Rooting, then updating firmware - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I will be rooting my sgs2 this weekend and had a question regarding updating to the latest firmware afterwards. I am currently on XWKE 7 and I'm planning on using super oneclick to root. Once I've rooted my device, will I be able to connect to kies and update the firmware back to XWKE 7 as normal?
Thanks

Not to be rude, but if you arent a dev, you shouldnt be posting threads in the dev section. There is a q&a section for us to post questions in.

Not dev. Doesn't belong in dev. Read before posting too... Answered many times.

Start here, (it's actually in the vibrant q & a section, and has the install guide) and if you have any questions, ask them only in the q &a thread, not the development thread.

I cant post there yet idk why but I cant. I saw the install guide already but still not sure if I need odin or not

ok, here is the actual link for the install instructions. make sure you read them carefully and understand them first, before actually doing the flashing.

[REQUEST] Rogers Stock Kernel Flashable

Hi everyone,
Getting random reboots and think it might be the custom kernel I installed - wondering if someone could kindly provide a flashable of stock Rogers kernel.
Thanks!

This is not the correct forum to ask and if you do a search or some quick browsing, you will find what you are looking for.

Sorry for the wrong forum.
I found the Odin flashable, but I was hoping to find a CWM flashable.

Help please

Hello, today I bought my galaxy s3 and really loved the ics software it had on it, but I took the jellybean update and do not like it. Is there a way to downgrade it back to ics? Couldnt find a tutorial anywhere. I just want a stock ics. No root or anything. Hate all you want. I like it. Thanks in advance.

REPLIES ARE TOTAL NONSENSE .
You dont need root to revert flash stock ICS via Odin .
Root will be removed on stock flash .
But you are in the wrong forum and firmware from this I9300 forum will brick a SPH-L710.
see sticky top of the page .

This question is nothing new, Its not as if you're the only person to ever want to install cwm. Rule #1 of xda rules is to use search before creating topics.
Flash Siyah kernel v4. Flashing a custom kernel gives you root, custom recovery (cwm) and superuser.
If you want any more details then that I suggest you have a look at the other topics where this question was asked and answered. Or have a good look though the link above and learn. Rushing into things will just lead to you having problems.
I used this guide for installing CWM, the first point shows you how to. http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/index.php?title=Install_CM_for_i9100

It's always worth updating, yes. Newer releases have newer fixes.

Will the fw be fine to flash as when I started the download it said it was for turkey. Lol
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Yes you can flash for any country so long as the model is correct. MD3 isn't even the latest anymore. ME2 is (which you can download for Netherlands or Norway).
You'll lose root when you flash Via Odin.
Any particular reason you won't go for something like Wanam Lite ROM, flash through recovery?
Still a sort of noobie...not really had the guts to flash any rom yet
Rooted but on stock XXEMC2

As a rule of thumb,
"Galaxy SIII Android Development" contains:
Samsung TouchWiz based custom ROMs
Unofficial CM, AOKP builds
"Galaxy SIII original Android Development" contains:
Samsung Kernels
Official CM, AOKP (AOSP) builds
AOSP Kernels
