double check by taking card out of your phone and connecting to pc that you have only one partition and that too vfat.
Hope this will help
in case all else fails use pc to format the card and check if rom detects it.
P.S. if you want multiple partition check thread on my sig

Ok I will test it let u know if it works

I'm getting the same issue. xrecovery detects it fine since I can install the custom roms. But I have tried 2 roms both 2.3.3 and neither detects the sd card. It works fine on my captivate.

[Q] CM7 and SD Card

I just install j20a and everything seems to be running smooth and fine except for the fact that my sd card keeps reading that it's safe to remove. I tried searching but can't seem to find the answer.
Is there something i'm missing? I even reflashed the rom and still nothing
Have you tried after fomatting your card? If not then format your SD using PC and try inserting again and if that too doesn't help then format your card using some other Android phone.
Thanks
Yeah had to format. Problem originated after using link2sd with ewjet.

Sd card help !

im having some issues. cant write, take pictures etc to memory card. i tried formatting it via sonyx10 util and when i plug it in windows the files are still there. when i try to install xRecovery says no memory card is present. im left clueless! any help ?
Try another card in the phone. If it does not work, you might have faulty phone.
Restoring the stock ROM and firmware using SEUS would be my next step, before bringing it for a repair.
unmount then mount it in settings on phone

I tried to format on pc because the memory card is not recognized on my phone. I got the phone pre-owned, it belonged to brother, and I do not know if could be some issue in the firmware. Is there any kind of driver that I have to install to my phone recognize the memory card?
Do you have a memory card reader for the computer? If you do, put the memory card in there, not the phone and format the card. If you don't have a memory card reader, I suggest you buy one. The memory card readers usually hook up through usb.
This shouldn't require any extra drivers to read the card.

I already solved it. I just installed another room and my phone can now recognize any micro sd. Anyway, thanks for helping.

I have a branded x10a from att and I used the ftf x10i 2.3.3 rom and I'm having this same issue, the phone doesn't recognize the sd. I've tried formatting with a pc, different sd, and nothing. I put the 2.1 rom again and works just fine so It's something with the 2.3.3 rom any suggestions?

If I recall, you need the usb mass storage fix for 2.3. Look in the development section. If I remember correctly. Or its the new gingerbread ready xrecovery for 2.3?

I had this same issue, my xperia is also x10a. After install 2.1 rom I saw that my phone still can read my ms. So I installed a generic version of gingerbread for x10i models again then I patched it with this rom ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192988 ) and now my phone can recognize any memory cards.

SD card not mounting

Hi I want to know why my phone says that my external SD card is unavailable even though I inserted it. It doesn't even do a media scan of it. Also my SD card reader sometimes doesn't hold my SD card and I don't know why. Someone please help and thank you in advance. I also forgot to say that it started to do this when I flashed gb bootloaders and started using 2.3/ 2.2 roms.

External SD card should not have an issue mounting to the phone or the PC this is an old issue that has been addressed in all newer releases of ROMs. Make sure you are running the most current release of whatever ROM you are flashing. I do know that if you flash a 2.3 ROM depending on the ROM you may or may not need to flash GB Bootloaders in order for you to see the external SD card on the phone. Everything should be in the OP of whatever you choose to flash.
Good luck!
I am on simply honey 5.0 rc1 and it says unavailable for every rom I try to flash.

I'm really not too familiar with that particular setup, link maybe?
Honestly if its happening with every ROM and ODIN doesn't fix it for you I would assume hardware defect.
Good luck!

[Q] 7 hours, tons of threads, still no results...

Hi Guys,
I recently got a ATT S2 and the first thing I tried to do is root it. I followed this guide.
wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_II_%28AT%26T%29:_Full_Update_Guide
I successfully installed CWM, but I cannot flash a rom using my SD card. Whenever I click install from internal sd card, I get a mounting issue.
(e: Can't mount /emmc/)
I am using the INTERNAL Sd card mounting.
Also, I cannot connect to ODIN or SuperOneClick. FOr some reason I can only use Heimdall.exe to install the CWM.
I am totally out of energy guys. I am ready to give up and stick to stock.
BTW. my phone is not bricked, I can turn it on fine.
The sd card is also not broken; I have two of them that I tried, both the same issue.
You flash probably the cm kernel. If your phone works do a master reset or factory reset from settings menu that should bring you back to stock. If not maybe this will help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1301682 is a bit old but should get you the proper kernel instale

I already know that I flashed the CWM. I want to know why I can't recognize my SD card so i can change a rom.
Choose Install from SD. Not from internal sd.
The mount points are off. Samsung mounts the external inside of /sdcard instead of at the root of the filesystem. The how-tos here were infinitely more helpful to me than cyanogen's, but that was months ago.
