Just bought a HDMI to mini HDMI cable works great on my large screen tv, means I can now use the Asus pad as a media streamer..it works really well with Plex. if your in the UK and want one I got it from www.iCompinkCartridges.co.uk and was a 2mtr cable for £2.32 with free postage. Also have a case on order hoping it will fit the Transformer it bends open and becomes a support for the pad, update if its any good when it comes (it was only £4.99)
Link doesn't seem to work? Quite a bargain you got there.
Anyway I got my one from Amazon.co.uk for about £7.00:
Neet® FLX - Mini HDMI to HDMI Cable - (1.5m) - 1080p Full HD - v1.3b - Type C (mini 19 pin) to Type A (std 19 pin) - Professional HDMI Lead
(Can't post outside links yet)
Interested with the case though, got link for that? =D
Only £1.96 with free delivery http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wired--up-H...UO88/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1306514460&sr=8-1
How about using a mini HDMI adapter with the HDMI cable of your choice?

Hi
I lied about the case price (well my memory did) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250818946312&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Still a good price though.
The link for the HDMI cable I took from the reciept, it seems to be an Ebay (sorry) shop thingy ..do a search on Ebay with the name and it should turn up.
If you're in the U.S., Amazon has a great cable, cheap: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003ES5ZR8.

Has anyone tried to use the malata dock with an HDMI to VGA cable?
The dock works fine outputting to an HDMI TV, but I've tried to use an HDMI to VGA cable and I don't get an output on a monitor. Ideally I want to use this on a VGA projector, anyone had any sucess with this...?
BTW, big hand to itsteve for being such a good sport and organising the import and sale of these for us!
Funny you should ask.
My fiance is a teacher and the projectors at her school have VGA ports. Most of what i saw on the web were Displayport to vga, $100+, Bulky, Needed external PS, or had poor reviews.
I found a HP adapter that actually worked, and didnt have any of the negatives i mentioned.
HP NP031AA#ABA $40 right from HP. (I would link, but I am to new (under 8 posts), and it wont let me)
It arrived yesterday. Plugged it in to the dock, and into my vga cable, booted up and it simply worked!
Hope this helps.
Fantastic, thanks! I'll order one and give it a try. Thanks again.
I don't understand. Shouldn't the following work?

No, I don't think it will. I don't think you can transfer from a digital to an analog signal without some type of converter device. That's what the HP probably does.
I've tried the cable on it's own and I don't get any output (I thought it would work but alas not). I guess you do need to have some form of D2A conversion, not sure what the cable actually does do though as clearlky there is an HDMI and VGA connector on it...!
looking for clarification on the HP HDMI ->VGA converter w/G-tab in Malata zpad doc for use with projector? works? or no works?
HDMI to vga , adapter or cable.

To make a long story short, HDMI is digital and VGA is analogue.
Straight through cables (like the ones linked above) will only work if :
- the GTab can send analogue HDMI (very less likely).
- your projector can accept digital signal via VGA input (very less likely).
The cable above would work in rare scenarios where devices are already able to send the proper signal.
In 99% of the other scenarios you will need an extra hardware (converter) to convert the digital HDMI output of the dock to analogue VGA input of the projector.
These devices aren't that pricey (yet not that cheap) plenty of options on ebay ($40 shipped worldwide).
Hope that answers your question ..
Does anyone know if the Transformer will come with a mini HDMI cable packed in?
I was checking over at Amazon and found an Amazon branded 6' high-speed cable for $7 and a 9' cable for $10. It had 4.5 stars so it seems solid.
Has anyone ever used any of the Amazon branded cables? http://amzn.to/hlQSOp
Is $7 a decent price for a 6' mini HDMI these days?
I use monoprice: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10242&cs_id=1024201&p_id=3645&seq=1&format=2
Works from my video card to HDTV.
Check this out: 15' micro USB to normal USB for $1.12...

Thanks for the feedback!
I went ahead and ordered it from Amazon: http://amzn.to/hlQSOp
Being a Prime member it came in a couple of bucks cheaper than Monoprice.
NOW if i can just get Amazon to ship me a tablet, I'll be in business!
For every accessories/cables on my part i always use ebay, for this price you could get 2 6' mini hdmi to hdmi and they are also covered with nylon...
just my .02 cents
Edit: of course it is cheap (for the price, been using those cables a while and it is A1) only thing is shipping time, you definately have to be patient.... But i find the nylon mesh design definately great!
Does anyone know if it's the same cable as the Atrix?
There's also these
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/hdmi-female-to-mini-hdmi-male-adapter-converter-58158
cheap and then you can just use any old hdmi cable you have lying around, rather than a special cable just for this device.
What do you guys think of this one?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Qualit...?pt=US_Tablet_Accessories&hash=item2c5fa2c9da
i got one for 3 bucks on amazon, free 2 day shipping....
Ya they all work the same got one for 2$ at dealsEXtreme free shipping
Thanks i will just check dealextreme then

I got this and paired it with another normal HDMI cable from DX and they work great.
Since the lapdock has an HDMI in (for the atrix to output to the screen), would it be possible to hook up and output an xbox 360 with the correct adapters (like this)? Or is the HDMI plug just for use with the atrix?
Dude
F**king brilliant man I was at the att store the other day and when I yanked the atrix out of the lapdock(one of which I have ordered) it said NO HDMI INPUT. I bet it will work with a micro HDMI adapter....ordering from China asap, so expect it to be a month :S

If it warned against hdmi input, it actually might not work . It might be a sort of proprietary jack in order to trigger the webtop on the phone. Even though we can just enable webtop with an hmdi cable, it might not work the other way around. But it's worth a shot seeing as the adapters shouldn't be too much money.
it didnt seem that way, if I can dummy load the usb connector possibly by using my atrix, then the hdmi is free for the taking, and when i pulled it out of the dock it seemed like, when you unplug a computer monitor, when it says nothing connected, it seemed like that, I bet this will work

That adapter wont work, it would need to be a FEMALE micro and not a male micro which is what you linked to

still not right. The dock has a male mini connector, to make it work you need a full sized male to mini female cable. They don't make those, so you'll have to make one yourself.
Or you could use the full size male to mini male adapter along with a female mini to female mini coupler or "extender".

it is micro hdmi not mini hdmi
They exist
Last week I was working with my exporter and I noticed a boatload of new micro hdmi products, one of them was male and female adaptors, male to male, female to female etc, I guarantee it you guys they exist, and they also exist for micro usb, with which we can dummy load the shell into powering on with the phone if necessary. This will take maybe $6 worth of chinese parts, a month for shipping, and patience for the adaptors to arrive for an investigation. I'll try to order by next tuesday
O, dang it. I didn't realize i found the wrong adapter. I forgot that we would need a female adapter.

I look forward to hearing more about this.
If it would indeed be possible to use the laptop dock for such a purpose then I might be able to justify picking one up.
...it would then make a nifty portable DVD player too...
just get an inverter to run a blu-ray player in your car, make a $50 cable...
You guys have wayyyyyy too much time on your hands
(from a guy who doesn't own a gaming console )
However, as a proof-of-concept, it would show what the lapdock is capable of. Get a ATSC tuner with HDMI out and you would have a nice portable HDTV.
I am actually wondering if there is a way to put a touchscreen in place of the simple LCD (like Asus is doing with their prototype)
Pretty sure that the screen is going to shut off without the phone activating the display through the USB connection as well.
Good luck though, hope I'm wrong!

Which is why I will dummy load the microusb terminal in the dock with my atrix. I found the female micro hdmi part we are looking for! I'll put up more info ASAP, I'm a bit swamped ATM
It might attempt to sense an atrix via the microusb port. Perhaps a keep alive signal. But it will use the same proprietary protocols that all the docks use to trigger the correct mode.
Sent from my Motorola Atrix 4G on the network with the most backhaul, whatever that is. This post might have errors as I hate touchscreen keyboards.
Nice to see I'm not the only one that saw the no input message and thought to myself, HEY I CAN PLUG SOMETHING ELSE IN! Anyways, anybody get this working yet? I found an adapter on Ebay that should do the trick... But I guess I'm not allowed to post that yet... Take a look though, they do exist if you do not mind waiting for it to ship from China.
I think this just might work!! Sometimes when I plug in the phone I get a message on the screen "no hdmi input". And if this does in fact work, guess what. The atrix 2 will work with our "outdated" lapdocks haha
Has anyone confirmed successful use of a One Piece Micro USB MHL to HDMI converter/cable other than the $40 Samsung OEM one? I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Pro and want to push video and audio to HDMI without carrying around three items (as is the case with this solution that seems to work per other posts: http://www.wowparts.com/mhl-to-hdmi...-1-2014-editin-notepro-12-2-tab-pro-8-4-10-1/).
Thanks!
I tried the Skiva unit (which is essentially a commodity - two red six-foot cables - one for power, one for micro-USB, to an HDMI connector, available under dozens of brand names) - no dice. Even the power connection was unreliable.
I have the multi-piece cheap kit with the angular dongle - also a cheap Chinese commodity and probably precisely what Wow is selling, but at several dollars less after shipping and with better Amazon return policies - coming in a few days and will report then.
I very much prefer the approach my Droid 4 takes, of a dedicated Micro-D HDMI output port. For all the great features of the Samsung SM-T320 (the 8.4" Tab Pro), this and the lack of OTG USB power are bizarre omissions.

The EEKit unit works perfectly. But it comes without directions and has about ten parts, of which you need really just three.
Plug the dongle into the TV, plug the tiny micro-USB to micro-USB SIII plug into the phone input, plug a micro-USB male to micro-USB male cable between that and the Samsung tablet. (Several cables are provided that would work.) Plug your charger into the other micro-USB plug on the dongle. It just works. With several parts left over.
One addendum; the EEEKit unit (and presumably the Wow clone) uses the charger to power the dongle, but doesn't seem to use it to power the tablet. The one-piece red unit (Skiva et al) does power the tablet via the cable... which would be more useful if it also worked for it's intended purpose.

And even more data... since I hadn't sent back the Skiva yet, I tried the S III connector that enabled the EEEKit to work on it. It looks like this unit (Amazon).
With it, the Skiva works. Although it didn't charge with this connected. Which implies that the problem is the Samsung isn't doing the standard outputs.
So the solution is either the full EEEKit set, or the one-piece red cable unit with the S III 5-to11 pin converter.
Bummer... don't want to carry around three pieces, but also don't want to spend $40. Hopefully someone will find a 3rd party one-piece that will work and post here...

Plug the pieces together, glue them with superglue, and it's one piece, still only $15.

Hello everyone,
I am new to the Nexus Player realm and I just want to add a little info for the other owners :good: in order to contribute something that I hope will be of value to someone.
Scooped up some inexpensive add-on's for my Asus Nexus Player:
Microcenter
902080 Inland 4 port mini usb 2.0 hub $4.99
900365 Inland Microusb to usb cable $2.49
445759 IPSG Hiro Usb to LAN adapter $16.99
LAN connection working great. Believe I was having a intermittent wireless issue due to the close proximity of the Nexus Player to my Wireless Modem all directly in back of an LCD TV, must be an EMF nightmare for signals when they are point-blank.
I even plugged in my ancient el' cheapo mini BT keyboard RT-MWK+ and the keyboard and mini touchpad work fantastic, I believe the box stated it was a Rii product and I paid less than $20 shipped, however that was a few years back
