Hey everyone ... its me again ... I opened a new thread couple of weeks ago when I got my new Xperia X10a and wasnt able to unlock it ... but I finally unlocked it and updated to 2.1 .... and I try to use internet on my T-mobile .... it gives a letter E on the top which stands for Edge and in other words, no 3g! I went to settings and About my phone .. here is the info ....

p.S .... This was ATT Branded and sim locked by att and I paid 30 dollars on Unlocking.com to get the unlock code ... and now I am trying to use the T-mobile and having the 3g problem with T-mobile so ya ... I know there is a fix for this but just couldnt find it so ya ... any help is appreciated and step by step guide would really help me cuz I am new to androids and roms ... I have been iPod touch/jailbreaking guy and BB guy so ya go easy on me

Ok I am in the Preferred network mode and I have 3 options :
WCDMA only
GSM only
GSM / WCDMA preferred THIS was the one that was checked ... I am guessing I am suppose to change it to WCDMA only so I will change it to that but umm just post 1 more thing patchy ... it will be ur Thousandth post Cognratz!!!

Ok maybe you cant get 3g because of t-mobile and at&t switching.
Maybe there using different frequencies.

For T-Mobile, they use the 1700MHz band for 3G downloads and the 2100MHz band for uploads. A phone needs to support both frequencies in order to use T-Mobile's 3G network.
The AT&T XPERIA X10A supports the 850HMz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 1900MHz, and 2100HMz bands. So since the phone doesn't support the needed 1700MHz band, the phone will be stuck with 2G speed on the T-Mobile network if you continue using the Sony Ericsson generic world 2.1 (for X10A) firmware.

H is not 4g, its HDSPA
every ROM will state what baseband. pick a ROM, then download it. pick baseband, 'create package' in 'Advanced' drop down menu of flashtool, choose baseband, create. then flash with flashtool. then turn on phone and start in xrecovery, flash desired ROM, reboot. have a full battery first

with the new baseband, i noticed that these are built for x10is, and from what i gathered the rogers update did not update the baseband?
if so is there any performance gains from moving to .61 or .67 for a x10a like mine?
.54 is working the best so far..

i gave .61 a quick try before, but it doesn't seem to be better than .54

I installed 2.1.B.0.1 lastnight with bb .67 on EW's V001 and it gave me nice d/l and u/l speed, (2200kbps/1500kbps) but this morning my data dropped in and out alot.
I flashed .54 and .58 and it wasn't as fast as it normally is (tested for about 1/2 hour) so it might of just been bad weather or heavy traffic.
Went back to .67 and it was the same as .54/.58 so I'll give it a day to see how it goes tonight and tomorrow.
*edit.... anyone know the APN settings for optus, i can't recieve mms

I stuck with the 2.1.B.0.1 but changed from .67, back to .54
.54 is definitely faster here on the Gold Coast

So are you saying here that the AT&T branded firmware/baseband update would be recommended for Australian X10a users? Or just X10a in general and maybe not for us in Australia?

but i do know that AT&T uses the same frequency as Telstra, hence there might be better performance compare to a more x10i centric baseband such as .61 or .67
i haven't had time to do speed test so far
i mainly use .65 now to stay compatible with Trip's ROMs

Well if they use the same frequency them I'd have to say that it would have to be best. (I'm actually on three but they use telstra network so out should be okay!)

I have x10 from virgin, but use 3. Have tried alot of diff.basebands nut .54 is the best. I use trip mui rom, 1.02 and 1.08

I heard that the shared frequently between three and telstra would be switch off next year as a apart of telstra building their 4g network
so yeah ... don't rely on it

Gsm working dude i m using it since released, but the gsm data is not working (gprs edge or 3g internet) some sort of apn problem.

Why so much confusion? Everything works. Using for last 15 days since 20a.
Flash through lgmdp or kdz. In my case i first installed 20a via lgmdp then gingerlol and then 20g zip.
This thing is universal. Anyone in the world can use it on any o1.

It isn't rooted but you can root it with superoneclick. I did it with gingerbreak option, after that I installed nofrills and oc min freq to 480Mhz.
In my opinion the ROM is very good, touchscreen bug gone only issue I have is with 3D performance.
But I'm sure after franco digs into it the phone will fly.

I am using airtel. yeah I can use 2g over 3g... you need to get the settings from the customer care by sending a msg.. like MO to 543210 for airtel..

I have been using gsm data and everything since v20a. After v20a i flashed ginger lol. After that i flashed v20zip by paolo.
Gsm data has been fine all through this.
Btw, if you are really having problems with v20g, you should try flashing v20a via russian tool first while recovery img with our custom recovery image. Then flash v20g zip from recovery.
But this is the last resort. First confirm network, apn etc.
(Why i am telling you this? Because v20a and v20g baseband are slightly different.)

Data "not working" - people, this has nothing to do with ROM "bugs". Either set your proper APNs manually or ask your operator to send you the settings via SMS (would recommend the latter to prevent more PEBKAC issues.)

I root only my neo v nothing else, just original only rooted and no third apps etc, another simcard is not needed, i have a replaceble sim from the vodafone shop and that still dont work, the shop manager put my sim in the lg optimus 3d and yes that phone gets 3g so why mine not, i have a vodafone prepay card, is this enough info mate?

My problem is a little bit different. I have rooted my phone, unlocked the bootloader and flashed a custom rom (miui 2.6.8 based on 4.0.4 ics by zdunex25)
with the official 4.1.B.0.431 version, my 3G is working perfectly well, but after i flashed the new rom (with the recommended kernel by the dev) the 3G is not working
I have checked the settings to enable data and nothing is working. Does anybody have any idea on how to make this work?! Because other people with the miui rom have no problem at all and everything is perfect...

first check if you flash right rom for your phone (neo-neo v), have you tried reflash with full wipe?

sorry for the late answer, but i eventually figured it out. it was the rom's fault, it loaded wrong setting for the mobile internet. I checked the correct ones with the official rom and now everything is perfect!
I flashed the "XperiaTized V10 GT-Xperia S" ROM on my Samsung galaxy Ace which has a baseband version of DDKQ8. Everything works fine except the 2G network. Anyone faced issue from India? I really liked the ROM and want to use it. Unfortunately I cannot post my problem on development thread as it is blocked for me.
If anyone even has a work around let me know.

Ohh ok thanks for the quick reply. Let me reflash it again. I was moved to CM7.2 RC3 due to that bug. ROM is so good that I keep coming back to it again

well, it is a different phone. a small difference in the Model no. itself can result in a different phone. There must be some little difference of chip or something in it from the original 5830....

Abou that... You are wrong
I have the GT-S5830L and is the same, the only difference it exists is that the L version has either lower or higher frecuency in band (internet) and that L means latin american
He must use Stock ROMs for GT-S5830L because that frecuency number can make the difference connecting through 2G.

we were on att paying almost 400 a month for a business plan for 3 lines so we now have tmobile business plan and pay around 150. My question is this, how can we use our phones on the tmobile network? Going into more detail, we got the phone unlocked already. called att and i told them i was on tmobile network, that i had bought the att phone thinking it was unlocked and he asked for the imei number and 30 seconds later came back with the unlock code. so my phone is rooted, unlocked, running an ics rom BUT what my problem is that i cant get 4g on the tmobile network. i have searched and downloaded a tmobile radio, or so i thought. someone please help me understand how i can get my phone working correctly on the tmobile network? oh and yeah, i have baseband version i717uclf6. i hope someone can help, thx

Hope this can help you a bit. I'm using a t-mobile network and this worked for me. Jslim is correct in saying that there will be no 4g seen on the screen just the "h". You will get good speeds though.

im on a custom rom king kang lf6 milestone 6, there is no 4g or H at all. I have a big capital E where the signal is.
You may won't check the dev section of that Rom and they may have a 4g patch that you could flash it and you may have it in your Rom already you may have overlooked it take a look in your settings also oh by the way E stands for 2g and H is 3 and H+ stands for 3.5g it stand for 3g on steroids
