How to install .apk ? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I have a new x10i phone here that I just rooted, how can I install .apk with this factory phone ? I got no internet here to install Astro folder app.

Move the .APKs into your SD card and use the Application Installer application from the menu, and choose the applications you want to install.

download from your computer and transfer to sd card and install from there or get a friend who already has it downloaded to transfer it to your sd card.

So I can use my x8 & move app with app2sd then run the SD in x10i ?

Yes and no. You can transfer the
.apk installers from your X8 but you can't move your installation to your SD card(Apps2SD) with the stock ROM. You need a custom ROM with Android 2.2 and above to use Apps2SD.

First move apk file on your SD card.
Then use Astro file manager to search and install apk file on your Android phone.
If you don't have Astro File Manger, head over to free download Astro File Manager.

just copy all your .apk files to \custom\apps, then start Flashtool, click APK installer.

[Q] Uruk 0.7 Market not installing...

I installed Uruk 0.7 to internal and everything is working fine. However, I followed directions to install market and it didn't work:
If you want GoogleMarket (and required component to make it work) you can install UrukDroid package - UrukDroid-GoogleMarket_1.0.tbz2. (files inside this packaged are base on kenyu73 work).
If you copied your old /data, you cannot have installed any other version of Market. If you apply this update, on previously installed market/vending etc. - it won't work. This packaged is tested with fresh install of Uruk - where it works.
Download archive and put it in UrukUpdate directory located on /data partition
(so path is /data/UrukUpdate/). You should do it directly from internet browser on Archos Tablet, file manager like Astro or terminal - you shouldn't do it over USB.
Installation process will start automatically and silently, file will disappear from that folder after it's done. To run Market, restart is required when you'll be ready.

I downloaded from the link and at first it wouldn't allow me to download from link because it said file format not accepted by device. So I used Astro (as described) and clicked on the "allow all download formats" button, then downloaded to the directory listed above (/data/UrukUpdate/). I rebooted and nothing happened. I tried to do an "update" through Astro, and nothing happened, I tried to place in root and nothing happened...
I noticed the file I downloaded was UrukDroid-GoogleMarket_1.0.sub rather than UrukDroid-GoogleMarket_1.0.tbz2. However, that is how it downloads every time. So I gues...
I'm lost.
Any suggestions? I can't download any of my apps through Appbrain or Market, so I am not happy with Uruk without access to Market. Thanks for any help!!

Create download-dir on your 101.
Download file with your pc and copy the file UrukDroid-GoogleMarket_1.0.tbz2 to the dir on your 101 using usb-connection.
Copy the file from download-dir to /data/UrukUpdate/ using Root Explorer.
Exit Root Explorer and wait a minute or two. Run Root Explorer again and check /data/UrukUpdate/ for if it is empty. At this point Market is installed. Restart you 101 and run Market.
Yeah!
Cheers.
Thanks for the info, followed it with Astro (can't DL Root Explorer through AppLib) and still no go... Anything else?
Have you tried to copy file via terminal? Because for me, any of the file managers doesn't work to write files in system (they says rooted, but cannot mount read\write, or something like it).
So i went to terminal and:
su
cp /sdcard/UrukDroid-GoogleMarket_1.0.tbz2 /data/UrukUpdate/
Restart and i have Android Market.
Of course you have to use path to file instead of "/sdcard/UrukDroid-GoogleMarket_1.0.tbz2", to your location.
Worked! Thanks!

How can i root my prestigio PMP5080B Android Pad on gingerbread 2.3.1

Help!!
i been surfing the internet trying to find a way of how i can root my device. so far ive had on luck. i have tried gingerbreak but i don't think this has even worked. does anyone have any ideas of how you could root this particular device. if you have any suggestions or know how you can, i would be very grateful.
HOWTO - root PMP5080B
There is a way to root the tablet.
But it it does not root the runnning version, it roots the update image.
So if don't have the most actual firmware try this:
(maybe you can flash the firmware even it is not newer, but i don't know how)
Todo (Windows PC necessary):
At first load the latest firmware and unzip it:
h t t p : / / w w w .prestigio.com/info/product/downloads?NODE_ID=61101103718510974&ITEM=110706112617507776
Download the Wendal tool:
h t t p s :/ / docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B8h...RjZjFmODdiZTQ1
Then follow this steps:
1. Unzip the Wendal tool, you get a folder named "RK29xxImagetools_v2.1".
2. copy the update.img from Prestigio firmware download in the "RK29xxImagetools_v2.1" folder and rename the file to "wendal.img"
3. start "Runme.bat"
4. press "1", you get the message that you have to rename your file. Since you have already done this before proceed. The batch file starts, make sure you dont see any errors.
5. press "2" followed by "Enter". The rootet image will be created automatically
6. end the programm with "3"
7. in the "RK29xxImagetools_v2.1" you will find a file named "wendal-new.img", copy it to your SD card and rename it to "update.img".
8. put your SD card in your tablet, you will get a message to update your firmware
9. the tablet reboots, flashes the new firmware
10. be happy with your root access
Still having problems.
i have done what you said for me to do but when i rename the firmware to "wendal.img" and run it for some reason it keeps saying i haven't put the firmware in the folder when i have. do you know what how you can sort this out.
cheers
Did you unzip the firmware download?
Tried, tested & confirmed working
Just like to note that the software used will give you a warning about placing the update.img in the correct folder and renaming it even when it has already been done. You just have to press enter!
I have 5080B and i want to root it, but on ICS stock rom. Problem is, i cannot use wendal tools cause it can't add su and superuser.apk into /system ("no such directory") and even earlier i used to root gingerbread with these tools it is half-root - /system not rw, but superuser works
i saw update 2.0.2 from prestigio, pre-rooted, but i want to root this, newest version, 2.0.3
i have linux setup running and i tried mounting system.img but i can only add su, and nothing else cause there's no space...
also, how do i boot recovery from the device itself? i tried vol- and power key but there is an image of an 'destroyed' Android bot, no options there at all
Same problem - want root on Prestigio PMP 5080B
Just got a Prestigio PMP5080B running ICS 4 and want to root the tablet. I read from the preceding message that thhe method discussed here doesn't seem to work with it. Any ideas would be most welcomed here too.
By the way Hi!

[Q] Rooting WM8850 Android 4.0 Tablet

I've got a cheap Chinese tablet (WM8850-MID) running Android 4.0.3 based on WonderMedia 8850 processor.
It's not rooted.
Here's what i found:
/system/xbin/su is present:
-rwsr-xr-x 1 0 0 68528 May 14 11:07 su
But I can't run su in a terminal:
su uid 10064 not allowed to su
Using adb.exe I have the same problem with uid 2000.
There is a script /system/etc/init.sh which is called a boot time, but If I modify and push it via adb it won't execute (lost execute permission)
adb reboot-bootloader does reboot the device, but it does not stay in bootloader mode and just go straight to Android.
I'm not sure where to go from here. Is there a way to root that device ?
Try ./adb root to run as root.
Use oneclickroot.

I forgot to mention "adb root" says I'm already root.
If I copy files with adb push, the owner is root, but If I use "adb shell" I'm user uid 2000.
This is a new tablet, but I'll give oneclick a try anyway. Thanks.
I've just tried SuperOneClick 2.3.1.0. It says it's already rooted because it can find /system/xbin/su, but I continued anyway. It can copy busybox (temp) but cannot change the permissions and it stops there.
Try resetting your tablet and if the su binary is stil there remove it. After resetting retry with superoneclick.

Thanks, but how do I delete it since I don't have the permissions? In case it's possible, is it safe to remove the su binary? I have no way to recover my firmware...
Use ./adb root to remove it because you will be root. After removing it reset your tablet to factory settings. It is safe because the su binary is not part of the os.
Then try rooting with oneclickroot.
Hope it works for you.
i also bought wm8850 tablet in china..can you teach me how to root in detailed its my first android device....i dont understand the other terms u are using....
Hi jallaine12gil,
I think that you should first try to root with oneclickroot. Post if it worked or not. Oneclickroot is a rooting program for android devices.
download the firmware. then find the android4.0.tgz file open it with 7zip, add the su file to system/bin folder and system/xbin manually.... then put the superuser.apk in the system/app folder then save changes.... then flash firmware from sdcard

Use ADB.
adb install "name of app"
The use titanium to convert it to a system app if everything is working great.

ADB is the Android Debugging Bridge. That's a very useful tool doing lots of things to your phone.
Installing that gets you an "adb" command that allows you to do things like push software onto your phone. (I.e. adb install something.adk".
There's an easier way.
Insert the sdcard from your phone into your PC. Copy the .adk files you care about to the top directory of that card.
Then put it back into your phone and use a file manager (root explorer, for example) to install those APKs from the SDcard.
Converting to a system app means moving it from /data/app to /system/app, which your root file manager can do for you.
However, I'm a bit worried about something: you need to understand that there are several models of the Galaxy S4.
Moving stuff between models can brick your phone. Your sig says you have a GT-I9502. Installing stuff from the I545 may or may not work. Not understanding what you're flashing usually leads to a brick.

You probably won't brick your phone by installing an APK designed for another phone. If it's not compatible, the app will crash (force close) but the rest of the phone will be fine.
You do have to be careful with ROMs, rooting tools, and so forth. Those need to be designed for your specific phone model.

I tried Motochopper, worked flawlessly.
Also tried this method, worked first time and was very fast. Easiest root I've ever done

Probably because not being able to move apps to the SD card a 4.1 thing.

I am looking for same. Phone is rooted but can't move apps. We NEED a ROM, or at least a way to move-down load apps to SD !
yes motochopper works as long as your driver is loaded on the pc then it works. now on to link2sd

I used link2sd in combination with this script http://androidforums.com/lg-optimus-f3/801368-mod-app2external_sd-fixed-duplicate-files.html Havent had an iussue with space since. There is a dev on the android forums working on the bootlocker and the kernel issues with reinstalling factory after recovery is rebooted.
I rooted my phone motochopper and I can't find any Roms for it. I get into ROM manager and I can't get any farther because my phone model isn't listed..what can I do?? I feel like I'm missing out because I can't get custom UI and all that. HELP PLEASE!

I've been searching the web for how to root LG Optimus F3 for VM, I found nothing. I tried looking on how to root any Jellybean device all I got was a reboot and nothing. After upgrading from a Kyocera Event and having it root, I've missed all the features and it has just been one day. Can someone please share any information they have, on how possibly I can root my device.
Thanks!

Ok so i am now rooted thanks to myself only got out dated answers this worked for me with my LG ls-720v7 (4.1.2 - jb)
First step download. SManager from market
Then get towleroot.apk link below
towelroot com/tr.apk
Then install the apk find it in your download directory but first make sure you allow unknown sources in settings_security after thats installed run it download su and busybox from market and then use root checker to see if you are now rooted.
O cant figure out how to swap internal with ext. Try this it also worked for me. Download Uni-init v1.0.apk from the market install it run it Click on Activate and allow with super user Click on Verify to make sure init.d is enabled Reboot your device Download any Root Browser you like from the play store or use smanager if you still have it Download 11extsd2internalsd from below
www mediafire com/view/8pwu65zzd10ow5z/11extsd2internalsd
copy it to your sd card Open Root Browser and copy 11extsd2internalsd and paste it /system/etc/init.d folder Hold click 11extsd2internalsd and set permissions and make sure everything is checked as far as Read, Write, and Execute. Open smanager and allow with root access Go to /system/etc/init.d and click on 11extsd2internalsd Click at the top where it has Su (lil android head) and Boot icons and hit save and then exit Reboot your device and your all done!
