Followed a guide on youtube with over 100k Views. The guy didn't even mention to not install gingerbread on a Bell Atrix. My phone is now bricked.
It goes past the loading screen then has a black screen with a red flashing LED.
Tried following the Bell Deodox kit but it says that my phone is not plugged in or what ever. Is there something I can do to make the computer recognize the phone? It does not even show on My Computer.
Thank you, I would really like to use my phone soon...

Follow this guide EXACTLY as it reads.
BE WARNED-flashing the french sbf means no more bell sbf as we do not have an sbf from bell. That is the only drawback. The french sbf works identically to the bell software you are running just faster and less bloat.
Hope that helps.
Thank you, but would I still be able to use my services from Bell? I dont want a useless toy if I cannot use the phone on it

It will function exactly as it did before (you will have to enter your bell apn settings again to get data). It will just run faster and have no Bell bloatware apps on it.
Downside is that because you are flashing something OTHER than the Bell sbf, TECHNICALLY warranty is void.
Its better off anyways. The Bell sbf is old and slow. The french sbf is newer and much faster.
As long as I can use my phone again, I would be so happy.

If you can get into RSD mode (power up phone and hold volume up button until "Starting RSD Protocol" shows), then you can flash the french sbf with RSD Lite and bring it back to life (fully operational).

Also, Do I want to download this one?
Code:
Download 2.1.1 SBF if you are going to Flash this.
OLYEM 2.1.1 SBF -> Here
It says int he guide, just sketchy about the part where it says "If you are going to flash this". Is this the right file or no?

Just flash an sbf, telstra, or the unnamed one from France, if you need to go back to stock (gameloft purchases/bell update/roaming issues), you can use my script to restore your bell files.
(The reason it was unable to connect, is that you need usb debugging enabled on the phone, the firmware you flashed 1) didn't work, so nothing was setup, including adb access, and 2) was an sbf, wiping out everything on the phone, so the only way to get back is to flash a sbf.)
Cheers!
Should I have any roaming issues if I use France when I'm with Bell? :S
there are literally NO drawbacks from flashing this sbf. no roaming issues. faster data as well.
Thank you, just wanted to know since I see other people on the forum with roaming issues due to French.

You shouldn't have any roaming issues. I didn't. Either way, the roaming issues can easily be fixed by replacing a config file on your phone. It's not technically roaming anyways, the phone just THINKS it's roaming because the Bell info isn't in the file.
You have the same phone I have and I flashed the French sbf over the Stock Bell one with no issues. I just had to manually add the Bell APN settings in so I would get data on Bell. It's easy and takes but 5 minutes. It's even easier if you use the APN Backup app from the market to do it.
Upside of the French U4_2.1.1 sbf over the stock Bell one.
Faster UI with no lagging.
Faster uploads (Bell has HSUPA disabled, it is ENABLED on the french sbf)
No Bell bloatware apps
Downsides:
TECHNICALLY it voids the warranty with Bell as it's not bell software
Do it, trust me. Bell is horrible with their updates anyways and U4_2.1.1 is much better. If you want to go one step further, deodex it and then flash Greyblur 2.1 after flashing the French sbf and then you can flash any theme you fine here as it swaps the framework over to the AT&T version which is what 90% of the development here is for.
You can find the french 2.2.1 download link as well as all the info you need in this thread. It has the info to download, flash, restore your Bell APN, deodex, download and flash Greyblur, etc.

To be honest. I was hesitant to flash Greyblur for the longest time and when I finally did, I couldn't believe how much faster it was than any of the stock sbf's I had tried (Bell stock, Telstra, French sbf).
When I put the GreyBlur on my Atrix, the Menu is Empty, like no weather, no news updates like bell had, is that a glitch?

You mean no news app or weather app? That is normal. Those were bloat apps and Greyblur comes bloat-free. If I remember correctly there is a bloatware-restorer floating around here somewhere and you can get them back. Also, if you did a Titanium Backup before flashing you can restore them from it.

Hi
I am having roaming Issues after that SBF, other did not have it.. so be aware that you might get it too..
I am stil not able to run the scripts from HFHimself.
UPDATE:
Thanks to HFhimself.. I got 2.1.1 back to Bell Stock and no more roaming..
Question: can I flash GreyBlur on top of the Bell Stock or I really need 2.1.1

I finally got everything done correctly! Greyblurrrred haha! Better battery life and faster response makes this the best custom rom out there for the Atrix. I've seen some videos of Gingerbread 2.3 and it still looks sluggish. I think I'm keeping this Greyblur for a while, friggin love it.

Hi guys, posting for my wife here. She has an Atrix, running Cherry Pi 0.7 currently (unlocked bootloader, romracer recovery, etc). The touchscreen is completely borked, doing all kinds of weird things. I know it's a hardware issue, i have tried flashing 3 different roms, 4 different keyboards, and multiple wipe/reinstalls of roms. Always does the same stuff with the touchscreen - not responding to input, random multiple presses of qqqqqqqq when trying to type, soft buttons not working, etc.
i want to return the phone to complete stock so i can send it in to Motorola to be either repaired or exchanged. I cannot find any insrructions for this for an AT&T Atrix. How can i get back to stock os, factory recovery, and locked bootloader like when it was new? I tried search, but cant find exactly what im looking for. Can someone help me out, please? Thanks.
its been said before that once you're unlocked, you're always unlocked. Flash a fruitcake for a stock setting.

If you haven't updated to OTA 2.3.4, you can SBF flash 2.2.2 and it will restore your phone to default.
Note: It will remain unlocked, but it won't show the "Unlocked" text during boot.
This way you might get lucky and they fix it without noticing that it's unlocked.
Good luck.

guess that's a little moot in this case since he's sending it back to motorola anyways lol
The other suggestion is to sbf flash the 2.3.4 sbf, still may risk hard bricking since it's not really confirmed if it's safe since most of the hard bricks have from sbfing backwards.

Lol hes returning back to Moto anyways ha ha! I'll try it out, I fastbooted to Gingerbread (via Kenn) So I never did the OTA.... so I guess I am safe.
Per this post, you can tell if you've flashed OTA 2.3.4. If it has been flashed already, then DO NOT downgrade to a official 2.2.2 build.

Its safe. I have done it. U can sbf the 2.3.4 (4.5.91) over 2.3.4 (4.5.91) even after ota. I used the pudding sbf and did not brick my phone. Even still, same rules apply, your risk.

Yeah but doesn't using the pudding 2.3.4 (4.5.91) still makes you have the "Unlocked" thing on the boot setting? which is what the OP wants to avoid so if he takes it to like AT&T if they see it and see Unlocked they will void the warranty, I am pretty sure the retail story wont extract his phone to see if the fuse it sparked and unlocked.
Thanks for the replies, guys. I basically need to get back to 2.3.4 with no "unlocked" logo on boot. I'm pretty sure they won't go and check bootloader status for touchscreen issues (I hope).
If I sbf the factory 4.5.91 will it remove the unlock logo and restore webtop, etc?
If I flash the fruitcake version, does that get rid of the unlock logo?
I guess that's my main concern so I can return for repair, just getting it back to appear normal. Thanks again.

No. Only if you haven't upgraded via ota update. If you did, then there is no way of removing "unlocked" yet.

Just a thought... did you ever back up your PDS partition?
Touchscreen issues sometimes are due to pds issues. If you have made a backup, wouldn't be a bad idea to try restoring it to see if that fixes your issue.
If you didn't back it up, take a look at this thread with a pds file that helped others.

Probably a long shot but, I used to have very similar issues with other phones in the past when I've had a screen protector on for awhile and it gets scratched up. Maybe try remove the screen protector if there is one and see what happens.
If it is going back for repair. why not intentionally hard brick it? The first thing they will do is the full blown factory flash, erasing all evidence.
If you do this, make certain you give them a story that somehow describes both the actual problem and the bricked condition (else they might think the un-bricking fixed it and not catch the other issue.
EDIT: Maybe not all evidence, the fuse that was blown when you unlocked a 2.3.4 might be a real hardware type fuse and never be cleared. Don't know.
My device is doing this exact same thing and I'm in the same position you are in. I never backed up the PDS partition, but a backup using the image in the linked thread did not solve the problem. Nor did flashing multiple new ROMs.
I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software problem. It problem seems to go away if you lock the screen a few times, but then later reapers.
Sorry to hijack this thread, but does anyone know if replacing the digitizer will fix this problem? Since I'm in New Zealand this would be an economic solution as shipping to and from the US is pricey.

Ok, I have the same issue as you, I was able to fix the "unlocked" logo ( I havn't taken it back to AT&T yet for warranty, but I will update when I do). So this is what I did, when I upgraded to 4.5.91 I fastbooted it instead of OTA or flashing it, I also unlocked my bootloader by using pudding. Assuming if you did the same, then will be able to flash the official 4.5.91 via SBF ( I wasnt going to try 1.8.3 because I didn't want to risk the brick). I got the 4.5.91 sbf from this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125944 ... My phone is still rooted, but the "unlocked" logo is now gone and I flashed fruitcakes so It looks completly stocked now! I hope this helps, I dont think you will fool motorola if you send it in for repairs, but I am pretty sure you can get by with that if you have to return it to the store for warranty reasons! Good luck : )

I just saw this. I ended up using the stock 2.3.4 sbf, and then doing a factory reset in the privacy menu. Now has all the stock info in the "about phone" section. I'll let you all know how it goes. Thanks for the suggestions.
Just got back from AT&T! they said it was a software issue! They gave me the warranty and gave me a refurbished Atrix with 1.8.3, stock froyo on it! I'll stay OTA until CM7 comes out of pre-beta then see how to root it after OTA : )
Hi, sorry about this. I just got my Atrix today from the US, unlocked, but it was from AT&T, with Froyo 2.2.2, baseband N_01.77.15P, build number OLYFR_U4_1.8.3 and I have a few questions because I am seriously going crazy trying to figure this out alone (it's a whole lotta complicated than my Milestone...)
I'm sorry if this would be a lot! I am totally new to this Atrix
1.) I tried the OTA update for the official Gingerbread but it was unsuccessful. Basically, I just rooted the phone then tried the OTA update and it didn't push through. Should I try again? I am thinking of downloading the file via laptop and transferring it then trying again. But I have seen some issues that their phones were bricked...
2.) Since this is an AT&T Atrix, should I only flash AT&T radio images or can I use the other images? (Southeast Asia or International) I don't know why but I only have one bar in the house, and a lot of times, none. Can I flash another radio image even though it is from AT&T? Will it improve my signal? I've read other threads here but one guy said that it should still be AT&T regardless of where you use it..so I am confused.
3.) I want to put CM7 instead to my Atrix since it is what I used with my Milestone. Should I first flash CM7 before I flash the radio image? Or the other way around? I figured out that this thread..well I just have to follow it yes? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257574
Thank you so much in advanced for those who would be helping me out.
Happy Holidays!
If your phone is only SIM unlocked, you'll need to bootloader unlock it to do the following. You'll also need to flash RomRacer's CWM recovery.
1) try use Fruit Cake if you want to upgrade to 2.3.4: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009. Or if you prefer CM7, after BL unlock and install recovery, you can directly go ahead to flash CM7.
2) You can try to flash a newer AT&T radio, see the Fruit Cake post above, or the CM7 stable build post. My experience is that AT&T radio can be used in other countries as long as it's GSM/WCDMA and the frequencies are covered
3) flashing CM7 image won't affect the radio, they're in two different partitions and are independent of each other.
Good luck.
Hi, thanks for the reply. OK, I think shall go with the Fruit Cake but...how do I flash these FruitCakes via CWM?

I'm in the Philippines as well, I use CM7 Feb 20 weekly. 100.00R baseband I think it came from Orange FR, but it works great.
does your 3G work with your atrix phone? or do you need to get a contract from smart or globe? i have used my phone in the Philippines with no problem except having 3G or any data service but everything else works fine
I recently purchased a rooted, and I believe an unlocked (says unlocked on startup screen) atrix for my mom.
Here's what I can tell you about it:
Android version 2.3.7
Baseband N_01.77.36P
Mod Version RedPill Hybrid V1
Build number GWk74
Now I have a few issues. The font on here is WAY too small for my mom, I'm looking for some sort of stock rom or a way to return to stock. I'm not an atrix owner, I own an unrooted SGS2. I've rooted phones before but I know nothing about this one.
Can anyone help me please with these two things? Sorry if I seem noobish, but I'd like her to have the best experience she can. And I really don't know much about these phones.
Thanks!
Oh and also, there's no google apps on the phone so I can't download another launcher :/

I ran across that earlier. I'm under the impression that using fruit cakes is where I want to head with this, but I'm not really sure where to get started. I didn't root this phone so I have absolutely no idea what version it was on before. I'm assuming it has an unlocked bootloader because it says unlocked when it's booting up.
I really don't want to brick a phone that my mom just paid for. Not to mention we got a multimedia dock with it which is unuseable with this rom

Yes fruitcakes is what you'll need to return to stock rom and can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009 2.36 is the latest gingerbread version released

I appreciate your help so far, I apologize I've never really used an atrix. I apologze if I ask any completely dumb questions.
So using the 2.3.6 system and boot, I'm assuming. Will these return me to stock motoblur or just stock gingerbread?
After this, will I be able to get updates if there are any?
Also, I don't really see total directions on how to flash these. I assume I can use cwm from rom manager, or do I need some other recovery?
Edit: none of the links work for those files.
whatever you do, once you use fruitcake to get to stock 2.3.4 or 2.3.6 you should probably freeze Updater using titanium backup to prevent your mom from clicking 'ok' and install any future official OTA updates.

Yes the 2.36 system and boot will install stock Atrix gingerbread with motoblur on your device. Unfortunately you won't be able to update as they will likely brick your phone. Fruitcakes are the safest way to upgrade
Rom Manager's recovery is what I use just make sure you have the latest version and backup your current rom
Forgot the links were down on the fruitcakes thread let me see if I have the files somewhere

You guys have no idea what lifesavers you are. I can't get to the market because the phone has no google apps, how do I know if I have the latest rom manager? I'm assuming it will just automatically install the latest version of cwm?
I eagerly await your fruitcake files. Thankyou!
Honestly.. I wouldn't fruitcake.
The easiest thing for you to do would be to just install a custom GB ROM. She won't have all the sluggish bloatware, and it'll be almost identical to stock. Easier, too..
Just my opinion.
I'd really rather have her on stock.
However, can you recommend a rom in case I can't find these fruitcake files? I need something stable that's going to work with the hd multimedia dock.

Personally, I don't use the GB ROMs anymore (they use entirely too many resources for my liking lol), but I've had good experiences with Aura, Alien, and Ninja.
GingerMod looks pretty solid as well - I tested it for a few minutes but had to go back to a CM based MOD due to preference.
I know the ones I've listed above all have functionality with the HDMI cable, so I assume they work with the multimedia dock, as well. I don't own one, so I've never been able to test/been interested in that functionality.
If I were in your situation, I'd download a bunch of different GB ROMs, test them all, see if any suit all of her needs - if none do, then go for stock

Saw this the other day, might be worth a look in to: [Batch/Script] MFBSR - Moto-Fastboot: Stock Restore
This looks like good information, I think I can work with this. For fear of sounding stupid, I'm sorry Ive never done this stuff with an atrix.
Can you please give me a quick step by step for this:
1. Download MFBSR.
2. Boot into fastboot.
3. Run the script.
4. Your done!
I downloaded the script, I just have no idea how to boot into fastboot and run it. I don't have any of the stuff on my computer for this phone since I wasn't the one that rooted it. I'm going to read through the whole thread, but any help you could give would be great.
EDIT: Ooh because my rom is 2.3.7 some say I shouldn't flash this and I need a fruitcake instead, which I can't find a dang download for.
ATT 4.5.140 - 2.3.6
2.3.6 System and Boot
That's the fruitcake I need if anyone knows of a working download link.
fastboot (from briefmobile's instructions)
Put your device into Fastboot mode:
– Turn off your device.
– Hold down the power button and downward volume button until you see “Fastboot” on your screen
– Push the upward volume button

This looks like good information, I think I can work with this. For fear of sounding stupid, I'm sorry Ive never done this stuff with an atrix.
Can you please give me a quick step by step for this:
1. Download MFBSR.
2. Boot into fastboot.
3. Run the script.

If you turn the phone off, and hold the VOL down key while it's powering back on (the boot screen (moto logo with unlocked in top left corner)), you should see "fastboot" pop up underneath the "unlocked" - hit VOL up key to select fastboot - have phone connected with USB.
If you pull up a cmd prompt and nav. to the dir. where the fastboot files are (I'm assuming they came with the script), type "fastboot devices" and see if it pulls anything. You should see an id for the atrix if it's connected.

Is it safe to do this when I'm on redpill 2.3.7? Seems like downgrading might be a bad idea?
I'm not sure about going from RedPill straight to stock 2.3.4, but I know that many ROMs use different versions of android, and there are no repercussions for jumping from, say, 2.3.7 to 2.3.4. If you're worried, you could jump down to a custom ROM that uses that same version of android, and then run the script.
Alright, that seems like an alright idea. Going to go for it and I will get back to you guys. Thankyou again for the help. Messing with a phone that doesn't belong to me is rather scary.
OK I'm in need of dire help. I own a Motorola Photon for SPRINT. It started with the fact i was using jokersax CM9, but had no signal. Tried all the fixes but nothing prevailed, so i decided to flash back to stock. I flashed and somehow I started getting "failed to boot 2/3/4". Eventually i came into dire need for it to get past the boot screen . So eventually tried the method of flashing U.S. Cellular SBF which eventually worked. Eventually got past the activation screen (go into wireless setting through menu button and change it to GSM) but now I can't make calls, text, 3G unlike the people I heard this method from, and I'm wondering how can I do that or how can i go back to sprint SBF
U.S. GSM towers are blocked at the hardware level I believe.

When you flashed back to Sprint stock 2.3.4 from CM9, did you format the system data? If not you will have problems going past the boot screen. I learned that the hard way.
Try the following to see if this works.
1) Use RSD Lite to flash back to Sprint stock 2.3.4 SBF
2) Turn off phone
3) Hold Power+Vol Down buttons and use Vol Down to scroll through options to "Android Recovery" and press Vol Up button
4) You'll get a triangle warning icon in the middle. Press and hold both Vol Up + Vol Down button to access stock recovery.
5) Select "format system data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition"
6) After that is done, select "reboot phone"
7) You should be able to boot up like factory reset
8) Make sure your phone registers with Sprint during the initial setup.
9) PROFIT!!!
Let me know if this works out for you.
I just tried to go back to stock through RSD Lite and it failed at "waiting for re-enumeration" and on the phone it says "sec_exception: febe, 4e, 4e"
How many times did you try this? Did you make sure before you started flashing via RSD Lite that you put the phone in "RSD Protocol support"?
Try watching this video to flash back to RSD Lite. Skip to 3:30 for RSD Lite part and watch from there. Its very step by step on how to go back to stock.

If you flashed the USCC 2.3.5 sbf and not zip file, you have effectively locked your boot oader and no amount of sbfing will help.
You won't be able to activate it for sprint because of that.

I understood that which why if I couldn't change it back to sprint, how can i make it to where I can atleast make calls and text or use internet (3g)?
You need to flash photon radio. That will help, I think.

Can you explain in more depth, with what radio and how?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1573727
Graze through this thread to see if it is going anywhere. I used a variation of this to unlock my Electrify that shipped with 2.3.5 and a locked bootloader. If they got the method working you should be able to use it to unlock your bootloader and get back to a sprint rom.

You cannot go back with any Photon sbf, but theoretically, you can get your phone service back, with flashing Photon radio through recovery (maybe bootstrap recovery, if you cannot be unlocked), try it - http://d-h.st/lS0
I don't understand why the OP flashed the USCC 2.3.5 update when he has a Sprint phone. Sounds like it was too much desperation and with a simple look on the XDA forums the problem would have been solved.
I offered the OP a few steps to try out but has yet to get back to me. Oh well I guess he missed my suggestion or ignored it. Either way good luck with that.

I did, posted 20 mins after you did with my results, and it kinda was out of desperation that I did it since all i got was a load of sec_exemptions and failed flashes that I went with the method I did. But thank you for helping with those steps, I'm currently following the thread that can probably fix my problem without flashing

I think the problem (at least it was for me, and given the number of people posting that they accidentally flashed it, there has to be a reason) is that one of the threads with info on restoring back to locked/stock ROM says something like 'flash the attached bootloader.' The correct bootloader is *linked* inside a list of links, and the horrible, horrible 2.3.5 bootloader of doom is actually *attached* to the message with the warning about not using on a photon being up a little higher in the thread.
In my case, having done the restore a time or two on the phone already, I thought I knew what I was doing, so I just jumped right into the steps this time, and grabbed the attached (wrong) bootloader, only to discover that I had now bricked the phone.
I did a ton of reading here yesterday, and it seems the consensus so far is that these phones are bricked until someone can get their hands on an SBF of the 2.3.5 Sprint release that is supposed to be coming out in a soak test this week along with a similarly locked bootloader. I just ended up buying a new G Nexus from a guy on craigslist that had them off-contract for $250. Gazelle is buying photons for about $125, so if I can get it fixed in the next week or so (or try for a hardware replacement from Sprint), I'll only be out $125 for an cross-grade to a more hack-friendly phone with ICS. Not the worst mistake ever.
Ok, I am thouroghly lost when it comes to the dangers of bricking this phone as I come from a samsung epic in which you can basically flash another phones rom and it won't brick.
So I have some questions. TIA
1. First of all this is for the sprint photon right? What's all this talk about a sim card slot? Isn't that gsm only?
2. From what I'm gathering 2.3.5 electrify is a big no-no
3. Some people I'm reading say that since the 2.3.5 update the bootloader has yet to be unlocked? Let's assume my photon will come with the most up to date sprint rom so is it unlockable?

1. Yes, Well its possible to use gsm on the Photon since its now possible unlike the at&t version (Atrix) that is GSM only, so No/ Sorta
2. It is. .but its that method you go to when you have no where else to go and you'll make a contract to the devil to get this phone to go past the boot screen
3. As far as I know yes, but I'm not sure

1. Sim card slot is for non-USA gsm service as this is a world phone. Can't use at&t or T-Mobile.
2. Yes, very much so. Stay away.
3. If you buy a photon, it may or may not come with 2.3.5 out of the box. I don't think 2.3.5 is official yet, but I may be wrong. I'm not stock so I haven't been paying attention. If it doesn't, just don't accept the update and you're ok. Root, freeze updater with titanium backup, and no worries. At least until ics is official, and then you may need 2.3.5 for that. I don't know exactly how all that works, but I'm sure someone here does. If it does come with 2.3.5, no unlocked bootloader, but it's still rootable.

So...I've been a longtime lurker around here since the cupcake days and am doing my first post.
After having Motorola throw me under the bus with the last soak test and Sprint looking the other way pretending nothing happened, I decided to flash the KDDI radio to my locked Photon on the 2.3.5 OTA soak. By following the instructions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1815200 , I was able to get the GSM radio unlocked with no issues. Everything works, including the CDMA radios, but for some reason I can only connect to Verizon in CDMA mode. I have a working T-Mobile sim for testing purposes, but my main account is still with Sprint until I can ditch them. I have already flashed the 12124 PRL back on the phone, but it still won't connect to Sprint. So here is the question: Is there any way to force the phone back on Sprint without loosing the unlocked GSM radio. I can easily flip between Verizon/ATT/T-Mobile from the mobile networks menu so this should be possible.
I know I'm trying to have my cake and eat it too, but it would be nice to not feel completely screwed over with this phone. Great hardware, half-assed software and no support.
P.S. A huge thank you to peetr and everyone else who has refused to let this phone die.

Sorry not answering your question I just have another one.
are you talking about these instructions:
On a locked Photon 4G, been locked for quite a while (SOB's!!):
Flashed the full sbf: 1FF-sunfire-user-2.3.5-4.5.1A_SUN_USC_19.0-19-release-keys-signed-USC-US.sbf
Flashed the unbrick: 2.3.5_45.4.13ota_unbrick.sbf
Rooted with Photon Torpedo
Installed the MOTODX2 bootstrap
Installed Peetr's rom: HybridGBv20locked.zip (Was bootlooping, had to do a factory reset after this part)
Took two reboots before it showed up as the Japanese radio, and if it matters, in between the first and second reboot, I tried to install the KDDI zip from bootstrap twice, both failed. After that reboot, baseband ver went from unknown to N_02.29.04P.

My carrier is switching from CDMA(Sprint) to GSM(T-mo) it would be great to switch the phone to GSM I just thought it could not be done
with a locked bootloader.
Yes, those are the same instructions I followed. Just two things to remember: If you ever get stuck in a bootloop, do a factory reset from the stock recovery (not bootstrap). Also, flash the KDDI zip from bootstrap a few times before and after flashing peetr's ROM. Once your baseband (visible in phone settings) changes from unknown to N_02.29.04P you are good to go.
I still haven't gotten Sprint to work again, but I'm not really missing it. The edge speeds on T-Mobile are faster than the "premium data" that I pay $80 for. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Does 2.3.5 have ##programming menu by chance? Also, when it tries to connect to Verizon, is it roaming at all?
Sent from my sunfire using xda premium
I have not been able to enter any of the ## programming codes. When I do switch to CDMA the roaming triangle will appear and I can dial out. However, after a few rings, a recording comes on that says "Welcome to Verizon, please wait while we transfer you to an operator..."
I also called Sprint to reactivate the phone, but they can't even see it on the network. They referred me to a "repair center" and they were more interested in selling me a new phone than fixing the old one. I was able to get service back by flashing the stock 2.3.5 blur ROM, but I loose Sprint whenever I go back to peetr's ROM. If I can't get Sprint service back on peetr's locked ROM I'll just have to suck up the etf and head for a better network. There's no way in hell that I'm spending the next 9 months on blur.

As far as I know, flashing the US Cellular SBF is what exposes some loophole that allows you to apply the KDDI radio. That stock rom that you linked is only good for taking your phone back to (almost) complete stock 2.3.5. However, I have found that after reverting to stock 2.3.5 the phone radio will not react the same way to flashing peetr's hybrid rom and you will not have access to the Sprint network.
So let this be a warning: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO UNLOCK GSM unless you have no intentions of using Sprint with with anything but the stock 2.3.5 blurred rom.
I don't consider myself a developer in any way (I'm a hardware person), but it seems like the only way to completely reset the phone back to stock would be an official 2.3.5 Photon SBF. Unfortunately, Motorola hasn't released that file as far as I can tell. I have a few more tricks up my sleeve, but I feel like a rat on a sinking ship.
Update: The ship just sank. My computer no longer sees the phone in RSD mode. Time to get a Straight Talk sim and wait for the Nexus 4.

If you're locked and give this a shot, you can go back to stock Sprint, I've had to do it at one point, after I soft bricked with the de-blur script, peetr_ posted instructions on how to do it.
1. RSD the USC sbf
2. Root with Photon Torpedo
3. Install bootstrap apk
4. Bootstrap flash the Stock Photon 4.5.1A-1_SUN-254_13.zip
5. RSD the 2.3.5_45.4.13ota_unbrick.sbf
This put my photon back to the way it came out of the box....or so close I couldn't tell the difference, and it worked fine on Sprint, think I had to re-activate it if I remember right.

I got that to work once, but I could only use Sprint on the stock rom. I lost the whole radio as soon as I flashed peetr's rom again. So I've come to the conclusion that you can use Sprint again, but only if you intend to stay on the stock blured rom. Without an official 2.3.5 SBF, there is no way to undo all of the radio/firmware changes that occur when the USC sbf is flashed.

Hmm, that may explain why I couldn't roam GSM/UTMS at all, I never tried it before I did the restore, but I couldn't roam out of the US at all with a local sim card. I can pop a sim in no problem now and it works fine. After the restore I was using the Slim Photon locked rom.

Another question, I noticed in the original GSM thread there is a download of apns-conf.zip did you have to flash this as well as the radio?
Just curious, it seems to me the ROM should already have the apn's.
No. The T-Mobile APN was already there along with Simple mobile.
