Try void. It is old, but good nonetheless. openOptimus is very good as well.

The day i got my phone

Have u installed recovery? If not.
( There are many methods I find this the easyest.!
Download Rom manager from the market. Open . It will ask for su permission clik allow. Close the app and reboot (i recomend reboot) After reboot Open rom manager, The first option is install clockwork recovery click it than select LG optimus one. It will download and install recovery.
And you are done. ( will requuire internet connection)

To check if you have installed recovery correctly Shutdown the phone. Press Home button + Volume down button + Power button hold it till recovery menu comes up. If it comes up you are ready to flash roms. Inside recovery you can use volume button to go down and up the menu button(FIRST BUTTON) selects the menu item. Back button to go to previous menu. Don't do any thing stupid in there right now.

Don't put it in root of sdcard clock work doesn't show files from root of sdcard ( I don't know if it has changed) only folders so make a folder say "rom" put zip file in that folder.

If you have contacts/sms in phone I recommend take backup.
Than shutdown the phone, boot into recovery ( three button combo) . Select backup and restore in the recovery menu and select full backup. It will make a nandroid backup its usefull if somethings goes wrong. It will take time. Than goto previous menu select advanced option menu in there u will find format /system select it. Than select format /data. Don't select anything else be cautious as it has many wild format option in there.
Goto main menu and select wipe option > select wipe all. Goto main menu select install zip from sdcard browse to rom folder select it than select the cm7 zip file. After that recovery will flash the rom wait patiently as it will look like phone has hung. ................Finish.
Select reboot system from main menu. The phone shall boot into cm7.
( if you don't find the menus I have written above just search it like the format option might be at some other place.)

Little late. But good choice. Keep in mind that you may have some problems here and there. Nothing major. But it's improving by the day. And this is my everyday use ROM now. I'm getting good battery and the performance I need. Good luck.
Don't forget to thank 4silvertooth. That's a lot of typing.

I can get into rcovery but I don't have the option to install from sd or make a backup. The options that I have are reboot, install packages, clear cache and there is on more I can't remember I don't have the phone with me. Install packages dies nothing but show that it can't find any update zip files. I think its not recognizeing my sd card. I have pics and music on my sd card and it works fine so I don't know what's going on.

Sounds like stock recovery. Did you download rom manager? Did you flash cwm recovery. If so reboot into recovery through rom manager
download ROM Manager, and click the first option, its like flash clockwork recovery, choose your device, and then it'll finish, then try going back there, and it should be in GREEN or something
Moved of: Samsung Vibrant > Vibrant General
To: Samsung Vibrant > Vibrant Q&A
Please put your questions to: Vibrant Q&A
I've done all of that. That's how I get in recovery. And its green writing. The weird thing is that I've been able to flash some roms before then I end up wanting to do something else so I use my backup and go back to stock. I did have some problems with the backup that I did and had to use odin to fix it. I then relized that I did not odin the update j16 file so I then did that. I've got the nero rom ready to go just can't get to the right recovery. I do have the clockwork recovery that I got with the rom manager.

Is there an "advanced" option?? If so go to that then you should see reboot recovery. Then you should see the install from SD card option. Also, try mounting your SD card to the computer. And try pulling out your battery while phone is still powered on.

If you are going into stock recovery after flashing CW Recovery from ROM Manager, you need to select "reinstall packages" in stock recovery (it may need to be selected twice). Then you'll go into CWM.
Also, don't delete the "update.zip" file on the root of your sd card...that's the CWM file, which is what is installing when you select reinstall packages.
Sent from my Vibrant using XDA App
Im going to give it another try when I get home. I've done the install packages but I get an error that it can't find somthing. But I will try doing it twice.

Click reinstall package and itll reboot, then click tasty again, and ur in.
If u deleted the update.zip then that's y its not working.
How do I get the update zip back
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I think my problem is with the update zip. I downloaded the new nero b4 and when I look in my files I see it but I can't open or do anything with it. But if I look in astro I see it and I can do something with it. So its something to do with the file app. Its changing it to something that I can't do anything with. I go into recovery and reianstall packages and it looks like its working but then says aborted.

Download titanium backup free/pro, menu, more, create update.zip
Remove the old one before doing this.
Then flash clockwork recovery through rom manager, then try it

Does Gtalk also force close? If so, go to the q AND a thread and download the .zip in the link the "Notices" section. Flash it in ClockworkMod, not ROM Manager, just as you would flash a ROM. Reboot, give it 2 tries and it should work fine... Assuming the problem is what I think it is.

How do I switch to another ROM using CWM or ROM manager. I am using CM7 and would like to explore other ROMs. Need HELP tnx

Firstly here's a video demonstrating how to flash a rom:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVwiiSStuSQ
Installation Instructions:
BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!
Download the rom zip (don't rename it!)
Put the downloaded zip file on your internal sdcard
Reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery (don't do this from rom manager, it won't work)
Might need to wipe data and cache and dalvik cache (read the devs instructions)
Select Install zip from sdcard
Select Browse for zip on sdcard
Select the zip file you put on your sdcard above
(Let it flash)
and next time search for the threads instead of creating a new one, because the admins will most probably delete it lol.
Reboot, Enjoy!
Thanks thanks!

[Q] Wrong camera icon how to delete?

I installed a wrong camera.apk on my GS2 (Kernel XWKG1) but when I deleted the apk from system/app the icon in the application menu didn't disappear.
Now I installed the modified version of camera.apk for GS2 and it works, but I still have a different icon that I cannot delete because it's seen as a system app.
If i try to delete again the new camera.apk the only icon that goes away is the right one.
Is there a way to delete the wrong one?
PS:Can someone send me the original camera.apk for my phone?
See if the rouge shows in Titanium, if so, just use Titanium to un-install and reboot into CWM Recovery clearing dalvik.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I'm sorry, but I'm pretty new about those things.
Titanium is an app for backup right? In any case I can't see camera.apk in the list.
And then what is it the "recovery clearing dalvik"?
There are a number of ways to enter Recovery. Some are:
1. If your custom ROM has an advanced power menu APM (when you press the power button and then select reboot, there will usually be an option for recovery.
2. Use Chainfire's CWM app.
3. Power off, hold volume up + menu + power button. In that order. Keep all pressed until in recovery mode.
Once in recovery, navigate to (I think) wipe.... Or advanced....
Just look for dalvik cache and wipe/delete.
You can navigate buy using volume = up/down, power = back, home = select.
If you cannot access this recovery, you don't have it installed. Easiest way is by flashing a custom ROM / kernel combo or Chainfire's CF root kernel. Root required.
Titanium backup is a app for backing up apps and data,.as well as much more.....
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
OK, so, I have the "reboot into clockworkmod recovery" in CWM.
This is what I need, right? When I'm in recovery mode I will be able to delete the icon from the menu?
To exit that recovery mode I just have to reboot the phone normally?
Thanks.
As I said, just wipe/delete dalvik cache and reboot. See what happens. It will take a few minutes to boot, don't worry.
In Recovery you can also flash custom rom (flashable zip from sdcard) and make restore nan-backups etc. Best to back up like this before updating rom, flashing themes etc so you can return if you don't like new or have issues.
To exit recovery, you can navigate to reboot phone/system or power off.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Sorry, I didn't do exactly as you told me, but I solved the problem.
I first tried to uninstall the app using titanium, it worked for a while but never finishing, so I killed titanium app and then, if I clicked on the wrong app, instead of saying "forced interruption" it said "application not installed on the phone", but the icon was still there.
Then I tryed to reboot on recovery mode, but I didn't do anything in that, only clicked reboot and then the icon was chanced in a sheet with SD written on it, I clicked on modify and then it let me erase the icon just like a normal app.
Thanks anyway for the support!
Now I have another little problem though, when I shutdown the phone, instead of remaining off it reboots automatically.
What could it be?
What rom and kernel are you using, themes, and made any changes recently... Apart from above?
Also, are you undervolt / overclock cpu?
Edit: also try a battery pull for a few minutes, or reflash rom, or worst case, full wipe in recovery followed immediately by flashing rom.
There are a number of app that can backup apps and data, including titanium,.the pro version allows batch restore and much more. Can also repair market links etc.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I used the modified kernel just to root the phone and then reflashed the original kernel, no themes, no overclocking.
Now I try with the battery pull.
EDIT: battery pull didn't work.
EDIT2: Reflashing kernel with odin, yes!it worked!
Excellent

[Q] flashing cfw on sd with cwm the same steps or different?

hi i have used mindcr 2.9 rom i like it but wanted ro try different rom. well i have flashed mindcr many times cause i deleted something i need. so i toght i should try ankther rom in this case i chose simplicity v4 . but i cold not go into download mode only recovery so i wanted to flash back stock rom but i coldnt tried everything epcept the usb jig .. anyways i sent it to repair.. ill be getting it tomorrow. it was working only thing download mode did not work i tried all methods no luck . so here is my question... can you install another rom over mindcr with cwm? i search and many people said yes. so i did an phone got hard brick. if it dont matter then the procedure that i followes was wronf. are all roms installed trhu cwm in sd ca rd always the same dprocedure??? if so should i used the mindcr that i been using. any link for simplicity v4 ultimate i dont want v5 procedure from mind ans simplicity were almost the same are roms always installed the same procedure? i think if u can install a rom over anoher rom installed procedure from place i followed bricked my phone... thanks
It is best to install a Rom over stock. Even flashing over a Rom works sometimes. And yes every Rom is installed through cwm or e3 recovery. Simplicity v4 should be flashed the same way as mindcr Rom.

When you go into CWM recovery, there should be a section called Backup/Restore. Back up here, it Will take about 150mb-350mb of your sd card depending on what you have. So if flashing your Rom goes wrong you can go back to CWM and restore.
Then follow the procedure which is
- Root
- CWM
- Mount everything (it should look like unmount/system, unmount/data etc)
- wipe data and cache
- Advanced » wipe dalvik cache
- Mount everything again
- Install .zip from sd. Find the Rom and flash it.
This procedure will definitely work. If it doesn't just restore and try again.
Also, don't say thanks, but press it if I helped you
