Replacing Text Editing bounding arrows? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I find the Editing text bounding arrows frustrating to use on Galaxy SII (press hold on text until those orange arrows are shown). Most of the times its impossible to precisely drag the handle very you want, further more you have to be very accurate on where on the arrows you put your finger otherwise it won't move, basically its a hit and miss situation most of the times.
On HTC, its incredibly easy, once the equivalent of arrows (circle type handles) are shown, dragging them is super fast and easy and you have magnifying glass showing exactly where you'll land.
is there a way to replace the way Galaxy sII drag and drop editing action is done with that of HTC or is there a way to improve it?

+1 for this

Can the responsiveness of the Trackball be adjusted.. and be context sensitive?

I have found the trackball so hard to maneuver to the most simple locations in any kind of compose window -- to go from beginning of a line to end of line, top of composed text to end of text block... I would really like for it to move much faster in those situations.
Also in scrolling up/down a web-page for simply reading.
At the same time. I find it way too hair-trigger and uncontrollable when trying to locate the link you want to click, or the field you want to edit on a form or any page.
Is this all Android-controlled, or does HTC hardware and its Sense UI add controllable refinement and adjustments?
Thank you.
(Bonus question which I will search for by myself: Are the hard buttons remappable to other functions. If so, is it possible to multi-function a hard-key by having it do one thing with a very light touch, and another with a press & hold ? )
These issues, as well as my Q re capacitive vs resistive screen are all about discomfort from Repetitive Stress having to place fingers and finger tips is positions completely different from using Windows Mobile devices. I am sure there much be advantages I am missing. I really look forward to those.

[Q] how to turn off copy/paste?

Hi All,
Is there a way to diabled the new copy and paste feature?
I ask because I can not longer edit text, if i make a typo and touch to move the cursor back, it just highlights the entire word. Touch it again ans it de-selects.
This annoyence is compounded by the lack of left and right cursor keys to move though text.
Is it just me or does anyone find this annoying?
Thanks
Dave
Hi
I just accidently found the answer to my question.
If you are editing text, say for a text message, touch the text and keep you finger/thumb on the screen. I little green text curser appears above where you are touching.
You can then drag this to the correct place in the text that you wish to edit.
Thanks Everyone.
Dave
Yep i already knew that
Sometimes is good to actually read the little intro or some tips and tricks in the Microsoft Windows Phone 7 page. After all, they exist for some reason
But WP7 is very easy to manage. Here is a tip: if you need something, just press and hold to see more options appear... This can be done almost everywhere

[Q] two lines of text on icon labels?

Is there any way to change homescreen icon labels to have room for two lines of text, rather than just one?
I'm running ADWLauncher EX on mik's CM7 6.5.7. As far as I can tell, these are my only options:
1. use ADWLauncher's "New Icon" setting, which crushes two words on top of each other into one line, having the bottom word be unreadably small and the top of the upper word cut off by the edge of the label:
GPS <--Only more crushed together
Essentials
2. have the length of the label cut off the right side once a certain number of letters fill it ("GPS Essen").
Option #1 I don't like at all, the "bolded" text just makes it harder to read, and decreasing the font size doesn't change the "top and bottom" word placement. Is there any way at all to somehow set the labels to allow for two lines of regular-sized text? I could swear I saw it done somewhere but I'm damned if I can remember where, or if I'm just imagining it. I fiddled a bit with ProLauncher but I couldn't find an option for that either.
(This may be the wrong forum to ask this in, so feel free to chuck it to the right place)

Problem when reading - Text is highlighted too easily

I haven't seen a thread on this yet and want to see if in the only one with this problem.
When reading on the browser or some other sort of free form text, inevitably I will end up selecting/highlighting text as I up because of how easy they made it for text to be selected. The usual way of highlighting text to copy it is to hold your finger for 1-2 seconds over a word to begin selecting. Here, however, whenever you tap on a word it is automatically selected. It isn't a deal breaker, but does make it difficult to read any sort of article or text without being annoyed.
Is there any the way to change this or to mitigate it? Thanks!
Nope there is no way of changing this behaviour.
I personally don't have this problem you are pointing, I can read and scroll without ever select the text.
There is a small difference between tapping, and swipe your finger over the screen to do a scroll.
BTW, you dont keep your fingers onscreen while reading, do you? hehe
Are you using a screen protector? Besides being able to protect the screen, they also reduce sensitivity.

Location of Zoom Button Images?

I don't like the appearance of the default zoom buttons. They've opaque little tic-tacs that are hard to press and often obscure elements on the bottom right of the screen.
Does anyone know where to find the images for the zoom buttons? Is it in the SystemUI.apk? I have no problem unzipping and messing with it, but I just need some direction as to where they are.
If anyone is curious, I mm trying to get the transparent circle zoom buttons with thin black outlines from a ROM I used when froyo came out (Bionix for the Samsung Vibrant).
