Hello all,
I have been flashing a number of ROMs for a while now, and I decided to settle for EWJET ZeamEx V010ex temporarily as it is beautifully well rounded Stable aand has all the features working i.e. Camera, GPS...etc without FCs.
So I had been using EWJET for 2 weeks, when one day I picked it up to check my Whatsapp messages. It was really slow and laggy, which happens sometimes no biggie. Then it got slowwer and sllooowwer and super sluggish. (slow frame rate and you can see the vertical lines as the screen changes) And finally froze...Completely. Waited for a bit with no response then removed batt. Put batt back in, Nothing. plugged in, nothing. I was sad... very very sad as I have got so attached to this thing. With all these excellent Devs and their ROMs in development .
Anywhooo, now a few days later. (I had the battery out ever since it died) I put it back in and tried for the heck of it and guess what it Vibrated! the way it does when you turn it on. It was stuck in a boot loop though. Hit it with PC companion. back to 2.1 stock. flashed a couple of ROMS. Trip's froyo and Iris. was running fine!
BUT it happened a few times already where it dies like it did before with no response what so ever. I have to take out the batt for a lil over a few mins (hard reset). then it responds. Sometimes it goes all the way and loads fine and other it's just stuck in a boot loop and I have to either wipe everything and stock it. Mind you I'm not doing anything crazy on the phone. either texting, browsing..etc
Could it be the undervolting for the EWJET ROM? doesn't make sense but maybe. I did stock it a few times already though.
Sorry for the long post wanted to include as much info as could be helpful.
Any ideas? Any one?
I'm really not ready to give up this phone!
Thanks in advance!
just flash back to stock and exchange it for a new one with your warrenty

Yeah I want to do that but wont be able to for at least a couple of months as I am away from home. So was hoping I can remedy the problem temporarily. Maybe someone had similar issues.
As for getting the phone wet, Negative. It happened out of no where. I started working again n been using it perfectly. Today, it worked the whole day fine then at night I received a call. after I was done I hit end and it Froze there. power button would turn the screen on and off but nothing else. took out the batt and its been dead ever since. I'll check n see if any of my friends might have gotten it wet while using it though.
Anyone have similar issues?
Sounds like a faulty phone to me, when my phone turns itself off and doesn't want to turn on i take the battery out/in and this always solves the problem ._.
you could have a proximity sensor issue. if you get a chance to charge your battery, I recommend you take off your screen protector, sounds weird, but it might help

Thanks for the tip. I'm actually not using a screen protector. Never liked the feel of them.
It's dead now and not even responding to the charger.
Oh well, seems like I'll have to wait a couple of months to see if i can get it fixed/replaced. Dang guess I'm gonna pull my W850i from the darkness temporarily. Hahaha
Thanks for the help all.
it has a stock screen protector, look REALLY close at the corner! :-D use a razor or knife to take it off, TRUST me, you wont scratch it, it is COMPLETELY scratch resistant!

try wall charger, usb charger on computer, wall usb converter, and if all else fails, download flashtools, and in the'drivers' folder, there is 'Gordons Gate drivers' install that on your computer and the usb should work.

Nope, Still no response from phone.
I don't know about the screen protector though. I see it. but I don't feel comfortable removing it. And it seems like I wouldn't be able to put it back.

Title says it all folks lol. I almost fully submerged my poor Eris, and to my suprise, almost all was well. My only problem is that my Eris thinks that there are headphones plugged into it when there isn't thus rendering my phone silent in everything the speaker would play. Now fortunately for me, under the cyanogenmod settings there was an option in the sound section to always play certain things on the speaker, an override if you will. This fixes my problem for notifications, calls and alarms. Still, I was wondering if there was a way to permanently overide the fooled headphone jack completely so I didn't have to use speaker phone on calls to hear anything and so I can play music and videos again. Any help would be terrific. Thanks in advance!

Pull the battery and bury the phone in a bowl of rice (uncooked) for a couple of days. It should help remove any moisture left.
Sent from my CELB ERIS using XDA App
The rice probably won't do anything at this point. You're screwed. The one thing you don't do when you drop your phone in the water is turn it on. If you ever get your phone that wet you immediately pull the battery and let it dry.
Basically your warranty/ everything is voided so I suggest you try opening the phone out and using compressed air to blow out anything that may be trapped inside.
I didn't use rice although I know you can. I actually did what you said Hungry Man. Pulled the battery and let it sit out in the sun for a couple hours. When I first turned it on after that, I noticed the headphone symbol popping up and disappearing a few times, and then it just stuck. Do either of you know more about what cyanogenmod does to overide the headphones? My guess is that if It can be done with a few sounds, it can be done with all of them.
I do know my warranty is voided. That's fine tho. I have the monthly insurance that covers water damage, but the phone is fine, so I might as well open it up. Ill need to fond a tiny star key though lol.

Simular Issue
I can relate, I recently rooted my Eris and have been toying around with some roms. Somewhere along the way my phone started to think that headphones are constantly plugged in. Extremly frustrating! Have tried new roms, re-flashing, etc. but nothing helps. May need to try that rom you've been using to compensate. Any suggestions would be great!

Has anyone had the problem that their Galaxy S2 randomly turns itself off when it's in their pocket.
It's happening quite often now, twice today, several times yesterday.
Take the phone out of my pocket and it's got a blackscreen that doesn't respond to being woken.
Holding the power buttons makes it reboot and all is fine again.
At first I thought it was because of the position of the power/wake button being pressed while in my pocket, but I've tried recreating this and it's not easy to do.
I am running Widgetlocker, so not sure if this is causing an issue.
It's an O2 branded phone, not rooted.
Cheers
I had it happen to me once, the first day I got it, but it hasn't happened since.
The only thing I can think of was that the phone was very very warm in my pocket, so I guessed that it might have overheated.
Yes, I did wonder if it was a heat problem. But it would have been sat there doing nothing so shouldn't have got too hot.

Hi,
Happened to me few times, its not something very wrong with the phone.. What i did and after that I have no such reboots:
opens the back cover, cleaned the battery contact point (electric points) on battery and phone, put it back tightly, closed the back cover so there is not gap (not even a very small gap) between cover and phone..
after this never have reboots even having the phone in my pocket. hope this helps

I've seen this happen on other phones. The original Palm Pre needed a foam spacer in the second hardware rev. Maybe a piece of paper or two between the battery and the cover to make better contact. I'm happy saving 30 grams (and a better phone period) but this does chalk up a point to the Sensation build quality.
It's been okay so far today after cleaning the battery contacts and reseating the battery. But it has spent most of the day sat on my desk at work. So hardly a good test.
any update ? mine turned off again today. :-(
Mine has been doing this randomly as well. Its very annoying.

glad to hear that it's not just me. i really hope that it doesn't turn off in the middle of the night otherwise ...
It's been fine now for the last 3 days after cleaning the battery terminals and refitting the battery.
It looks like the battery was losing connection briefly while in my pocket causing it to turn off.

I also have the same issue. It's really hard to replicate the error and some days it doesn't happen. For some guy in this forum it turned out to be a faulty RAM... I hope this isn't the issue for us too!
A good way to check this is by enabling USB debugging, connecting to a pc and run "adb logcat" in the command console... then you wait for the phone to crash and post the logs here, hoping that someone will spot the error for you.
Sent from my disappointing GT - I9100
yup mine does too. some days 4 or 5 times some days not at all.
Have you tried giving the battery contacts and clean.
It might also be worth wedging a bit of paper folded up at the top of the battery to slightly increase the pressure on the terminals.
Mine only ever did it while the phone was in my pocket so a bit difficult connecting by usb.

This seems to be a widget locker problem for me. It opens with the home button even when locked does it not?
Just guessing.
Mine happened the last 2 nights, when i wake up I have to switch it on,
I have widget locker.
But i'm gonna uninstall it and see if it resolves it.
I had this going on but in my case I soon figured out that it was overheating from something that I'm guesssing had the phone at 100% although it was idle. Never did figure out what it was as a logcat showed nothing after the fact but that the phone was very hot to the touch if caught just after shutdown. That had been on villian rom which I liked but without being able to see a smoking gun in a logcat and never catching an app or system process running amok I ended up changing roms and the problem was gone. It should be noted that several people have reported doing a system reset and ridding themselves of this problem.
So my bro's had an Atrix for a little over a year.
Some time back, it started exhibiting this behaviour where the whole screen would just become totally unresponsive.
Searching around, I see issues where people lose responsiveness with a fraction of their touch screen, or the entire screen starts spazzing out with all these presses and swipe actions the user did not enter...
...but his just seems to have these periods. He'll be stuck at the lock screen from anywhere between 1 minute and a whole day... I can usually get it to work with random rapidfire hardware commands... and when it works, it works completely for a certain amount of time.
Thing is, that's only temporary, and the touch-screen ends up going back to an unresponsive state.
Any clue what's going on, or how to resolve it?
What's the software is he currently on? Is the phone bootloader unlocked and/or rooted?

You know what's (not so) funny about this? All of the things that you think are causing this sound really complicated. Is my phone corrupt? hardware defective?? etc etc.
You know what I found it caused this behavior after numerous factory resets and weeks of research and tweaks to my phone?
The f-ing goddam screen protector.
Yep, that's right. The over-priced, highly (over)rated $20 iShields brand one. I know for a fact that was the cause, after I figured it out and started talking to other atrix owners (minus the liar fanboys that lurk in every forum saying "works fine for me derp!" whenever someone dares to suggest a product has flaws).
Problem immediately went away, forever. I've gone naked since May /11 without a single scratch. IMO screen protectors on gorilla glass is for people who wear a seat belt in a car wash. I'm not sure, but I suspect the problem happens when the screen protector starts to age, and/or when it gets really warm. I also suspect it's a problem with certain phones and the types of touchscreens on those phones not playing nice with screen protectors. Started happening on mine after just one month.

Just to offer some backstory, this started a couple months ago back when he just had the stock AT&T rom (2.3.X or 2.2.X I think? I can't recall clearly) During one of it's "working" periods (last week), I unlocked his bootloader and flashed it with CM9...
Probably won't mean much since the problem existed before I unlocked+CM9'ed it, but while it's not freaking out, I can give you some numbers:
• Model Number: MB860
• Android Version: 4.0.3
• Baseband Version: N_01.77.15P

ah ok in that case, I have nothing else, I'm only good for ranting. GL!
My touchscreen randomly does these freak outs and stops working:
Usually for me it is caused when the phone is really warm (like on the charger in the car) or when my hands are sweaty (also could just be the the phone is warm in this case as well)
Once it's done with its freak out, I turn off the screen (my power button still works) and clean off the screen with my shirt, wipe the sweat off my hands and turn it back on...everything is then fine.
Also, with my old phone (dell streak) if I kept the phone in my pocket with the screen facing towards my leg it would exhibit this behavior (probably again a case of the screen becoming really warm) but if I kept it screen out it was fine.
I have the same exact problem and have gone back to my Captivate because I couldn't figure it out.

News on this? Here's my experience.
Any news on this, guys? I'm going insane. Here's my experience: I used to get these touchscreen-stops now and then but then they started getting more and more often. What I do to make them stop for a while is a clean restore, that is wiping boot, system, preinstall, cache, userdata with fastboot before installing a new ROM or restoring from backup. Whenever I do that, it comes back to life. If I flash a new ROM without all those wipes, it doesn't work. What sucks so bad is that, even though that fixes the problem, it's only temporary. It starts again after a few weeks. There is NO way this is hardware, and there's also NO way we can't find a solution for this!!!! Come on, guys!!! HELP US OUT, PLEASE!!!!!!!
Have you tried the raindrop fix? I was having similar problems and it worked for me.

I'm having the exact same issue. It sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Anywhere from one minute to a whole day, everything you described exactly. No screen protector. I wiped it once and it worked temporarily, but it's back to the old sporadic unresponsiveness again.
I'm still not convinced that it isn't a hardware issue. I'm going to buy a T5 Torx Screwdriver and open her up and see if one of the connections is loose. Has anyone else done this?
I'll post tomorrow night with my results.
Here is a handy trick to determine if your digitizer it going out.
1. Find an appliance like a cable set top box, AV receiver or computer for example
2. Lay your phone face down in the warm air that emits from devices like this.
3. Leave it alone for about 10 to 15 minutes.
4.Pick your phone up and perform some finger swipe heavy tasks.
If you notice its a lot more sensitive like you remember when you first got it then you have a digitizer that is going bad. If nothing changes then its most likely software related.
Okay so I took it apart (removed the motherboard, disconnected the radio and 3 cables, then put everything back together. It's not fixed 100% but it's a lot more consistent than it was. youtube dot com/watch?v=kxuF_73YIIY

Could be the ribbon behind the digitizer, if its loose or moves it can kill all response to touch. You may have to replace your digitizer to fix this.

I would also suspect the digitizer. I replaced mine for $45 (frame pre attached attached highly recommended).
The connections are very small, so there is much that can go wrong while doing this kind of brain surgery and the ribbons will rip easily.

Could you elaborate more about what this screen is?
If you had it you would know what I'm talking about for sure.
If you were just asking in general. It all appears to be a screen that gives you an option to go into download mode after your phones hardware resets. Phone boots into it.
I got a black Demigod screen on my old phone Friday. It was the proverbial straw on a phone that was rebooting itself daily - I exchanged it on the weekend.
The black screen was, I believe, for a kernel panic. I got the same 3 options: Download mode, reboot to normal and something else...
Does your phone get poor battery life. Does it make noise when you squeeze it? I wonder if all these issues are related. You should have your phone replaced. My phone does not give me any of the problems people are talking about

They definitely know more. No doubt about it. At least we know one thing. I got it on stock while others got it on a ROM. So I'd assume that it's a hardware issue or an issue that's buried in the software. See, I just covered all the bases. Lol

Now it seems alright even though I had rebooted the phone prior to the Demigod screen to try and resolve these issues.
well after almost a year of abusive flashing testing flashing testing and so forth my i717 has decided it no longer wants to boot, be plugged in or generally do anything other then vibrate lol
this was not a rom problem as i wasnt flashing anything *just making that clear* it was simply my phone giving up.

battery out + plugged in usb/wall = vibrate bootloop

if im lucky enough to get into download mode a few seconds pass and screen blanks then you guessed it = vibrate bootloop

I'm in the same boat with mine right now. It went out over the weekend. I've had this issue before though and traced it back to a faulty power button causing it to stick and bootloop.
Tearing the phone down and messing with the microbutton on the main board has gotten me to boot back up but its only a matter of time until its going to fully go out. There's been a few posts I've found regarding this issue in our forum as well as the S2 forum.
Try and see if messing with the button helps, its worked for me the past 3 times this has happened to me.

flicking didnt work, slightly hitting didnt work, smashing it on my desk a few times didnt work lol *ok i didnt smash it on the desk, but i made sure the phone knew the desk was there to get more solid of a hit into that power button
frustrating, im going to bed.
Man Jamie sorry I feel your pain! Maybe check kijiji for a used or broken one then repair it? Or maybe send tours to mobiletechvideos. Not sure.

Sell your 2 broken phones on eBay. Maybe you'll get a hundred bucks or more each. Then buy another used for around $250.

well after almost a year of abusive flashing testing flashing testing and so forth my i717 has decided it no longer wants to boot, be plugged in or generally do anything other then vibrate lol
this was not a rom problem as i wasnt flashing anything *just making that clear* it was simply my phone giving up.
battery in = vibrate bootloop
battery out + plugged in usb/wall = vibrate bootloop
button combos = vibrate bootloop
straight power button = samsung logo.... vibrate bootloop
if im lucky enough to get into download mode a few seconds pass and screen blanks then you guessed it = vibrate bootloop
so until i can get another i717 *yeah i like the phone and they arent overly pricey used* ill have to halt production as i always test my roms before releasing to anyone so that my phone will get the damage instead of other people
with all that said if anyone has a cheap i717 laying around shoot me a pm

I had this happen to me once. I had to use odin and flash CWM. Once I did that I was golden. I then flashed TWRP and its been good *knocks on wood

this phone is beat, most people on this forum would freak out about it actually, i see ppl flip over little hairline scratches, let alone the whole front glass spider cracked, its time to move on from it as im surprised its even lasted this long...
Hey Jamie, I sent you a PM, let me know if you got it and if you're interested at all.
I've got a mint, I mean mint, one. What's your price?
I've had the power button stick problem for awhile now. Sometimes it takes me hours to revive it.
I avoid using the power button now. It sucks that this device is made cheaply.
I hope you can return to us Jamie!

Just spent a good 20-40 mins on mine today getting it to turn on. The new battery I ordered came in so I decided to tinker with it some. Took it apart, took the logic board out, and looked at everything to see if anything fried. (Phone was baking in a tent over the weekend in the desert so the battery swelled and took a dump)
Played with the power button and put it back together a few times and finally got it to power back on. Just be persistent with it and it might revive itself.
I've had somewhat similar symptoms too. Happened to happen after flashing a ROM, so I thought it was a bad flash.
It's a battery failure. I can almost guarantee it. :cyclops: I have the luxury of another person in my household who has an i717 and swapping the battery got my phone up and running again.
My old battery would read full charge (when off and plugged in), and the phone managed to boot once in a while, it would reboot and go into a boot loop as soon as I unplugged the cable.

Flashing any ROM or testing is taking a risk ... Bricking is possible every time.

I've been suffering from a sticking power button over the past couple of days as well. Usually mashing the power button during the vibrate bootloop fixes it...only time will tell how long that will work though.
