I tried everything, tried to enter into Download mode and Recovery mode but all was in vain.
Please help me what should I do now? And is my phone ever going to come back to life?

I was using,
PDA: I9100XWLPT
CSC: I9100NEELP4

Do you know what kernal you had at the time, for the phone to go off during a wipe sounds like the brick bug but I didn't think it was present in LPT. Can other members clarify please. Does your phone charge when plugged into charger?

I'm sorry but that's your fault.
It's being said 1 million times already, that wiping your data in CWM while running stock 4.0.4 ROM with a stock kernel will BRICK your phone.
Your inability to read might have left your phone bricked.
Read through the forum next time, ask questions if you don't understand anything and I can assure you will be luckier next time.

Yes there are many threads in this section and on xda portal warning you about the brick bug...
Almost all 4.0.4 have a brick bug... moreover it is caused when we do a data wipe. I believe you have bricked your device... sorry for that

that's why I blamed you for this. You did not read or ask before wiping but was only guessing.
This is a sticky thread under General section warning everyone about the buck bug. Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756242
I and many others have also warned people about this bug but the unfortunate thing is that most of ask these kind of questions after the problem has occurred.

As far as I know all 4.0.4 ROMS have MMC_CAP_ERASE enabled, so in case of having bad chip and using wipe under temporary CWM floating around you will brick your phone. Although seems the problem is only in touch version of CWM. More detailed information can be found in 1st guide in my signature where Phil was talking with Entropy512.

Sorry dude
You might have to send your phone to device center for repairs but if you are out of warranty or wants to try to Fix things yourself, then the advise/instructions below is for you:
-boot your phone with usb jig, if you can get to download mode, then proceed to next step
-Visit this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841099
Good luck

Hi guys,
Thanks for all your replies.
I already figured it out that I have bricked my phone. But I was under impression that Data wipe with CM9 ROMs is not dangerous. At the time of failure I had already installed CM9.
Guess now I'll have to send the phone to Service center.
One thing I want to ask, "If the phone is hard bricked, is there any chance of them knowing that I had installed a custom ROM?"
If they can't then it might help me since my phone is still under 1 year manufacturer warranty.
Please reply and Thank you for your replies. The latest adventure of mine turned out to be painful one!!

I don't think so. since you can't boot into either recovery or download mode.
Even if you have an increased binary counter, it will be cleared once your device is forced with a usb jig to boot into download mode.

So if you can't enter into download or recovery mode there is no way to find out if i have used any custom ROM or rooted the phone?

Either through Odin (i think) or pull the battery out. That is assuming that entering download mode is all you have done

Sir would do well to read through some of the guides (at least the highlights on the first few posts)
Chainfire wrote the following:
and pretty much all you need to know is
Instructions - ODIN (long)
- Follow these instructions to the letter. Do not touch any buttons or checkboxes that are not listed below to touch!
- Unzip the attached CF-Root-xxx-vX.X.zip
- (USB) Disconnect your phone from your computer
- Start ODIN
- Click the PDA button, and select CF-Root-xxx-vX.X.tar
- Put your phone in download mode
- (USB) Connect the phone to your computer
- Make sure repartition is NOT checked
- Click the START button
- Wait for the phone to reboot
- Done (if it took you more than 30 seconds, you need practise!)
Click to collapse
Then it's a matter of finding a kernel with a TAR that you're comfortable with and doing the above with that kernel rather than CF-Root-xxx-vX.X.tar although CF-Root is a fine stock insecure (rooted) kernel.
Personally, I rather like the Siyah kernel for which you can pick up the TAR file (you use TAR files with Odin) here
Consider donating a small amount to Gok if you have sufficient disposable income (same applies to anything you use long-term, IMHO).
You're welcome to PM me but be aware that I may take a while to respond (my wife is in hospt...)
Good luck and play carefully!

Or someone who is nervous about breaking their expensive phone, knows that they have voided their warranty and hoped to find someone kind enough to hold their hand.
What I don't understand,@Theunderlying,is the motivation behind your post. If you don't wish to aid, why not just stay silent and avoid diminishing the reputation of the community. I hope it's not some reactionary neurosis because no one ever helped you early on forcing you to learn yourself with the aid of what has been discussed in the forums and that you don't like to see others degrading the purity of the forums now that you are better informed.

This is actually worse than what @Theunderlying posted.
The thing is, OP would not respond to useful questions and answers in his other thread, while he kept asking the same question here.
I guessed that was what pissed @Theunderlying off.
Personally i believe the OP is a little impatient, bit in a hurry and he probably doesn't need that because if anything bad should happen to his phone, he will only have himself to blame
