Im currently using the Home Base rom. I was previously using some other roms, and I think it was in the Alien #4 rom that the carrier was displayed in the status bar at the top left at all times.
I don't want to download any apps like phono or change carrier name unless necessary. Is there some kind of mod to restore the carrier name to the status bar or do I just have to use a rom that has that mod?

Just a question, but...why would you WANT the carrier's name at the top left? They removed it because it looks nicer and offers you more room for any status bar messages that may appear.
I just got used to it in the original rom I guess
I did accidently restored the AT&T to the status bar by replacing SystemUI.apk file with one from a rom that had it.
Try using the file from this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1222426
Actually this is the file that I used to do this. Only use on 4.5.91 or it may cause stability issues if it works at all.
I cooked up a little transparency for the status bar and pull down notifications/quicksettings in UOT kitchen. It is not a theme that substantially changes anything about the stock ROM. It is simply for those that enjoy wallpaper with transparency.
Instructions:
Have BeastMod ROM installed - V2.01 tested.
Download zip to your SDcard.
Reboot into Recovery.
Select zip file and install.
Reboot.

Is this transparent status bar compatible with HD Revolution ROM.

Not sure it would work there. If you tried it, and did not like it, or it didn't work, you should be able to re-install the ROM over itself and get your old status bar back.
One thing I am sure of, this would replace the icons on your current status bar to the BeastMod icons.
I have tried this with a few different framework & system apks. Im on power_rom evergreen. I tried this with stock evergreen apks, the older power_rom apk, the stock deodexed 407 apks, and even the theme Vantastic glow apks.
The vantastic glow theme flashes on my phone and works great. I dont know why my theme wont work.
Heres the problem, everything changes even the icons, BUT when the phone is not using any data the signal icon changes back to the stock one from that framework & system apk that I used. And when data is used it changes back to the theme icon.
How do I make it so it stays on the theme icon I picked.
In the kitchen I changed to this- "Amend scripting. Old scripting, compatible with old recoveries. Use this if you having problem with flashing (no changes, error 0) or have not HTC Desire phone"
everything else I left alone,
I uploaded both files frame & system
it cooks & flashes fine.
I wiped the dilvak & catch partitions.
WHAT AM I MISSING?????
about phone: I have a aws, with power rom evergreen, kernel=2.6.35.14-gxkernel1.0, baseband= gausb1a140514-aws, android version 2.3.3
Please help..
Attached is the latest theme I made. based off the deodexed 407.
You probably aren't doing anything wrong. I had that problem when I used Kalagas animated (I think that was the name) for icons. It didn't have icons for that particular data state, so the stock ones were used. I fixed it manually in my theme.
Take a look at this theme:
http://www.multiupload.com/1V0DU6AD2S
It's one I made for gingerbread roms. If these are the icons you are talking about, rebuild your theme on UOT and use my framework-res and systemui as your base. The icons are already fixed in it and your changes will overwrite whatever I had in there.
Thanks I will
Sorry just seen this post I will try that
Thank-you
I don't know if they are all like this or not. I only recall having three problem with this pack. I don't remember the exact process i used, but basically i unpacked the mdpi and hdpi folders out of the apk's, found the offending png files and noted their names. I found other icons that could take their place (in this case it was one of the animated icons), copied them and gave them the same name as the offending icons. I overwrote the offending icons with the new ones and everything was good to go.

I was wondering, what do you use for modifying status bar icons? I tried ROM toolbox and went to change battery icon but after changing it all i get is force close from systemui so i rebooted and the status bar was gone.
I fixed it by flashing ROM again in cwm, and then i tried ROM toolbox again for signal bars, the same thing happened.
I'm on cm10, 9/8/12 with Samsung mods (touchwiz ux and some Samsung apps). Stock cm10 kernel.

I used the UOT Kitchen (http://uot.dakra.lt/) on my captivate a while back but never tried on my GS2. I suppose it would work the same way for our phones. It has many options for battery icons, etc.
APK Manager. Extract (option 1 in the script), optimize PNGs (option 2), and zip (option 3) for simple PNG replacement; decompile (9) and recompile (11) for code editing.
They are the AOSP icons,
the same which you would see in
the CyanogenMod ROM.
I found them lovely and decided to
extract them and use them for my
stock ROM and now I'm releasing
the modded files for download.
The 2 system files are from XXLH2
so before flashing I would advise to
make a backup incase you end up
in a bootloop resulting into losing
your stuff.
flast it via cwm
It includes:
Battery icon
Signal icon
WiFi icon
Packet Data icon
Vibration mode icon
Silent mode icon
