What are all these steps to enable reading Arabic?? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear friends,
I purchased Galaxy S2 and I was very disappointed that I can't read Arabic on various applications like messaging, twitter and facebook. I managed to get Opera mini which allows me to read Arabic on the internet. Still I want to use the nice browser and the rest of the applications mentioned earlier.
I found a thread writter by madmack to enable Arabic. The steps looks really scary! What is framework.jar that I am replacing? is this similar to changing system32 folder in windows? how do I know that this will not ruin the rest of the phone functionalities. I mean do I need to do such a big change just to enable reading Arabic.
I've contacted Samsung support on this issue and this was there reply:Thank you for contacting Samsung and I have pleasure in providing the
following assistance.
Regarding your query, kindly note your handset does not support except
Western European Language.
Kindly note that unfortunately the option to add a language using an
application is not supported by your handset model through Samsung Apps,
however you may refer to the Android Market and check if there is a
language pack application that is compatible for download on your
handset. Kindly note that we do not advise that you refer to 3rd party
software as this could cause serious damage to the phone and you would
be liable for the damages caused by using 3rd party applications and the
handset won't be covered by warranty.
Is that the only way to enable Arabic? there is no such thing as an update or patch that you can install instead of making such a big change?
Kind regards,
Sul

There are no Arabic handsets as Samsung said .
If you search you may find a post with what you require .
jje

thank you for the reply.
Thats what I am saying, I found a post that tells me to do a root and change framework.jar. To be honest I don't know what is root neither framework.jar.
As you notice from Samsung's reply that making such a big change would invalidate my warranty.
Would there be any update in the future that we can get from Android market. I mean is that possible? or if I want to read Arabic I have to change a 400mb file size!!
cheers mate

Welcome to the world of android .
Since u bought a phone not yet supporting Arabic then u have to do some work. Don't worry, it's "should" b safe just read the steps carefully.
just install madmac 1.4. and enjoy .
Also warranty is not an issue since u car reinstall the original official rom.

Thank you for the reply guys. Can you please answer the following questions so I can be confident when doing this change.
- Will this change affect the built in functionalities of the phone like camera, video recording ..etc?
- Does this ROM i.e. madmack 1.4 built on the same one that is already installed in Galaxy S2. As you know the built in ROM will be utilized for Galaxy S2. What I mean to say is that madmack 1.4 was built by changing the current Galaxy S2 ROM to enable Arabic or is it a totally new one?
Kind regards,
Sul

Yes it is based on stock Sgs2 rom, it doesnot.change much.. Camera is fine all functions work
This custom rom enables arabic (adds language) plus some other featurea

I just flash my rom with CM7 Nighty GWK 74... But it haven't Chinese T^T
Be honest, I'm just a newer of root, and also that I'm not good in English.
I think that the apps all in English are still ok, but it can't show and type in Chinese ... This is a huge problem! Maybe I haven't read the information carefully and make it like this.
I like this rom so much and don't want to change it. Maybe someone can give me a hand to solve this problem.
I apologize with that maybe many grammar mistick. Hope you guys will understand.
Thanks for your help.

If I'm understanding right, you probably want Google Pinyin IME. Sorry if I've misunderstood.
Thanks for your help first. Maybe I'm really bad in Eng. So that you misunderstood what I mean:-(
I want to find mod/apps or something else that make me can support Chinese for my SGS2 first, then I can type in Chinese. Maybe this rom doesn't support Chinese. I've read a post said that some kernel or rom or somethings (this makes me get crazy cause I get confuse with it) support Chinese but some aren't. I think I must get that first.
Anyway,thanks

The rom would have to support Chinese, and barely any roms here do. I'm not sure if cm7 has or any of our cm7 have, but Miui should. And some other Chinese stock roms.
$1 gets you a reply
><!
Because I've read some topic said that different rom (or is that the cf-root ?) will support different languages. The language will show by the no. of it likes: zh jp (something like this) than ki kg ke and the numbers. (hope you gays understand ~.~ )
But I used xxkh3 and the Lightn'ning rom before, it can show and also type in Chinese with Go keyboard. I just get confuce with this cause I'm using xxki1...
Hope that I will not get mad just because of these numbers /.\
Although I know that I'm such an IDIOT in this topic. haha....

You're not an idiot, you're just new. We all were at some stage
Even I'm still learning a lot, and you only learn by asking questions.
Unfortunately, I don't know if CyanogenMod7 supports Chinese, but try looking under the language settings, in the settings menu
Otherwise, there is a fantastic ROM called MIUI, which is developed in Chinese (but there are English versions), and I think that would be the best for you. It also looks really, really nice, and you can customize a lot
Here's the site: MIUI (Chinese).
screamworks.
haha...I've tried few roms before and I failed.
My SGS2 have root for up to 30 times just because of install wrong kernel and roms.
Yesterday I've tried to install MIUI also.
This is a great rom. I tried to install a new theme but it looks strange
I don't know what's wrong...so that I restore my backup (2.3.5 XXKH1 GaLaXyZeRoS2.v.0.1)
There're many problems in my root life. I failed and failed.
Sometimes I really depression. Am I suitable for root my phone or I just like most of the people use it just for making a call? If like this, why I use SGS2? I just buy a Nokia 3310 for my call is ok
I'm still looking a rom that can fulfill my hope. I will try CM7 again and try to fix the problems. Hope that I can do it

[Q] Galaxy S2 i9100M Chinese rom?

Hello,
I recently bought a Samsung galaxy S2 from Virgin Mobile (i9100M). And I plan to bring it to China to a family member who can only read Chinese.
I have unlocked the phone using the galaxy_S app. However, the phone does not comes with an option to change language to Chinese as with most Samsung phones.
Now what is the easiest and safest way to have the laungage change to Chinese. I am thinking of flashing it to a Chinese Rom. I think any CM9 or CM10 rom also have chinese language support. My idea solution would be flashing it to a offcial chinese rom, e.g. a Hongkong version of stock ICS rom and next time I connect to Samsung Kies, it will recongnize my phone as the same one sold in HongKong, so I can update it in the future? But I don't know if that is possible and if it is risky.
Another solution would be flashing it to a stable CM9 or CM10 rom. Any suggestion of roms and tutorials for flashing?
I also know there is an app called morelocale 2, but it only changes the app name to Chinese, all my settings, menu and dialers are english, is there an replacement for them with Chinese lauguage support?
I would not be able to trouble shooting afterwards, so stability is very important. Any thoughts, useful links would all be welcome.
I understand there is a lot of different instruction thread in the forum for S2, I really have a hard time to go through all of them to figure out which is what I need, as I really just want an answer to my specific situation, (all I need is to have the Simplified Chinese language support), so I created this thread.
Thanks very much.
move to Q&A forum?
Mod, is there a way to move this thread to galaxy SII Q&A forum? Didn't realized that when I start the thread. Thx.
I'm sure they'll get to it in due time

I've got a CM10 ROM (Paranoid Android) and I just went to language and input in settings and changed it to Chinese simplified - in the menu it's at the bottom and looks like this 中国
(简体). The whole thing changed to Chinese.
A lot of the stuff is still in English because the apps are that way, but all the important stuff is in Chinese, like the address book and messaging etc.
Put on QQ, which they all use, and wechat and you're done.
Good luck.
Thanks.
Can I flash it to a Chinese version of stock rom? I am just not sure if all stock version for i9100 model should work for this i9100M model? Ideally, I want it to behave like a phone bought in China, so they can update it via Samsung Kies to the next version of Chinese offcial Jellybeam rom when it is out.

[Q] System in Hebrew and more.

Hello,
a new xda user :victory:, and a new Nokia 920 owner, tried to search the forums for my question but unfortunately ended frustrated.
I bought my phone in Kazakhstan and it doesn't support a Hebrew language for the system (Hebrew keyboard is enabled tough) and also it got many apps and stuff that is in Kazakhian (that I guess came with the phone and will be there every time I update the firmware or such - That's how it was on my Galaxy S3 from Germany).
I heard that I need to flash a version with Hebrew support and maybe it will even fix my other problem with the Kazakhian apps.. I heard it from a store here who wants not so little sum of money to do it.... so if he can... I guess I can do it too.
The problem is - I don't know where to get the rom or firmware that I need with the Hebrew Language, and also I don't know to flash or do anything that involves Nokia... I did on my Galaxy S3 tough, So I don't think It'll be a difficult to learn!
Thanks a lot for everyone who helps!!

[Q] [Help] No Version Update? (Plus a Google Now question)

Hi everyone.
I own a Galaxy S3 mobile device, and I haven't gotten an upgrade for a really long time. My current Andriod version is 4.1.2, and when I try to look for updates it tells me that the last updates are already installed. Maybe it has to do with me living in Israel and having the phone's language on Hebrew? Is there a way I can download the new update through the phone (Not from Samsung's website, third-party programs etc.)?
Another thing, today I started playing with Google Now, because as far as I know it's much better than S Voice, and it has support in Hebrew, which is really great - I don't know of any other program that can support Hebrew. When I searched something like the weather it did display it, although it displayed it in Hebrew and didn't read it out loud to me. I tried changing the Google Now language to English, so I had to ask in English, but the results were still in Hebrew and therefore weren't read out loud. The only thing that made it change was changing the phone's language to English, something I don't want to do, because I want all the settings and words to be in Hebrew.
Another issue is that if I said "Open Youtube" it didn't open it when the phone language was set to Hebrew, although it did open it when it was English, even though this whole time Google Now's language was in English.
Lastly, when I changed the phone's language to English, all of the sudden there were alot of cards with information in Google Now, although when it was in Hebrew there were no cards at all.
Is there a way I can have all these features without changing the whole phone's langauge to English, even if it means it will show all the information in English?
Thank you very much and I'm really sorry I wrote alot
P.S. Sorry If I had any grammar/spelling mistakes, English isn't my mother language, and sorry if I broke any of the site's rules, it's my first post in this website, and I couldn't find an answer to my problem anywhere.

There are tons of articles online how to update through kies/odin, just google it..... there is a latest firmware out there, try it....
Would you be able to do that?
And there is no coming back after your on 4.3 if you don't have a backup your efs (it converts your efs v1 to v2 ) Edit : except ML4
and it requires root access so make sure you know it.......

You can go back to 4.1.2 just fine as long as it's MG4 or above. I downgraded from 4.3 to 4.1.2 just fine, didn't lose my IMEI or need to restore my EFS (although I did have a backup anyway, it wasn't needed).

Yes, but I want to update through the phone's update system and not through other programs, but it tells me there aren't any updates. So I just have to wait untill it will be released?
And what's so bad about 4.3 that alot of people want to downgrade from it?
Thanks for the help

They are the same, just different csc codes and modem, is not much of a problem.
Samsung pushes it's updates in parts depending on the region.... I also was like you waiting for the official update to come through OTA but my patience broke,,,,, i had to update.......
Some (older versions of 4.3 ROMS) are quite buggy, they have wake up lag, lockscreen lag, random reboots, notification problems etc etc.
I am on 4.3 and face none of these, and to me, the device seems more fluid and battery friendly..... I'll recommend you to move on!

[Q] How hard is port some GT-I8552 ROM of the GT-I8550L

In advance, I thank those who can help me. I know my English is not good, since I'm using Google Translate.
What happens is that here in Latin America is distributed GT-I8550L, a variant of Galaxy Grand Quattro, but only 1 Sim.
However, for this smart phone does not exist modified or subsequent updates to Android 4.1.2 ROM. The phone even has features that could seer exploited a little more, instead, by Samsung have been canceled updates to this terminal.
Even I do not know how to create ROMS or create ports of the same, however, I would like to know from you, how feasible is to create some content, or perform any port of GT-I8552, to the GT-I8550L.
Thanks again for reading this, and hoping you can help me, says goodbye
