- flash a custom recovery (CWM or AmonRA) - the howtos are already here, read them. If you cannot be bothered, you can install ROM Manager and install CWM from its GUI. (Note: I got fastboot when I tried, so this ROM Manager thing is not really what I would personally recommend. )
- copy the kernel ZIP to root of your SD card
- reboot to recovery
- flash zip from there
- reboot
- done

[Q] [HELP] Official LG Updater over ClockWorkMod Recovery

I have an LG Optimus One running 2.2.2 latest firmware V10e. Recently, I rooted my device and installed ClockWorkMod Recovery and the Lagfix+OC Kernel by der_caverman. I am using the Stock ROM with that Kernel.
My question is when the official Gingerbread Update comes out by LG, will I be able to update it with the official LG software updater or will it not work because I have ClockWorkMod Recovery installed.
If not, how can I remove ClockWorkMod Recovery get my original Recovery Back???
any help would be appreciated!
I already asked the same question

you can just flash any recovery given above.its a zip file just flash the zip as you flash roms.one of the links contains original recovery for p500.
thanks...it worked
thank you guys...
If the phone is just 'rooted' and no custom ROM, would one need to follow the above steps before upgrading? Thanks

nope. you can upgrade at any time if u are staying with ur oem rom even if u are rooted. only thing is that u will lose ur root previllage after the update.
its alwayes advisable to have a custom recovery and custom rom. cause it can take nandroid backups(will save your day if anything goes wrong)

Can you please tell me can I upgrade without doing anything??? I have rooted my phone and installed AmonRa recovery, and I'm on stock rom 2.2.2 10e (I have just flashed some framework that I made on UOT kitchen).

it is risky since you have changed the frame work.if i were you i will do the following.
1)unroot the phone( if u have used gingerbreak use the same to unroot)
2)down load the original recovery from http://www.megaupload.com/?f=XGKNWZQJ and flash. thus u can getrid of amonra and get back original p500 recovery
3)reboot and hard reset and upgrade.
4) since u are now on original recovery and in unrooted condition if any thing goes wrong u can claim warrenty.
let me ask u why u need an upgrade? to get lot of crapwares? or to get amere 600mhz kernal? or to get a laggy phone with mere 60 mb of internal storage space to install all ur apps? or to have adds on every apps?

its stable,beautiful,oced and updated gingerbread.
Thanks for your answer!
And I understand you when you ask me why do I need official update, because I agree that official rom = creap And thats why the first thing that I have done when I rooted my phone was to uninstall all the bloatware from it
I will for sure flash miks rom when he base it on official gingerbread, and if I have a little time for weekend current mod that you recommended (I only hesitate because of the bugs - I know there are just a couple of them, but...). I tried yesterday francos kernel v151, but I'm experiencing color bending in lower half of a screen with it...

ya its up to you to decide...and i agree with u absolutly.but i aint had any problems with mik's 6.5.2(not using francos ker cause some error with cpu freq settings, u have to use setcpu).
Just one more question - when you said:

yes its a flashable unsigned zip.but if u r using amonra to flash( cause it is unsigned) u have to uncheck the option "toggle signature verify" first.Amonra wont allow u to flash unsigned zips unless u do the above.
ps:if original recovery is flashed u will lose all the options in amonra and the only option will be the hard reset option.
there is a good how to section if u wish...

[Q] Should I flash CM7 by Mik 6.5.5 using ROM MANAGER?

Should I flash CM7 by Mik 6.5.5 using ROM MANAGER? I've read that application bricked some phones, anyone knows about it?
flashing with ROM MANAGER is same as using ClockWorkMod recovery, coz ultimately everything is done from recovery.... so u're good to go!!!!
So, I wouldn't have any problems flashing 6.5.5 from ROM MANAGER app? It's fully compatible with CWM ?
Thanks a lot, tomorrow I'm flashing the p500 and I don't want to have any problems, so I want to be really sure about what I do
yes... CWM and ROM Manager are a package together. ROM MANAGER on it's first run, install CWM recovery. So, they aren't different things, just two parts.....
don't worry, My first flash was also similar.... got worried... but everything came out just fi9.
Last question bro, The easiest way to root is using Superoneclick ?

I would suggest that flashing through CWM revocery is the best way. Just use ROM manager to install CWM recovery. After installing it, you won't need ROM manager anymore
I say this because I experienced factory resets just by rebooting into recovery through the ROM manager. Heard that the latest version is fixed but CWM is working like a charm.

Z4Root would be fine.
use z4root if ur phone running 2.2
2.2+ then use gingerbreak ~
Here's my experience, one: I used z4root and it didnt work than I used gingerbreak v1.20 and it worked. I was rooted...I had quite a few unsuccessful attempts with using rom manager so I did alittle homework and found some flashable recoveries, which I will list a link to
http://www.megaupload.com/?f=XGKNWZQJ
Im using CWM 3.1.0.0 and my rom is CM7 (which honestly: is the best)...Ive used Megatron V1 and Devoid Froyo Final but my money's with CM7, I love to options that it has...
make sure that you wipe everything when your in recovery ie...dalvik/cache/battery stats: everything. It makes for a clean slate and you shouldnt have any problems from there on
huh.........

[Requ.]Official FW as images and stock kernel

Hi.
Could somebody pls provide an official GB image (v20a,v20c, v20g) as recovery flashable zip?
And while being at it, a stock GB kernel as flashable zip would also be nice.
Thanks in advance.
marco
PS: I'm aware you need a new baseband.
Here you go:

Stock GB V20c (Untouched and untested. Though I have cooked a ROM with this)
Flash it at your own risk.
thank you very much!

I do not understand how to install this rom? I put the stockrom.zip on SD, i boot in to recovery (Custom Recovery), i chose install zip from SD card and i receive "Ïnstallation aborted" message. Any help? Thx in advance
Its probably not signed so u must disable the check.
And i have a feeling you arent aware of the baseband problem.

to be honest i haven't tried to flash the provided zip to my phone.
After being fed up with all the drawbacks of the custom GB roms, i used lgmdp and did the install process all the way from the beginning.
Right now i'm using stock unrooted v20g, not one single problem with the phone and with 50+ hours runtime i'm at 30% battery.
If somebody could give me a quick howto how to create a flashable image from an already installed phone, i'd do that and put that image online.
best regards
I googled a bit and will try to put something together this evening. I'll get back here when i got something.

about ROM:
1) What is "Old BaseBand" ? Refers to baseband before you updated to gingerbread 2.3.3.
2) Those ROM's are good for my phone?

5) After I rooted my phone,I installed Rom Manger.
Can i flash a ROM with ROM Manger?
thank you! Absolutely NO! just kidding.. yeah. its the easiest way to flash ROM to your phone
As far as I know.

But i still don't understand the Old BaseBand .
All O1 phones are Old BaseBand before they updated to 2.3.3?
So if my phone is android 2.2.1 he is old BaseBand?
If u have android 2.2.1 u can root using gingerbreak.
to root download gingef break
den instLl rom managed
install recovery ( make sure u hve wifi / fast net )
den choose any rom nd kernel
juat make sure kenel version nd roms kernel eg. mik 6.6.1 can use .35 kernel but 6.5.8 can !
i m dont suggestin rom & kernel bcoz i m also findin nice one !
i hope i helped !
press thanks !
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
U can install both of the roms as they support old baseband and it is not necessary to flash a diffrent kurnel with a rom
Since u have 2.2.1 root using gingerbreak and u need to flash recovery before flashing custom rom it is the first option in rom manager.

[KERNEL] GT-I9100 ROOTED STOCK Kernels by STOCK+ Team (ALL NEW VERSIONS + TOUCH CWM!)

Hello everyone,
STOCK+ Team ($omator & Grooby) are proud to bring you the latest rooted kernels based on samsung stock kernels that you may find in ROM by Samsung.
Why should i use this kernel?
Our kernels are uber-minimal modification of stock kernel used only for rooting (no custom recovery is installed). So the kernel it's like stock just rooted, and there is small chance (or any chance) that it will be detected as modified by service center at the first look
Please find latest of kernels listed below:
ROOTED! I9100XXLPH - ICS (4.0.3) - CL: 1104396 - B.Date: 16-02-2012 -[/b] Touch CWM Recovery Download HERE!
ROOTED! I9100XXLPB - ICS (4.0.3) - CL: 99600 - B.Date: 29-01-2012 - Samsung Recovery Download HERE! or Touch CWM Recovery Download HERE!
Instructions:
1. Flash zImage.tar of choosen kernel using odin (you will find it in package)
2. enable usb debugging in settings->applications
3. while still connected and odin/kies is turned off, run RUNME.BAT (also in package)
4. Install latest Superuser.apk from market!
5. Profit!

Can we get a CWM flashable zip of the touch based version?
Sorry for my stupid question but is this only for ICS? I'm little confused, or can we use this for stock to?

Its for ICS as stated in first post if you want to request any other kernel let me know in this thread.
Also, for now we provide only ODIN images, which is most suitable for people with or without CWM already installed.
Thanks!
(ODIN is in the package.)
I havent used odin in a whille. Could someone please refresh my memory, which do I flash this under, pda, phone or csc? I obviously know this isn't bootloader

Like i thought, I got confused.by the stock if you could do a kernel for stock ROM with touch recovery it would be awesome.
You just got Samsunged from Tapatalk
Do we need to execute runme.bat if the phone is already rooted and has su installed?
First of all its a stock rom (dont mix it with team name which is STOCKPLUS) + the touch CWM added (su will install automatically) so just flash with ODIN as PDA and enjoy samsung rom with good recovery and root
secondly, if you got a su installed then you dont need to run runme.bat, just install superuser from market or from package shipped with kernel (adb install Superuser.apk)
Enjoy!
