[Q] Volume up and down button functions - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have a sg2 uk version with firmware ke7 (last one) with no root. I read some tips and tricks for this wonderful phone. I was trying one of these but it doesn't work. The tip is, while you're writing an SMS or writing something in the browser for example, you can use the volume up and down buttons to move the cursor if you have to correct some mistake for example, but this tip doesn't work! If I press these buttons obviously volume increase or decrease...can you try on your own galaxy to let me know what could be the problem? Maybe some app can cause this problem?

are you confusing sg2 with the lg O2x. you should try the features thread.

no man I'm not confusing with lg 2x. I'm talikng about galaxy s 2. Do you have this feature? Try and let us know. In mine there isn't, I was wondering if some app is creating this interference...

I havent heard of it before , would it be lg O2x?

the user that reported this tip on an italian forum, says that he is using go message pro with smart keyboard pro and it says it works. I tried with the same sms program and keyboard but it doesn't work for me. That's why I was asking here where usually people is more clever and geek to know all tips and tricks of phones

Is use of the finger hard?

no it's not, seeing that you have to use fingers to press volume buttons too

We will probably get all sorts of stuff once the modding begins.

[Q] P500 ringtone fade-in problem

Hello everyone.
Is there a way to turn off the fade-in feature when receiving calls? It's really annoying and not even too smooth. I would prefer having my full volume instead. After mik_os's kernel this is the only thing that is bugging me with the phone.
I believe this is software related and can be fixed with messing in certain config files, right?
+1 if someone do some magic to get back the full volume in lg p500

No.. i have used prime rom but its the same with others..
because there is not a solution yet, you can use the application called "Volume Locker" instead. its on the market.
Just set the notification timeout to zero and select the same ringtone. it works but its not the best solution.

I will give it a try, usually i receive miss calls from my friends on group network as my calls are free, due to the fade-in I miss those calls most of the time

Built in screenshot

Ok so ive someone else post about this before just canteen remember if it was on another forums or not.
Ok so earlier today i was messaging someone and i was trying to get out the message screen but my phone was taking too long or i was just impatient but anyway i kept hitting the home button then i hit the back button and all of a sudden i heard a shutter sound. Sooooo i went into my gallery and there it was a seperate folder just for "screenshots" and mind you i do have the shoot me app and the folder for that is "shoot me". Has anyone else ever experienced this? I thought it was so cool that there is/was a built in screenshot but just wish i knew how to do it again i was so excited!!

I've experienced this 2 times, I searched everywhere in how to do it, but people keep saying they didn't on accident, we need a dev to answer this question
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
this happened to me a few days ago, as well. thought it was a hidden TW bionix-v function. I tried a number of different key presses to no avail. somebody has to know what the deal is, right?
Seen this alot here but no one can seem to remember what they did to make it happen...its weird..
Lmao happen 3 times to me to smh

I posted this same question in the axura beauty thread. I thought it was a special addition to the axura rom. I found out that its not a rom special but its actually an android feature, only problem I haven't got an actual answer on how to access this feature nor do I know what to look for. I have googled this several times and all I get are results telling me about drocap or shootme and how to use the ddms in order to screenshot without root.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I know for a fact how to do this. I don't think you can force a screenshot with any soft touch keys but you'll notice the screenshot goes off when you're exiting an app/browser and the system freezes up briefly and when you try to hit home on the frozen screen it takes the screenshot. It's happened to me on a few occasions and I distinctly told myself to remember what was happening when the screenshot goes off and turns out it always goes off when my screen is frozen and I hit my home key, while thinking my back button wasn't registered and in fact, was registered and I just got impatient and hit my home button.
I've got a feeling it's a bug log kind of thing. Every post I've seen about it mentions that the phone locked up, and the user pressed buttons rapidly. Sure, we can take Screenshots! You have to have a crashing app to do it though.
This topic has been covered soooo many times not only here on XDA but google.

If you have a vibrant running stock froyo.ka6 you can try this screen capture app from the market:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/screen-...tomorrowkey.android.screencaptureshortcutfree
The only one that does NOT require rooting.

Ummm neither of those links answer anything related to the subject. He's not asking for an apk but how to launch the actual service. Smh at some of the replys.

Hmmmm it seems like StevenJCarney might be correct. Like he said it seems like it happens when peoples phones lock up & it could be a bug.
Hope it isnt a bug & someone is able to figure it out.
Same exact thing here. It really sucks an app has to crash to use it.

If you have a rooted phone you can just use an app called screenshot which works perfectly. And it's free.

really i didn't know that, i don't really like MIUI ROM but if other devs could somehow implement this into their ROM that would be great,i run Cognition ROM (for Galaxy S2)
try adding this to your build.prop
net.bt.timeout=never
or
net.bt.timeout=
leave after the = sign blank to the second one to leave it nulled e.g never time out
hopefully they work

Hi,
Sorry for "hacking" this thread, I was wondering whether it is possible to hack a Bluetooth so as to be able to connect two external Bluetooth speakers of different brands (JBL & Ultimate Ears).
Thank you.

[YP-G70 INTL] Disable the lights on capacitive buttons?

Galaxy Player 5.0 INTL running on CM9, Paranoid Android
Well as the topic said, anyone knows if there's a way to at least disable the lights on the buttons? There are some apps that could disable the lights but it requires you to start up the app at every reboot and it'll be a chore since I tend to reboot the player a few times a day due to freezing etc. There are some threads I saw in xda about it but not sure if it's okay to cross-flash .zip files intended for a different models without bricking the device.

It's been a while since I fixed mobiles but it sounds like a hardware issue. (I have heard this can be the LCD but it sounds more like the motherboard.)
Have you updated the phone recently or put on new apps?
Before trying to fix it - try uninstalling any new apps, a factory reset or if you recently updated the phone, try downgrading it.
Hope this helps until someone gives you a definite answer.

did u use any cpu controller or something..?
looks like your cpu got busy that moment. Just do the hardway with unplug the battery.
Unless it happened many times, you'd better do like what jordan0001's suggest, factory reset or upgrade or downgrade
Thanks...maybe I'll should try...to upgrade it...
