Hi all,
I had installed a long time the cyanogem mod mincm6, now in version 3.01, but now i have a problem.
When i go to manage application, for example "adobe reader" with 5.54MB, and click in button "move to sd-card" show me the message error "Failed to move application. There is not enough storage left".
But i have 1.4GB of the extend type ext2 partitioned.
And no way wich i have 1.4GB of the application.
Have any application that manager this partition ?
PS: I dont have application app2sd, i use the native app2sd of the cyanogem.
PS2: I find this in FAQ, but i have 8.33GB free in sd card, and no way that have used 1.4GB in application in ext 2 partition...
I CAN'T MOVE APPS TO SD, WHY?
Can't move apps to SD?? -> Format SD Card or delete hidden folders on SD Card
Make sure you have 'Allow application moving' checked in settings>cyanogenmod settings>application settings

I think that anyone responsee because have a many many post about this. Whell, i repartitioned (erased the ext partition, formated, and copied all files back to sdcard). I have now 9.73GB free in SDCARD.
But i have moved only 20MB and show me same message "Failed to move application. There is not enough storage left".
Have any file controlled for the app2sd, have any folder or something that causing this error ?
Ty a lot for any response.

Have you enabald the setting 4 it in settings_cyanogen mod set ings_application?

Yeah, setting is enabled in cyanogen....
link2sd will works without partitioning? If will, i will kick app2sd, hehehehe, but i nedd app2sd works... its more prudent

First its in the faq, anyway delete ext2 partition not needed.
Second delete hidden folders on sdcard with root explorer (make backup) or format enitrely. Reboot
Some apps will need to be reinstalled.

nop .... Nothing.... Same error.....
Guys,
I think that the app2sd is moving the files to a partition that he created or thought or whatever, Not have explanation to it move less than 20MB and already say that the disk is full (9.73GB free ) .
Well, am I computer programmer and i programer in C / C + + too, i am developing for Android, and digging in to the internet to see if he has C code that "program", to see where is the problem.
The App2sd is not saving in SD. This is so real, that I searched on the SD the app that I sent to SD , "adobe", and not finding this "adobe" in anywhere.
Maybe some configuration file for app2sd, or whatever ... I found that app2sd uses /sd-ext, but not found anything with the root explorer, and windows not show the internal memory.
Also not found the link it to SD, alias, where is it? Anyone know? or anyone know how the shortcuts from the drawer? So I thought misinformation.
Guys, sorry for the outburst, but I want to see if I fix this as soon as I have many applications, very heavy, and to almost no memory.
PS: I Founded some information..... the froyo a2sd save in a folder named .android_secure, that only be showed in windows or another OS, the rootexplorer can't find file sin this folder. Well, after delete again this folder and others, i moved exactly 24MB and, after, the error was showed once again. This folder is not a partition, its only a single folder in a ocean of bytes, rsssss

In another thread (don't remember which), someone mentioned that you have to start a program at least once before attempting to move apps to sd.
Worked for me

Att,

Perhaps there's a limit to how much space you can use on the sd-card and if so, maybe you can find answers/help in another thread to how to make more space available (devs forum i guess)
Ty again.... This is exactly what i need.... Know how much space i have in 9.73GB for app2sd and where i can configure this....
But i not found in anywhere in the internet... i stay searching....
att,
moacir jr.
I'm having the same problem. To help you analyze it, install Titanium Backup Root. When you open the app you see the space left in:
-system
-data
-app2sd sd
-sd
I never understood why there is a difference between "app2sd" and everything else on the sd. And I don't know how to make the "app2sd" part bigger.
Ty Samuel,
Well,
System ROM: 22.1 MB Free
Internal: 113 MB Free
SD Card: 10.2 GB Free
But i think that same that app2sd uses Internal memory for cache or Ram memory, that have around 20 MB free, have space to move one application of the 3MB...
In this case, i need how much app2sd uses to move application on SD card.
Its very very stranger...
At,
Moacir Jr.
Huh that's strange.
I uninstalled Titianium Backup a while ago, I only knew that in v2.5 I always noticed that difference.
Well in v3.03 I don't see the app2sd part anymore. I have the same parts as you.
I'll test a little bit more and I'll let you know when I discover why "sd" and "app2sd" is not the same.
Well,
Guys, since as not working for me the a2sd with cyanogen, have any troble if i install and use link2sd with cyanogen 3.03 ? I question why i used lin2sd wich android 2.1 from SE, and works just fine....
Question responded: Link2sd Works fine. If any1 have any problem with a2sd, and can't solve, simple, change to link2sd.

I am not aware of any apps + data to SD. I must ask though, why are you so keen to move stuff off /data?
Remember that there is no advantage in having lots of free /data space, so you're better making use of it. If you have so many apps that you need the space, then look at apps2sd and dalvik2cache or dalvik2sd, since that stores the dalvik cache onto the SD card too.
Also, what method are you using? You should be using the EXT method rather than the froyo method, as that stores all apps on the SD card, and doesn't listen to the developer's preference about storage.
I don't know what apps2sd+ is that you talk about though, as I don't recognise the term. Do you mean apps2sd + dalvik or something like that?

Yeah sorry mate its probably my inexperience on all things android showing here....
Basically Im using the EXT method, 0 swap, 512 ext3 and rest Fat32 i think? coupled with the sam lu version of app2sd and tbh its fine its just I received the latest update for it which now shows which apps are 'phone only' so only really came to light recently....
I currently only have 11 apps 'on SD' with 37 on 'phone only' (maybe 55 apps in total) and wondered if this was normal ? or have I set something up wrong ? Phone memory shows 104.58mb free from 165.75mb....
So approx 1 in 4 apps are being moved to sd shall we say (please dont shoot me other the maths either lol)...surely im going run out space within the next 100 apps if 50 apps to date has used approx 60mb (cant see it happening though as i dont see myself installing that many) or is the majority of the used data used for other processes ?
Just trying to get my head around the whole thing thats all....and was wondering if you could realistically have 200+ apps as mentioned in multiple threads.
And as for the apps2sd+ maybe that was an error in the way i read/interpreted a thread so ignore it....
Irrespective everything works fine, was just curious thats all
Hold on... can you check, as I think your apps are all being held on the SD card just now.
Using a file browser, go to /system/sd and check out the app folder. Compare the contents with /data/app and see if it matches.
Remember the dalvik cache and data use up space, so dalvik2cache or dalvik 2 sd should be next on your list if you want hundreds of apps.
I think you are just getting told apps are on phone when they are on SD, since android can't tell when you are using this apps2sd method or not

I have just flashed FoydVillain 1.5 but have since restored all apps and got back to a point where I was when I subbed this post...blagged !
Ive gone back to the drawing board and revisited the 'newbie guide to rooting' thread and doubled checked the apps2sd instructions, I want to run the gscript check to see if its set up right but cant find the check.zip file thats mentioned in the guide (says its attached at bottom?! but I cant locate it) where can I get it from otherwise?

New here so please tell me if this is in the wrong forum.
I have a Acer Liquid Metal on 2.3.6. I have a custom ROM T&L. It came preinstalled with Link2SD. I like to try lots of apps and this problem seems to be haunting me. I reset my phone on the 26th Dec as it was so annoying. I think I have set up Link2SD correctly. I have a 4gb SD with 1gb as ext2. Please see the screen shots attached.
If I have Link2SD, why do I still have a problem with low internal storage?? I have had to remove some app's but the internal storage always gets lower.
Have I set Link2SD up correctly? How can I resolve this problem?
If you need anything further please let me know.
Thanks,
Matt

Hey all of you are getting confuse, this is the solution and it was already mention but maybe you get confuse... Using link2sd...link all your apps as normal, probably after a couple installations you will get low memory, but how is that possible... well..
Just download ANDROID TERMINAL EMULATOR from Market and install it(you must be ROOTED to use it).
Now just TYPE in Terminal:
su
a2sd cachesdreset
After this your device will reboot and you will get a lot of space on your phone... probably link2sd should add this feature on new version but IF not this will works ( i believe that some info stay on phone and link2sd can't see it but phone will keep showing it even if that is garbage or already move to the 2nd partition on your phone just do does command and that is... after that you will love link2sd and will never go back or use app2sd....

Hi Guys,
I own Samsung Galaxy Y Duos S6102. Its internal storage is approximately 180Mb. I have rooted the phone and increased my storage to 1Gb using Link2SD.
Now, i have installed around 25 apps and i link them all using Create Link and checking on all 3 checkboxes. Still, my internal storage is getting low. Now i cannot install any apps as the internal storage has become less than 25Mb
When i see the storage info from Link2SD it shows 650Mb free out of the 1Gb partition that i created.
I tried the solution posted above but could not do it. If it helps please be more descriptive
Thank You

an easy way to gain at least 40 mb of internal storage on this phone:
open dialler, dial *#9900#
and then select 'copy to sd card'
results vary but it did help me to regain about 40 mb the first time i tried it
Use ram booster as well as delete all the cache and try to install mount2sd better than link to sd I hope it will help you

The big difference between what you're doing and what I'm doing is..
1) Your trick is totally manual. Means, you will have to move each application one by one to the SDCard & also from what you're moving apps to sdcard, will leave "some" data (esp dalvik cache) of that app in actual device memory. So you won't have the full advantage of moving an app. You will have some saturation point at some time.. like even if all of your apps were moved to SDcard and you have about ~60 apps installed, but each app will leave some data to your device memory. & That's why at some point your device memory will get full.
While in mine (using S2E), I have created a partition which totally works like a built-in memory. Whatever I install, ALL gets automatically installed in that partition. which actually saves a lot more actual device memory.
2) You can not move Widget supporting app to the SDCard. It won't work.
While in mine, Everything in that 1GB partition can work even as a Widgets too. Which again means totally functioning as a device memory.
3) I also observed that, when I connect my SGA with computer through USB Mass Storage (Which actually gives more transfer speeds than adb push commands), all my apps which saved in 1GB partition stay active completely. So it takes a lot less time while scanning SDCard for media after removing from USB mass storage.

this my favorite tricks for get more space internal memory, i installed 70 apps, and free memory is 41mb,. Simple and stable guys....
How to configure :
1- after installing a rom configure link2sd and choose link auto
2- install EVERY app on internal memory and after link, if some goes to sdcard move it to internal and after that you can create a link
3- sometimes i go to link2sd>menu button>more: relink all apk files, relink all lib files, link dalvik cache and clean dalvik cache
after you link a apk if want to see the real free space you'll need to reboot the phone... Link2sd is a great app i think thats better than int2ext scripts but you need to learn how to use correctly, with time you get it !!
Tried...but tired of this link2sd stuff...
I don't like at all link2sd. Cronmod Script is better :good:
i like link 2 sd..

Rhievaldo do you have to always install in internal first?
It put it on internal then link it and clear the space with link2sd. If you don't use many apps etc you should not even bother with link2sd in my opinion even tho its super easy to setup following instructions.

Yes, otherwise some apps with native App2SD support will be linked with android native A2SD method and uses more internal space.
If you put them to internal they will be moved with link2sd to sdext partition of sdcard after the app is installed.
link2SD
I have a Galaxy Ace GT5839i which is rooted. I installed link2SD and have moved many of my apps to the second SD partition, but now several of the apps which require to write to the SD fail to work. For example the Sygic navigation app fails with "SD card access denied", when I try to open files in Dropbox I get "Storage full or unavailable", when I try to save a file from Ted, a simple text editor, I get "Can't use this folder because it isn't writeable". I have looked at the permissions of most files and subfolders in the SD both using file managers and from the command line (ls -l filename) and they appear to be writeable (most have rwxrwxrwx or rwxrwxr-x). How can I regain write functionality for my apps?
Chris
link2sd
I have used Link2sd for ages with different ROMs (currently CM-11 nightly jenkins) but now Link2sd only half works. dex files are initially linked but are named incorrectly and are regenerated on boot so if you delete them they come back to haunt you next time. If you don't delete them you run out of space fast. I tried making links to the links manually and it sort of worked but was fiddly as hell and in the end I found a new option.
Mounts2SD.
I admit it can lag the phone slightly and reboots are only successful every 1 in 5 times but eventually it will turn on and it will work and the space advantages of using it mean you can more or less install what you like.
I would like to say that what I said earlier about lag and reboots was correct at the time but I was running a very unstable rom but now with Mr Mardon's latest cm11 rom, which is far superior with a customised kernel, I have found that with Mounts2SD the phone boots up reliably now, and when I changed to a better i/o scheduler (zen) and badass controller there is hardly any discernible lag at all.
So a serious thumbs up for Mount2SD, which is excellent, thumbs down for Link2sd, which used to be good. It reminds me of back in the day when you could still use s2e, except this actually works without flopping over unexpectedly.
Mount2sd is like a magic wand waved over your phone while Link2sd is like a bad workman that sits chatting to you while drinking your tea all day then only gets half the job done, charges you double, then leaves a pile of bricks on your driveway.

Hello, well, I'm sorry if this thread shouldn't be here, I'm a new user =D. But well, I ask help please, I hope to find an answer.
See, I've rooted my phone, but I can't move the apps to SD. I partitioned the SD for using Link2SD and it recognize the partition ext2, but can't create the links for apps. I fixed the problem the SD for writing (I can copy, cute and paste from internal storage to SD and inverse? - Sorry, my english is basic and don't have enough megabytes for using an English-Spanish dictionary =D-). So, I think that LG made a good job locking the system. I found some apps for trying to solve the problem, but I think the system protects of they (like Force2SD, Final App2SD, etc.) because don't let me install them, it says that the device don't have enough memory, but does let me install other apps heavier, like facebook. So, the system doesn't give permissions for move apps although the device is rooted. For now, I read that my only salvation is installing a Custom ROM. But there is no ROM for my device until now . Someone knows another option for help me?

I found some apps for trying to solve the problem, but I think the system protects of they (like Force2SD, Final App2SD, etc.) because don't let me install them, it says that the device don't have enough memory, but does let me install other apps heavier, like facebook. So, the system doesn't give permissions for move apps although the device is rooted. For now, I read that my only salvation is installing a Custom ROM. But there is no ROM for my device until now . Someone knows another option for help me?

I just figured it out, phone is rooted, card is partitioned, you can still only move very few apps to the card, but you can "link" them to the card, it is the option below the move to sd button. I went from having 400MB free to 750MB with the free app, and now have 1.2GB with the paid version. I am amazed!
