end of june
cheers
If you follow the trend of announcements made by LG, it will be out soon, but for them, "soon" may go up to a year, so... :/
why you cant wait for a official update?
there 3 threads here with daily to use roms. ok, not all is working perfect - but to use it until LG deploys the update, its good and stable enough for most common usage
Waiting for the update. LG promised to release it by may's end.
thanks......
hope its soooooooooner....
@10 comments a day, we will have it in about 300 comments. Just keek posting "can't wait".

Facebook Site of LGAustria says it comes end of may and the localized version end of june.
found new video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6jpf20YOfE&feature=player_embedded#at=324
lg firmware version in this video is v20A
When this wait will get over... (((((
some companies with not recommended hardware (there are more) for new Android releases should sponsor some developers for their work
my opinion
Cant wait......

It is said that these days will come out the official ROM update to version 2.3 or 2.2 on site manufacturer LG. Has anyone heard the same regarding this?
Events are .... and we expect that all the LG team and do ...
That might be great but I don't think so...
There are many LG-Android-Phones and LG might be silly if they give the GT540 a official 2.2/2.3-Update.
If you show us a source... I cannot imagine...

if this is true all my dreams (for the GT540) will be completed ... !!!!
i hope this is no bad joke :/
what's about cyanogen mod? any news about support from cyanogen for lg gt540?
Sent from my GT540 using Tapatalk
No official support...
Sent from my GT540 using XDA Premium App
This has been discussed quite a few times The GT540 Swift/Loop/Optimus won't get a rom update. LG is saying that the GT540 is not optimized for Froyo/Gingerbread. The reason (was back then) - LG Optimus One which came with 2.2. And then, again, Cyanogen was ready to give official support to the GT540, but no one was there to maintain the GT540. Search the CyanogenMod forum, and you will see.

Its not just a minor update, bro.
It fixes a damn lot of lags and few new features also. Don't be so sure about anything untill you are an official LG Dev

The bottom line with this release --regardless of where it drops first in the world -- means that the current custom Gingerbread ROMs will get lots of fresh new code to work from. Andy and Mik have done some great work porting CM7 to the Optimus so far, and with the official release maybe we'll see CM7 go from beta to full release as the new firmware is obviously going to address the remaining issues like bluetooth. I'm also eagerly looking forward to the next stable release of void.
Romania seems First!

This is good. Though I won't release openOptimus build 2.202 until OC kernel is out.
I don't think the devs here need the rom shipped by LG.. it hardly matters if official gingy is out.. all we need is the source.. for it..

Is there a 2.3.6 rom for the optimus v? Cyanogen is only up to 2.3.5
Just wait for IHO to update. It pulls from CyanogenMod upstream.
kernel.org is still down after hackers gained access recently, so that's likely what's holding things up.
What they hacked into thats why weere not getting any new roms out latley?? :/
Ohh were getting roms , just roms modified from Mik_os cm7. Ie. Nexuscyano and many others.I give them credit for actually doing so. Just be patient, Andy's busting his balls to get one out and daxelectro is releasing a second version of sonygenmod within the next week. There is still hope for our devices. There is also team envy who I'm pretty sure will create new buzz for the LG optimus forums

Anyways 2.3.6 does not have anything to do with this phone. It is a small bug-fix update which fixes some bug in the Google talk app in Samsung Nexus S.

true exactly to the point doesn't make sense to update if it brings nothing useful
Take this with a pinch of salt as it's far from official but:
Gaurav Hasabnis, an industry analyst and contributing editor of Fonearena.com posted on Twitter: “Something gonna come in Jan 2012. #sgs2 users gonna rejoice!”, followed by a second tweet: “Soon Mali400 gonna be in full use.”
The mentioned Mali 400 is the name of the GPU on the Samsung Galaxy S II. Rumors states Ice Cream Sandwich will utilize the the full potential of high-end smartphones better than previous Android OS, which leads us to believe that the ICS will be making its way to the Galaxy S2.

The worldwide release of Android 4.0 will begin in time for Christmas with Google’s Nexus S smartphone meaning the new OS should be broadly available for all compatible handsets by early 2012.

If they won't release it officially, I'm sure we'll get a custom rom with 4.0 running as soon as the Galaxy Nexus is launched But good news, anyway!
Just think. If it's January 'officially,' then it could be December (or earlier) for us!
That's a great news. Though I think we'll get ICS unofficially before that. Anyone?

Didn't Samsung drop development of 2.3.4 as they started 2.3.5
I still haven't got any official updates from 2.3.3 on a SIM free handset here in the UK.
Samsung UK have also tweeted that there is no time frame for getting ICS on the SGSII (read in to that what you want)
Think custom roms will be the only way forwards on ICS for some time.
Well that announcement is about Official release, NOT unofficial one. 70% users use Official ROM and like them, existing use this and that. Without a Stock ROM there won't be any Custom ROMs? Would there be?
Count me in those 70%.
We'll sure have some custom rom runnig ICS before the official one but I wonder what they'll do about touchwizz...
Looking forward to it
28 November, 2011
"LG might be slow on the actual upgrades, but at least it’ on time with the announcements. While most of the latest Optimus siblings are getting their first Gingerbread bite just now, LG announces they are all going to taste Ice Cream Sandwich too.
The lucky devices are LG Optimus 3D, Optimus 2X, Optimus Black and Optimus LTE. The upgrade roadmap will be announced in December on the official LG Facebook page.
LG also promises it is exploring its options for bringing the Android 4.0 to some older Optimus smartphones too. So there is a tiny chance the Optimus One and Optimus Chic might get some Ice Cream Sandwich treatment as well."

why do we need official update if great devs are working here on ICS and I'm sure it'll be be much faster and stable than LG ****. we already got experience with gingerbread update, so..
We don't NEED lgs update. I think what Andy was trying to say, is imagine the possibilities if big city corps gave indi devs access too resources that could previously only Be accsessed by getting hired at LG.
Ha if only they knew I'm sure Andy,Ciao,Mik, these tru devs could RUN LG! !! Ha

They (lg) could give 1 single rat's ass about our ARMv6.There "upgrade"would be generic at best.ARMv6 is obsolete and will continue to fustrate devs efforts to "fit" all the new crap to run on it now & in the future.Never the less Andy will be sucessful (ICS) and his worst result will blow awayany thing LG might (maybe) have to offer as an upgrade.LG wants to sell you a new phone with ARMvXX & Qualcomm will make even that old when you buy it.I love my O1 p-509 and will probally run it into the ground with andy's port on it.But I would still "hack" any android I buy on XDA.You guys are all the BEST..........Thanks

all stock rom's are ****, no matter if you use LG, samsung Huawei or any other manufucator,
they all put in all **** app's and stuffs, even if LG may be slow on upgrade, it doesn't meen that the phone is stupid or LG is not a phone to buy, its the apps and no good resources they put in,
and the custom rom's is always better as they want to increase everything the manufucator has missed
I'm pleased as it is. Phone is ten times better than when I bought it thanks to the guys here. They made the phone even bigger bargain than it was so even if we don't get ICS its not that big of a deal.
I have doubts that LG will update out O1s to ICS, just because the phones on that list are their newer or high end phones. Sure we can run it with the right resources, but they already tried to avoid updating us to GB.
Plus XDA ROMs will always be superior so i'm not worried about LG doing it or not.
Next thing you know its gonna be like gingerbread when they said we needed a 1ghz processor.
