SMS messenger - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First off im a complete HTC nood, never used sense before, and never had to use an SMS app because every other phone I owned had a pretty decent messengin app preloaded... Not so much the case here huh?? Does anyone know how to turn the stock SMS off without rooting? Is there a way? I'm trying to use handcent or how ever you spell it and I'd like to only have that app notify me when I get a text...
TIA

Hmmm that sucks. They even give a notification setting in the settings menu. Vibrate, ringtone and all.

I don't have that option

Pop up for stock SMS?

Has anyone tried or is it out there?
Sent from my SGH-T849 using XDA Premium App
for popups you need to use something like handcent
Yeah I understand the alternative SMS pop ups but is there any thing to have pop up on the stock SMS

Sms messaging

Can someone tell me where I can get an app for sending sms messages in groups (more than 10 contacts at a time). The note only has a limit of 10. Please help!

Try groupme app, I use it daily. Think of it like a chatroom with all your "selected" friends. I use it to text all my flag football friends to talk smack. Plus it is free...

Is it safe to delete the stock messaging app?

I use gosms and for some reason the stock app notify me more times then the gosms.... I was going to try and delete it but I don't know how embedded it is in the system and I don't want to break something.

Don't delete it you'll ruin you're sms capabilities just shut off its notification

I would used Titanium Backup to freeze it and test whatever sms client you are using instead. I use Google Voice for everything and have had my messaging frozen (disabled) and everything works.

Thanks guys... I'll freeze it and see what happens.

I use Handcent and have uninstalled (with TiBU) the stock messaging account on just about every ROM I've flashed on all 3 of my EVO's (4G, View, and LTE) with never an issue.

Messaging App

When deleting conversations manually in the stock text messaging app, many times it will freeze. The only way to get out of the app is to press home and then I have to end the app in task manager for it to work again

Am I the only one experiencing this?

does not happen with me. i always have 550+ messages and keep deleting some old ones when I have spare time. never happened.
I switched back to GoSms but I've noticed that some of my friends contact pictures don't show up in the app. Is there a fix for this?
